  1. No, they won't, so you shouldn't touch any of the dancers on the map at all until you've gotten those.
  2. I won't claim that the B route is superior to the A route, but I did have more fun playing through the B route. 17B was one of my favorite chapters in the game, and I thought the ballistae in that one were a lot less annoying than the ones in both A route chapters.
  3. Value everyone who can use staves, especially if they have relatively high staff ranks. High-level staves will ultimately be the most powerful thing in the game. When you start getting them, conserve S Drinks as much as you possibly can. Don't overuse the awesome personal weapons you get, especially the ones you have in the first chapter. Even if you're not a completionist, don't skip any of the gaiden chapters (except for maybe the last one); the stuff you get from them is invaluable. If someone is holding a scroll (you start getting these three chapters in), they can't be hit by criticals. Enemy criticals are fairly rare, but as long as you're careful with scroll distribution, you can always be sure. Because stats cap at 20, early promotion won't hurt you all that much in this game, especially not for mages who have insane promotion gains.
  4. This one. http://www.serenesforest.net/media/fe5ost/212%20Sorrow.mp3 I noticed it uses the melody from the FE3 "love theme", so I'm curious to know if it was unused or just used in some missable cutscene.
  5. I remember having trouble with getting Lachesis to talk to Eltshan in chapter 3. After a ton of failures, I just went "screw it" and had her walk straight into the middle of Eltshan's squad to talk to him. On the next enemy phase, all the enemies went after Sigurd and Lex even though they could have killed Lachesis in one or two hits. I don't understand FE4's AI at all.
  6. I just wanted to hijack this topic for a second to ask a question about chapter 15. Is there any trick to taking out the boss, Zile, without resorting to Asvel and Grafcalibur or a sleep staff (which would require a repair staff use)? I tried getting him to use his bow and then ganging up on him with four characters with consecutive-attack weapons, but his evasion is so high that I could only land one out of eight hits, and then he killed everyone anyway.
  7. If you're fine with missing out on the lower thief's items, you can have Karin fly someone decent over to the lower village to get the item there. You can also just send one strong character to take out the ballista north of your starting point, get rid of the armor blocking the bridge ASAP, and have another strong character rush to the other village. Personally I wouldn't use Dagda to bait ballistae. I guess it must be a valid strategy, because a lot of other people recommend it, but every time I tried it, Charge activated and Dagda got killed. If you're really, really patient, you could just sit around and let the ballistae wear themselves out on your most durable characters. I don't think the villages are hard to get to in time as long as you have at least two characters who can hold out on their own for a few turns. Capturing the thieves is much harder.
  8. Manfroy probably wasn't as powerful a sorcerer as Garnef. Remember, Garnef did spend a long time training under an actual dragon, and he even had access to the five orbs.
  9. I just had everyone in Selphina's group escape except for Selphina herself (although in retrospect I think I should have left Robert out there instead, maybe). Then I left her on the escape tile and had Karin bring her a scroll so I could deal with the main army myself.
  10. There is a patch that translates the menus, but it doesn't translate the story. If you're willing to just stick with the game script on the main website, you could go with that.
  11. I'm willing to admit that I was wrong about that, but wasn't it accepted that Pan's name doesn't have to be Parn even though it also uses the vowel extension? Even if that fits here, I guess I have to withdraw the "egregious" statement.
  12. People might be used to Barhara, but I don't think many people would argue that a retranslation of the game shouldn't fix it (which I think the new FE4 patch did, and no one really complained, so this might not be a great example. I just brought this up because I only learned about the new FE4 patch twenty minutes ago, and because Barhara stands out to me as the most egregiously wrong translation). I don't think that something wrong shouldn't be changed just because it's already ingrained in the fanbase. Another example would be like how in Earthbound, there's a character named Pokey. He shows up in the sequel, Mother 3, and it becomes pretty clear that his name was always intended to be Porky; Pokey was just a translation error (or Nintendo's localization staff got creative). The people in charge of the Mother 3 fan translation went with Porky even though a large amount of the fanbase wanted them to stick with Pokey just because they grew up with that name, but I always thought the fan translators made the right choice. I might be kind of anal about this because even I kind of disagree with some of the choices in the new FE4 patch (although I love one that people complained about), so I don't really expect a lot of people to agree with me. I just wanted to voice my opinion.
  13. I kind of got here late and I don't have much to add, but I really dislike the "people are all used to these names already, why bother changing them?" sentiment. People would complain if an FE4 retranslation used Barhara instead of Valhalla, right? I was kind of disappointed when I read that the old FE4 translation got a ton of place names wrong, and I was sort of annoyed at the FE5 patch when I guessed that Wiseman was supposed to be Weissman (which is really anal because he's such a bit character, I know, but still). I'd love to see a professionally done translation that took great care in keeping all of the names and terminology accurate, so although I'm not totally sure if I agree with everything in the first post, I agree with your ideals.
  14. I kind of want the Master Axe in chapter 14. Is it worth a Thief staff use?
  15. The third DLC character is Claire from Fire Emblem Gaiden. Pretty interesting.
