Fails: Hector got killed by a dead tree (yeah, I'll just leave you to guess on that one) I wasn't fast enough when trying to yield in the arena, and my immense luck with the RNG that session ended with a dead Rebecca. I have ended up occasionally thinking of the game as "the campaign of useless criticals" since they usually don't happen unless I don't need it. Wins: On one of my more recent attempts at arena abuse, Raven managed to survive an enemy pegasus knight that would have killed him... because of 67% crit. Then, when he went back in next, he immediately got another 6% critical, winnig the battle. He then kept getting lots of criticals until he was level 20. This RNG luck also happened with Lyn, Lucius, and Rebecca that session. Although, Lyn's luck only seemed to happen when she DIDN'T NEED IT! Before you comment on the Arena Abuse, I'd just like to say that I like having high-leveled units. You should see me when I'm playing Star Ocean instead of Fire Emblem...

I think it would be good too. Although, if you notice a minor spelling error later, should it really bump a topic as if it was a whole new post?

I always reset when units die, but I do tend to arena abuse since I just like being overleveled, and don't care for rankings. I used to play pretty offensively, and my healers never would get much experience, but recently I play more defensively and have my healers exploit level ups and stuff. I like to take advantage of choke points, meaning that I like Oswin and Hector, but I really like fast characters like Lyn (Eliwood... not so much.) who can double everything, and swordmasters are my favorite class. Berserkers are nice too though, I like criticals!

It just spaced out again for me. I'm back on now, but this didn't happen at all for me with the previous server, which really means that it isn't entirely people's browsers/DNS/whatever, it is the new server causing these problems.

I didn't leave out the name just because I didn't want him to know I don't like him, if he starts throwing outright insults, he's not going to last long. I did it because I thought announcing it might count as trolling or something. Tell you what, if I get an announcement from a moderator or admin that it wouldn't count as trolling or anything to announce who I'm talking about, I will. Honestly, I don't expect everyone to automatically know, if they could read my mind, there wouldn't be much need for any of this, would there? :P

Well, just obnoxious. EVERY POST he makes seems to match at least one of these criteria, whether they seem to directly break the rules or not: A: Uses the F-word B: Implies someone else is stupid C: Implies someone else is worthless D: Generally seems hostile E: Any/All of the above I guess I could see about reporting the posts that do break the rules, but his overall attitude is just annoying. Is there anything else I can do about this? Or do I just wait? I haven't been here long so I don't really know how such things are really handled.

The new server has some problems... I keep getting a"this link appears to be broken!" message, and I can't get on. Oddly though, all I have to do is wait, and it lets me get back on later. Mostly it does this in the morning...

Regardless of the ROMs issue, this new server seems to still be causing some sort of problem. This is the first time I've been able to get on today, I keep getting a "this link appears to be broken" message. Any suggestions if it happens again? I still get the subscription e-mails, so I'll still see your posts if it kicks me off again. Or have all of you been getting stuff like that too?

I wondered what was going on when it had all the maintenance and whatever. I was just freaked out when it started saying that the link was broken last night, and I wasn't able to get any other screen than that until just now.

Okay, I don't like it either, but you're going too far. Not all of the boards there are like that, and not everyone who frequents the boards that are that way are like that... even though many are soon driven off by the insanity. You make it sound like everyone who goes there is an idiot, when it is not that simple. The site isn't run well, and some of the boards really are absolute nightmares at times, but you're going too far. Mostly it's the social boards that don't have to do with games that are like that. Then again, I barely even glanced at the topic title there, I didn't even look at those places, and I haven't seen every single board on there, but still...

The thing is, GameFAQs doesn't even handle the nonsense very well. I have actually seen hackers brag that they recently hacked someone, and go away unpunished. I am not kidding at all. Not only that, the moderation of everything else is pretty unpredictable too. So many things that have no excuse being deleted, are, for ridiculously harsh punishments too. They give the obvious trolls far too much leeway, while giving people that are trying to be helpful none at all. Let's face it, GameFAQs is not insane simply because of the number of people there, it's because of how it is all dealt with. In turn, that attracts the trolls, as they know they will be banned infrequently, but will still be allowed to come back and do the same things over and over again. People get away with stuff that I think they should be perma-banned for, and then others are moderated harshly for ridiculously minor things. I'm not saying that it doesn't have good points, but it is not run well, as illustrated by the fact that many people absolutely refuse to post there. It is set up in such a way that it attracts trolls, annoys others, and even drives off other people that would be there if it wasn't so insane.

Yeah. I know of a couple of moderators there that are okay, but really, it seems like the rest are on a power tirp or something. It gets ridiculous at times, especially when you contest an unfair moderation that other moderaotrs agreed was really unfair, and get "I guess I can reconsider this" no apology, no nothin'. To be fair, you can get useful information eventually, even on the crazier boards. Although, on those boards, it can be hard to tell the difference between someone who's trying to be helpful, and someone who's being a sarcastic ass and saying to do something that would never work. I admit that I originally went for the FAQs, though, and they are pretty useful if you're really stuck on a game.

No. I would never have marked a debate topic, and I was pretty annoyed at the moderators myself when I found out that they were being deleted. I still don't understand why they were considered a problem, supposedly they were "excluding" people, but they had that format to limit the already ridiculous amounts of insanity.

I haven't been on the GameFAQs boards for long, I joined November of last year. I ended up going halfway insane after just a few weeks, and I'm barely clinging on... Anyway my "Fire Emblem experience" I've beaten FE7 multiple times, although Lyn's is the only "hard" mode I've played so far. I haven't really tried hard mode on either main story. FE8, I've beaten easy and normal several times, though I only used easy mode the first time. I personally think that it's a bit short though... FE9, I admit, I've only beaten it once, on easy mode. I never really bothered to go all teh way through again, though I've gotten to the Black Knight on normal. FE10... I'm not sure why, but I never finished it. I got a bit stuck on the desert chapter in part 4, and I guess I got distracted with other games and never really bothered to go back. FE "11" Not very far in, but what I have seen... really a pathetic effort, even if it is a remake of a really old game. I haven't played any of the others, except for a very small part of the translated patch for FE6. I know, not that much FE experience, but I like the series a lot.
