Which generation of Fire Emblem games had the best artstyle?
Yexin replied to Revier's topic in General Fire Emblem
i honestly wouldn't complain at all if Senri Kita was the only character illustrator for the rest of FE's lifespan, i love her artstyle that much i must say that i find the GBA's artstyle the most iconic one for FE, but i voted for the Gamecube/Wii era because i think it's a direct evolution of the GBA's -
in general, my favorites tend to be among: Gallade (and Mega Gallade, he looks like he came out of Saint Seiya), Gardevoir, Altaria, Chimecho, Scizor, Rhydon, Ninetales (both OG and Alola), Suicune, Lugia, Frosmoth, Feraligatr, Espeon, Kingdra, Xatu, Dragonair and Arcanine

it's the first thing i read this morning when i woke up, it's really crazy; while i've not been much of a Dragonball fan as of recent years, i used to always watch it on tv as a kid, and i still have DB cards (and lamincards, although i think it's pretty much an italy-only thing) and pencil cases, excercise books and binders that i used in first grade, and i also started drawing by tracing DB illustrations of all the tweets i read today, the one who surprised me the most was one which showed a comment made by Toriyama in '82 about Kurumada (author of Saint Seiya/Knights of the Zodiac), where he essentially said he loves Kurumada's manly mangas but there's also a comment made in 2002 by Kurumada where he says Toriyama is a genius, and also says "if he's a golden egg, then i'm an iron egg, that needs to be constantly polished or it'd start to rust, and that only through effort and dedication he can shine as much as Toriyama" considering Kurumada is considered by many the single manga author who defined the standards for modern shōnen manga, that's pretty crazy also, Akihiro Hino, president of Level 5 (Layton series, Inazuma Eleven series etc.) said that when his studio was chosen to develop Dragon Quest VIII, Toriyama himself showed up at Hino's house to discuss about the game besides this, it simply amazes me how many creative minds, not just manga authors, this single person touched and inspired

well i was mainly speaking about the graphics and aesthetics in general, i'm not really fond of how FE games with 3D graphics look but yeah, i've seen some trailers and while i somewhat get some FE feelings from Unicorn Overlord, it's clear it's not a carbon copy of FE games also, owl lady

i still haven't played the demo, and i don't think i will, but i'm really looking forward to this it's pretty close to what i'd like modern FE games to look like, so that's a bonus too

i don't have huge demands (imho), i'd just like to see a few newcomers from series i really like these would be any non-Sekiro Fromsoftware main character (Chosen Undead, Cursed One, Good Hunter, Champion of Ash or Tarnished, i'm fine with any of these ones) and any Trails main character (either Estelle, (Kevin) Lloyd, Rean or Van (haven't played Kuro yet) whether it's with a whole new game or a re-release with new contents, i don't really care

I just hope Inazuma Eleven Victory Road is shown, even shortly would be fine

What realistic aspects of history do you want to see?
Yexin replied to Hrothgar777's topic in General Fire Emblem
i think i'd like it if they picked a certain historical period and location with its culture and made it "fire emblem-ized" what i mean by this incredibly imprecise and generic line is, i'd love it if they, for instance, decided the new game would be set in a FE version of 16th century europe, and actually stayed coherent with the armor, weapon and outfit design of 16th century europe, same goes if they decided to pick east-asian or middle-east countries if some elements are not coherent, they should be given a proper reason why, like armors and weapons created with old designs as inspirations this would definitely require a certain amount of research, something i'm not confident they'd make -
when I think about FE's artistic design, the GBA and Tellius games always come to my mind first, they're the games I associate FE with, from an aesthetic point of view and while I love Senri Kita's style, my personal favorite aesthetic for FE is Genealogy's, i adore the mixture of fantasy noble clothings + pieces of armors (mainly shoulders) many characters have, the way the hub castles look, i love everything of that game's visual elements (also, i love the 90's character artstyle in general) the worst, for me, is a tie between 3H and Fates: the former because to me it looks incredibly boring, soulless and artificially "fresh", and the latter because i see it as a buch of weird stuff that they put together (also i'm damn tired of Kozaki)

So why did you choose your username and profile picture?
Yexin replied to ARMADS!!!'s topic in Entertainment
Yexin is an NPC for a FE fangame I thought I'd make like 10 years ago, and to this day it's still just an idea because I know absolutely nothing about modding or whatever's necessary to make such a thing I know almost nothing of chinese, but the name is supposed to mean "Feral Heart", though I must say I used google translate to come up with this name so it's most likely wrong The propic is a just as old drawing of her, first I drew it on paper then traced and added colors thanks to a free drawing app A few years ago I tried to master a Pathfinder campaign where I reused a lot of the ideas for that FE fangame, including this character We never got past 5 sessions because of various problems -
Am I The Only One That Thought Elfire Was Fire From Elves?
Yexin replied to Randoman's topic in General Fire Emblem
others already mentioned this, but the italian versions are indeed called "elf's fire", "elf's thunder" and "elf's wind", but I always thought of elves in FE as some kind of magical creatures possibly mentioned in fairy tales, much like Puck from Berserk but now I really want a "Fire Emblem - The Lord of the Rings Edition" game though -
Is the first game you play in a series always your favorite?
Yexin replied to Zapp Branniglenn's topic in General Gaming
my experience is: Pokémon, first played FireRed, it IS my favorite pokémon game to replay, but my favorite pokemon in general is Platinum Dark Souls, first played DS1, and i think that it's the best DS game overall, but I like DS3 better Kingdom Hearts, first played KH1 and it is indeed the one i like the most story-wise, but gameplay is of course better in KH2, so I'd say overall I like KH" better Final Fantasy, my order was 1, 2 (interrupted), 5 (interrupted), 6, 7, 10 (interrupted), 15, 8 (interrupted), 9 (interrupted), 10 (completed), 8 again (interrupted again), 16, and my favorite is 10 Trails, played first CS1 then 2, the went back to the Sky trilogy, then Crossbell, then replayed CS1 and 2, continued with 3 and 4, still have to play Hajimari, but I honestly wouldn't be able to pick one as my favorite... i'd probably pick Sky the 3rd, so I guess I'll fall in love with Hajimari, according to what I've heard about it Bravely, played them in release order (Default, Second, Default 2), my favorite is Second Inazuma Eleven, played them in release order (1, 2 (both versions), 3 (all 3 versions), Go, Go 2, Go 3 is still japan-only), and my favorite overall is IE3, although I really like how the endgame of IE Go 2 plays Fire Emblem, my order was 7, 13, 8, 6, 4, 9, 10, 1, 2, 3, 5, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and my favorite is 9 God of War, i played them in release order (spin-offs included), and my favorite is GoW2 (GoW4 is interrupted and of course I haven't played GoW5 yet) there's probably more, but yeah i'm generally not among people who think their first game in a series is their favorite -
What are your thoughts on AI-generated works?
Yexin replied to indigoasis's topic in Serious Discussion
if an artist is scared that a soulless computer executing a mere prompt typed by some random dork who's most likely doing absolutely nothing with his life is taking their job, maybe they weren't as good an artist ast they thought to begin with -
What franchises would be better under another developer?
Yexin replied to Fabulously Olivier's topic in General Gaming
i guess Pokémon is such a braindead, uninteresting suggestion, that's why no one mentioned it yet i think Monoliths Soft would make for a good dev studio for this desperately aimless (aside from quick cash) franchise
