As we are all FE fans, i was just thinking that the devs could have come up with something a little better than a paper calendar to set itself apart from all the other SEs for other games. Otherwise everything else is standard content that's in every SE. I mean wouldnt you guys be excited for a Byleth figurine or something along those lines instead? Even if it was priced a bit more?

I hope you're right. I didn't think they would pull another pokemon considering preorders for the SE are up already. If it was split, they should have mentioned it during the direct. It's people talking about it being potentially so that makes me nervous. I feel like its even less of a chance considering its the first main ip for the switch. Yeah i agree that the standard for SEs nowadays are on average $100. But the point im trying to make is that i feel like they're trying to market their SE at the same price, with less things or less quality. The examples i provided in the posts above are games that recently released or are about to be released which shows the discrepancy between the content of SEs. Another good set of examples is looking at the "gold" edition of games that have come out for the other consoles priced at $100; they at least come with season passes in addition to some extras like the steel case.(im sorry, im just upset that all we get is an easily printed paper calender and a CD instead of a USB drive in the US edition D:)

I preordered the special edition for now just in case they announce that the game is split into multiple games. Idk why people are speculating there may be multiple like fates but if it isnt, ill cancel my preorder for the SE.

I preordered back when Amazon had the prime deals so a regular copy is costing me only $50. If i were to get the special edition, its $50 dollars more x.x

At least a cloth is less lazy than a printed calendar that'll only be usable for one year. Like the example i gave, sekiro comes with one for 90 dollars. Looking at Valkyria chronicles 4, it came with a tank figurine for 100. Seems lately, they dont :/

For 100 dollars, Three Houses special editon comes with a steel case (which is usually gotten for free when preordering some ps4 games), a calendar, cd with music, and an artbook. Looking at other games special editions like Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, they actually get a figurine, physical map, artbook, coin replicas, steel case, and a soundtrack which all only costs 90 dollars. Even fates special edition was worth the price because it came with 3 games and some nice stuff like a bag. Im really trying to wrap my head around the justification for a 40 dollar increase provided what we actually get. If they actually included a byleth figurine, i could justify the price. Is there something im not seeing?

These are all amazing suggestions everyone. I feel more prepared now xD So nintendo will only drop SEs after a direct announcement? They wont drop it at a random date or time separate from directs?

Thanks a bunch Daisy Jane ^-^ Oh wow path of radiance.. that was so long ago. I wasnt even aware it existed till i got the gamecube when twilight princess released. I was only aware of the gba games and was a fan of those. What did that SE include? Though nintendo can make more copies, scalpers will find a way to still buy out that stock. Its probably what happened to the switch for the first year until it calmed down. Same with the Wii. The instant copies were up for sale, they were gone. Except with SEs, there isnt that period where things eventually mellow out. @cute chao- ehh i dont visit game stores that often that id see the same people there to actually strike up a mild friendship. I buy things online most of the time.

If its too much trouble don't worry about it. Its no biggie but thanks anyways xD i can just do some research to find a few to get alerts from. I honestly hope the SE isnt anything special that you miss out on some conveniences or content for the game. I dont want the scalpers to win. If i remember correctly, sov didnt really sell out its SE. There wasnt anything in it that really stood out.

You know, i only managed to get my special edition from gamestop for fe fates. I couldnt find it anywhere and the scalpers had bought them all out and were selling them at a premium. Tbh amazon has never given me a problem, and if there was, they'd always replace it for me. However i cant say itll be the same for SEs when they dont have anymore in stock to replace it for you. I really dont like gamestop though.. but they are good for backup preordering or if you want that physical copy picked up. Check back here later with the name please? :)

Ah that's right its scalpers lol i was close xD But that's very understandable. They ruin the market with their greed when we just want too enjoy a special product to support the devs. In a way it kinda reminds me of the crypto mining and gpu market conundrum but less toxic compared to scalpers. I believe youre right in that the most it'll cost would be $100. The only way it would cost more is if it included a model figurine of one of the characters. I just hope they dont pull what they did with fates in that you could only get all versions of the game in that edition otherwise you would have to buy two separate copies and the dlc.

Oh wow.. that was fast! Thanks for linking me! Ill have to reserve a copy and try to keep an eye out for the special edition announcement. Rather than predict when the SE will release. Do you have a personal way of keeping an eye out for when it announces?

Trying to beat the scrappers(? I think that's what theyre called). But checking amazon and Twitter constantly is crazy especially if it doesnt become available for months. What Twitter do you check?

What is the best way to keep an eye on when preorders will come out for feth and if/when special editions come out? It was such a pain finding out later down the line for when fates came and it was all sold out. Is there a website or something that will update you/send you a notification the moment its available? Thanks :)
