  1. Quite a fun little game you've made here! It feels like a 3/4ths Fire Emblem in that it has all the necessary themes and features but not as much a full entry. It's great, fast, condensed FE gameplay and story. The story has many of the same beats as many in the series, I can see inspiration from FE4/5 and some Awakening so far (Part 3). I like how much free you have to play it (save whenever, change difficulty on the fly, add weapons if you need to, etc). My biggest gripe was actually cosmetic as sprites don't match hair colours but this might be hard to implement in the end. Overall I have been enjoying the ride and looking forward to reaching the end! Also, where did you get the portraits? Are they done yourself or are they spliced/used from other sources? I swear some characters look familiar (e.g. Leo looks like a Code Geass character).
  2. Thanks so much for the translation! It's great to see what Kaga thinks about the game and strategy games as a whole! Lots of great insights into why the game was designed the way it was. I really like some of his digs at common FE tactics (dodge tanking, snowballing, etc.).
  3. Umm, not sure actually. I've only read another person's review of the trained unit. Perhaps they meant hits from brave weapons? Because there's no way multi-shot would charge soon after being used. Don't get me wrong, it's still unreliable but it has a better injury rate than any other means at that point (using a knife or harpoon). 1/3rd chance to injure is not too bad, all things considered. There are tons of things you can only get by capturing. Many of Lenzheimer's requests are done by capturing and you can get some really nice items (like brave items, special arrows, shields and bracelets) by capturing only. Getting the bolt knife as early as possible requires you to capture the theif that has it (and it's so good at its job I used a repairstone on it twice).
  4. Sherlock is considered high because of his multishot and his ability to act again after his turn. This lets him attack up to 6 times if both skills are charged. Plus he attacks at range and is one a horse so mobility and safety to attack are valued. I never used Sherlock but I've him discussed elsewhere. Dean is one of the few units who can enemy phase in the game due to not be interrupted when attacked. His retaliation is very accurate and damaging. Plus he's fast and has desperation to guarantee doubles. He's one of the few good axe users in the game because his mobility is still rather high. Elbert's provoke is great in assisting him with tanking as well as keeping your frail units safe. He was one of the only units I would use to bait enemy groups, and provoke was useful to keep dangerous targets focused on him. I used Provoke a lot early on and then less as the game progressed. He's great at provoking ballistas because he has dodge arrows and can still survive a hit if it does land. Arthur has a big strength growth so he hits hard. Plus he has shields so desperation damage is mitigated somewhat. His injure skill is the best method to cause injury to units before you get Blizzard or Bolt Knife. He grows really well and has a mount too so that helps with time sensitive objectives. Leon has trouble hitting without Adel nearby. And he doesn't dodge as easily so Deathmatch is more risky. Volo is higher tiered because he can take out some dangerous and tanky opponents that no one else could with Deathmatch. Leon has mobility but it's not as unique as Volo's ability to duel high risk targets. Yeah I always bring a healer along (Sapphira more than Izerna tbh) because I needed to heal Elbert and my weaker units (Faye and Ruby) when they did get hit. I don't think are high tier because they're not usually contributing to objectives (maybe healing green units to assist in escape maps).
  5. I did recruit Kramer and I did notice the implication at the end but I was still hoping for something more concrete. Glad to know I didn't miss anything. I think permanently recruiting everyone gives most people their ending cutscene, except for Ruby, Faye and Enid whose promotions are related to their own personal stories.
  6. Hi all! I've just finished Berwick Saga and I was a bit surprised that Christine and Ward never had a scene where they come to terms with their relationship. Ward's distance as a father and devotion as a knight was a big sticking point for Christine, as she never forgave him for being an absent father. I know Elbert helped Christine see things a bit from Ward's point of view and encouraged her to talk to her father, but this never happened! Is there a different, better, ending between the two of them? Maybe if you need to promote Christine to do so? I know most of my other characters got ending cutscenes/closure so I was surprised Christine was left out.
  7. Some of the hardest units to recruit are Sylvis and Volo, so try and use them for main missions (1.5 happiness). In the meantime, use Faye or Kramer, and Ruby during sidequests as they're often easier than the main missions. The others that require happiness but no level requirements (e.g. Axel, Derrick, Esteban, etc) can just be hired after main missions for half the price. You don't even need to deploy them (their associated side missions should be enough). Except Thaddy, you should always recruit at the start for him. Owen is a great healer for escape missions, as he can teleport off the map at a moment's command. Bringing him to escape missions only will give you enough happiness. Also research who likes what food and buy it for Volo or Sylvis, or whoever needs more happiness when it's available. You don't need A rank foods, C rank and a liked food is .5 happiness already. Czene and healer can capture units for easier levels. (Blizzard/bolt knife/Flourish and then Mercy work really well to cripple). I'm at chapter 8 and I've recruited Volo, Faye and Ruby already, with Sylvis not far off and Kramer and Arthur really soon. Derrick, Thaddy and Owen will be pretty close as well. Levels come a lot easier later as the enemy levels start increasing and your main cast develop, meaning your mainstays can damage the enemy enough for you weaker units to finish. The problem with trying to recruit everyone is that most units get benched once permanently recruited so you can work on others.
  8. Download all the file parts, highlight all the .rar's and extract them to one place. You should end up with a complete rom.
  9. Congratulations and a huge thank you to Aethin & Co! It's hard to believe I've been quietly anticipating this release for likely over a year now! I'm sure it was definitely worth waiting for! I still love the work you did on TearRing Saga and I'm very optimistic about Berwick for the same reason. Thank you for all your hard, hard work and for sticking with the project until initial completion. I know there will still be bugs to fix, but I think (and hope) most of the difficult parts are over. I'm looking forward to watching the Berwick community grow as more people get to experience this game!
  10. Good to see you back! Congrats on settling in Japan! What an exciting adventure! Are you doing translation over there as well? I'm very much looking forward to the finished product and am always happy to see another step closer to that!
  11. AAAAAAAH! It's happening! YES! Been replaying through TRS lately so this beta can't come at a better time! Super stoked to hear you're translating this as well, I really liked TRS's translation. Does Berwick have as much dialogue as TRS does per chapter on average?
  12. Hey, I'm just starting out this hack and loving the Rapier's infinite durability! That was an awesome change! The doc is missing a bit of info though. Units after Dozla don't have their base stats listed and Garcia is missing from the spreadsheet.
