  1. Thanks for the PDF, it'll be very useful!
  2. UPDATE: I reworded my second question to be a bit more clear and asked it on the FE subreddit, and I got an answer for it. The rewritten question: And, the answer (u/MysticBlade: you are a lifesaver!):
  3. I am new to hacking, so forgive me if these are basic questions that I have. I have looked through some tutorials and have a very basic grasp on what some of the more important programs do (Event Assembler, Nightmare, FEditor, etc.), but there's something I don't quite get: It's stressed that ROMs are illegal to send and not to do it, yet all that I have seen regarding making edits to FE7 involve altering a ROM of the desired game. Is there a way to compile these edits into a patch? So far, I have seen nothing that says/shows how to do this. Second: As I understand it, pointers refer to specific resources within the game's data (Character portraits/descriptions, conversation images, etc.) and therefore to change say, the background when Lyn is talking to you in the FE7 prologue, you change the pointer from the tent background to whatever you want it to be. My question: Is there a way to view a coherent/indexed list of pointers and what they refer to? How do I know to change the pointer in Event Assembler from 0x00 to 0x18 in order to have Lyn speak against the backdrop of a castle garden instead of her tent? Any help with these two questions would be most appreciated!

    'ellos!

I am Cecilyn; some of you may have seen me over on the Fire Emblem Subreddit occasionally. A short bit about myself: I am an undergraduate studying Economics at university; I love to read, write, draw, play music, and play single-player and party video games (I have no competitive edge for gaming, lol,) and recently began to train in Kendo. My Favorite book is Murakami's Norwegian Wood, followed by The Stand; favorite movie would have to be either No Country for Old Men or Perfect Blue; my favorite non-FE games are Bioshock, Mirror's Edge, Metroid Prime. and Pokemon: Silver Version. And lastly, my favorite color is emerald-green. As for Fire Emblem: Even though I have played Smash ever since Melee's release, I never really thought about what series the FE reps came from until Smash 4 came out and I played as Lucina. From there, I decided to get a 3DS, Bravely Default (still haven't played it), and Fire Emblem: Awakening. Needless to say, I fell in love, and after Fates came out, I decided to try games from the other eras of Fire Emblem. So far, I have completed FE7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, and TMS #FE; I have started FE1, 2, and 4; I am more than halfway through FE11, and I am almost finished with FE6. My favorite so far is a tie between The Sacred Stones and TMS #FE (It's not a Fire Emblem game proper, but I really enjoyed it nevertheless.) I've never attempted to LTC a game or play at maximum efficiency or anything like that, but when I play I try to maintain a steady forward pace; I prefer tactics and strategy to grinding, but I can't hold it against people that do like to grind like my little brother. My favorite characters so far are Kiria from TMS #FE and Kagero from Fates, though I have to admit that Leon is pretty amazing. If there is any unit I will always use, it'll be the female myrmidon (unless it's Hana - I can't stand her!), even if there are better units to use; On the other side of the scale, I usually end up neglecting magic units that have no healing utility, alongside wyvern riders (even if they are great.) My favorite classes are Myrmidon and Ninja; Least favorite are armor knight and trainee. My favorite lords so far are Ike, Eirika, and Ephraim, since I can see them as being real people. I first learned of the Fire Emblem subreddit... around the time of Fates' reveal, I think, and I began to visit it in earnest shortly after its American release. From there, I heard of Serenes Forest; for a while, I was intimidated by the vibe that it seemed people were giving off about these forums, but I do hope that they were all merely misguided in their assessments. And so, I am here now to join this community; for a while now, I have wanted to try my hand at creating a Fire Emblem ROM hack, and I hope that I can make use of the resources here and help from the users in order to realize that desire. So with that, hello, everyone!
