  1. I posted a list of possible tile edits earlier in the thread. Making the name fit only ends up requiring one extra tile, and there are multiple redundant/unused tiles that can be used for that purpose.
  2. Luthier isn't particularly difficult to fit in with a few edits to the tiles that compose the game's text. It's basically the same thing that was done so that Matilda could fit.
  3. Do you have more than 10 characters in Alm's party? I remember running into an issue where the codes were affecting somebody in Alm's party instead, because having more than 10 characters bumped Celica's party down a few slots. For example, if there were 11 characters in Alm's party, the slot 1 code for Celica's party would affect the 11th character in Alm's party, the slot 2 code would affect the first character in Celica's party, and so on.
  4. Thanks for implying that ignoring the intent of the original script and producing a straight translation somehow constitutes good localization.
  5. I never said it was a technical issue he couldn't overcome, I said it wasn't worth the effort to overcome. Making up "weird" names takes less effort than leaving them with their real names.
  6. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm saying it's not feasible due to the way the nickname is currently implemented. Sure, it could be changed, but it's not worth going through all that effort to change it when it's pretty much fine as it is. This is an English patch, so oniichan has no place in it. Instead, bookofholsety decided to keep the spirit of what Fee was saying by using a nickname. It's called localization. The thing about Vergil that made people so irrationally angry was that the original Japanese name was completely ignored and replaced with something else. That's not in any way analogous to this.
  7. Are you sure? I'm pretty sure I remember seeing something bookofholsety wrote where he mentions that he had to use the -sy suffix because whatever he picked would be used with both Ced and Hawke, and that was one of the few suffixes that would work for both. What the hell is it with you and Vergil? This particular comparison doesn't even make any sense.
  8. If I recall correctly, when displaying the nicknames, the game just displays Ced/Hawke's name and throws a suffix on the end, so implementing this wouldn't be feasible.
  9. I guess the point about prose could be considered, but the rest of Alandrage's point was just whining about names. That isn't worth any form of consideration, especially when you consider that holsety has already claimed several times that he does not give a shit about names and won't be changing them. I didn't mean to be disrespectful towards the people responsible for the old translation, I just wanted to counter the notion that it was fine as it was. I apologize if I came off that way. I wasn't talking about you; you're offering constructive criticism (although the fact that you're doing it now when the script has already been inserted instead of the period of time where he specifically had his script open for proofreading is kind of odd). Alandrage, on the other hand, was just being a dick, and the fact that his whining happened to contain one piece of criticism that could be considered valid doesn't make it okay.
  10. The old translation included shit like Lewyn's shrink quote and Arden steadily devolving into a caveman over the course of the first generation. Most of the name changes were from Awakening and therefore out of holsety's hands. The only name changes he did himself were just fixing mistranslations like Tailto/Tiltyu and Corple. Why do you feel the need to complain about something someone did of their own accord, completely for free?
  11. I would avoid using longer names if it can be avoided. Names with more than 4 characters cause glitchy behaviour. Mae is her official name as given by Awakening.

  13. Yes. Keep in mind when doing Route A that Ilios can only be recruited if Olwen is dead or wasn't recruited. Another thing to keep in mind that has nothing to do with the route split is that Saias and Ced cannot both be recruited in the same playthrough.
  14. Isn't Claude talking about the king of Isaach there, who is dead at that point?
