  1. Ross gets doubled by Brigands, so I couldn't get him to Pirate by Chapter 5, which I'm playing right now. I was having trouble with him surviving there with only Franz as protection, so I had to deviate from my usual strategy in this chapter. So, he'll promote in Chapter 6, which is going to be hard. 7 will be easy though, it's straightforward charge at the castle. I'm not decided whether to go Eirika or Ephraim. Getting the Rapier in Chapter 9 is difficult without a strong Ross, but Ephraim will be hell. I'm extremely tempted to promote Seth to GK just for the lulz.
  2. I started it. Seth's sprite is awesome.
  3. When I try to run NUPS, it says I need to install one of the following version of .NET framework: v2.0.50727
  4. Can you just give me a step by step tutorial of how to patch it? >_> I'm really bad with this stuff. You should give the three Trainees Prf weapons?
  5. Alright. Can't see much else I disagree with, then. I think Fin!Patty should be on the list, if Midir!Patty is, even if it is a hard pairing. The skills come down to Prayer vs Charge, and Fin's growths are better or tied in everything, except 5% Speed. Her base stats are better or tied in everything as well.
  6. If they don't attack him, take off his Holsety then. Simple. Sety can ORKO them with Lightning while keeping a good avoid, while Arthur is dependent on Holsety for everything if he's over half HP. More combat =/= better combat. I don't care if he gets there first if he can only kill something 75% of the time. BTW, that's his actual chance of killing something. That picture isn't from Chapter 9. >_> It's outside Miletos in Chapter 10. At least show a picture of Chapter 9. It's fully believable you can do a mounted units only playthrough, because then you don't have to give EXP to other people, so your units are higher leveled. If you're distributing it evenly, Nanna is not going to promoted by Chapter 9 unless she had the Elite Ring. I'm having trouble seeing Fee promoted by then too.
  7. It says it's incompatible with my GBA emulator. O_o. I use VBA.
  8. Your relation chart says that Leaf promos to Sage, and Deirdre is a Sage as well. Leaf is going to be freaking awesome. Pursuit + Critical + THammer plus 100 MAG growth! Altenna will have a low strength, but she can use Magic swords well now. So can Celice. But too many physical units have higher MAG growths than physical growths. Oh well. It's going to be hard. :)
  9. Actually, on Lloyd's version, you can just forget Wallace, and charge. Hopefully, your units survive Lloyd's first attack. If they do, killing him becomes easier. This reduces your turn count compared to Linus' version of FFO. I don't think shaving a few turns off compensates for underleveled lords and no Geitz, but I'm just saying that Lloyd's version isn't a complete craphole. Just 3/4s of one. FE6 HM Monke is insane. 20 AS with Brave weapons?
  10. You don't have enough cavalry in this game to just charge with them. Since Arthur's AVO is less, he needs a healer. You only have two mounted healers; Nanna and Fee. Fee doesn't promote until late, and Nanna sucks at healing, normally. Arthur doesn't have Pursuit, so without the Ring, he doesn't ORKO reliably unless he's at half health or less, which normally means that one more hit will finish him off. Arthur also has far lower MAG; his MAG at level 30 is the same as Sety's base, so Sety beats him in killing things forever. His DEF and RES are lower than Sety's, but Arthur's HP is higher. However, if you take 2 points of HP to equal one of DEF/RES, Sety beats him in durability. Arthur's Luck is higher, but neither of them are ever getting criticalled, and Sety's 8 Speed lead is far better than a Luck lead. Arthur's only real win stat-wise is in Skill. The horse? He's promoting in Chapter 9. Chapter 9 has few rushing elements. At the beginning, you're just hanging around waiting for Altenna and then Trabant. Since they're charging regardless of whether or not someone's in their range, they'll still attack Sety with a 0% hit rate, as long as he's the only one in their range. So Sety > Arthur there. Then, you fight Hannibal. I guess going to the next castle could be considered rushing, since it's a long stretch with no one to fight. After, you rush, but you rush at a place where there are Fenrir Mages and Ballistae. They suffer 20% WTD here against the Fenrir mages, so even though Arthur has more move, Sety can dodge the Fenrir more. Of course, it's unlikely that either will be attacked if you bring Celice along with you, instead of leaving him out of the range of Fenrir and Ballistae. The rest of it is fighting Arion. Cool, Arthur gets there quicker, but if he doesn't proc Continue or Critical, you're screwed because Arion gets a free shot with Gungnir at someone. Sharlow could Berserk him, but do you really want to drag Sharlow all the over there with his 5 move? If you do, then Sety >>> Arthur, because Sety will get there quicker than Sharlow, in which case you might as well use Sety instead. Chapter 10 is Dark Mages with Sleep and Hel and Fenrir at the beginning. Sety's base RES is higher than Arthur's level 30 RES. Arthur goes to lala land, while Sety might stay awake. I'm thinking 6 movement is better than 0. He's just a sitting duck for Hel and Fenrir to target him in the same turn if he falls asleep. Arthur can go rescue the Civilians quicker, but I don't think I've ever had a problem with rescuing them. I'm normally sitting around waiting for them to get to me. Then neiher of them go to Rados on account of low resistance, but if either of them do, it'll be Sety. On the way to Miletos, there's more Dark Mages with Hel and Fenrir. There's forests too, so a movement lead is cancelled. Then you face Ishtar and Julius. Sety > Arthur at beating either of them. Chalphy... I guess the Hero weapon guys might not attack Sety. Arthur > Sety here, as long as he leaves someone alive, so the Bishop heals instead of Sleeps. In the Finale, Edda is a high resistance solo, Sety > Arthur at beating Burian, due to better durability, Arthur is maybe better to Dozel and Freege, Sety > Arthur at beating Ishtar, and then you're facing the Dark Warlords as a group, so a Movement lead doesn't matter. Finally, Julia kills Julius. End. Sety was better than Arthur at most of that, especially parts with Dark Mages. Wow, that was a long paragraph.
  11. Alright, Lester > Sety. BTW, it was Paperblade who convinced me, because he was actually doing more than repeating the same two points. Just to clarify, I meant that since Levin!Sety's AVO becomes too high for them to even move, Claude!Sety is better, as they attack him. Why did both Sety and Arthur drop? If Arthur isn't guaranteed the Pursuit Ring, extra avilability and a horse don't put him above Sety's better caps and staves. 16 AVO makes a huge difference. Sety has Lightning available too. Edit: I've never used her, so I'm just asking, is Noish!Fee really that good?
  12. For some reason, I thought Hero Bow had 12 weight. Strange. That Baron? Lester does 9x2 at level 18 wielding a Killer Bow. No critical means an exact 4RKO. He has ~15% chance of critting. So, in 7 hits, he has a 32% chance of not critting. That's the same as the Baron's hit, isn't it? Again, a Great Shield activation can screw over Lester. Activation rate is Level%, with 20 added if you're promoted, correct? If not, he has a 27% chance of getting one. If it does, a 47% chance. Oh yeah, Lester doens't have a perfect chance of hitting. Only around an 82%. If 99% staves cna miss in FE5, I see no reason why Lester can't miss. Faval spends 2k gold killing one armour with Ichival. Cool. Actually, Ichival isn't one-shotting anything besides Dragons, so 2k gold for every non-DK kill. That's not a tight budget? He gets 17.5k gold per Arena completion. You're limiting what he can kill by a lot. He can kill 8 or 9 enemies each chapter before having to either get a village, or get a donation. Or, he can screw villages and donations, and use a Hero Bow! Who the hell says Holyn!Swordkids are better than Lester? I've never said that Lester is worse than them. I consider Holyn!Swordkids redundant in stats, as he gives what Aira gives, and doesn't fill in any holes. Skillwise, he only gives Lunar Sword, which can't proc simultaneously with Meteor Sword. I meant that if Levin is his dad, and Sety is equipping Holsety, the DKs don't attack him because his AVO is too high. I didn't read your post? You didn't read my post. I did counter your 40% hit argument. I said that Sety could stand on a mountain, something Lester can't do. Paperblade at least answered that point, by saying that the DK hit goes below 0 if he stands on a mountain, so wait, they aren't pulling off 40 hit, they're pulling off less than 30! Pulling up speed and luck and enemy stats and weapon weight are cool and all, but it doesn't take Terrain into account. I like how you said that nobody but Mages can counter from 1-2 range, and then forgot to mention that Sety is a mage. Also, why the hell can't you use a Javelin/Hand Axe of your own? Oifaye has a Javelin, and both Javelins and Hand Axes are buyable. Hand Axes have cruddy accuracy, but they also get a 20% WTA boost. And Johalva actually has a good Skill Growth Rate. Fuck Canto. You can't get out of everything, whether or not they have crap movement. Lester will get attacked at 1 range occasionally. If that unit happens to be a Mage, he gets slaughtered in 2 hits. Also, if you're fighting a group while retreating slowly (Ishtar Finale), needing Lester to go forward at least 3 spaces (He must be 3 spaces back to avoid 2 range combat), and then 5 spaces back, if you're moving back. Any Terrain blocking his way causes him to not be able to retreat far enough. Again, Stave utility hasn't been argued yet. He comes with a free Libro, and most likely with a Recover as well. He has hands down the best MAG on your team, making him the best foot healer. Also, Sety has Continue, while Lester has Charge. Charge is a crapshoot that can be used against him. Continue allows Sety to get a third attack with a 38% chance at base. Correct me if I'm wrong, but all you've said about Lester being locked to Bows consisted of saying that Canto allowed him to escape most hits, and his good dodge and durability allowed him to disregard the rest. Nothing of how he has only 1 attack per turn. Also, how do the DKs have such horrible hit? Enlighten me. At level 20 promoted, Lester has 21 Speed on average, with 19 Luck. He has 13 AS with a Hero Bow, although I guess he can use Killer for more dodge. So, 55 AVO while equipping a Killer Bow. If the DKs have 90 hit, making their hit 0 against Sety while he stands on a mountain, Lester's getting hit at 35% hit rates. If, as you say, they have 100 hit, they have 45% hit rates against Lester. The worse Sety's dodge becomes, the worse Lester's is. You can't say that Sety has bad dodge at this point and say that Lester has good dodge. Lester is beginning to annoy me. I might start killing him off just for fun.
  13. Oh, I see. Hmm, Balmung!Ishtar is probably freaking hard. I'm guessing THammer's Hit bonus is supposed to counter that? Leaf vs Ishtar. Lol. Another problem I have is that the promotion lines seem incosistent. Some Shamans promote to Sage, while others go to female magefighter. Cuan is the only Mage Knight? Mages are promoting to Sages too. There's too many Sages. Sage is too good a class for there to be that many. Earth Sword? :o Awesome. What does Lachesis get from Eltshan in Chapter 3 then? A Resire? Yeah, I don't think Celice's bonus will be that broken. You screwed up a lot of characters. Skasaha and Lakche got murdered. So did Aless and Shanan. Speaking of Shanan, Patty's base RES is probably too crap for the Mistoltin to absorb most of the hit. It probably just reduces it in half. Her AVO won't be too good, so she'll die in a few hits as well. Maybe you can lower the hit rates of the Dark Mages?
  14. This is good. I'll try it once all the bugs are fixed. :P Also, does Lex still get a Hero Axe from his Chapter 1 Event, or is it now a Hero Sword? And similarly, is the Hero Weapon that Holyn/Lex give Aira changed in their Chapter 3 convo? Alec doesn't deserve Sety's mug. :( He's not cool enough. Sety should have kept it. I hate Alec's mug, and Sety is one of my favourite characters. :( BTW, wouldn't a FuryxLevin pairing give Sety the GaeBolg? Again, a TiltyuxClaude pairing would give Arthur the Mistoltin. I'm going to do BrigidxClaude for sure. A Thief with Mistoltin and an Axe Knight with the Swanchika? :o Rape. Celice with Charisma gives everyone near him 25 AVO and hit! :o Nerf Male Thieffighter, both of your thieves are female. If that's the easiest course, it's probably the best. Hmm, Shanan will die tragically. No AVO boist means that the Dark Mages murder him. Ichival isn't good enough.
  15. The story is good. My only problem with it, is how will it be told? Will it be something to read before you start the game, or do you find out as you progress through the story? Also, no skillz? :( Random question; where is Zolde?
  16. Just because Lester shares a weakness with most physical units doesn't mean you can just disregard it in a debate against someone w/o that weakness. Mages almost always have accuracy above 100. He kills them before they counter, but they get a shot in if they attack first. Why the hell are you comparing them to Holyn!Swordkids? If you must drag Lakche and Skasaha into an argument that has nothing whatsoever to do with them, at least drag their better versions into it. Lester definitely isn't beating Lex!Swordkids in durability. And, Lex!Swordkids have Elite, so they're higher level as well. The Arena is iffy for Lester. Chapter 7, The General with the Steel Bow is OUTSPEEDING Lester. He has 2 AS, while Lester is at around 0. So only 2 attacks per turn for Lester. He's doing around 8 damage per hit, so 16 per turn. The General has 59 HP, so that's a 4RKO. Meanwhile, the General is 2RKOing Lester with hit rates in the 60s. I can easily see Lester losing to this guy, not even counting Big Shield activation. Then, in Chapter 8, there's a Mage and a Mage Fighter in the Arena, both with Shield Rings. He can probably kill the Mage before he attacks back, but not the Mage Fighter. He's borderline doubling her too, so with some bad luck, he might be outsped. The MF 2RKOs him. Then, the customary General after the MF is also being borderline doubled. And then Chapter 9, 10 and F get into Barons with A Rank Magics. The one in Chapter 9 has 13 AS and 34 Mt. Lolpwnt? Lolwut? Sety is seeing no action? That's laughable. You have Aless, Delmud, Lester, Fee, Fin, possibly Johan, and Nanna in Chapter 8 for mounted units. Aless and Delmud are admittedly good, Lester can't kill more than one enemy, Fee has bad durability, and since we're comparing Lester to Claude!Sety, Fee's father is Claude too. She can't critical, and I don't know if she's ORKOing Dragon Knights with the Hero Lance (Fin is here now, so that isn't even a full monopoly). I don't know if Fin is ORKOing without the Hero Lance either. Johan might not be there, and Nanna sucks at fighting. You think your mounted units can sweep the rest of it? Lester will die tragically if you bring him, because with Dragon Knights everywhere, and Mtns surrounding you, only Fee can block attacks over the Mountains against Lester. Sety, on the other hand, can solo the rest of the chapter even with Claude as his dad. Actually, just for Chapter 8's purposes, Sety can do better with Claude as his dad, since his AVO will be so high that they won't even attack with Holsety. If he takes it off, his AVO is worse, because his Speed wrapped around to 17. 60 AVO + 30 Mtn bonus while ORKOing everything is EPIC. If you argue that other foot units can also ORKO everything with high dodge rates, that's even worse for Lester. That means that even more people are doing better than him. None of your mounted units are going to be promoted, so they can't go on the mountain (except Fee, who doesn't get the bonus anyways). Chapter 9 is more DKs, except now, it's ALL mountains from where Altenna and Trabant charge at you, so Lester isn't even fighting them. BTW, Faval doesn't ORKO Armours with a Silver. So yes, Faval would like the Hero Bow. My mistake. I looked at the Arch Knight strength cap of 22 by accident.
  17. If we penalize Karel for denying us Harken, we have to penalize Harken for denying us Karel. That just brings them both down unnecessarily. Sure, denying us Harken is more severe than denying us Karel, but I'd say Wo Dao > Brave Sword. My opinion. It depends on the characters you're using. Guy or Lyn would like that Wo Dao. A number of units would like the Brave Sword. Just take out cost. I hope no one brings up Cyas versus Sety. >_> I still think Cyas should have somehow come with FFlame. They would have been closer to each other, even if Sety would still be better. Canas is fine where he is. He's the only one besides Athos who can use Dark magic. Luna is awesome in this game. Eclipse has crap accuracy, but it's good on the rare occasion it hits.
  18. You make it sound like Lester is Lex or something. Sure, his concrete durability is better than your healers, but it isn't good enough for him to take more than a couple hits. His dodge is alright, but again, it isn't good enough for him to dodge reliably. Hence, he doesn't have good durability. These weak, inaccurate weapons can still kill him in a couple hits. And unless you also have a healer exposed, every unit that can will attack Lester. Not to mention, Mages murder him. 0 base RES with a 7% growth? Mages are also more accurate then Hand Axes and Javelins. Lester is attacking one or two enemies per turn. Beating the Arena is iffy for him, while any half-assed Sety can storm through the Arena. He's not going to have so large of a level lead, especially since you've got to use other units. 60ish AVO is a lot more than some of your other units who'll be in the front. Sety may not get attacked. Both Sety and Lester destroy Thracia, but once you get out of it, Sety keeps a good offence, while Lester doesn't. Lester might not even ORKO Armour Knights or Generals. I don't have the stats, but it's probably borderline if he does. His class has a totally crap STR cap. Also, Lester doesn't have a monopoly on that Hero Bow. Faval has no Thief Ring/Bargain Ring, he doesn't have a lover, and Ichival is expensive. His Silver Bow may not ORKO Armours either. PEMN, but I think he doesn't. Johalva can use bows as well. Leaf, though he doesn't need it, can use it too. Lester's entire life is built on that Hero Bow. Take it away, and he's shit. This is all fighting. Let's not forget that Sety has Valkyrie, Reserve, and Libro. Sety can stay on the second line equipping Lightning, and heal your units from behind. Sety doesn't have to be attacked either.
  19. I dunno about Lester > Sety. Sety isn't invincible without Holsety, but he's still packing 80+ AVO with Claude as his dad. Probably a couple others as well, but those aren't magical fathers. 80 AVO is pretty good. He's still dodge tanking most generics. Lester is ORKOing most things on Player phase, but has no Enemy phase action, and is an enemy magnet. He has crap durability too. The only people enemies target over him are your healers. Don't say "He can move after attacking, so he never gets hit!", because there are plenty of enemies with ranged weapons. The Chapter 6 Axe Knights, for example, 2HKO him with hit rates in the 60s, IIRC. And he's probably killing them in 4 hits, but not in two. Also, just because you have Canto doesn't mean you never get attacked. Sometimes you can't get him back far enough. By the way, I'm against Levin!Arthur at top of top too. He should go down to bottom of top. He's killing about two Brigands in Chapter 6, so after the Arena, he'll be level 5. He's not going to be promoted before you get Sety. And Sety can actually dodge without Holsety and kill at the same time. Hell, depending on the Dragon Knights' HP, Hawk might be able to do it better (assuming Arthur doesn't have the Pursuit Ring). He has 36 POW with Lightning, and 50 AVO.

    Pairings

What? You have to play money games for Sylvia to get it too. She's not killing the Warrior who drops it. Are you mixing up the Leg Ring with a Ring you get from a village?
  21. My main problem with Arthur (and Tinny too), is that he can only use Anima magic. He has swords, but his strength is crap, and every chapter in the second gen except 6 and 8 have Dark Mages. 6 doesn't matter, because Arthur barely does anything in that chapter. Chapters 7 and 10, for example, are brutal for him. Chapter 7 has Dark Mages that 2HKO him at hit rates of 98%, while he does 12 damage after doubling. Then, the rest of it is a crapload of troops outside Melgen he can't survive against, and a couple Thunder Mages and the troops with Blume. Chapter 10 has a whole bunch of Dark Mages at the beginning in formation. They have Hel and Fenrir. That's a 2HKO as well. The middle part is a bunch of mounted units, which he can fight against, and then another bunch of dark mages with Hel and Fenrir. These ones have Ishtar and Julius with them as well. The end part is a squadron where the generics have Hero weapons. He definitely doesn't want to fight those either.

    Kishuna

The only times I've managed to beat Kishuna was on Eliwood's mode, where it doesn't matter. On Hector's mode, I have horrible luck with 50-60 hit rates, and I'm too lazy to restart.
  23. I'd say Julia is slightly better. They both get 2HKOd, but she has Resire to heal herself. Due to her high MAG, as long as she doesn't get doubled, she'll probably do more damage than she takes. She's also invaluable against Dark Mages, because even if she doesn't ORKO them, she brings them to low health, so that someone else can finish them off. And unlike everyone else, she survives more than one hit due to Resire. She promotes into Sage, one of the best classes in the game. She might never get a horse, but she does still have 6 movement after promo. Plus, she can heal up to B Staves. Not sure if it really counts, but she gets a point for having the best chance to kill Julius. Meh. I guess he can stay where he is, but Julia goes up.
  24. Arthur's AS isn't high enough to have a really amazing AVO even equipping Wind, because his class has the lowest Speed cap of all promoted classes, only 22. In this game, most people can kill one unit. The hard part is surviving the other 10 that come with that one unit. He also has 5 movement, and you didn't address that. You have to move slower every turn so he can keep up. And for what? What's so special about him? He doesn't have a holy Weapon, he can't heal, and he doesn't have awesome skills. He's just another unit. There's nothing special about him. There's nothing cool that only he can do. Yes, he's beating the Arena. He wouldn't even promote if he couldn't beat the Arena.

    Pairings

Noish isn't a bad pairing for Aira, but how the hell does Continue and Critical beat Elite and Ambush? Minor Neir blood does nothing for them weapon wise, as they can't use Axes, but the growth bonus is pretty nifty. So yeah. Another thing; pairing Levin and Tiltyu is horribly inconvenient. You have to practically glue Tiltyu to Levin to get it, which is hard considering how often Levin is soloing at the end of Chapter 4 and all of Chapter 5. Fury and Levin, on the other hand, automatically fall in love from just one conversation in Chapter 4. Holyn x Brigid is pretty good, but Lex x Brigid is probably better for Patty. Faval is slightly worse, but he doesn't really give a damn. Jamka x Aideen is crap. Lester doesn't get Pursuit, which ruins him, and Rana is pretty much the same. In the end, it's really all up to you. Either way, try to make use of Elite. It's simply too good a skill to not pass on.
