Hey. I'm just a guy who's recently gotten into Fire Emblem (since early 2016) and it's a really cool franchise. I haven't played that many games yet, but I do plan on delving deeper into things.

My main gaming interest is Pokémon, which I've been playing for over a decade by now. There's several other franchises besides these two that I like a lot.

I'm also into some anime, my favorite being JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Huge recommender; it's truly one of a kind.

Anyway, if there's anything you'd like to know, then don't be hesitant to ask me. I don't bite, haha. Have a good day.

  1. Is there a global directory for all assets? Spriters Resource doesn't contain everything so far. Much appreciated!
  2. I'm looking to acquire the fanslation scripts - preferably decompressed and already in English, and it's just a selection of supports that I need; I could specify - but I need them quite urgently, the deadline for the project I need them for being the 30th. If anyone is capable of helping me in any way, that'd be immensely appreciated. Thank you for reading.
  3. Hey. I'm writing my Master's Dissertation on Video Game Localization and Fan Translation, and the game I'm researching is Fire Emblem Fates. As such, I'd like to ask whether you could provide me with the fan-translated script written by Team If; it would greatly aid my research, and you would contribute to promoting video game localization within Translation Studies. Of course, I'll be sure to credit the group accordingly, as your work deserves to be acknowledged.

I'd like to thank you for reading my request.

    Sincerely,
    Kyuzeth

      Hi Kyuzeth!

I've sent you a PM for further details. Thanks for messaging me!

  4. I don't think I've ever heard of this Emily person. Mind telling me who she is?
  5. Interesting reveals so far. Now, I'm curious as to what the various SRs from each series will be, since there are quite some options to both infer and consider. For Heirs of Fate, I think the Kanas are guaranteed SR status, and the same would apply to Shigure given that he's the real protagonist of the story. If I'm not mistaken, that would leave three more spots for HoF SRs: two more females and one more male. Now, I know all of the princes are fairly popular, but I'm thinking Forrest and Siegbert stand the best chance at becoming SR. As for females, Nina and Soleil are popular among that side of the cast. These choices are heavily biased in favor of Nohr, but we need two more Nohrian cards and one more Hoshidan. As such, it's possible for someone like Shiro to be the last male SR, while Nina and Soleil occupy the remaining female SR slots. Heroes might just give us the Askr trio as SRs, but Bruno and Veronica themselves stand a decent enough chance. Watch Alfonse be dropped in favor of one of the Embla siblings. Not really sure about Thracia, since I'm not that well-versed in Jugdral's lore and characters quite yet.
  6. I've tried both, and ended up solving things a while ago. I've forgotten which way is the one that precisely allows for your RNG pattern, but I'm pretty sure it's when the talking heads show up that I've skipped for the pattern. Thank you for answering!
  7. I've been experiencing issues beating Chapter 8. I'm following the redone instructions on the chapter, including following the exact trajectories listed for Florina in turn 1, but my units experience growths in different stats AND I could not finish the chapter in three turns, either. Is there something I'm missing?
  8. Oh hey, a fellow Dutch. Never thought I'd see the day.

Technically not Dutch since I'm an expat, but I do live in the Netherlands and I enjoy it here quite a lot! :)

Oh, I see. I'm Dutch by birth, but moved to Belgium over 11 years ago. I've always been somewhat of a middle ground between Flemish and Dutch culture for that reason.

  9. As somebody who loves the shit out of G Gundam, I'd like to tell a little more about it (don't worry, no spoilers). First of all, G Gundam is more Super Robot than Real Robot and as such, more fantastical in terms of battles, but aside from being SR, it's also a martial arts drama; the show manages to combine Super Robot and martial arts drama to great effect, integrating MAD elements and tropes within a SR premise. While not as prevalent as some other shows, the idea of political conflict is still present and played out quite well, taking some deconstructive elements. Of course, you really need to be into over-the-top hot-blooded action (and I'm generally kind of a Super Robot fan, having watched e.g. TTGL, Getter Robo and GaoGaiGar), but I'd definitely give it a try.
  10. For some reason, it really bothers me that the Great Knight mains lances in Fates. I get that Knights main lances and Cavaliers use them beside swords, but the Great Knight has always been established as a horseback axe wielder, even back in Genealogy. Hell, the Awakening minisprite depicts it with an axe. What the hell, Fates?

  11. Hey, everyone. I like to write my own characters within specific universes, and I've already written a few for Fates that I'd like to share. This thread will deal with said characters, as well as support chains involving them. Most of these characters are original, but some have been adapted from canon, which will be noted. On top of that, expect to see fully-detailed Paralogues for any second-generation characters I have written. I may also put up some personal stat things here, since I love exploring the mechanical details behind the games. Sometimes, I may upload one of my 'comics' using the games' portraits, to which I add conversations for a quick laugh. A few more things: - Everything will be hidden in spoiler tags so as to ease browsing. - I'm open to any and all feedback. In fact, I'm pretty reliant on feedback, so if you've got anything to say, then fire away! - All content will be added to this post. Whenever something new has been added, I will notify with a comment. Alright, that's enough introduction. Enjoy the read. CHARACTERS [spoiler=Nichol] Nichol [Canon Adaptation] Sole Survivor Basic data Age: 30 Hair: Anthracite; mid-long, messy Eyes: Bright blue, slanted Nationality: Nohrian Alignment: Neutral Base class: Wyvern Rider -> Revenant Knight/Wyvern Lord Secondary class: Barbarian -> Warrior/Berserker S-Supports: Every female character aside from Reina A+ Supports: Silas, Laslow, Niles, Azama, Saizo Child: Victor (son) Background The leader of a feared Nohrian gang of crooks, Nichol has long lived a rogue lifestyle of murder and plunder to ensure the survival of himself and his comrades. Much like Niles, Nichol was born in the slums, although his parents didn't abandon him; in fact, Nichol worked as hard as possible to provide his parents with even the most basic forms of sustenance. Eventually, however, Nichol's sheer proficiency with the axe landed him a place in the Nohrian army as a Wyvern Rider, and his sole focus was to perform as well as possible to retain his position. His sadistic traits while patrolling the lands of Nohr are partly genuine, as he does feel some sort of satisfaction in slaying enemies and oppressing the innocent to do his bidding, but part of it is only to ensure his reputation stays intact among his comrades. However, when invited to the main forces of the army, Nichol is forced to part with his comrades, who eagerly await their boss's return. In his endings, Nichol and his gang form a branch of the Nohrian police force; while notoriously strict, they do act justly and perform their job like nobody else. Personality Nichol comes across as highly apathetic, initially showing complete indifference towards others and their needs. Along with this, Nichol always displays a strong focus on anything he can use for his own gain, rendering him quite egotistical at the start. However, his supports reveal the reason for this strong focus on his own well-being, and it ironically turns out that this egotism is all so that he can support his following well enough for when he eventually returns. Aside all that, Nichol is almost down-to-earth to a fault, usually not hesitating to offend people rather crassly if he believes something to be bullshit. This gets him at odds with several characters, even with the royals. Several supports deal with Nichol's fear of death, which turns out to be the catalyst of many of his actions: all so that he may ensure his own survival. Appearances Birthright Scenario Nichol appears as a wandering NPC unit in Chapter 11 who goes off to slay the mysterious enemies on his own. However, he will retreat to the main deck when his health gets low, which is your chance for Corrin to talk to him. Despite being a Nohrian soldier, Nichol feels uncertain serving under Garon, and explains that he'd rather be on the side of the strong. Recognizing that Nichol has fought some of the invaders, Corrin accepts his offer and Nichol officially joins the army. He will be the first Wyvern Rider to join you, and enters the field of battle on the very first turn. After the battle is over, Nichol properly introduces himself. Upon his defeat, he attempts to join the independent forces and support Corrin, but is initially met with Silas's distrust. Corrin manages to sway Silas, however, and Nichol pledges his loyalty to Corrin. Much like Silas, Nichol will join at Lv18 with a B-rank in his weapon and amazing stats all throughout. [spoiler=Victor] Victor Turbulent Heart Basic data Age: 17 (after time in Deeprealm) Hair: Mother's hair color (anthracite by default); long, unkempt Eyes: Bright green, slightly slit pupils; slanted Nationality: Nohrian Alignment: Neutral Base class: Cavalier -> Paladin/Great Knight* Secondary class: Wyvern Rider -> Revenant Knight/Wyvern Lord; mother's inherited class Sexuality: Straight S-Supports: Avatar, every 2nd-gen female from both Hoshido and Nohr A+ Supports: Every 2nd-Gen male from both Hoshido and Nohr Parent: Nichol (father) * Unlike other Great Knights, Victor can only reach a B-rank in lances, while A-ranking axes instead. He also gains less sword and lance proficiency upon promoting, instead being well into D, close to C for axes. Appearance Victor has a tall, muscular frame and a wild, battle-torn appearance; underneath his armor, his body is covered in many scars sustained over a multitude scuffles. His armor is black, as with some Cavaliers, but boasts a significantly more intimidating design with its angular structure and details, as well as less silver details. His steed is black as well, and both it and its master have more jagged armor; this especially shows on its Great Knight armor (default promotion), which is completely black with dark blue highlights. Additionally, he has long sideburns that extend from his helmet whenever he wears one. The look in his eyes is very sharp and stern, almost hostile. These traits all contribute to make Victor look quite intimidating. Unlike Benny, however, Victor's personality does complement his intimidating appearance, at least initially. Background Having grown up in a Deeprealm, as with the other children, Victor has spent most of his life in a solitary lifestyle. In his own Deeprealm, Victor has garnered a reputation for being a brutal warrior on horseback who constantly goes around challenging opponents. Fellow inhabitants claim he is "looking for reasons" whenever he challenges somebody. Victor never kills any of his enemies, and is shown to be respectful around those who have fallen in battle. This is why many denizens of his Deeprealm are able to share anecdotes and tales of his exploits. (More will be explained in the Paralogue itself.) Paralogue #24: Featured in a separate tag Personality Victor's initially behaves somewhat standoffishly and apathetically. In reality, he is deeply frustrated, as he wants to know why people battle and wage war. He is constantly looking for a reason to fight, not knowing that others cannot give him the reason he's seeking, but has to discover it for himself. Victor is also noted to have very stern-looking eyes and a slightly hostile expression, but is really just indifferent to others' needs at first (much like his old man) and not terribly inimical. He steadily grows out of his negative traits the more he supports with other characters. In any case, though, Victor is a very honorable and helpful individual who will gladly lend a hand, and sometimes, he'll hit it off with someone right away, such as with Sophie. She took up the weapon in her youth, out of a personal belief that she should be able to protect those dear to her, even if her parents weren't quite so willing to let their daughter go into training. Upon being noticed by soldiers of the Hoshidan Army, however, Suzuya was invited into the legions to train with them, so that she may defend Hoshido, and gladly accepted the offer. This did sour the relationship between her and her parents, but the latter two eventually came to accept that their daughter enrolled in the Hoshidan Army for more reasons than just personal interest. Now, Suzuya serves as a commander among the Spear Fighter forces. Fighters such as Oboro see her as a role model. Personality Having been raised by her parents, Suzuya is often regarded as a role model for many girls and women to follow - an elegant, polite, yet strong woman who will gladly jump at the call. Not only that, but her talent as a Spear Fighter has granted her a notable reputation. While she does appreciate the attention, Suzuya sometimes feels people expect too much of her and tends to overwork to live up to what she believes to be the people's perception of her. Unlike Subaki, however, Suzuya doesn't care for anything like perfection or the sort, believing effort is the prime catalyst to all success. It's quite rare for her to ever be agitated, but she occasionally has stress meltdowns. Appearances Birthright Scenario Suzuya appears disguised as a Knight in Chapter 13, aiding Ryoma and Scarlet in the Chevois rebellion against the Nohrian army. When the disguises come off, she introduces herself to the group, and is immediately recognized by several members of Corrin's army. Oboro takes particular note of her, stating herself to be a fan of Suzuya's and eagerly asking to share some fashion advice and combat tips. If you have not used Oboro, Suzuya is good to pick up instead, and definitely a great spare Spear Fighter should Oboro die at some point. Here, she is still her calm self, and is actually recognized by some Nohrians as a powerful adversary. While defeated, Suzuya manages to escape. She is fought again in Chapter 25, aiding Ryoma in the defense of Castle Shirasagi. Here, she is a far more powerful enemy and, as with every Hoshidan enemy, has skills that are completely out of her reach normally. When killed, she remains her calm self and even commends the enemy on a battle well fought. Nichol: "I don't have the happiest mug in the army, but what're you concerning yourself with? Shouldn't you be by Lord Xander's side?" Saizo: "Something's got to be wrong here, Nichol. Why don't you just spit it out?" Nichol: "Ugh, fine... We're about to encounter my son. The problem is, though, he's kind of a troubled soul, constantly looking for a reason to fight. I tend not to overthink things most of the time, but I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. He is passionately committed to his goal, which is admittedly something I'm proud of, but..." Saizo: "What about it? You sound conflicted yourself. The apple really doesn't fall far from the tree, I suppose." Laslow: "Hahahahahahaha! Cheers for that one!" Nichol: "Both of you, shut your holes! I don't want my son to think my company are a bunch of crap-spouting morons! Ugh, damn it all..." [Cut to mountain plateau somewhere in Nohr] Victor: "... Ah, the air is so fresh and new here. I've already fought everyone a million times back in my Deeprealm, so there's no point in loitering around in that boring hole. Time to seek new challenges... Hopefully, I'll finally get the answers I'm after. Advance, Baldur!" [Cut to further ahead in the fields] Victor: "Urgh... We've ridden for hours now and still haven't found a single enemy to face. Perhaps they sensed our arrival and fled. Either that, or they simply pissed their pants and hid themselves from us. I don't want to tucker you out, old pal, so shall we take a break? Yeah, thought so." Master Ninja: "......" Victor: "No rest for the wicked... It seems someone has finally answered to our call, Baldur. To battle!" [Cut to battlefield] Nichol: "There... There's my son." Laslow: "... You seem oddly calm all of a sudd-" Nichol: "VICTOR! WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN DOING OUTSIDE YOUR DEEPREALM?!" Victor: "Dad?! Ugh, marvelous timing... Listen! I'm absolutely sick of being in my Deeprealm all the time! Nobody could ever provide me with any answers and the challengers only weakened over time! Everyone's old there now and I'm in need of new opponents! But, uh... I kinda need your help now, Dad!" Nichol: "... Oh, FANTASTIC! I come to visit you after a while and THIS is how we have to meet again?! Fine... Lads, let's get ready for battle! Don't let those bastards touch Victor!" === Battle Specifics Turns: N/A Max units: 14 Fixed units: Corrin, Nichol Enemy units: 30 Ally units: 1 (Victor) Objective: Loot all treasure; then rout the enemy Music: No Justice Boss Master Ninja (Lv10-20) Weapon ranks: Katana (B) | Shuriken (A/S [Lunatic only]) Equipment: Silver Katti + Silver Shuriken + Spy's Shuriken; drops Brave Axe Skills: Lethality, Sol; Vantage (Hard only); Shurikenfaire, Swordfaire (Lunatic only) Ally Victor (Lv10-20) Weapon ranks: Swords © | Lances © Promoted ranks: Swords (+20) | Lances (+20) | Axes (D+40) Equipment: Steel Sword + Steel Lance + Iron Axe Skills: Brutal Strike, Elbow Room, Shelter, (mother's inherited skill), (Nichol's inherited skill) Map description The map is a vast, outstretched, open field. Aside from the occasional trees and ruins, not much stands in the way of Corrin's army and the enemy forces. Dragon Veins are scattered across the field, and they'll overgrow trails of grass to make them impassable for all non-airborne units. There are several treasure chests, the content of which will all be described below. The best way to access these chests is by first slaying all the enemies, then looting them. There is no turn limit, and the objectives can be done in either order, so defeating the enemies first is definitely an option worth considering. Victor will be in the middle of the map, so activating Dragon Veins to block off paths helps the player protect him and buy more time for him. He'll automatically be engaging enemies, so getting Nichol in there as fast as possible is highly advised. Once you talk to Victor, he'll join your army and can promote. Despite being a Cavalier, he holds an axe and his overall growths greatly favor the Great Knight, which will also grant him a unique appearance. Once promoted, Victor will be much better matched, as his newly-gained Iron Axe will come in handy against the many Master Ninja and Falcon Knights on the field. Mid-battle Conversation Nichol: "Dad's here, Vic. Are you alright?" Victor: "'Alright'? I couldn't be feeling better right now, Dad! At last, new opponents to challenge! Perhaps I'll finally find my answers in your world!" Nichol: "Don't be a reckless moron! You don't even know what this world is like and you've just jumped right into it?! How much more of an idiot can you even BE?!" Victor: "Dad, listen. Fighting is pretty much what I've been doing ever since I've been able to hold a weapon. I've grown into a capable warrior by now. You're gonna find out just how good I've become..." Nichol: "Promise me one thing, kid: Do NOT get yourself killed. Got it?" Victor: "Got it, old man." Nichol: "Ngh... Alright, Son, let me see how you pulverize them." Chests - Killer Axe (x1) - Tomahawk (x1) - Dual Katana (x1) - Dual Naginata (x1) === Victor: "......" Nichol: "Something the matter, Victor? You look troubled." Victor: "... Look, Dad. I don't think I've ever told you, but I've always felt hollow while fighting. I've never really found my personal reason as to why I fight, something that's been haunting me for a long time. The reason why I've been fighting nonstop? Why I've even come to your world in the first place? It was all in the hopes of finding someone who can give me a satisfactory answer." Nichol: "I believe I've got just the answer, kid. Mind listening to your dad for a second?" Victor: "Sure." Nichol: "The reason for fighting is something you've gotta determine for yourself. Just like you forge your own memories, the path of life is yours alone to carve. I can only guide you along the way - I at least can, unlike my own parents, who were ill and died fast." Victor: "... Thanks for the wise words, Dad. I'll keep battling as I always have, but now that I know my reason is something I must find for myself, I feel a lot more reassured and content. Anyhow, I suppose I should return to my Deeprealm now." Nichol: "Oh, hell no you don't. If you wanna find your resolve, then you need to join your dad and fight on his side. We throw ourselves headfirst into the fire. Can't let my boy miss out on all the action, especially since he's such a damn great warrior." Victor: "Alright, then it's decided! Glad to be on board, Dad." Nichol: "Good to have you, Vic. Here's to our survival... and many a glorious victory ahead." Again, if you've got any remarks at all, please share them with me; I will be sure to read them. Thank you for reading my scribbles, and have a great day! - Kyuzeth
  12. Indeed, my knowledge on Cipher's mechanics is limited, but thank you for explaining. That's really cool to know, actually! Yeah, that's true. Siegbert has never been shown wielding Siegfried in Cipher before (though hopefully he will at some point), but that's definitely Raijintō Shiro is wielding, and he's somehow got two of them. I'm 100% certain it's the legendary katana. Might just be me, though. Not really sure what the joke means, but it somehow did elicit a chuckle from me. And to briefly go back to Siegbert in S6: Why isn't he a Great Knight when the other princes all have different classes? S6 Forrest is a Butler, while S7 Kiragi is a Kinshi Knight and S7 Shiro a Swordmaster. Either it's Paladin favoritism or Siegbert's a party pooper who's inherited his father's lack of a sense of humor.
  13. Kind of disappointed that Magvel still won't be appearing in Cipher. However, the prospect of seeing more second-gen characters is pretty nice, even if this means Lucina will hog even more spotlight than she already has. Poor Chrom never gets a chance to shine. Seeing the Paralogue characters and baddies is an interesting prospect, and I'm curious whether the Cipher originals will appear again.
  14. First time observing this thread, but I've been following along on the S7 reveals and would like to share some opinions. I'd just like to say that I haven't explored Blazing Sword that much yet due to my recent entry into the franchise, so this'll mostly detail the Fates cast. Apologies! That being said, though, I'm definitely playing Blazing Sword at some point. Anyway... King Ryoma - I guess I understand why the art isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I think his attire as king looks absolutely badass. It's got the horned mask, similar to his old dad's outfit, and the overall color scheme and attire look really good IMO. Definitely a big fan. New Hinoka - Simply beautiful art. I've rarely seen Hinoka look this good. Between the vibrant colors, the little details, her hair and her expression, there's just so much I like about this one. New Takumi - Bishōnen pineapple is back in action, I see. Not too much to say about this one; it looks great overall and Castle Shirasagi in the background is a very nice added detail. Kinshi Knights - Awesome to see this class is getting more love. While I don't consider them the best unit type in the games due to their meh class boost total and low caps, I hope they're more effective in Cipher. Kinshi Setsuna and Kiragi look great. Saizo & Kagero - Pairing bias aside, these two look fantastic individually and plain marvelous together, what with Saizo's garb having still more red to go with the fire theme and Kagero just looking beautiful in white. The elemental effects add a nice touch as well, and despite not playing the card game myself, I can infer that their skills pretty much go hand in hand. Mayo, please be a badass and release the dual artwork on Twitter/pixiv. Swordmaster Shiro - Kind of unexpected, since S6 Siegbert remains a Paladin, but this is already one of my favorite cards since Shiro somehow wields dual Raijintō. My best guess is that Raijintō is a set of two katana, with one locked away for safety reasons and Ryoma possibly being a better single-wielder than dual-wielder, but who knows. Anyway, huge fan of this one. Master of Arms Hana - It's a pretty cool card, especially the background, the purple aura around Hana and the metric shitton of weapons she's somehow able to carry despite her petite frame, but I'm bothered by the stockings. Given many previous female designs, I'm not terribly surprised, but I simply think it's a clothing trope grown stale. Full-length legwear would look much better here, and I think this way about many females' attires in especially Fates. Sumeragi preview - Knew this was coming given the Garon cards from S6 (still can't get over that awesome Cavalier Garon), but since I like Sumeragi's design a lot, I'm very happy to see such a badass preview. Can't wait to see it in full view. Alright, guess I'll cover a few Blazing Sword cards, since I am interested in Elibe. Hector - This guy looks to be the most interesting of the Lords, and his cards are certainly giving me a fantastic first impression with the amount of quality and detail they exhibit. Bonus points for being an axeman whereas the other two are swordfighters. Lyndis - The afterimages are a very nice nod to the GBA Swordmaster crit and it's some quality art, but... I'm not too keen on her outfit, what with how fanservicey it it looks. The attire could be better for Blade Lord, IMO.
