  1. IMO some of the names in this do look jarring, but in a lot of cases you're stuck between a rock and a hard place due to consistency with Project Naga. I'm of Irish-Scottish ancestry, so a lot of the CYL names look like actual names to me, when to others they might look like a random combination of characters. As to whether CYL names are trustworthy, there have been more names changed from Awakening>Heroes than from CYL>Heroes. I'd hoped that Heroes would stop our having to remember 3 different names for each character. (Pan/Pahn/Pirn/Perne, Brigid/Briggid/Bridget, Delmud/Dermott/Diarmuid, Edain/Aideen/Adean/Edin, and so on; and yes, I have seen every one of these names in a fan translation or fanfic) but it seems fans are going to stick with the names we've already been using for years, regardless of any attempts to get one concrete set of names.
  2. What is your reason for using some, but not all, content from Heroes/CYL? I would imagine a translation should generally be consistent, so I'm assuming that most of the discrepancies are because it would take a lot of effort to change it from the PE script.
  3. Certainly won't be in the released version. It's most likely for testing purposes.
  4. Okay, I did a little more testing on both Desmume and my flashcart (DSTWO). On patch version 1.0, the game softlocks at the decoy scene (when the enemy soldier talks to the captain.) Skipping the cutscene does not help. On 1.1, the game softlocks on flashcart, but not on emulator. I'll keep trying and see if I can find out what's actually causing this.
  5. Crashing on Prologue 4 decoy scene on Normal difficulty. Trying to see what's causing it.
  6. The major problem I have with the original screenshots is the font/kerning, but it looks like you're already addressing that. Also, I'd like to get into NES rom hacking, and this looks like a good place to start since our work is basically done for us, we just have to figure out how to fit it into the rom. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask.
  7. I'll try to get one in, but no guarantee since I'm on shitty internet access for two months and I'm moving at the end of July.
  8. For the record, that's: Alm, Lukas, Gray, Tobin, Clair, Clive, Mycen Celica, Mae, Boey, Saber, Conrad ...which is entirely doable. If you're trying this, it should be on Hard, since Normal is a stomp even with solo Alm/Celica.
  9. The problem with Jakob/Felicia are that they're dependent on the Avatar's gender, thus being useless half the time. ##Felicia: 7.0 (8.5 with Male Avatar, 4.0 with Female Avatar)
  10. ##Avatar: 10 I'm assuming full first-generation recruitment and high efficiency (but not full LTC.) The Avatar's strengths lie in versatility, not raw power, though s/he's not lacking much in that. Being able to reclass to anything is a huge advantage, and no one else can get even close to that. Add dragon blood, a prf weapon, and starting in what I believe to be the second-best class, skill-wise, in the game, and you have a monster. Avatar is in first place on my list, and one of the two characters I rank as SS-tier.
  11. Indeed, the major problems/controversies in fan translations tend to come from the things that have no official translation, e.g. the Vergil debacle, or from introducing new material that wasn't in the original for the hell of it (IN AMERICA!!!) In this case, we have two official descriptions for the same sword, but they are not mutually exclusive and not its actual name. It's certainly feasible that two different adjectives can be used to describe the same item.
