  1. XD a day passes and I miss out on everything, darn it, Star Wars! Anyway, I'll definitely be checking back to see if you can take anymore orders, and even if you can't, thank you very much for offering up your services. Do you have any possible guesstimates on shipping costs? Like if someone ordered one of each Player Box and a playmat (none of which is particularly heavy, but I guess they're kinda long), what could I expect shipping to be? Something like $15-20 or more like $40+? Thanks again!
  2. Awesome! Depending on the stipend, I would most likely like to place an order as well (a bit low on spending cash as is, so it all depends on what those extra costs come out to be). I am wondering though if you'll only be able to get one promo Camilla card from the entire purchase? If so, how much would you charge for someone to have that (I would like it, lol)?
  3. So I'm wondering if anyone is selling or knows where I can buy the Sleeves that come in the Set 2 Boxes and how much they go for. It's really cruel of Nintendo to only stick 5 Sleeves in a box (though it's really smart of them too, but ugh). Thank you for your time!
  4. Hmm, I find this curious. I played Final Fantasy Tactics and a couple other SRPGs before Fire Emblem and I like them all. As someone else mentioned, Super Robot Wars is probably one of the closest to Fire Emblem in terms of gameplay (the view, the battle cut ins, the turn phases and attacking/counter attacking), although the setting is completely different. Have you ever tried Advance Wars? Anyway, we all got different tastes, so I wouldn't call it strange. Fire Emblem definitely has its appeal and it all comes down to what you enjoy about it. FFT and Tactics Ogre are very similar to each other, so it's definitely worth trying out other types of SRPGs and seeing if it's really the rest of the genre that you dislike or just the ones like FFT.
  5. Thanks for answers. As for #1, I wasn't looking at the Wiki, but the Proxy Cutouts that were posted in another thread, many of them contain errors such as the Nowi one. Haven't played Kaijudo, but the original Duel Masters did not have you draw a card when you placed down Mana. I don't even see why you brought up Weiss Schwarz. You get Stock in that game by Attacking. When you Clock a card, you're damaging yourself in order to draw 2 Cards. As for the other card games, just because it's not specifically called the "Mana Phase" doesn't make it any different. Just googled it, from the Kaijudo rulebook: " Mana phase . You may charge your mana by putting one card from your hand into your mana zone. You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. Ignore the abilities of cards in your mana zone; you only tap them to summon creatures and cast spells. " Clearly it's the phase itself and yet it works just the same as pretty much every standard card game except Buddyfight. I don't know anything about Wixoss (but even you say you're not sure on that one either, and you're wrong about Weiss Schwarz), but even if it was the same, that's 2 card games that play the way you state, and that is not enough IMO to add such a confusing line that has already lead players astray and forced them to ask about it here. (Edit: Read the rules of Wixoss and you don't draw a card when you place a card in your Enerzone, which is like the Mana/Resource of that game) Really, it's doing more harm than good. As I said before, most people will not just assume on their own that you get to draw a card just because you placed a card down for your resource. Adding in that you don't get to draw really just makes people assume that you mean they have to skip their draw step and they probably think that's insanely stupid (which it would be). Anyway, it's not a big deal if a lot of people aren't going to the Wiki for the rules. But we've already had a few people in here ask about it, so it's definitely causing confusion.
  6. Ehh, honestly, that just makes it more confusing for new players because no one is going to just assume you draw a card when you play a Bond. Just because another card game does that (I've never played a card game where you draw when you play mana, Magic isn't like that, Pokemon isn't like that, WoW TCG wasn't like that, VS System wasn't like that, Force of Will isn't like that, yea, tons of games aren't like that) doesn't mean people will assume the mechanics are the same. I'm definitely curious, you say a lot of other games work that way, which ones? There are definitely a ton of card games I haven't played (though I've played most mainstream TCGs), but I'm wondering if they are games that are popular enough to warrant including that information or if it really is just Buddyfight. I really think you should just remove that part from the wiki. Anyway, I had a couple things I wanted clarified (pretty sure I know the answers, but want to make sure): 1) Is the Cost 3 Nowi's effect to return a Bond to your hand mandatory? 2) When a Support Fails (such as Tiki flipping up a Cost 1 Tiki Support) do you lose everything from that Support? Like, I know you don't gain the Bonus Attack, but would you also not gain the Support Skill too? 3) Are the Skills from Promoted Minerva and Lon'qu always active (The one's that increase their Atk by 10 for every Sword or Flying Unit, basically is the increase always there even on the opponent's turn)? 4) It doesn't really seem like there's been an exact answer as to what qualifies as a "Class Change", I'm just curious if anyone's found the right answer yet. Thank you to everyone for taking your time to help others! And thanks to those asking questions too, the more we can get answered, the more we can all understand better.
  7. Thanks for the responses, guys! That clears up a lot of things for me. Also, playing multicolor doesn't seem too bad. Hmm, that could be it, audiotronica. Like, you didn't really sound nervous, just seemed it a little bit. Either way, no big deal, lol. How'd you do and what type of deck did you play? Man, beatdown/face race usually dominates early in a game's life. I remember old school Yugioh was all about dropping 4 Star Monsters with 1800+ Attack. We'll have to wait and see if any better strategies get discovered (or if anything else can even survive right now).
  8. Maaaan, all the new information on the TCG and the video games is exciting. So I've got a few questions now: Do you only get to draw a card when you promote or would playing a 2 Cost Marth over a 1 Cost Marth give you a draw? If you do "Class Change" a Promoted Unit on top of the same Promoted Unit, do you get to draw a card? Also does it have to be a different card (can you play B01-001 Marth on top of B01-001 Marth or only on top of the Starter Deck Marth)? Also, did we ever learn about playing multicolors? Do you only need one Blue Bond to play as many Blue Characters as you want or do the Bonds only generate mana (for lack of a better term right now) for their own colors? If Bonds become colorless when face down but can still be used to play Units then I'm guessing you only need one of a color, but *shrugs*. Thanks a bunch for doing this. You seemed a little nervous, but it was still a good watch. Seeing someone else open up a box kinda helps the wait for my own cards to come in, lol. Also, pretty nice pulls, but man, seeing you not get a single R twice makes me feel like I won't get a playset of anything. Only 2 HNs a pack is kinda a bummer too, lol. Can't wait for your tournament/metagame coverage. I'm pretty surprised we didn't get any villains (besides Camus, but he doesn't really count). Do you think villains from a series (like Awakening) will have the same Insignia or Colors as the rest of the series (I'm almost thinking they might have their own symbol/color, but who knows)? I mean, I'm surprised they didn't sneak in an Aversa card at least, lol. I'm also wondering if we'll have to wait for another dedicated set to get more Shadow Dragon/Awakening cards, or do you think they'll add a few into the next couple sets? Like, I really hope they cover all the games (this card game needs to be successful so it can live), and I also hope they increase the set sizes to at least include 1 card for every playable characters (though I guess they gotta keep us wanting more, but like, why do all the kids have a promotion card except Morgan and Noire and where's Kjelle at :( ). I'm just hoping the rules of the card game don't limit it too much, as long as they can come up with interesting abilities and some awesome art, then it can still be a fun/good card game.
  9. You've mentioned you don't really play/know much about TCGs and it really shows, lol. Those odds are pretty good (if it turns out to be the standard anyway, it's possible their box was lucky), usually the highest rarity in a card game has ridiculous odds, so 1 in 4 is really good. Lol, that's highly unlikely, and honestly, but it actually wouldn't suck if it's an SR you need/could use a playset of. audiotronica, do you know how many Ns and HNs we get per pack?
  11. Ehh, I do agree 100 (isn't it 114? also the 10 Starter Deck Exclusives) is a bit small for a base set, but you gotta consider: 50 card deck can include 4 of each Card (not Character) So: 2 Unpromoted Lord (for Crits/Dodges) 4 Promoted Lord (to Promote ASAP, and Crits/Dodges) 4 Unpromoted Characters x5 4 Promoted Characters x5 4 Random Character(s) Basically, it only takes 15 Individual cards to actually make a whole deck. So with 110 (+14?) cards to choose from, it's a good enough pool (it just depends how many of those 110 are viable cards). Don't forget, the 2nd set comes out in September, which is very soon after (though, I guess we can't expect to see any support for the older decks in the set, huh? hopefully mixing colors is viable). But, as with all card games starting out, there probably will be some completely optimal decks dominating, it's just how it goes, but who knows. As for the mechanics themselves, I feel like it's too big of a Vanguard rip off, and Vanguard isn't that fun to me (but I always loved the art), but I'm still hopeful and want to test the game out. Even if I don't find the gameplay to be fun, I'll be buying it for the art. Thanks for the thanks, but I only compiled a list of the exclusives and foils. I don't mind making lists for the full decks though, but that would be later in the week. And as always, thank you so much for all your translation work, you and the other translators are the ones holding this whole thing together. I love reading the translated tweets, and you get to the new cards almost immediately.
  12. TCGs actually are quite unpopular in general in the US. Yes, the successful TCGs are huuuuge and enjoy a ton of success, but there's a small number of successful TCGs in comparison to all the failed ones. Just a few I can recall off the top of my head: Digimon TCG, Sonic X TCG, TMNT TCG, GI Joe TCG, MegaMan TCG, .Hack TCG, Yu Yu Hakusho TCG, Teen Titans TCG, Shaman King TCG, Zatchbell TCG, etc etc. A whole bunch of those died after 2-3 sets, and while most of them were not carried over from Japan (besides the first Digimon TCG, I think these were all made in America), we have had some card games (like Gundam War) which tried to make it out of Japan and totally failed (I only ever saw demo decks in English and nothing beyond that). Even card games that were doing well eventually died: the old DBZ card game, Inuyasha TCG, Bleach TCG, VS System, WoW TCG, etc CFV was in Korea almost instantly after coming out in Japan, it was also developed specifically to be a TCG with an anime dedicated to promoting the card game. And a lot of TCGs in the US get their success from appealing to a huge audience, and I don't really see Fire Emblem appealing to kids the same way Pokemon or Yugioh does. As far as Fire Emblem not being popular, Awakening sold around 390,000 in the US (only sales figure I could find), but that is far from enough to keep a TCG alive. Whereas Pokemon X and Y have sold over 2 million each in the US (if these numbers are accurate), and even then the card game is nowhere near as popular as it once was. You also gotta figure in the different costs in each country. Cards in America cost about the same as in Japan, yet Japanese cards are usually of a much higher quality (looking at Vanguard for this example). Whereas in Korea, a pack of cards is 30-50 cents and a box is about $10, but the cards are a lower quality (and actually, as far as Vanguard and Pokemon goes, they're about the same as the US cards, the foils don't come close but the cards themselves are just slightly worse). It's a big risk no matter how you look at it, and it's completely understandable that they're probably not willing to take that risk. And obviously just because Japan is getting DLC codes packaged with the cards, it doesn't mean we won't get those codes some other way (or at all). I know it's not the same, but look at Bravely Default, we got a whole bunch of DLC included in our game that required them to get codes from books, soundtracks, and other things, we also missed out on a whole set of DLC costumes as well. tl;dr: No matter how successful the big TCGs are in the US, most TCGs don't ever hit that point and it's just a risk to bring over the Fire Emblem TCG. It's not impossible, but it's highly unlikely.
  13. Not sure if you saw the deck list, but there's a ton of multiples in the deck. The point he was making was that the cards with the Blue Circles near them come as foils, however, you only get 1 foil of that card even if the deck has multiples of the card (so like, you get 4 Star Lord Marth cards, but only 1 is foil). For the Marth deck the foils are: Promoted Marth Regular Marth Caeda Ogma Navarre Linde (sorry, I can't read Kanji, so all I know is the character names and not their titles) For the Chrom deck the foils are: Promoted Chrom Regular Chrom Miriel Frederick Sully Stahl Each deck only has 4 cards that only have 1 copy. For the Marth deck it's (I'm assuming promoted) Cain, Abel, Gordin, and Merric For the Chrom deck it's (again, assuming these are promoted versions) Robin (female), Lissa, Virion, and Lon'qu Every other card either comes in 2s or 3s, with the exception of Promoted Marth and Promoted Chrom which both come in 4s. Either way, only 5 cards in each deck are Starter Exclusive, and those are: Marth Deck: Promoted Marth (comes with 4) Caeda (comes with 2) Jagen (comes with 2) Ogma (comes with 3) Navarre (comes with 3) Chrom Deck: Promoted Chrom (comes with 4) Kellam (comes with 3) Vaike (comes with 3) Miriel (comes with 2) Ricken (comes with 2) But uhh, I could be wrong, I don't understand Japanese and I'm just going by what was stated and what I'm seeing in the lists, lol.
  14. Yup, it's not unusual for Promos in card games to just be alternative art versions of cards. This makes it so that you still get something special, but the effects of the card itself is still accessible to everyone. Honestly, it's better like that because otherwise you can get some pretty broken cards that are only accessible by top players (looks at the old DBZ card game which had insanely broken cards that only like top 16 at a major event could get). Sure, you could say they deserve those cards for doing well, but once someone gets one, they're just going to keep winning because they have that much of an advantage now over everyone else. An example of a really strong Promo Card that is hard to obtain is Tropical Beach in Pokemon (although I'm pretty sure it got rotated out of the new format, it was a very good card and almost necessary for certain decks, but you could only obtain it at the 2011 and 2012 World Championships). But that's basically what the New DBZ card game is doing right now. There's like 2 Promos that are unique (and they are/were worth quite a bit of money), but all the other Promos (the ones they give out at tournaments) are just alternate arts of other cards, but people still want them and go out to tournaments to get them. Either way, that Lucina art is amazing, but there's no way I'm buying a game I can't even play for it :( darn you, region lock. Awesome catch! They really are sneaky, lol, but ugh, I was really hoping that the Starter Exclusive cards would all come in groups of 4. Here's hoping that the one's you only get 2 of aren't that good, so I don't have to buy 2 of each Starter Deck (even though I doubt it, I bet they'll be some of the best cards in the decks, lol). Also, I might be wrong, but I think the character they mentioned is Nowi and not Nah? Either way, we haven't seen any Nowi cards yet either. Thanks again for all the updates! Just a little over 2 weeks left before everything's released. Sweeeeet, if you go on the 13th, then we'll probably need you to explain how the Bonds work and how many Units we can have down at once, lol. Also how attacking works and other small things that are still unexplained for whatever reason. I'm also a bit curious at the quality of the cards (I know that Japanese Vanguard and Weiss Schwarz cards are very thick, so I'm hoping that's the case for this game as well). But most of all, let us know if the card game is fun.
  15. Ooh, thanks for the clarification, I was wondering why the Marth card had said "ally units". And thanks for the response, it's very surprising that some pretty simple, yet very important rules still elude us, lol. Like re-flipping bonds would totally change whether some of these cards are good or not. Thanks again for your time!
