I didn't grind at all. No skirmishes/dlc/wireless features and still after ch5 is exactly where the smooth sailing started. For me that was when MU had gained enough exp to be able to fight enemies almost as well as frederick and once you can do that the exp just keeps coming in due to veteran and eventually you have a super unit that is much stronger than the enemies.

Archers are not that bad, but they're still one of the worst classes. They are definitely better in awakening than they ussually are though. This is because of two things, the first is pair up in general. Your range as a support doesn't matter so archers can help 1 range point characters just fine. The second is longbows. Because there's no weapon weight, it's easy to double with longbow and your pair up support character can attack with 1-2 range weapons from 3 range.

That's only true if you've been hit by attacks with 0% accuracy. Anyways, this game feels like hit rates are back to a single RN.

You are certainly not alone. Plenty of FE fans have actually only played a few of the games. I can't blame them since most of the games never came out here. I would recommend trying out FE4, FE5, and Tear Ring Saga though.

SC2 is a lot of fun. It's very memorable and still probably my favorite out of the whole series. Not to mention link was pretty fun. Actually one of my favorite parts about this game is the voice acting/quotes. I wish people would be a bit more open minded and actually give 5 a chance though. The actual gameplay is excellent and possibly the best in the entire series. It's possible it won't have your favorite character(It didn't have mine), you'll also have to adjust to some new mechanics, and character movesets always change between these games. But if you go into it judging it as a new game by its own merits and not by how it doesn't have talim, you might end up really liking it like I did. The game was rushed though, there's no denying that. It's clear that with the short time they had, they prioritized balanced gameplay and very good online modes over more story/modes/characters. (A choice I agree with, but others may not)
