  1. Spiderman (PSX) The game really hasn't aged well. As much as I still like it, that is almost entirely nostalgia-based love. The controls, largely due to the above, can be a little wonky or uncomfortable at times. They aren't bad because I'm used to them, but they're a little finicky. The helicopter chase toward the beginning of the game is not as tense as the cool music and the voice lines make it seem, it's too easy Resident Evil 4 Even though it's my favorite game in the franchise, it started the slow removal of the horror aspect of Resident Evil. They spend all this time hyping up a few of the bosses but they turn out to be total chumps - namely Salazar and Krauser, who are respectively fought right after picking up a rocket launcher that one-shots them and weak to the knife Chapter 5, outside of the rooms with Regenerators/Iron Maidens, feels more like a third person shooter than a horror game. There are only a handful of really good weapons and they all show up during chapters 3 and 4 (except the Killer7 but the Broken Butterfly is free) Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest I will defend Fates's pairup mechanics for being so much better balanced than Awakening...but I still don't like pairup conceptually all that much. Dual strikes are annoying and cause pairing-up to be a really important part of the strategy, and since I don't like pairup I inherently don't like these either. However, I'm glad these aren't only tools for the player (like in Awakening) because it makes the game more stimulating and improves balance. The multiplayer is bad, but that's Fire Emblem for you. Pokemon Terribly balanced PvP despite that being one of the main draws of the game. The IV and EV systems are trash and only serve to waste time, and shouldn't exist. They keep trying to push the story more and more, and you can never skip the cutscenes. It isn't like the stories aren't improving, but the more unskippable cutscenes are in a game the less replayable it is. I have yet to replay Sun and Moon despite liking it a lot on my first run. Star Wars Battlefront II THEY'VE SENT IN THE SUPERS Space was a fun novelty but it wasn't super interesting. Dogfights were fun but they weren't conducive to actually winning the battle. On the other hand, the much more consistent way to win via destroying the capital ship was repetitive. Infiltrating it was only fun so many times, too. I imagine this was better in multiplayer, but I didn't have access to it at the time. The campaign centering around the 501st made me totally uninterested in the story. I don't like Clone Troopers being Stormtroopers, basically. Playing as a Jedi/Hero either ended in you steamrolling the enemy or getting two shot and completely wasting it. The non-Jedi Heroes just played like worse versions of normal troopers, for the most part. Dragonball Z Budokai 3 Convoluted character unlock requirements GT Goku and Vegeta's stories are the ones most worth playing. The others are all way short and you can feel how Toriyama was shoving non-Saiyans to the side as the series progressed. Not enough Dragonball representation. Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Although I like the cast, having many older characters not present was jarring at first I still can't figure out Ibuki Persona 3 FES Not being able to directly control your allies can lead to some frustrating situations in the midgame Having to hear Fuuka's voice the entire game becomes ear-wrenching. Persona 5 Ohya exists, complete with a mediocre social link and the worst confidant bonuses in the game The palaces are the best designed dungeons in the series, except for Okumura's which is just fighting dudes and travel that is more visually appealing than actually fun. There are more but this post is already way, way too long. These are just things that came to mind.
  2. King Ghidorah is the classic! I like Destroyah because of his silly name, though. Imo Godzilla is the best villain of his series, though, just because of the sheer terror his presence instilled in his first movie. Of the monsters that he's fought, though Ghidorah/Ghidrah is the most interesting design and power-level wise. Ogra is a little much, I agree.
  3. I wasn't crazy about it, but I don't like overworld maps either. Chapter to Chapter is the best, imo.
  4. SFV is trash, what is your point? And Smash being a party game hasn't stopped people from calling it a fighter for damn near 20 years.
  5. Super Smash Bros. I used to love playing them with my friends, but after playing Third Strike a lot I realize how bare bones Smash is as a fighting game and I don't really care for the simplicity of it.
  6. Batta's palette looks great! So does Lyn's, looking forward to more
  7. Moving the goal posts. My point wasn't that the game is too hard to use Erk, my point was that he gets two shotted for a while until he can get some levels (and even then he gets 3 shot instead).
  8. The stats are only really bad in the mid to late game. For the first few chapters the enemies are fairly competent. Not as much so as FE6's, but they're alright. Fair point on the staff rank, but you still won't have him up to A or B rank by the time Pent joins without early promoting him and major spam in a reasonably fast playthrough, and by that point yes, he'll probably be better than Pent but only if he's seriously babied.
  9. I'm not calling it manufactured because I disagree with it, I'm calling it manufactured because it's phony complaints from people who don't care about Persona. Yes, some people thought the localization was "rushed," however that's hardly a universal opinion and for the most part I've only seen people who feel opposite to what you're saying - and as a long time Persona fan myself, I'm more than happy with the localization. Art and storytelling should not be compromised in favor of someone's feelings. The only people who cared about the Soleil thing were keyboard warriors who care about everything - and I know a lot of the complaints were from people who, surprise, don't play Fire Emblem anyway. Controversy does not warrant altering a game's script for other audiences. I assume that last statement was inflammatory nonsense trying to stop me from saying what I have to say. That's a fair point on the Nergal thing.
  10. Point one: They aren't better from the moment they join if Lowen has been used. He'll likely have higher stats in many important areas, which means even if they all joined at the exact same chapter Lowen would be better than the christmas cavs. 2: If Kent and Sain joined 6 chapters later with their "expected stats" and Lowen still joined at chapter 11 or 12 (depending on eliwood or hector's story) they would still be worse than Lowen because once again his stats would be comparable if not better than theirs, due to the amount of time he's been in the party and has been able to kill things, not to mention having 12 chapters of utility use over the other two. Pent is better than Erk because in spite of Erk's greater availability, Pent will often have better stats and will absolutely have better weapon ranks than Erk, especially staff rank. Besides that, you have to look at overall unit contribution to determine which unit is better: all Erk does, because he's fairly frail and joins especially frail, is kill a unit on player phase. Pent joins and can take on swarms of enemies immediately. Lowen, on the other hand, doesn't suffer from Erk's "only useful on pp" problem because he can tank decently on ep from the get-go, so he doesn't have this disadvantage over the later-joining units. Not only that, but Sain and Kent can't really tank like Lowen when they join, again unless they've been LM trained but most playthroughs won't use Lyn mode. I'm not saying that Sain and Kent are bad, by the way - they're very strong units (any unit that can be a Paladin is strong in GBA). I just think Lowen is able to make greater contributions over an entire playthrough than Sain and Kent, due in part to the fact that he can simply do things that they can't for a quarter of the game - they can't do anything at all in chapters they aren't present in. If you train Sain and Kent, sure, they'll probably have higher stats than Lowen. But Lowen makes up for it by having 5 chapters on them to grow and otherwise contribute to clears. On the other hand, a trained Erk's stats may be lower than Pent's, his weapon ranks are lower than Pent's, and his overall contribution is probably lower than Pent's will be. (Pent does more per turn than Erk does, basically). Sorry for the long-winded post. Availability is important.
  11. "You aren't allowed to complain about things because they go against what I think!" Dude, come on. The point is that they botch translations regularly, and have been - it isn't a new phenomenon. The controversy that arose around Persona 5 was manufactured by the same pack of clowns who defended garbage like Fates and Awakening's localization. The people who actually care about Persona 5 appreciate that the original meaning and intention was left intact - and you know that was what I meant when I said "adhered as closely as possible to the original script." It wasn't changed to add memes or to prevent hurt feelings (see: Soleil).
  12. The Persona 5 localization team did the opposite of "fuck with the fans," like Treehouse or 8-4 has been known to do in the past. They very clearly adhered as closely as possible to the original Japanese script, which is what I prefer. With "localization" you get garbage like Kana's recruitment and Nergal's HHM death quote losing all of its meaning.
  13. 6 chapters of being your second best unit is a pretty big deal (you can make an argument for Oswin or Hector being better but the point remains the same). That's 6 chapters to grow and raise weapon ranks that he has over those two. Hell, he can potentially even promote the chapter after they join, and the chapter in which they join doesn't give them much to do - killing 2 mercs and a brigand between the two of them. Availability, no matter how small the difference, matters.
  14. Lowen is better because his availability is better (unless you play Lyn mode). Harken is better than Karel, Pent is arguably better than Erk even if Erk is trained, Dart is garbage, all the fliers are good, and you are making the game much harder on yourself by benching Marcus. Not that FE7 is super hard outside of HHM, but it's nice to have him around. Don't worry about "stealing exp" - that's a non-issue and is almost never relevant. Use Marcus, he's the man. Speaking of non-issues, don't worry about training Lyn and the non-main lord just because they're in the final chapter. Just keep them out of enemy range.
  15. Yeah, it's weird that Sakura and Takumi are younger than Corrin, but iirc Mikoto was living with Sumeragi's family in Hoshido before Ikona died (and thus before Sumeragi was single) - she had two more children by him, died, and then Sumeragi married Mikoto. Deepest lore.
  16. Sumeragi's first wife, Ikona. She's the mother of all the Hoshidan siblings.
  17. What @Dark Holy Elf said, Birthright is great for players who like to grind a lot and don't want to replay the game to see all the content like child units. It's also just easier even without taking grinding into account - there is only one chapter I would dare to call challenging, while the rest are all pretty easy, but still stimulating at least (more so than Awakening's late game, anyway).
  18. You're correct. Luckily, supports don't really matter outside of the conversations themselves in GBA - the stat increases are pretty marginal most of the time and only really help when you have an A and B support or something. There's also a limit to how many supports you can have per character...it's a mess. I know it was a new system but I'm still not sure what they were thinking.
  19. I've been trying to edit palettes in FE8 and I'm having some problems, namely that I know there are things that make it more difficult/tedious than FE6 or FE7 but I'm not sure of what specific extra steps I need to take when changing them. I know how to do it for the other two games, and I used BS Palette Assembler for it. I know it has something to do with Nightmare but I don't know what. Thanks for any help!
  20. L'Arachel's supports in general are great. (Who would have thought, right...) My favorites are the ones with Eirika (since it develops her the most), Ephraim, and Rennac. But they're all really fun in one way or another, she's the best.
  21. Conquest is the GOAT 3DS Fire Emblem. Birthright is fine. Revelation is pretty bad.
  22. Dude, don't waste your time. @Levant Mir Celestia will never agree with what you have to say, he'll always come up with some other nonsensical argument every single time you prove him wrong. He's a contrarian for the sake of it.
  23. I think the worst one statistically is Roy, of the ones I've used/out of the games I've played. I hear Shadow Dragon Marth is also pretty bad (or was that FE12 Marth?). The one I like the least in the story is Ike. I just think he's boring, man. The design I like the least is Chrom, just because I think sleeveless shirts should be outlawed, and having one sleeve isn't good enough. His face also always looked weird to me.
