  1. Ye, i wanted Cyril to check up on vengeance. Thinking of like charging in, vengeance, and then teleport him back with Lysethea, or warp, vengeance, and then run away with canto, is this how you guys do it?, looks pretty fun haha. The ultimate hit&run. Trimmed the party down to 10 for hard just to do not deal with this, but how does it work anyway, the 2 extra party members wont see the light of the day until the map allows to, so how do they level, rotating the roster? being adjutants? planning im so sick of planning xD gimme action!
  2. I'm 26 hours in, chapter 4, and had a grand total of .. 4 battles. If this is still early game, i'm scared. That having said, Lysithea is recruited, Catherine is support rank B(or wants to, she is gated for some reason) and she, cyril and shamir wait for the chapter unlock/level feed. I think i'm pretty much done with the monastery, just unlocked the tea party thing. In fact i'm not sure what to do with the excess of Monastery Action points now.. Ohh, interesting, haven't thought of map specific classes, but ye on hard it's redundant ( so far for me), i'm considering skipping brigant on everyone even, just to cut down on grind. This is would actually synergize with Paladin and +1 mov in riding. Silvain has a boon to riding too. Pretty cool lol.
  3. haha ye, although I'll be honest i followed the advice of vikingsfan92 and lenticular and toned it down to Hard, the game is constantly throwing curved ball long-term planning mechanics at me, and the actual fighting is literally just in the way. .. It's been nothing but Monastery Emblem for the last couple of days, i've headaches trying to figure it all out lol. And given the game is set up for multiple playthroughs, browsing fe3h.com ( great site btw thx!, been looking at it) equals in time investment to simply playing a house route on hard and have it all explained in the game. Although i suppose part of the problem is because Blue Lions is such a messy house. I'm looking at GD and their characters Leone, Hilda, Marianne, Lisenthia, Claude. Plug and Play! set and go in 5mins. Meanwhile Blue Lions everyone has a caveat.. Even Dimitri has a bane in Axes.. like why.... then there is the grunts overload byleth, felix, dedue, silvain, and the "best units" mercedes, ashe, ingrid, annette.... I'm sure it can all be worked out, but for me it's a bit too much lol. I think i'll go with this trimmed-down in-house version Which brings me to the question, do healer adjutants heal battalions? if so i'll change Dedue to Guard duty, i mean on hard nobody's gonna double me, so healers look like a better choice. Really wanted to squeeze in Annette, but dark flier is dlc locked.. battalion is dlc locked... Hapi is dlc locked.. Ashe hurts my eyes, both visually and gameplay-wise, Cyril is a straight upgrade, but visually not so much.. If i replace Ashe with Cyril, in addition to bows, should i use Axes or Lances on him? Thx, I'm perfectly fine with having the +2 Mov item collecting dust in the inventory. Seen worse. xD I was more worried about story spoilers. People are saying it spoils things and i have no way of checking obviously. So you are saying the DLC timeline is between cp 4 and 5? Perfect, that's where i am rn almost, it would unlock Hapi, Constance, the flying battalion and the dark flier class. Once i understand the monastery....
  4. Not gonna lie the game is pretty "in your face" with recruitment and this yuuge dialog box. I thought it was gonna be like sneaky snatching students from other houses via trickery and court intrigues. But it turned out to be more like a buffet, where they are throwing themselves at me, and it feels like a mini-game to recruit everyone lol. That having said i wouldn't know what to do with them all.. not only because of limited xp, but i'm also kinda strapped for money == weapons== damage. Got down to Training weapons.. Also wtf is with these enemy stats. And i mean i don't even have the means to customize anything, everything is locked.. early chapters are brutal lol. Slowly getting the hang of game mechanics, pretty fun. Anyway i thought i'd ask about all these DLCs and side stories.. paralogues?, when is a proper time to start those without breaking things, the internet is pretty divided on this. I heard Hapi is good for Blue Lions, if not for meta, but at least for the lore, thx.
  5. Ye Cyril and Seteth are more of a filler pick, by the time Seteth joins i either learned how the game works to whip them into shape... or restarted. Rn the game mercilessly faced me with a "Set Goals" screen for the starter characters and nothing else. It's brutal. Anyhow it seems i didn't make any horrible mistakes with the in-house students, so i just go with that and mb make Byleth or Felix a grappler indeed.
  6. Man, the more i look at it the more underwhelming the Blue Lions lineup looks, it's like Dimitri is good and everyone else is mediocre or worse. And the cool units are in other classes, is it the "grass is always greener on the other side" effect? How's this BL roster? I wanted to play 100% in-house, but let's say i recruit Lysithea for Warp, actually lets say i recruit everyone, doesn't it break some game lore?
  7. Thx, i'll go with the flow and see where it leads me. Engage has the weapon triangle, fixed growths and last but not least thicc girls. But this trainer sim in three houses is intriguing ngl.
  8. I'm a complete new player starting a maddening run and have a couple of questions -Fliers are the strongest classes followed by War Master and Bow Knight? -The thread somewhere here said to make Dimitri a Bow Knight? -What does brawling do? seems kinda redundant, but i guess the skills are good? -What do 3 little unlit stars in the status display do? -Are there fixed growths in fe3h? -Should i mb start with Engage? thanks!
  9. Sothe's ability is very strong. He does actually interact with the party unlike Volke, and has supports too. BUT since he cant promote his ability doesnt come into play, and since his stats are capped at 20 he cant steal anything interesting. Way to destroy a fine character.
  10. I envy you guys, i wish i could read Japanese. You have genuine access to soo much cool stuff. Anyway here is another Star, 17-4 midgame dialog
  11. Dialog between 17-2 and 17-3 Ike is also in nonstop talk mode. Having Ike lvl20 really sucks. He capped in like chapter 10. :D
  12. How is efficiency defined in this thread.
  13. Treating Boyd equal to the rest of the team is not sandbagging. He already got the speedwing, one of the better items in the game. Boyd needs forges to be better than Volke. I dont consider it a good sign. Also forged max +mt/+hit hand axe, 80% hit, not killing. forged max +mt/+hit steel axe, not killing. Although it is a somewhat better result, yes. But these weapons' costs/use is 15 times higher than the cost of the weapons everyone else is using for not that great of an impact. He is pretty low on the priority list for the forges, were they to be to used, or Boyd. I'd rather give a forge to Jill or Marcia. Well, note this is Maniac Mode, the usual arguments dont apply here. In other difficulties its easy to double (hard_wing_Boyd would double here) as well as easy to hit. That Myrmidon has about 17 AS as opposed to 14 on hard. The game inflates into who can deliver the most damage the fastest, and arguably it boosts Boyd too, negating his both weaknesses, bad hit and bad durability.
  14. This is fixedBoyd, a 20/1 with a speedwing and a positive Biorhythm, doubled by his Tempest. And this is chapter 16, where Tormod joined, and tbh other characters even before that like Makalov or Astrid, and all fight for the deployment spot. Lets own these guys shall we Whoah, a whopping 65% to do chip damage. Not good Boyd, not good, lets attack the Archer, he probably does suck, and cant even retaliate to our Axe effect. Much better, an 80% chance to do chip damage. Volke with a dagger vs Myrmi, 100% tohit Results: Boyd does average 15 damage. Volke does 12. Boyd got really lucky with that save having him positive Bio, 20 hit less otherwise.
  15. Boyd is undeniably great in early chapters. But Tormod joins around chapter 16, thats not early game anymore. Lots of overall better units around and Boyds input is largely done by that point. As for the better foot unit.. Boyd caps HP and str, but he has atrocious defense and gets slaughtered if he ends his turn near archers. And if there is an enemy mage around.. oh my. Jill has similar problems, but she has overkill melee resistance so can still tank the other guys, Boyd has nothing. Axes are not all that clearly superior in Maniac mode, regular once have problmes hitting. I actually let them carry an Iron Lance around, cause very often its just the only thing that hits reliably, and even that is not a given. A Steel Axe? Good luck hitting that Myrmidon, and he has the WTA advantage too. Im not sure, to my limited knowledge, why Boyd is listed higher than Ike tbh. Ike's stats are plain better, he has better availability(duh), and a usable master skill. He is required to beat the game. Boyd is hit&run, except he doesnt have the run part. Ike is self-sufficient with Aether and has superior late game weapons anyway. HP is the easiest to upgrade, since one Serath robe gives +7 hp, but one dracoshield gives only +2 def. The only thing i see going for Boys is range, for the most part of the game, but this negates him his biggest advantage namely melee damage, so he becomes, what, a better Rolf. 20/20 stats Name Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Res Ike 20 52 26 11 27 28 19 23 17 Boyd 20 60 30 03 25 24 17 16 11
