  1. I never saw Soren as an absolute dick, I saw him as a pragmatist. Aside from a few isolated occasions where he lets his emotions get the better of him, (a la chapter 8,) Soren demonstrates that he makes his decisions based purely on the well-being of the Greil Mercenaries, not committing to anything unless the company can benefit from it. Soren's pragmatism is most heavily demonstrated in the beginning of Chapter 5 in Path of Radiance--while Shinon wants to side with Daein purely so he doesn't have to step foot in Gallia, Soren does so because Daein was winning, and because he believes that fighting them is foolish. What I'm getting at is that people like Soren because he's an amoral character surrounded by a morally-driven party, and that dynamic is fun to watch.
  2. He'd have to miss a 96, which isn't unheard of. The RNG goddess is fickle.
  3. Nah, Joicelyn should be dead by next player phase. She's left with 3 HP after Hiero's attack, provided he hits.
  4. Welp, if Hiero eats a counterattack and Joicelyn attacks him next turn, he's also down.
  5. My first was Pearl, but I concur with @Florina's #1 Fan. After playing through Pearl all the way, Platinum just felt like an objectively better version of the game. Black/White isn't a bad place to start either. Unova is my personal favorite region.
  6. I'm sensing a pattern here. Asther and Abeloth both went down because they ate counterattacks.
  7. Abeloth is literally 1 MT away from killing that shaman. Sicon'll have to get out of range of that shaman so Abeloth can block the corridor. Forgot he didn't have a healing item, at least according to the spreadsheet.
  8. You'll take 17 damage if both attacks hit, 10 from the fighter and 7 from the shaman, which leaves you at 4 HP. You're cutting it close, but you'll survive.
  9. Nah, Lowe should be fine as long as Hiero attacks the fighter.
  10. Asther fell to one knee, using his sword as a crutch. "Blast... I was careless. I'll be fine, but this wound will take some time to heal... kill that archer for me, will you?" Asther resigned from the battlefield with a verbal 'tsk,' heading back to address his wounds, observing the battle a safe distance from the fort.
  11. You could say that 2-3 range makes archers a killer class. I'll see myself out now.
  12. Well, either I dodge an 81 or you're writing that eulogy my guy. I believe so, I just can't field Asther for 3 more battles after this one if he dies. The Archer does 7 damage and Asther has 4 HP. Either way, my fate is tied to the mercy of Enaluxeme the RNG goddess.
  13. Now I suddenly regret not attacking Maurice last. I am behind a big cluster of bodies, for what it's worth, I guess. And maybe the archer doesn't know I'm wounded? Or maybe I'm just reaching because I don't want to die on the first chapter. Anna pls. Either way it's no big deal. I'm having fun.
  14. Depends on the archer's AI, or if he sees me. I'd have to get an absurd dodge if he does see me though.
  15. Yeah, unless I get a 1% crit, that ain't happening. I leave him with 6 HP I believe. Also, I may need Hiero to shove me if I don't dodge Maurice's attack, otherwise the archer will kill me.
