  1. Huh. Oddly, Effie's is literally my favorite voice in the dub; I loved all the changes. She feels a little more natural for a warrior woman to me, though I suppose that somewhat makes her stand out against the modern era of FE women.
  2. Class name guide I made for use with this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RX65MviNoZACZhN3roHhdMmmDQqd9WrZLdsggZoXqsQ/edit?usp=sharing
  3. Effects, no question. Durability has had almost no place in the series since the addition of the convoy and is simply a legacy feature that does not appreciably add to the strategic gameplay on most difficulty settings. Effects make for a tactical choice on every difficulty setting. Durability isn't all that realistic either: - in real life, you can reforge shattered weapons, while that's almost solely the province of an extremely rare staff. - It's somewhat rare for a weapon to break to the point you could be left entirely without a weapon at all; a sword with damaged edges is still better than taking spears to the gut with no counter attack. - Durability would more reasonably be chance-based, not use-based (ideally a mixture of both). - Several weapons in the series are ammunition-based and shouldn't have durability as we think of it. The only way I would welcome durability back into the series would be as a chance-based thing where it could break during a map, but whenever reasonable in the story, you could reforge several weapons at low cost. However, that would make for very different gameplay and wouldn't work under the Fates paradigm where there's already a lot to consider.
  4. I was wondering what people thought about running Foleo as an Adventurer. - Shining Bow allows him to attack at 1 or 2 range with good might, but no crit. - Getting the class requires marrying Eponine or a Thief femAvatar, or being Nyx's kid. - Bowfaire (requires being Mozume's kid or bowman femAvatar's kid, marrying a Bowman femAvatar or purchasing it via multiplayer) increases his mag output for healing and staff usage. - Gives him pass so that he can be moved back and forth as needed on the battlefield. - He's generally healing on his turn and counterattacking off of it, using Vengeance. He should generally not be exposed and abuse Foul Play primarily through being a support unit in Attack Stance with Battle Command running.. Foleo Growths: with +Mag/-Str Avatar Mom: HP: 48.33% Str: 25% (-5 cap) Mag: 56.87% (+6 cap) Skl: 30% (-1 cap) Spd: 43.33% Lck: 38.33% Def: 28.33% (-1 cap) Res: 41.67% (+4 Cap) The best ootential option in most cases I think, but going to have a hard time ranking Bows to C. with Mozume Mom and Aptitude: HP: 53.33% Str: 36.67% (-2 Cap) Mag: 51.67% (+2 Cap) Skl: 45% (+1 Cap) Spd: 55% (-1 Cap) Lck: 48.33% (+1 Cap) Def: 40% Res: 53.33% Easiest to use, most sturdy to occasionally take advantage of a counterattack. Can switch to a physical bow to attack high Res targets. with Nyx Mom: HP: 43.33% Str: 15% (-2 Cap) Mag: 56.67% (+5 Cap) Skl: 30% (-2 Cap) Spd: 43.33% Lck: 30% (-1 Cap) Def: 23.33% (-2 Cap) Res: 43.33% (+3 Cap) A better high end potential option than Mozume, but super frail physically. Locked to magic bows only.
  5. Virtually all of the kids grow well if you put nearly any effort into their parents, from what I've seen. I've only played female Avatars so far so I can't really comment on pairing the male Avatar. My third playthrough actually does have a male Avatar, but I will be playing that very casually to avoid burnout.
  6. I didn't mean literally "talk." There did have to be some sort of communication, is what I'm affirming.
  7. If they hadn't talked, how would Basilio have had any idea of the plan to exposit it...? He spoke of it having been hatched in the "last few days" and there's a small time jump between the end of Valm and the beginning of the third act.
  8. Sending letters? Messengers? Apparently Flavia was in on the whole thing.
  9. There had to be communication between the Avatar and Basilio at some point, however surreptitious. Validar was keeping an eye on their movements, he didn't have all their tents bugged.
  10. Yes. It's not perfect, but it really is amazing; I do not qualify as a Fire Emblem fan (though I have played other games in the series) prior to Awakening, it is really that good. Awakening is on my short list of "greatest games I've played."
  11. Er, no, I'm not complaining that say, my Staff level reset between War Cleric and Falcon Knight. I'm complaining that I get up to A level and have a variety of tools available to me, then if I wanna try out an Axe, I have to do a map or two and spend all my efforts on Bronze Axing it up while everyone else is carrying Grimedge, Dark Steel of the Night Rhinos. It would be nice to be able to start at D or C after you've got multiple As.
  12. Yes. That'd have been great. Something as small as that. Even so, this is still in the very small category of Fire Emblem games with an enjoyable story.
  13. Yeah, in order to get the build I have, I went 16 Tactician/16 Grandmaster/15 Dark Pegasus/15 War Monk/20 Falcon Knight. If I pick up any other skills with her, it's not gonna be for a while, and it'd only be to get a totally different skillset for variety's sake. I'm so tired of getting Weapon XP. I wish you didn't have to start at freaking E every time. Is there any decent way to get Arms Scrolls?
  14. Yeah, like I said, I use Renewal on my Avatar because Staff use is a big portion of what she does. 10 Move and Galeforce lets her get almost anywhere and then start teleporting in support if needed. I guess I could eventually drop All Stats +2 for an Iote's...
