  1. Without the electoral college, the country's president is decided entirely by New York and California. If you're from a big city in one of those large states I can see why you would favor abolishing the electoral college, but if not I think you are unwittingly leaving the fate of the nation in the hands of the increasingly whimsical populations of those states. It might be scary that the system in place is functional, and I understand that your side losing has made you anxious for radical change, but you have to be willing to look at the larger picture. Many Americans will simply not have a voice in this representative republic in the scenario in which you abolish the electoral college. Before you make assumptive non-arguments directed at me: I am not a Republican.
  2. You do not need to write that much in this discussion, I think. Don't overdo it.
  3. Edelgard's voice changed since that first trailer. I don't think Tara Platt (Plat? Mitsuru's voice actor) is the singer for the song any longer. That leads me to believe it's still Cristina Vee, who was the old voice actor for that first trailer if I recall correctly.
  4. Why are you nerd lamers talking about Pokemon when we should be discussing the esteemed Fire Emblem Fates? Who cares which starter is best in Gen 1? Also who cares about who is better between three really bad units (the FE8 trainees)? They are all garbage so you shouldn't use them unless you like headbands, pink or shotacon. Even if you like those things you shouldn't use those awful units. Anyway, Takumi is a loser and he's only good because of his bow. Just use Reina if you want to use bows in Birthright. Setsuna is better than him after some growing but who the fuck cares, Setsuna still isn't good or worth using in her base class. Just make her a ninja if you want to use her.
  5. Bernadetta dresses up as a Venus Fly Trap, but stays in her room anyway. She even puts her feet in a big, fake pot. Petra dresses as something from Brigid folklore, and no one really understands the costume but it's still scary.
  6. If you mean "they don't exist at all,' then yes that's true, but if you mean 'if Edelgard took them out,' then no, that's ridiculous. My point was that Edelgard didn't have the option to 'just kill them all bro lol' because the political situation is more complex than that. Assuming that Those Who Slither in the Dark exist, Dimitri cannot get anything meaningful done by way of reform before being killed as Lambert was. To say otherwise is pure conjecture that defies what we know from the story. "Claude is friends with Dimitri, Edelgard, and Byleth" does not excuse that he just bails, never to be heard from again... You're not being very coherent. I can't really argue with you if you say several, barely connected things.
  7. Her desire to unify* Fodlan. And, no, without the war Claude would have fucked off to Almyra anyway and Dimitri would have probably been assassinated for trying anything in the name of "reform."
  8. Assassin and Bow Knight are far too low. Also, Wyvern Lord is better than rider. C lances is a non-issue to reach (like C anything else) and the cost of a master seal isn't that important.
  9. It's not too bad. The only real difficulty is from bosses thanks to their ridiculous throne bonuses.
  10. +Mag -Lck with Corrin and Kana as Diviners so they can get Rally Magic to make Ophelia better.
  11. I don't have a problem with Byleth, but I think this would have been really cool too, and another homage to FE4 - your first lord is a beastly mounted pre-promote who dies in the story. More importantly, Jeralt is a bro who deserves more characterization. Byleth (Jeralt's child) can still be a character, just not the main playable character - perhaps he's a young child pre-timeskip and post-skip you can play as him in whichever house you chose alongside your house leader as the lord. This way the rest of the plot is kept intact.
  12. I can't stop laughing at the idea of changing Garon's name to Sharon. Also, I disagree with the idea that sticking to your beliefs no matter what is a sign of maturity. You can argue that it's admirable, but I think willingness to compromise is far more mature behavior.
  13. The best way to clear Genesis quickly is to skip it. 🙂 Otherwise, you're going to need a lot of pure water and high res units. It might be unwise to some, but I like to give Isadora the body ring so she can one-round promoted magic users with her silver sword consistently. Brave Axe Hawkeye also works but his accuracy is worse. Yeah, Crazed Beast is best cleared by fliers. Still 8 turns isn't that bad. Pale Flower of Darkness is another map where barrier and pure water are your friends. Purge is trivial if you have enough units with a buff (even a +4 depending on the unit). I'd have to clear the current file I'm doing in Night of Farewells to confirm, but I'm pretty sure I remember getting it under 20. I use all the fliers, though (except Florina because I skipped Lyn mode). However, I didn't get all the chests; if I had it would have taken another 3-4 turns. I was just fed up with the map at that point. I don't have much to say about Berserker. I think promoted Heath can carry Hector, so in theory if he's fast enough to double the armors while rescuing you can get there in much less time, drop Hector off, then send Heath back for some of the treasure.
  14. Using the most of all of your resources in a reasonably quick amount of time while accounting for real life time and high chance of success. Realistically, you could call finishing a chapter with all your units at 1 HP the "most efficient" way to clear that chapter because hit points are a resource and you used all of that resource. "Efficient" play in Fire Emblem is a very nebulous term that just about anyone can redefine to prove they aren't a casual, they swear.
  15. Dragons are wicked and fighting them with your army is always a blast. I don't want them to ever leave the series. Fun is more important in a game series than writing. Fighting the Immaculate One was one of the coolest parts of Three Houses and I would hate to see battles like it removed because a bunch of dorks whined that it wasn't good writing to battle a dragon.
  16. Levant? Talking about the fighters in CQ again? Well blow me down!
  17. It's confirmation bias. Misses also have a lot more impact on Maddening than Hard because each action actually matters on the higher difficulty, so you're noticing them more.
  18. I think Cecil is so good because of her base weapon level, right? Can't she use Silvers right off the bat?
  19. I agree fully with Edelgard's ideals and do not think she is "an asshole" at all. Sometimes you have to break a few eggs. At any rate, an example of a character who I don't agree with but like a lot that comes to mind right away is Isao Iinuma from Runaway Horses. I can't imagine someone's ideal being and I would certainly never want to do such a thing, but I can't help but respect his commitment to that ideal. The same goes for the author, who, after finishing his masterpiece tetralogy (of which Runaway Horses was a part), attempted to spark a revolution in his home country and upon failure committed ritual suicide, keeping in line with his idealization of the samurai way of life and adherence to the Emperor as a holy delegate. I don't agree with his personal views but I still have a lot of respect for anyone willing to go so far for his beliefs.
  20. Surprised to see Edelgard so low. Perhaps it's because of what happened with Crimson Flower.
