  1. it's the first thing i read this morning when i woke up, it's really crazy; while i've not been much of a Dragonball fan as of recent years, i used to always watch it on tv as a kid, and i still have DB cards (and lamincards, although i think it's pretty much an italy-only thing) and pencil cases, excercise books and binders that i used in first grade, and i also started drawing by tracing DB illustrations of all the tweets i read today, the one who surprised me the most was one which showed a comment made by Toriyama in '82 about Kurumada (author of Saint Seiya/Knights of the Zodiac), where he essentially said he loves Kurumada's manly mangas but there's also a comment made in 2002 by Kurumada where he says Toriyama is a genius, and also says "if he's a golden egg, then i'm an iron egg, that needs to be constantly polished or it'd start to rust, and that only through effort and dedication he can shine as much as Toriyama" considering Kurumada is considered by many the single manga author who defined the standards for modern shōnen manga, that's pretty crazy also, Akihiro Hino, president of Level 5 (Layton series, Inazuma Eleven series etc.) said that when his studio was chosen to develop Dragon Quest VIII, Toriyama himself showed up at Hino's house to discuss about the game besides this, it simply amazes me how many creative minds, not just manga authors, this single person touched and inspired
  2. well i was mainly speaking about the graphics and aesthetics in general, i'm not really fond of how FE games with 3D graphics look but yeah, i've seen some trailers and while i somewhat get some FE feelings from Unicorn Overlord, it's clear it's not a carbon copy of FE games also, owl lady
  3. i still haven't played the demo, and i don't think i will, but i'm really looking forward to this it's pretty close to what i'd like modern FE games to look like, so that's a bonus too
  4. i don't have huge demands (imho), i'd just like to see a few newcomers from series i really like these would be any non-Sekiro Fromsoftware main character (Chosen Undead, Cursed One, Good Hunter, Champion of Ash or Tarnished, i'm fine with any of these ones) and any Trails main character (either Estelle, (Kevin) Lloyd, Rean or Van (haven't played Kuro yet) whether it's with a whole new game or a re-release with new contents, i don't really care
  5. I just hope Inazuma Eleven Victory Road is shown, even shortly would be fine
  6. i think i'd like it if they picked a certain historical period and location with its culture and made it "fire emblem-ized" what i mean by this incredibly imprecise and generic line is, i'd love it if they, for instance, decided the new game would be set in a FE version of 16th century europe, and actually stayed coherent with the armor, weapon and outfit design of 16th century europe, same goes if they decided to pick east-asian or middle-east countries if some elements are not coherent, they should be given a proper reason why, like armors and weapons created with old designs as inspirations this would definitely require a certain amount of research, something i'm not confident they'd make
  7. when I think about FE's artistic design, the GBA and Tellius games always come to my mind first, they're the games I associate FE with, from an aesthetic point of view and while I love Senri Kita's style, my personal favorite aesthetic for FE is Genealogy's, i adore the mixture of fantasy noble clothings + pieces of armors (mainly shoulders) many characters have, the way the hub castles look, i love everything of that game's visual elements (also, i love the 90's character artstyle in general) the worst, for me, is a tie between 3H and Fates: the former because to me it looks incredibly boring, soulless and artificially "fresh", and the latter because i see it as a buch of weird stuff that they put together (also i'm damn tired of Kozaki)
  8. Yexin is an NPC for a FE fangame I thought I'd make like 10 years ago, and to this day it's still just an idea because I know absolutely nothing about modding or whatever's necessary to make such a thing I know almost nothing of chinese, but the name is supposed to mean "Feral Heart", though I must say I used google translate to come up with this name so it's most likely wrong The propic is a just as old drawing of her, first I drew it on paper then traced and added colors thanks to a free drawing app A few years ago I tried to master a Pathfinder campaign where I reused a lot of the ideas for that FE fangame, including this character We never got past 5 sessions because of various problems
  9. others already mentioned this, but the italian versions are indeed called "elf's fire", "elf's thunder" and "elf's wind", but I always thought of elves in FE as some kind of magical creatures possibly mentioned in fairy tales, much like Puck from Berserk but now I really want a "Fire Emblem - The Lord of the Rings Edition" game though
  10. my experience is: Pokémon, first played FireRed, it IS my favorite pokémon game to replay, but my favorite pokemon in general is Platinum Dark Souls, first played DS1, and i think that it's the best DS game overall, but I like DS3 better Kingdom Hearts, first played KH1 and it is indeed the one i like the most story-wise, but gameplay is of course better in KH2, so I'd say overall I like KH" better Final Fantasy, my order was 1, 2 (interrupted), 5 (interrupted), 6, 7, 10 (interrupted), 15, 8 (interrupted), 9 (interrupted), 10 (completed), 8 again (interrupted again), 16, and my favorite is 10 Trails, played first CS1 then 2, the went back to the Sky trilogy, then Crossbell, then replayed CS1 and 2, continued with 3 and 4, still have to play Hajimari, but I honestly wouldn't be able to pick one as my favorite... i'd probably pick Sky the 3rd, so I guess I'll fall in love with Hajimari, according to what I've heard about it Bravely, played them in release order (Default, Second, Default 2), my favorite is Second Inazuma Eleven, played them in release order (1, 2 (both versions), 3 (all 3 versions), Go, Go 2, Go 3 is still japan-only), and my favorite overall is IE3, although I really like how the endgame of IE Go 2 plays Fire Emblem, my order was 7, 13, 8, 6, 4, 9, 10, 1, 2, 3, 5, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and my favorite is 9 God of War, i played them in release order (spin-offs included), and my favorite is GoW2 (GoW4 is interrupted and of course I haven't played GoW5 yet) there's probably more, but yeah i'm generally not among people who think their first game in a series is their favorite
  11. Aimee, Elena, the Crusaders, some of the FE4 Dragon Gods (or even just Forseti), the other champions of Tellius (essentially Soan, but IIRC they're still keeping Deghinsea in alt hell), and Makalov because he deserves it also the best FE boss ever, SEEKER the raven laguz
  12. if an artist is scared that a soulless computer executing a mere prompt typed by some random dork who's most likely doing absolutely nothing with his life is taking their job, maybe they weren't as good an artist ast they thought to begin with
  13. i guess Pokémon is such a braindead, uninteresting suggestion, that's why no one mentioned it yet i think Monoliths Soft would make for a good dev studio for this desperately aimless (aside from quick cash) franchise
  14. Tifa over both Cloud and Sephiroth she could have a really cool combo-based moveset, similar to most of the fg characters already present, and she could actually have materia implemented in it, and also female character bonus points Rhea over Byleth overall neutral pick just like Byleth, could have a more interesting moveset compared to Bylet's "my sword has different hitboxes", implementing dragon breath (or beams i guess), claws, tail attacks and so on, and also female character bonus points Chun Li over Ryu i just like her more than Ryu, and also female character bonus points
  15. I agree with the statement saying a reboot of KH would make more good than bad to the franchise, but not in the way most might think essentially, i'd really appreciate it if KH went back to "a few original characters interacting with Disney and Square characters who are all more aware about stuff than them" i still love how Ariel's father warned Sora about the boy being nothing but bad news if he, as the Keyblade Master, wasn't able to control his powers, or how the Disney villains all agreet to the same evil plan, or how Cloud was deceived by Hades and then helped by Hercules, and so on and so forth, and IMHO that's what made the first KH game so magical, among other things
  16. premise: when i name a franchise or a title, i'm EXCLUSIVELY talking about the manga, not the anime (unless specified otherwise between brackets) Eikichi Onizuka, one of the best and most memorable characters in any japanese form of media loved him in Shōnan Jun'Ai Gumi (especially the latest volumes, where his character truly shines and develops) and he's an absolute badass in GTO (i'm ignoring the other manga series but not because I didn't like them, far from that) iconic, to say the least Alex Louis Armstrong in Fullmetal Alchemist, he's just so likeable and truly cares for everyone around him, even though he might be kinda invasive in doing that, and also the reason why he's still Major rank is heart-wrenching, which makes his warnings (threats, almost) to the Elric brothers even more meaningful Yoh Asakura and Hao in Shaman King: Yoh is the least "main character" main character in any anime/manga i've ever seen/read, and until the very end you're just never able to tell what's on his mind, almost as if he simply liked to "be" Hao is a perfect antagonist to the story and to Yoh in particular, and the fact that he seems to be basically invincible... yeah i'm not going further with this sentence there are many more i'd like to name and explain, but i simply don't have enough time to do that, so i'm just listing them: Kaneki Ken (Tokyo Ghoul), Mark Evans/Endou Mamoru and Shawn Froste/Fubuki Shirou (and pretty much everyone else) in Inazuma Eleven (anime and videogames), Ikari Shinji and Katsuragi Misato (anime), Akutsu Jun'Ya, Murakoshi Ayumi, Nagase Nagisa, Fujisaki Shinomi, Shindōji Fumiya, Kamata Jun, Saejima Toshiyuki, Kadena Nao, Aoki Mafuyu, Masaki Kyōsuke and Danma Ryūji (Shōnan Jun'Ai Gumi), Kanzaki Urumi (GTO), Frieren, Fern, Stark, Heiter, Himmel (Frieren: Beyond Journey's End), Roy Mustang, Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist), Kurokami Medaka, Hitoyoshi Zenkichi, Akune Kōki, Kumagawa Misogi, Emukae Mukae, Ajimu Najimi (Medaka Box) and many, many others no, i didn't have to look their names up
  17. yep, i love it too, it makes RD more special and unique
  18. Shadows of Valentia, for me i love everything about it: the music, the new character designs, the animations, the explorable dungeons, everything
  19. the meaning of the word "fan" is an incredibly broad and dispersive (just like the term itself) topic from which no one can truly claim to come out as being right the way i personally see it, what makes you a "fan" or "potential fan" of something bigger than a single production or piece of media is your attitude towards it: if you liked 3H a lot and created art/fanfiction/merchandise to show your love for it, but you have no intention to go back and experience other FE games because you're content with just having played 3H, then my opinion on the matter is that you're not a FE fa, you're just a FE3H fan; similarly, if someone only watched and greatly enjoyed The Shining but isn't interested in experiencing other Kubrick movies is simply a fan of that specific movie, rather than of Kubrick in general also, when you understand that you actually want to experience a franchise (for instance) as a whole, what allows you to bear the "real" fan label, is dedication i had this doubt myself when i first watched Evangelion and The End of Evangelion in like 2 days: even though i really liked those works, i didn't really know if i would've called myself a "fan" of Evangelion, having only passed 2 days since i actually decided to get into the franchise, when probably there are people who watched it when it first aired in 1995, bought tons and tons of merchandise, DVDs, figures, manga and the likes my conclusion is that i felt no need to label myself as a "fan", and let the passing of time decide it for me: now that i own a limited edition of the series and the movies (Rebuild aside), and 2 (yes, 2, but this is a story for another time and topic) different editions of the manga adaptation, in retrospective i think i can say i'm an Evangelion fan, because the way i express my appreciation for pieces of media, aside from talking about it with other fans or people who're trying to get into it themselves, is by spending money for its ... "physical memorabilia", i guess? i don't like Eva's figures, but i don't think i know how to express this with less words
  20. the way i see it about these kinds of arguments is: take movies, major directors in particular, like Kubrick, Spielberg and the likes; if you go and tell some Kubrick fans (and you know they're Kubrick fans) that you've just watched The Shining, then you might expect them not to call you a "real Kubrick fan" if you've never watched 2001 A Space Odissey, A Clockwork Orange or Full Metal Jacket i don't really know if your problem with this is people not accepting your "fan" lable about something, or just a principle thing, but in any case my opinion is that people in general should pick the people they decide to tell things more wisely of course you shouldn't always expect other fans or "experts" to judge you, and i'm not saying they're right if they do: all i'm just saying is that it happens, in potentially any fandom, and if people care/feel personally attacked/hurt about it so much and they can't take such trivial and totally ignorable opinions (because that's what they are, opinions), then they should understand when and where to keep their mouths shut, or else be ready to engage in an absolutely pointless and time-consuming argument in case the worst happens (read as: some people just so happen to not be in agreement with you) aside from that, yeah, nostalgia can be a beast, but i personally live with it by interpreting it as "past experiences that i appreciated and are very precious to me, that caused me to have certain tastes and opinions", tl;dr "i know what i like" tastes and opinions can definitely change with time, and that's normal, but in general, as long as it doesn't actually cause you to not be able to live in the present, i don't think nostalgia is inherently a bad thing
  21. Michalis and Karla look really good IMHO, especially Michalis i kinda wish Spring Karla was drawn by Kita, since OG and Desert Karla are as well, but i don't really mind too much, i like cuboon's style don't care about the other 3 in the slightest
  22. most honest answer is "it's just a gut feeling" if i were to elaborate, i'd say i feel like they already had Wave 1 and 2 pretty much ready to be released when the game itself launched, but i don't expect them to be THAT in advance, mostly due to Wave 4 i agree that Wave 3 could release in like a month, being it just 2 more Emblem Bracelets (as far as i know), but i expect Wave 4 to take at least 3 months to release after Wave 3
  23. i kind of expect Wave 3 to be released late spring and Wave 4 either late summer or early/half fall i'm not really taking how little time it took for them to release Wave 1 and 2, i think they're exceptions
  24. i'm usually quite torn between Rhydon, Suicune, Lugia, Altaria, Gardevoir and Gallade (also Quaquaval with Gen 9), but if i were to pick only one, i think that would be Gallade (Mega Gallade included)
  25. oh, i see, then i get why you put remakes and remasters together well, technically Metroid Prime Remastered is... not a remaster, but also not a 100% remake i honestly had a gut feeling, when it was announced during the last Direct, that this was another "Crash N-Sane Trilogy" case, where the game is advertised as a remaster, only to make fans understand that the game is pretty much the same as the old one, but with new graphics... and it actually was: Metroid Prime Remastered not only changes a lot of graphical assets (models, textures, etc), but it also features a completely reworked lighting system, along with many other tweaks to its general graphical and gameplay aspects but apparently Metroid Prime Remastered also reuses some parts of the original game's code, making this not a 100% remade game, kinda like Crisis Core FFVII Reunion with only its graphical assets and combat system being actually remade from scratch about FFVIIR, i agree with you when you say that it basically implies that the player knows what the original FFVII was about, but that's a story matter maybe i explained myself poorly in my previous comment, but what i meant with the "let's pretend we're making this game for the first time because we want players to experience something new, fresh and maybe even unexpected" part is that they approached the remaking process as if FFVII, from a technical PoV, was being made in 2020 for the first time, with a modern philosophy (action gameplay rather than turn-based), and while yes, the narrative elements of the game require a certain degree of knowledge of the original game, that doesn't quite concern the "remake/remaster" discussion, i think
