  1. It'd be interesting if this flashback happens right after Kamui is reminded of his Hoshidan blood. Realizing that your adoptive family is responsible for both your father's death and your own kidnapping right before the big decision could be enough to lean Kamui either way. I don't know...if they were older, I feel like there would be a natural disconnect between Kamui and their Nohrian kin, especially if he remembers the kidnapping and his birth family. I think the way to do it would be to not have Kamui remember the kidnapping until right before the choice. Garon isn't there to provide answers and now Kamui is flooded with feelings of basically 'everything I know is a lie' I also think the Nohr siblings should have known about Kamui's heritage but were sworn to secrecy to add more distance between them. There's also this. It doesn't take a lot to not want to kill people, especially when you just learn they're your family especially the innocence that Hoshido seems to have. Along with learning that your family has basically lied to you all your life and all the chaos going on in your head, 'peace-seeking Hoshido' is not all that implausible of a choice.
  2. Well, memory is linked to age and they were a bit older than Kamui. Depending on the age Kamui was kidnapped, it's highly possible they have no memory at all of Hoshido.
  3. I'm not sure who you're talking about in AoT (I have my suspicions) as I'm hella behind, but I distinctly remember Reiner and Ymir talking about how gay they are. And illegal and treated poorly? Sounds like most of America ~5-10 years ago and still some parts of USA today. That didn't really stop the amount of gay media at that time. And it's funny how they say that but homosexual inclusiveness has basically been confirmed for the next Tomodachi Life if I'm not mistaken. Yes. A gameplay mechanic. In 2 games. Out of 13. That has yet to be confirmed in this installment. And 1, that depends on exactly where you're talking about. Different cultures, different norms. 2, this is a fantasy setting of IS's own creation so they can include whatever relationships they choose. All that being said, I'm still not hopeful. I don't think there's an actual good reason to not include other sexualities in IF, as it could definitely work, but IS doesn't need a good reason cause its their game. Oh well, maybe they'll surprise me.
  4. Wow, not fair. You can't just throw this at me and force me to choose like that. Do you know how indecisive I am??? Cool badges. Design, probably Hoshido. Gameplay, probs Nohr. Morally, I'm split. It's obvious my adoptive father is corrupt and manipulative and hearing the whole 'You're adopted!' as an adult would cause some distance, especially depending on how many people knew and didn't tell me. That said, I don't want to fight against the only family I've known, nor do I destroy a seemingly innocent country... Obviously, I'm on the third path, but until there's a badge for that I'll just switch back and forth. That is, if the third path is me turning into a dragon and breathing fire between the two opposing armies roaring at everyone to calm the fuck down. If not, I'll be quite disappointed.
  5. That's not really comparable as you're crossing mediums along with narrative styles. Books have the advantage of delving far more into character development and story as a book's main goal is to tell a compelling story. Video games have that job along with balancing it with good gameplay. And while Winston is your eyes into 1984, they are still his eyes and come with their own personality and bias. I'd also argue that Link and self-inserts (not particularly the ones in FE) are more effective as you see the world as it is and are judging it based on your own interpretation and reactions that are not flavored by another's lens. That's the diff between self-inserts and protags, and Link, Robin and Kamui are indeed self-inserts. However, IS's self-inserts do have their own problems and are nowhere near perfect, but, for what they are, they're not bad. Personally, I believe the only 'perfect' self-inserts are those you have complete control over and that's just impossible in a series like Fire Emblem as the story, plot and order of the formers are already predetermined. IS trying to balance a playable character that is also a self-insert in this particular series is a challenge and I give props to them for even trying. But yes there's an inherent dissonance between player and character that is near impossible to breach without the use of multiple endings/having the silent protag option. I'm sure Kamui won't have that problem. In Robin's case, he has no memories of his father, learns his father only wants to use him to bring forth the apocalypse and that his father brain-washed him into killing his best-friend/lover in an alternate future and plans to do it again. Given the circumstances, Robin was definitely justified.
  6. I really like Decker. And you ruined Decker. Good point on Joker though. I do like Lilith if Nyx has to be changed. I'd say Selene but that theme's been done with Selena... Maybe just Elle if Elfie must change as well? And I'm with you on Marx, probably one of my favorite names so far. They better keep Harold as well, it's just so fitting XD
  7. Yes, Cyrus is indeed super attractive. And that ould be a beautiful androgynous couple. You're not alone lol
  8. I hope they have at least some importance and aren't just there. With the duality we have going on, they'll probably be two more clans (maybe one because hardcore Nohr) that side with Nohr. I like the idea of the clans being related to the dragon tribes, but then I get worried about a possible dark dragon tribe worshippers. I swear to God if I have to deal with both clans shedding their differences and coming together to fight some big, bad, evil dragon that comes out of basically nowhere I'm gonna- I think the tribes will give us interesting sub-plot, characteres, maps regardless so the excitement is still there. Or this. Also this.
  9. I don't really get this argument in FE games. They're all in one army. There's a chance that any two characters could be assigned to one job or will support each other in battle at some point, leading to conversation and a possible connection. Your other two points I agree with, though I'm hoping for more than 4 support options for characters. I won't mind that much but... I also hope that the endings for character relationships (i.e. married, companions, etc) are saved till the endgame though I wouldn't mind S-support bonuses in-game.
  10. Yeah, I think IS is mostly going back and forth between the two paths. There may be a slight lean towards Hoshido mostly because it is the version meant to bring in more players.
  11. The blue-haired cav and maid. More on Nohr characters in general. Also Tsubaki.
  12. That imbalance can be the case in sibling relationships as well, even moreso when one of the siblings is adopted.
