  1. I've never cared for minmaxing feather gains since I get enough from playing VGs normally as is. I always choose based on favorites, if only out of principle since there isn't really any significantly different reward between winners and losers. It's, what, a 1500 feather difference on average? You could easily get that from an average full summoning session or two.
  2. I'm not particularly invested in Dragalia, but I like what the collab could mean. Heroes hasn't had any collabs yet, and even though there's nothing of Dragalia coming to Heroes itself (that we know off atm), the fact that Heroes is participating in any collab in the first place is a great sign. Before now, they haven't participated in or received a crossover or event of any kind. The "closest thing" we've gotten so far is the Warriors maps, but the only actual Warriors content we got was the splash art for the maps. Even if we don't end up getting any Dragalia characters in Heroes, it opens up the opportunity for more collabs in the future where we may actually get characters and events from other games or series.
  3. My pride and joy. He really shouldn’t be max merged like this. It was just sheer, beautiful dumb luck. I’m also quite proud of finally being able to finish my Eirika build, but I’m still grinding the SP for it.
  4. For paired accessories: They were already supported before the accessories were released and it turns out that they look great together and also fit really well. As for single favorite, I have not and never will find a better combination. Edit: Whoops on the image sizes. Resizing is such a pain.

  6. Which is exactly the point. See below Xander doesn't take any strides to help with her behavior because he, for the large part, doesn't see anything wrong with it. Xander himself specifically picked Peri of all people to be his retainer because of how ruthless she was as a fighter. This is Nohr's normal. This is what Xander knows. Obligatory Fates writing complaints aside, Peri might not be the best character, but she is a great allegory of how truly dark Nohr's setting is.
  7. 304/348 unique heroes owned. Unsure about number of non-5 Stars in that group. Been playing since a week after release. Non-f2p (aka, unfortunately not a luckshitter). 324 currently in barracks. I always keep one copy of each 5 Star and at least one copy of any Star rarity of non-5 Stars for eventual promotion. Barracks generally stays pretty clean. Aside from the above, the only extras I keep are 3-4 Stars with good boons/better boons for overwriting. Everything else becomes a manual to save space and the trouble of more scrolling. Regarding feather distribution and inheritance, I'm usually pretty reserved about spending feathers to avoid spur of the moment decisions leaving me devoid of feathers when I need them. All +10 projects remain stagnant until I either have enough feathers to make a couple promotions to get the ball rolling or I have enough copies and feathers to finish it in one fell swoop. 5 Star promotions for inheritance usually isn't prioritized due to the sheer amount of feathers it takes just to promote a unit only to toss them to someone else.
  8. Fliers are my favorite, largely due to the freedom of movement they allow. Having such unrestrained access across all maps is a godsend considering how small the maps are. It's also really fun to troll through kiting and various warping shenanigans. Cavs and Armors are both kind of at the bottom for me. The former is largely because it's lacking in available units in general, especially Axes. The latter would probably rank much higher if Armor March was more accessible. Mobility doesn't have to be top priority all the time, but their limited movement options make it annoying to set up and back out when necessary. All others are ranked about the same, save for Beasts since we only have a select few currently available to us. They all allow for a lot of flexibility, either due to sheer numbers of options (like Infantry) or broader team comps (like Tactics teams).
  9. It's not a matter of whether it's safe now so much as it is a matter of what takes priority. We always have, at the very least, 9 copies available to us after including the numbers for a full +10 merge. But between the fairly slow rate at which we're receiving Grails and the hefty costs per unit the further along you go, it often doesn't feel worth it to prioritize foddering a unit over keeping them for a merge, and this is only taking a single unit into consideration. Just max merging one unit alone can cost upwards of almost 3000 Grails. Add consideration for foddering into the mix and the costs are too high to justify wanting to waste that much of such a rare resource on a simple fodder. If the rate at which we received Grails were higher OR the cumulative costs were reduced than it might be worth considering fodder material over merge material, but because BOTH factors are currently working against you, it doesn't.
  10. Now obviously the Heroic Ordeals haven't been added yet, so any guesses about its features would be pure speculation at this point, but a couple of its features open an opportunity for something Heroes can do, but I'm not convinced it will: One thing Heroes has missed is the chance to do is what I'm sure many people have wanted to get out of the game: getting to experience characters, both new and old, for vets and newbies alike. Unfortunately, it hasn't provided as much character building as (presumably) most people were hoping. All we have is a short blurb under their name and a small handful of voiced clips. That's it. Perhaps my problem is that I frequently find myself comparing Heroes to other games with a similar format (i.e. gacha), not too find superiority of any game over another, but as a point of reference for comments and criticisms. One feature that's often seen is a character story, unlocked when you own the character's unit, and typically requiring some kind of support bond or unit level to unlock. It doesn't always have to be a doorstopper; some nice little exposition on a character's backstory would suffice. Sadly, this is something Heroes is missing and it's something it could really benefit from. Which is where Heroic Ordeals come in. What we know so far: 1) Unlocking an Ordeal requires owning the related Hero 2) The battles in each Ordeal are specifically tailored toward the related Hero 3) They give out Dragon Flowers as rewards Going by the previous statements, its features follow the pattern of typical character stories and would open up the opportunity to provide the character building the game has been lacking in. The question is if we're going to be getting anything like that out of this new mode. The short explanation of it in the latest FEH Channel, along with the corresponding notification, doesn't seem to imply that there will be anything other than battle(s) involved, which seems like, well, a missed opportunity. Thoughts?
  11. Legendary Ephraim's intro banner was (possibly) the worst luck I've had on any banner. Among the few good results was a +Spd, -Hp Summer Corrin. As a collector, my initial reaction was more "cool, got another Hero" and less "hey, she's a pretty cool unit," but on a whim I decided to give her a Bladetome and put her on a Flier team I threw together. I had never tried making a movement-type based team before, but Corrin, along with a recent off focus Hinoka pull gave me the motivation to try one out. Flier Emblem turned to be really fun to use and is my most used team composition outside of my main team. I'm not sure if I could say they're still MVPs to this day, mostly because my Flier teams vary based on necessity, but I still get good use out of them and they still have a fond spot as the unwitting catalysts for branching out in my playstyle.
  12. Ooh boy. Whether a list of 5, 20 or 100, I don't think I could pick specifics either way but I'd say a majority of my favorites are in. Of those who aren't in yet but would likely be up there on the list would be Jill, Altena, Python and Shura.
  13. Understandable. In this case, it seems the designs are merely victims of FE's more modern decorated visual choices. Echoes stands out, as it did a good job with providing its atmosphere without being overly flashy, though I imagine that's due to it wanting to keep the more classic feel of Gaiden.
  14. Poor wording on my part. I meant more about the setting than the visuals itself, as the designs are still quite stylized, but it's different than what we usually see. It's not yet another king of some stone castle, or two armies, clad in metallic armor, clashing in some open field or gratuitous dragons. We're literally dealing with the world of the dead. It sets a different mood than the series is used to seeing, more along the lines of Jugdral, albeit less Grimdark and more Punk. It's a tone that the Jugdral duology did well, but afterwards it never stuck around as a front and center theme. Though I have concerns that the story will be Grimdark lite, it's an underexplored tone that I'm glad to see them returning to, however short or long its stay may be.
  15. I never liked the mindset that automatically dismisses death metal, or other similar sounding music, in atypical environments in a series and the like as "emo phase teenager crap." Doing so only serves to generalize the genre and eliminates the notion that it can leave any genuine impact. Honestly, it's a welcome change from the usual medieval fantasy aesthetic (see also: Fates). Not sure if I'd want this kind of music to be a regular occurrence, though. It fits the theme of the new Book, but it's not something that would fit the series on a larger scale, that is unless it fit the game's central environment or was otherwise used in a context where it made sense.

  17. Effective =/= Good Don't get me wrong. Surtr was a very welcome threat in the slow lull that was the story's progress as far as actions are concerned. He got stuff done and did it without stalling for chapters at a time, but that's as far as the extent of his "character" went. He had zero motivation and zero backstory. He was just a massive fireball of destruction, figuratively and literally, in the shape of a person. If anything good did come from his character, it's the characterizations of other characters as foils to him, for differing reasons, those being Laegjarn and Helbindi.
  18. MEAT. I would add meat. Say whatever you want about how good or bad the various modes are, but what this game needs is content. MODES Various new modes have been added throughout the past year, but they have all added only so much: - Forging Bonds is nice but the grind outweighs the rewards it gives out. - Grand Conquests is the closest we currently have to proper FE gameplay atm, but it's short and participation is limited to a strict stamina system and a currency with limited quantity - Voting Gauntlets are feather generators that are only good for their solid quest rewards. They could be interesting if winning meant anything, but all it nets is a whopping extra 500 feathers. - Tap Battle is unique but there's no worth in replaying it, except for a fast-ish HM grind - Relay Defense is a nice take on Grand Conquests, and I welcome it as a fan of defense maps, but it puts too much emphasis on the defense part. The inflated stats really discourage you from getting to aggressive to be able to, at the very least, try to pick off a couple threats before you get overwhelmed. Most of the time, you're better of hunkering down on your camp spawn and hoping you don't explode, which doesn't really encourage gameplay. - Tempest Trials is the only consistently good rotating mode we have, between the marathon challenge and plethora of rewards. MOST WANTED - Beast units. A major update has been confirmed to happen around the end of the year. As this has been highly requested, I will reserve judgment until then. - 5 Star demotions. (see above). Now for an actual suggestion: I've given thought to a permanent summoning pool of only 3 and 4 Star units, added as a way to help circumvent the problem of the increasing pool numbers. As an incentive to pull on this banner, focuses will rotate daily and will cost less then the main banners, for a flat rate of 3 Orbs per summon. This could be an addition to make up for the conspicuous lack of 4 Star fodder focus banners that we used to get. MISCELLANEOUS:- The story is very bare bones in terms of writing and gameplay. We get a couple short maps per chapter and that's it. I'm not expecting a doorstopper of a story, nor do I want one, but there could be more. At its current pace, it could be finished in its entirety during a single bathroom break, possibly even by the time you climb the stairs to get to said break.- The Arena meta is predictable and the scoring system has gotten worse. I'd say that the first thing they do is get rid of the BST scoring, but the inclusion of the Duel skills seems to cement that this is never going to change, therefore limiting the improvements it can ever get in the future.- They've been all over the place with alts. Sometimes we get good game representative distribution. Sometimes we get a gender equal ratio on the banners, but then they go back to repeating problems. There's also been uneven representation of the various games in the series, from seasonal units and regular units alike, but we just got a notification that Binding Blade and Radiant Dawn, the most requested games aside from Gaiden, are getting banners early next year. I wasn't expecting them to openly acknowledge the problem, which is kind of sad that they had to outright tell us like that. With that in mind, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially considering the development process takes a lot of planning in advance. In a few months, this opinion will be re-evaluated. Apologies if this seems less of an ideas post and more of a rant of sorts. I'm not an ideas person. This honestly hurts to write as I still love playing the game, but I can be realistic about things, too.
  19. The gameplay and music seem to go without saying. I like how the class system was implemented in Fates. Giving everyone a starting class and secondary class was a good baseline. The inclusion of Friend and Partner Seals allowed for enough customization without turning everyone into a master of all like Robin. Skills and battle calculations felt a lot more technical this time around, between flat boosts and effective speed changes, which made things feel more intelligent and precise, as befits the role of a tactician. I'm not going to laud Fates on its characterizations as a whole, but a few characters stand out to me, even though they may not show explicitly in the game: - Peri. I'm not going to justify her actions, but her character is a good example of how Nohr works as a whole (which I briefly explained before, but can't quite remember on which post atm). - Flora and Shura. They're two of the more notable side characters with interesting, unexplored backstories. - Camilla, and by extension, Xander, Leo and Elise. I listed Camilla first as she most visibly shows the effects of the infighting that occurred, further expressing the issues within Nohr itself. - Oboro, aka, Jill lite. Bigotry is still bigotry, but hers is portrayed with enough realism to make her one of the more fleshed out characters in Fates, with less digging required to understand too. - Sakura. Perhaps it's because I sympathize with her shyness and such, but she felt like one of the most normal characters in the whole cast. Her stammering, her awkward body motions and her less boisterous expressions all contributed to a down-to-earth personality that felt realistic.
  20. If they bring the Breaker skills back, I'd like to see the Heroes' versions over previous iterations. They're a lot more interesting and require more creativity to get around than a simple stat change.
  21. It's kind of sad that it's at a point that they have to tell us outright that these games haven't been forgotten. Still, they're finally communicating with us about the favoritism and the sheer fact that they've acknowledged it is (hopefully) a sign that this variety will be a more common occurrence going forward, and that the listed banners aren't the only two we'll be seeing. I'll take it. A baby step forward is more progress than a step to the side.
  22. Am I expecting the best game in the series? No. Am I worried? No. I personally have little qualms with the series' 3DS appearances and I (hopefully) am not in such a majority level as the community seems to think. So as to not derail this topic, I won't list the specific problems/concerns I do have; they are subjective and/or do not/will likely not apply to Three Houses anyway. For now, I'll simply sit back in restrained anticipation and concentrate on other games to avoid getting burned from over-hyping.
  23. 1 & 2) I don't mind an Avatar in the game, but I'd rather they have less of an impact on the story. The last two we got were interesting from a gameplay standpoint, but they both got a lot of player worship. Maybe it's due to their huge role in the story. Maybe it's the whole "friendly bonds of friendly friendship" shtick that made everyone love them. I don't mind them being liked, just tone it down a bit. The closest to an ideal Avatar, imo, would be a mix of Kris and Robin - They could have starting class options, which could be explained as simply as 'trained to be x when they were young' or some generic backstory explanation - Supports. Royals, non-royals, different species and people from different places all over the FEverse have all had supports with each other in the past. They don't need to be a main character in order to support with everyone. That's how normal interactions work. - They don't need to have a major role in the story. I wouldn't be against it, but if they're going to gush all over the player again, then I don't want to see it. Have them make an impact, to make them feel needed, but not to the point that the fate of the world hinges solely on their survival and success 3) I enjoy both a good story and good gameplay, but I see it this way: The first playthrough of a game leaves quite the impression. It's your first experience. You don't know how it plays, but are eager to learn and to try things out. You don't know where the story will go next or the twists that lie ahead, but you eventually see it and you're mind will be blown, it'll knock your socks off and it'll blow your mindsocks away. This continues until the game ends. It's a pretty even experience on both sides. Then, maybe somewhere down the line, be it a few months, a few days or 5 seconds ago, you decide to play again. Playing involves active participation. It's something you have to think and react to in order to continue the game. Then, you start to read the story and begin to get excited, until you realize that you've seen this dialogue already. In fact, you've seen all the dialogue already (for the purpose of this explanation the story is assumed to be linear). There's nothing new. There are no surprises. Granted, some games have a level of writing that are emotionally gripping on every playthrough, but I don't expect it with every game. If I wanted to re-experience a game with great gameplay, but a bad or otherwise uninteresting story, a story is easy to skip past or ignore in order to get right back to the action. If I wanted to re-experience a game with an amazing story, but bad or boring gameplay, I'd still have to trudge through that slog. At that point, I'd prefer watching someone else play it. That way I could enjoy the story while getting to see someone else's reactions and particular gameplay style. I play games to play the game, but if a story happens to be interesting to some degree, than I simply see it as an enjoyable added bonus.
  24. All votes for Ranulf or Tibarn. If I have to put aside my favorite unit bias to contribute to the greater cause of finally getting beast units added to the game, then it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Now for an actual answer, in no particular order: 1. Marth. The split voting system screwed him over. Twice. Third time's the charm, right? 2. Anna. ♪ Biaaaas ♪ 3. Ranulf or Tibarn. Regardless of whether they're in the game or not, I still like the laguz and these two have the best chance at getting a top spot. 4. Camilla. While I wanted her to win one of the top spots in CYL2, I will gladly concede defeat as I am content with Celica and Veronica taking the win instead. 5. Owain. I'd vote for Odin, but Owain seems to be more popular so I'll stick with the safer option. 6. Micaiah. ♪ More biaaaas ♪ 7. L'Arachel. I forgot that I voted for her in CYL2, so I'll throw her in here as a random pick.
  25. All of the above, but mostly the first 3: 1) OCs - We haven't gotten another OC Legendary since Gunnthra. Even though they both are lacking a bit in characterization, I like that the Legendary banners were a way to introduce more OCs into the game/story. 2) Lords - Very common, to the surprise of no one. Lords are important in the series, so they should rightfully get the recognition they deserve. However, I kind of wish they'd mix up the variety and have more non-Lords be Legendaries. 3) Major characters - Tiki is a great example of a prevalent character in the series who is just as important as Lords, some even more so. She's certainly not the only one in that role, too. IS could get really creative with others who would be considered a non-Lord major character with great impact throughout the FE-verse's history. 4) Obscure - The phrase "not gonna happen" is staring me right in the face when I think about this category being considered, but I'd be interested in how they'd go about choosing characters for it.
