Newbie (1/14)

  1. I prefer the DPS healers to the focused healers. My main healer on my high level team is Felicia, and for the most part her healing is purely situational (but often gives other members enough health to tank 1 more hit, which is all you need). For the most part her job is to soften up stuff so that Cain can go murder it and if she happens to heal someone for doing it, bonus! I have a 4 star Lissa on an alt team that I'm leveling, and I've found I have to attack with her more simply because the exp for purely healing is absolutely garbage. Healing seems to be in a bit of an awkward place.
  2. I would have put Corrin's focus on the people that he has the closest relationships with. This would primarily be his close retainers, Felicia, Flora, Jakob, and Lilith. I imagine Corrin would envision Xander, Leo and Gunther as his mentors, but this doesn't mean he would be particularly close with them. Camilla is doting and Elise can be a bit needy so Corrin would probably see them as proper siblings that he wants in small doses (he seems to get a bit annoyed having to spend too much time with them as he doesn't like all the attention). In the case of Hoshido, Corrin could latch on to Mikoto being his actual mother and get genuinely upset when he loses the opportunity to get to know her (no issues with his dragon rage incident). Azura having a similar situation to him would probably help them build common ground and become friends. But for the other siblings, absent any memories of them it would be hard for him to accept them as his family. Corrin would need time to accept them as being siblings and it doesn't help the situation that Takumi is always thinking Corrin is a spy or traitor. There is an absence of bonding between Corrin and the Hoshidan royals in the current story. The real shame though is the lack of interaction between Lilith and Corrin because they are half-siblings. There is so much that could have been explored there, in addition in revelations, once Owain, Severa and Inigo are in the Forgotten Kingdom, there is little reason for them to not reveal themselves to Corrin and explain Lilith's importance and their mission.
  3. Owain's Odin's sword hand hungers, throw away that tome at the first opportunity. Dread fighter is viable on Odin right out of the gate and it makes him an even better mage hunter then he already was. Eat all the mages.
  4. For Xander as a dark flier I would recommend: Galeforce, Trample, Bowbreaker (A+ Leo), Aether (DLC Vanguard)/Luna, Armored Blow/Lancefaire (requires shopping for skills in my castle) Gives Xander protection from arrows and enough offense with lances to clean up softened enemies. Your mileage with tomes may vary. For Odin as a strategist... Tomefaire (my castle), Aether (DLC Vanguard)/Astra, Malefic Aura, Inspiration, Vantage Gives Odin a supportive role (seems appropriate for strategists) with enough offense to punch holes in things. Low health of Strategist lets Vantage proc very easily (provided you survive a hit, which can be a strategist issue) Sorcerer Elise Aether (DLC skill tome), Trample, Tomefaire (A+ Sakura in Revelations or My castle), Savage Blow, Renewal (A+ Sakura) The mighty Elise will burn all before her, she has some staying power with renewal and a nosferatu tome. Just keep in mind that her low defense growths will still keep her really vulnerable and it will only take a few physical hits to wipe her off the map. But hey, she is the definition of a glass cannon this way, and you can use her as a bunker buster. Just clean everything she softens up with Savage Blow and try and cover her so she doesn't suffer retaliation fire (she really doesn't like it).
  5. I like having Oboro A+, Rinkah for deathblow. Spear Master is one of the few classes that has a passive crit bonus and I enjoy stacking that bonus.
  6. Onmyoji has tomefaire which is an awesome skill to have access to as a tome user. Onmyoji also has higher skill, better defenses (mainly res) and staff access (a big deal for supporting the field). Witches however have innate +10 crit and +10 avoid (same as swordmasters), more Hp, higher Mag/Spd and S rank tomes (+1 damage, +5 hit and Excalibur access) Witches are the better glass cannon that will rip apart your enemies and have a decent chance to dodge attacks. Onmyoji has high damage too, but has less chance to outright avoid getting hit like a witch does. To compensate for that though the Onmyoji is able to play a support role if it finds itself in a position where it can't risk getting too close. The witch however, is better at taking advantage of the field and can just warp to an ally and blow something up. The skills from both classes work great together, use witch class to blow up stuff, onymoji class to have flexibility of support/attack. For Mitama, uhhh... Felicia tanks Azama's str bonus and Azama tanks Felicia's mag bonus so... Mitama ends up with +1 str and +0 mag, she can use almost any class as she has no penalties in any stat but no major bonuses in any stat save for speed at +3.
  7. PvP is life sir :P HP bane is one of the situations where your bane statue benefits most of your units. With 50 statues max you don't always use a def, mag, res or luck bane statue (the most commonly encountered banes), you generally want max Str/Mag, Skill, and Speed statues, everything else is to minimize one shots or maximize hit rates (luck statues, but even so it can be hard to find space for them)
  8. HP bane only affects your growth. It doesn't hit your max hp. All banes give -5 to total stats, -3 to one and -1 to two others, HP bane though gives -1 to everything but skill and speed.
  9. The advantage of the HP bane is that it gives you a str statue, I've been using it more and I find Corrin to only be behind by a few points of health (easily fixed with 1 seraphs robe). It ends up being better then a def bane stat wise if you are grinding, and lets you have a +11 str Kana without too much of a def hit.
  10. In general I like having Azura be the passive healing bot. She tends to be slightly behind the fight as a dancer, so I give her Amaterasu and Inspiration. It's like having renewal on all units within 2 (plus it stacks with renewal) and it's also like having both a Sakura and a Hinoka in range of all those units too. If you need more healing give your units within Azura range renewal or lifetaker (probably not both as it is a tad overkill)
  11. The answer is: it depends Tanks deeply care about pair up bonuses that they can stack with Nohrian Trust from a pair up. In general use units that have support ranks with each other for the little bonuses because it can make the difference in a speed tie or a double attack, or dealing 0 damage or dealing 5 damage to try and proc lethality. The small bonuses for attack stance (+hit/+crit/+crit avoid/+avoid) can also matter against things that have high evade. Pair up is critical for units like Midori for maximizing miracle or units that want to stack as much skill as possible to proc things like Aether, Lethality, Luna, Astra and Rend Heaven (less so, but rend heaven is rolled last when checking for attack procs) In pvp you tend to see a wide variety of Kana's, some go for more balanced stats, others go to the extremes such as +10 def or +11 str or +8 mag/spd or +11 spd. But while Kana can be an offensive powerhouse the chance of your opponent having a wyrm slayer or a dragon spirit is very high, so you have to be careful about what can threaten her.
  12. If I recall correctly all food gives +0.5 to all stats and +1 to the stat associated with the food. But there are caps for each stat based on the level of your Lilith shrine
  13. It's not just about your avatar and Nina. Kana has A+ support with Selkie, Velouria, Midori and Mitama so your talent affects them too. Nina doesn't really need your talent to be good at magic, and your avatar can friendship seal anyone who he has A support with so he has access to whatever he wants. Kana on the other hand could do well as a Nohr Noble or a Witch but she might like access to Sorcerer or Onmyoji (she can get the later from Mitama). Your talent should try and serve what Selkie, Velouria, Midori and Mitama would like easy access to (it's what I did in my +mag/-def Nyx!Nina!Kana run), because your avatar and Kana kind already have most of what they need. But what those four like easy access to, is entirely dependent on what parents they have. Samurai and Lancer are what I tend to favour to help them out universally though.
  14. The Grand master has really good support skills and its skill set is essential for any rally bot (looking at you Lazlow). As a unit the Grand master is a slightly more skillful and more damaging dark knight that loses the benefits of horse defenses and horse movement speed.
