  1. I'm playing a no grinding Hard Classic run for the first time. Got to the Mila Tree. I had heard this map was pretty hard, but I was doing pretty well so far, cleanly dealing with reinforcements that had shown up, but then disaster struck. Kellam was hit with a crit! What are the odds?! 1%. Oh ok. Well I feel pretty bullshit about that obviously and I'm kind of upset. But I keep going for the sake of an experiment. I wanted to see if I could have handled myself well had I not lost Kellam. Just as my instincts told me, I managed to wipe out the map with nothing lost besides Kellam. Not happy about that revelation but w/e it only makes sense that that'll happen some time right? So I start again and get through after a few tries. I get to the next chapter. After a couple bad starts I do pretty great! Getting some good level ups for everybody and feelin pretty good. Nearly all of the enemies are dead and it should't take to much to get past them and make my way to the boss! Except...Cherche dies to a crit. What?? Why? What are the chances? 3%. Is there something going on here? Two lucky crits at such low percentages in the span of two maps? Either way this is bullshit and shouldn't happen. I vote low percentage criticals just shouldn't happen and they should be considered invalid if the game rolls one or something. It's one thing if you simply screw up because your strategy wasn't sound or something. Or even because ambush reinforcements came out of nowhere and ruined you. At least you can look up a guid beforehand for that, or failing that just plan for it the next time when you know the are coming or plan around it right then and there if they nobody dies (and you get a lot of warnings in this game too). This is just annoying though and not fun in the slightest. I really wish Mila's Gear was a thing in this game.
  2. I also only realized recently that they have very similar mugshots in their games. https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/File:Small_portrait_chrom_fe13.png https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/File:Portrait_sigurd_fe04.png
  3. Here you go. "Though, another statement Tiki makes in Awakening, with some assumptions, may mark the calendar synchronization as roughly correct.[3] If the ancestor Tiki speaks about to Robin is Sigurd or Seliph, this means Sigurd and his son came 1000 years before Marth, which roughly lines up with this current incarnation of the timeline. As noted this, however, relies on an assumption, and Tiki may not be talking about said characters (she is never shown meeting either character in Genealogy or Thracia); many people assume she is talking about Anri, however, Anri lived a mere 68 years before Marth, being his great granduncle." "Perhaps because Chrom is not like Marth. He is much more direct, and committed to what he believes is right. Chrom might more resemble a different ancestor, from the age I was born in. Another great man in their line, from 1000 years before Marth..." https://www.fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/Timeline_of_Archanea,_Valentia_and_Jugdral And yeah I'd go with Lucina.
  4. Oh cool! Yeah that's lucky. Thanks for the thorough help! Gray is gonna make a great Soldier, Knight, and Baron then. Also wow I really like that snazzy armor with the cape. Much better than the regular knight armor.
  5. Alright cool that answers that. Thanks! Actually one last thing. I'm guessing this applies to Barons as well?
  6. Hmmm. That's a good question. Sigurd and Chrom are the only ones with the bods to match early bara Jojo, but Leif is the second hero of the story chronologically and has brown hair like he has in the anime.
  7. Considering that one line from Awakening that implies Chrom is the distant descendant of not only Marth but also Sigurd, and that Sigurd is basically Jonathan I think it would fit perfectly. All the protagonists related to Sigurd and Sigurd himself. Sigurd, Leif, Seliph, Marth, Chrom, and Lucina engaging in a massive pose off. Maybe Alm could be in too. He is a protagonist in the the same world as Marth, is basically the Marth of Valentia, and is even outright called "Another Hero King" for the Japanese version of SoV. He could fit as the weird odd one out by not actually being related to them. Like how Giorno is Dio's son as well as Jonathan's.
  8. Do all Knights and Barons have the same bulky armor that Valbar has? Like if I make Gray a Knight will he wear that armor?
  9. Totally taking a detour from the topic here, but are you a fan of Shin Megami Tensei? Judging by how much like SMT IV the dungeons and towns look in this I'd say it might be right up your alley. Honestly I think IS might have even decided to use Atlas as inspiration for this game after working with them on #FE.
  10. That's what "before they started taking center stage" means.
  11. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Yandere The first part should be all you really need. If they have a violent, unhealthy, or downright crazy attachment then they fit. And I meant it doesn't excuse her as a character not a person. For the record, I don't hate Faye. I just hate how she is written. I don't think it's her fault she is a badly written character though.
  12. There is a difference between strong women, weak willed women, and women that are literally only interested in a guy and nothing else. Faye fit's into the latter category, which is the problem. I think they might have meant new *female* or playable character (which would be the case for people who don't know about him). Regardless though IS having other good and interesting new characters doesn't excuse Faye. Sure she's only one bad character, but nobody is arguing that all the new SoV chars are terrible as a whole. This is about Faye. Also someone mentioned Faye is plain compared to Tharja and Camilla. I'd say she has a pretty cute design. She's not a sex appeal character but she is obviously designed to be adorable. She's all pink and cutsy and happy looking. Reminds me of Amy Rose actually. I'd say Tobin or Mozu look like much more plain villagers. Which is fine and make's sense for a villager.
  13. I agree. I think that if you did an avatar in the way that Robin was done before they started taking center stage it would work out perfectly fine. I also think this was the perfect game to do that with for the same reason you said. I don't really mind that it didn't happen though and completely understand why it didn't being a remake. Plus I would rather never have an avatar again then have Corrin or anything like them. I did also love how Robin's role as the tactician tied in with being the Avatar and how they even played into it with some lines. I think they were a nearly perfect re implementation of the idea of the Tactician from FE7 (which was lame and lackluster).
  14. I get that. That's all understandable, and I don't want to beat this dead horse any longer but just wanna say I like a morally bad character over a boring character any day. Faye is boring. Actually thinking about it Faye is a real example of what some people say all/most Awakening and Fates characters are. Boring, flat, and one note Not to mention her quirk can be kind of annoying, and being honest I'm not fond of the fact that this is literally a female character who's entire person and life is centered around a man. Well said. I agree with both of these points. Honestly to me these giant theory posts about Faye seem like bs and I think people are really reaching
