  1. For now I'd say BE, I respect Edelgards character it takes a lot of guts and willpower to do what she did for Fodlan and change it in such a way. Everyone should read her supports with Manuela, it is very humanizing and gives depth to some of Edelgards actions. That said, Im kinda losing interest in BL route, its the route I've been playing for the last 10 FE games... Dimitri is a well written character however. Have yet to start on GD
  2. Honestly, can we just leave it at that? This thread is debating the same points over and over again.
  3. There's a lot of different view points in this thread and they all bring up valid points tbh. But what bothers me is people calling her evil. I think its a rather childish way of describing her intentions and character. In comparing all three solo lord endings, Claude makes some trade routes, stops some loyalists and gets rid of racism for the most part. Dimitri helped some orphans, improved foreign relations and reformed the government. The reformation part is pretty vague, so its up to anyone's interpretation really, to me it kinda sounds like a democracy? Edelgard reshaped the political structure, reformed the class system and got rid of the crests. Currently doing BL route so I'm not sure if Dimitri mentions any plans for the crests, have yet to start GD as well. Strictly speaking of the changes brought to Fodlan from the lords' endings, personally I think Edelgard achieved more than the other two. People saying they don't agree with her methods, or saying she should've done them differently are valid to think so. However, in a real world application you think the whole "I'm going to change the world and save everybody at the same time" cliche actually works? There has to be sacrifices if there is going to be any change To put it simply, I think Edelgard has the most realistic ideals and actions of the three, Claude and Dimitri while strong and well developed characters in their own right, kinda fall into the typical FE lord archetype. On the flip side, BE post time skip is very rushed and detached, it hurt Edelgard's character quite a bit IMO. So I can see people playing her route and not feeling very sympathetic to her
  4. Started with BE while it was nice and new you start to nice that it gets repetitive too fast. Just started BL I either choose to battle or seminar most days I don't bother with the lost items any more. The camera is definitely wonky. Thank god for NG+ because I'm blazing through chapters and rarely doing monastery time
  5. No favorites so far.. but Edelgards support with Ferdinand is hilarious. As well as his support with Dorothea, kinda slept on him initially but damn he is starting to grow on me with his genuine ass supports.
  6. Agreed. Post time skip is terrible, it really hindered any further character development and was hella rushed. Just started BL route so well see how this one goes. A few other stuff irks me like the classing system. But other than that IS really put in effort into this game and I love the darker path they're taking with this series. A far cry from the hot garbage known as fates
  7. So like, whats Fjorms relation to Askr? Kinda confused on how she fits into the story, but I guess we'll see. Surtr and his subordinates make sense. Overall the designs are meh IMO laeviateinn looks okay. Norse mythology is a huge turn on for me, so I'm going to hopefully enjoy how they world-build here
  8. Anyone know if there are differences for 5* and 5* focus aside from the weapons?
  9. Eh, if anything they'll probably both get lumped into some sort of wyvern rider theme. But yeah there is a serious lack of green units thus far.
  10. Screw this sibling crap, I just want Haar but lord knows when that will be
  11. That does sound like a really cool idea actually. I'd have it be separate from the main game and have it appear as a sort of challenge mode and you get rewards based on how well you do. Though I'm not sure how well it would work if, say, you're doing it wirelessly and you can't communicate with the other player a 3ds does have a mic but no games I'm aware of actually use it. There would have to be quite a lot of enemies as well as it being very difficult because having two players on a map would make it terribly easy otherwise. That being said any game would benefit from some feature being made properly it just depends how well people respond to it.
  12. I get what you're saying, but looking at it practically, someone cant possibly care about every single person in a war including their enemies. From a video game standpoint those people are not important enough, granted previous games did do it better. Personally, C!Kamui came off as whiny too me which is why I don't see them being self centered they were always complaining about killing people/fathers orders. I guess in a way that can be considered selfless which is where our opinions differ. Seriously though, Hinoka completely forgiving Kamui, or the remaining siblings after BR for that matter makes no sense. Kamui should definitely be viewed as a villain in that regard. Yeah they couldn't save every one but they at least deserve a gold star for trying. Conquest gets a lot of flak because it tried to do something different and didn't do it too well while Birthright is just your standard FE game.
  13. I'd have to disagree with them not caring about people, in conquest Kamui didn't want to kill people especially their siblings, I don't think they really mentioned their happiness or it was factored in at all(unless I missed it). Xander is like the Camus archetype, despite what his heart says he is duty bound being crown prince and all that. It's also mentioned that in order to stay sane that the nohr siblings would indirectly disobey their fathers order thus saving lives (Rinkah, Kaze). Conquest does have a few hints on morality if you dig deep enough. Not much for Hoshido however, the plot is really straightforward. Could the plots and characters have been written better for both? Hell yes but it is what it is I 100% agree with you on the games being too black and white though. It's becoming a bit dull for me in all honesty.
  14. Everyone jumps on the hate train really quickly on this forum. Especially those that have played older games. So it probably looks as though the vast majority hate this or that mechanic but there are plenty of people who do like the plot and just simply enjoy the series as a whole. There are hardcore players and there are casual players, it's fairly obvious who makes the most noise on this forum between the two. But seriously different strokes for different blokes, tit for tat.
  15. The way they did MU in Mystery of the Emblem was pretty good IMO. MU had very little story significance even the ending is MU basically saying "nah man you take all the credit even though I carried your entire army" to Marth. Sure the supports where god awful among other flaws but I liked the idea. Marth simply relied on MU a lot and not much else, just being a strong support role for him. I'd love to see that in the new FE game
