  1. I'm looking into modding FE9, but I'm having an issue. I'm using GC Tool v1.2 to extract and replace files and Windhex to edit the data. Inside the ISO for FE9 is the file FE8Data.bin, which I'm pretty sure is the file containing data for characters, classes, etc. I'm not sure what is happening, but, any alterations I make are not showing up when I boot the game up in dolphin, but the game runs just fine making me think that something is going wrong in the process of altering the game data. Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
  2. Fire Emblem: Awakening uses a font called Chiaro Std B Bold, which is the same font The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask use. (Not the 3DS remakes, however.) It can be found here. 7th down from the top. Unfortunately I couldn't quiiiiiteee get the spacing and formatting 100% accurate to in-game, but if anyone figures it out for a 240p image, let me know!   3. I have absolutely no idea how to use this thing. I'm making a hack in which almost everything and everyone uses magic so I wanted to add some magic items with low durability and accuracy bit high power. Here's an example: Dandelion Uses:5 Mt:8 Hit%:65 Weight:1 Critical%:5 Range:1 Animation:Excalibur Weapon Rank:E But...I literally don't know what does what in this module, if someone can guide me step-by-step to turning the Emblem Sword into this thing I'll gladly listen to them. UPDATE: Thank you everyone for helping me out, with some experimenting and reading I managed to make the Dandelion work properly. Now how do I tag this as answered?

  5. Hi all, I wanted to ask if anyone can explain to me how to find the addresses corresponding to the weapons in dolphin debug mode? Like if you want to change the might or hit rate of the slim sword in general. I already know how to calculate the offset values to change character stats, how to add items to the character, add skills. But as for editing weapons, I have no idea how to find the addresses in debug mode to calculate the offset for items. I hope someone can help me with this and explain it to me. Thanks in advance
  6. I was wondering how I can use the character banner and character forcer patches on a ROM that I've been working on for quite some time? Apart from already testing it out and finding out that it doesn't work on non fresh ROMs. How do I get those two "effects" onto my hack? Do I really need to start over in order to the effects from the two patches?

  8. I have been following this link (http://feuniverse.us/t/repointing-tutorial/584) for trying to repoint/expand, but I have been running into problems. I do not know how to find addresses of the tables (items, characters, classes) and I am wondering if there's a simpler explanation for this tutorial. By simpler, I mean an actual video showing all of this. English was not my first language, hence I hope to be able to see it being done rather than assume what the article is referring to in some instances. I can do portraits, events, and maps easy, but I wanna expand the data (possibly using free space or just new data at the end of the hex editor). If no video is available, I would love if pictures of the steps for expansion is available. I understand the calculations fine, but I really need to know how to find the starting addresses for characters, classes, items, etc. Items is: : 0xBE222c if I recall correctly, but what about the others. Any info to know in addition for easier results?
  9. All right. I have a bit of a problem to deal with. Basically I imported the animations of a female Hero from FE6 to FE8 and the animations worked fine. Next, I changed the female Mercenary's promotion path into just the female Hero via the Promotion Branch Editor module. And again, it worked fine. However, the issue comes into play when I branched the promotion paths of the female Mercenary; to the standard options of female Ranger and female Hero. When I tried to promote the class, the game stalls at a black screen as it gets to the choosing part.The music continues to play but the game itself freezes. I tested again, but with the male Hero as an option instead of the female one, and it worked. Finally, I tested it with another class with a custom animation and the game freezes once again. I figured out that it was the custom animations that was causing the problem, but I just can't get a solution for it. (The indices of the imported and custom animations are CA and beyond fyi so does it have to do something with it?) I'm a complete n00b when it comes to hex editing but does it have to do something with it? Sorry if this is long-winded but I tried to give as much detail as I could. Do I have to resort to single-path promotions with custom animations or is there a way to have branched promotions with them?

    Must Play Hacks?

    Sorry if there's already a similar topic, I didn't see any. Anyway, what are the best FE hacks out there (any game)? Preferably hacks with a good story and no reused maps, preferably a bit of custom GFX but that's not the most important thing. I'm about to try Dream of Five for my first hack, as the trailer looks cool and I've heard the game is challenging.
  14. I'm working on a mini-hack for FE7 for practice and I want to make it so you don't have to choose between Harken and Karel, does anyone know how to remove the conditions for those two to appear at the end of turn 9 in the chapter they appear in so they both show up?
  15. So I dipped into rom hacking recently, and while my first hack was decent at best and abysmal at worst, I would like to begin on a much larger project. A full custom hack called Fire Emblem Utopia. I've been thinking of ways to make it stand out from other hacks for quite a while.you know, 3 days lol. And this idea came to me today, one map for every "chapter" that is quite large and is meant to be the entire in game world. In other words, a open world FE game. Tho this isn't my only idea for this hack, it is the biggest one that I would like to implement, and as such I am curious if either FE 7 or 8 can support such a sizable map. I would stick with FE 6 but you can't do as much with nightmare as you can in 7 or 8, but if 6 is more workable with this concept, I will go back to it and forego FE2 bow range as a feature. So in short is this workable, a good idea, or completely bonkers. other ideas for project Utopia are a fully custom story, custom characters, a custom world set on a island, custom soundtrack, and a bunch of other nifty features. I haven't decided on much for this hack yet other these few things that I know will be implemented regardless of where the hack winds up down the road. the Syphon Filter theme will replace the FE theme in the main menu because nostalgia and bows will have 1-5 range like in Gaiden because why not. I would put screenies but I haven't even properly started on this yet and don't even know if this is a good idea, so I made this thread to disscuss my plans for this project and learn if they would even be good ideas.

Okay, after finally getting FEditor working, I started work on a little hacking project of mine that I won't go into detail about because if I can get some help figureing this out, there will soon be a seperate thread all about this project. Anyway, how do you turn your work into a IPS patch so I can make it availible for download here. Also, does one have to use dropbox or can you use a direct download link on this site. honestly, I know these are likely stupid questions but outside of a few youtube videos YEARS ago, this will be my first time uploading anything here other than a post If it helps, the hack is of FE 6, don't know if that matters.

  18. I have a question for some of you Fire Emblem Awakening players who also own Powersaves. If one were to add an Exalted Falchion before, Mount Prism and completed Mount Prism would the game crash, take away the two falchions, or take only the one Falchion? I need to know this so I can get Grima's Truth to test...
  19. Hey guys I have run into a problem with FE6 while trying to hack it with nightmare. Well I used the portrait changer thing in character editor section and changed wolts character number and description to that of Brunya and even changed his pallette to her color pretty neat that one has pallette part in the simple unit editor. Anyway the problem I am running into is the changes I make to Wolt or any other character by changing their pallette, growths and portrait don`t stay! they only stay while the game is on but as soon as I say reset the game or suspend the chapter than turn back on my Brunya is just a generic mage with none of the special growths or even pallette I set to her why is that? I have also had crashing problems with the game at around chapter 2 where it just freezes and won`t go beyond chapter 2... So am I messing something up? or missing any parts? or is changing portraits more complicated than just simply clicking on a few drop down boxes and such heh you know how nightmare is.
  20. Hello there geniuses of the fire emblem hacking community! I'm going to just try and get to the point with this one: So I've downloaded Nightmare Modules (original) and attempted to start up the application. Every time I do this, I receive and error message telling me I do not have permission to do this. (This has never happened to me on any other application, plus this is the only account on this computer) I'm using Norton, and after the error message occurs, Norton tells me that Nightmare is a harmful file, then immediately deletes said file. What do? If this helps at all, I'm running on Windows 8, and downloading Nightmare Original Program off of this website: http://www.feshrine.net/hacking/nightmare.php

  23. Hello my fellows. As I recently finished my german translation of Fire Emblem 12 when it comes to ingame-text, I still wonder how I can successfully edit the graphics of the game. I think it must be very similar to FE11 but I could not find a guide about it either. So I am stuck at this point of development and have to ask for help. In the last 5 months I tried several tools to get results but everything failed. So if anyone is capable of helping me, I would be very grateful. This is almost the last part to finish my translation and it would be really sad if the text-graphics would be still the same. Everyone who is interested in the project can of course download the current beta from my website. I hope there is someone who can show me how to achieve this.
  24. Alright since I can`t seem to find it maybe someone else knows where. Well I wanted to know if there was a music array editor in nightmare for Fire Emblem Sacred Stones?? I searched a lot online for one but i can`t find one I know FE7 has one but FE8? as I noticed my choice of music is quite limited with what is there now er other songs just seem to cut off right after a battle Though if there is not a music array editor for it then it`s cool.
  25. Hey guys I've been wondering how do you load the patches for fire emblem games? I really want to get a hack rom patch for either Sacred stones or even Blazing Sword. I have a mac laptop and I use the Openemu as a emulator.
