  1. Everyday I see begginer hackers coming up here posting a "dumb" question That could easily be solved, so this is why I decided to create this topic. What to do before you post here? 1: See if you can't solve the problem yourself. Sometimes, the rom can glitch out because you simply forgot an hex edit somewhere. so, be sure to double check everytime if something doesn't work. 2: See if another question thread has the same question answered. You can try to search for the question you are asking to see if someone hasnt already solved your problem. 3: Read the doc. This is the most important part, as your problem may already be documented and fixes may have already been made. common places to look for these are feuniverse.us and The resources section of this forum.
  2. I have decided to use the program Nightmare recently on Fire Emblem:Blazing Sword to create a new, unique experience for me within the game. However, I have a few questions regarding it and I am having some problems with the program that I would like to get resolved asap. 1.Every time I edit the map music, after an animation is started, the music is cut out and won't come back until the next phase. How do I fix this? 2.I was using a randomized rom of FE7 because I saw my base class for Lowen was archer and I wanted to make him a mercenary. If I want to do this, do I have to use a regular rom for FE7 without messing with it or there another way? 3.How do I increase the enemy growth rate's of characters without using the Randomizer and how do I activate Hard Mode Bonuses on Eliwood Hard Mode? Thank you for taking your time for reading this and helping me out with these Nightmare problems. Its just that this is quite a "nightmare" for me! lol

So I decided to begin my first playthrough through FE , I heard that some legendary weapons are enemy locked, and also that they require major holy blood, that none of my characters will have in the game, so I ask for: - Tips - Ways to unlock the unobtainable holy weapons or holy blood - And also the so called tips for pairings, to unlock other legendary weapons - + How to aqurie/hack and use siege tomes and dark magic

  6. Hello! So, I've been on again off again messing around with learning how to hack fe7 for a while now. Recently though, I decided that for my first actual project, I'd really like to try and move on to fe8 because it's what all the cool kids are doing, and it's my favorite in the series. Only issue is now I have to figure out what I can and can't keep doing from what I've been learning. I know that the Ultimate Guide goes over both, but given how many people are starting to hack fe8 all of a sudden, I figured it was worth asking again. 1. Can mugs and character battle animations formatted for fe7 be used in fe8 without having to edit them? 2. Are there any changes that I have to make to fe7 events to make them work in fe8? Specifically, I use Eventiel ( http://tebrigade.b1.jcink.com/index.php?act=Pages&pid=2 ) for the base of my events, and add in the smaller details afterwards. I included the event data for an (unfinished) early chapter I was making in the spoiler at the bottom of the post. If there's anything major that needs changing for fe8, could you point it out to me? 3. Random extra question, is it possible to give a "use" effect to a weapon (similar to the Fruit Knife in fates)? Sorry for all the newbie questions, I'm pretty out of the loop when it comes to this sort of thing.
  7. Hi, I'm new to forums so I hope this is in the right spot and stuff. Anyway, I'm just getting into FE8 modding and specifically the Battle Palette modding. I want to change the way a necromancer looks in battle and his sprite and all that. I've checked around google and I couldn't find anything so I figured that I could post a topic somewhere. Can anyone direct me to a Battle Palette Reference Nightmare Module that contains a battle palette for a necromancer? or does that not exist. Thanks :D
  8. Hi, guys! After more or less successfully clearing Birthright on Hard Mode, I am attempting to conquer Conquest (get it?) on Hard next. I made it past Chapter 10 with my low-man strategy and it worked semi-well with my current strategy setup. I wanted to ask you guys what you think of my idea and how I could improve/change it. The thing I'm doing is: I always have my units paired up to block enemy Dual Strikes and I will leave one of the two units as pair-up fodder for the other, i.e. they won't get any EXP past Dual Guards. I may Master Seal them to give the lead unit better bonuses. Here are the pairings I'm currently planning to go with. Lead unit will be named first. +Str/-Lck Avatar + Great Lord!Selena (both will be trained) Archer!Mozu + Lodestar!Silas Camilla + Keaton (currently Beruka) Leo + Felicia Witch!Elise + Odin Xander + Charlotte I do plan on getting some of the kids and training them up. Kana and Velouria come to mind, but I'm not sure yet. The units mentioned above will do most of the fighting. The rest of the team will either consist of children or filler units, which will be benched later on (like Effie and Arthur or Niles for example). Anyway, for those of you who already cleared Conquest: Is this approach favorable? Or will I hit Rock Bottom soon enough and if so, how could I prevent it from happening?   9. So I've heard about Bond Units, and I'm working on getting some. They're pretty much randomly customized Avatars with Personal Skills depending on what versions the two players they're created from have. They inherit Nohr Prince(ss) and the secondaries of their parents. What I want to know is: -How do their max stat modifiers work? Do they inherit them like child units do, or do they have randomized assets/flaws depending on the parents? -Can they use Dragon Vein? -How many accessories do you need to share with another player to get one?
  10. I currently have Birthright and I'm trying to recruit other people's units in their castle. I want the Nohr siblings. I've beaten other castles from Nohr games using no handicaps and in my castle, but I still can't recruit units. I also seized their castle as well. After beating them, I get the message "Would you like to add a character to your log book" and that's it. I've heard it should say "would you like to recruit?" Am I doing something wrong? And what should I do to get the Nohr siblings recruited in my game?
  11. I'm looking into modding FE9, but I'm having an issue. I'm using GC Tool v1.2 to extract and replace files and Windhex to edit the data. Inside the ISO for FE9 is the file FE8Data.bin, which I'm pretty sure is the file containing data for characters, classes, etc. I'm not sure what is happening, but, any alterations I make are not showing up when I boot the game up in dolphin, but the game runs just fine making me think that something is going wrong in the process of altering the game data. Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
  12. I'm new to making posts on this website s please bear with me. I have spent hours trying to din out where the swords "Lucina's Replica-Sword", "Marth Replica-Sword", and "Ike Replica-Sword". I've seen them on wikis with no location included, and the only thing i could find is another person asking the same question on gamefaqs without an answer. With all this, I'm led to believe that maybe its not out yet, or that its very common and easy to find and im just overlooking a crucial detail. But, on multiple accounts, when visiting castles and initiating castle battles, their units have had all three of these swords (cant find them again, but if i do, ill post pics if needed) i know this is a long thing, sorry, just kinda in desparation. tl;dr : i dont know where the lucina, marth, and ike replica-sword in game items are, need to know where or if theyre out yet. Thanks in advance!!~

I'll ask the first question: What do the different background colors mean in the Skinships? Ex: Xander's background is dark blue, Lazward's is green, etc?
  14. Well, this is technically my second attempt at a Tearring Saga run, but I got few questions anyway so I don't wind up screwed this time around. 1. Is it just me, or is weapon durability absurdly high in this game? I mean, a iron axe comes with 88 uses for crying out loud. Is the game just that long to justify so many uses for weapons, or does the game handle weapons similarly to FE4? 2. During my first run, when I got to Holmes route, I started letting that dragon girl roflstomp everything since I could grind EXP for everyone else in between battles. Is there a problem with this strategy lategame beyond stolen EXP? 3. I stopped my first run due to a glitch with the translation patch crashing the game. I've read that one could just switch to a Japanese version to get past that part, which is one of the two reasons I've started a second run. The other being Vestaria Saga and FE Fates hype Would returning to the translated rom after getting past Map 19 allow to keep playing the game in engrish past that point, or am I stuck with the Japanese version from chap. 19 onward? Thanks in advance.
  15. Nyx is a Vampire everyone (jk). Since Nyx has been cursed not to age... How old do you estimate she really is? I personally think around 35 or so. Also, is Nyx a good unit to use? I've heard mixed things about her; but, I need some ideas for her setup/skills/whatever you wanna call it (when I get the game that is). Thanks in advance! ^.^

So this is when I realize that I will never play my Nohr game, and I want more save slots for the IK - I first bought the IK on my Hoshido cartridge, but when I put in my Nohr cartridge, the game files for my IK run shows up as well (which makes sense since it saves to your SD card, I believe). My question is, is it possible for me to buy the IK route again, for the extra three save files ? I currently have 2/3 save files for IK saved, and they're duplicates in case I make the dumb mistake of deleting my file again. Since you have to buy the route through the decision screen (at least that's what I did the first time, and I believe that you cannot buy it through the E-shop) won't it just automatically force me to use that third file or something ? Or will it let me buy the game again if I save over all three slots ? Also, I'm like three chapters into my Nohr run on Normal / Casual (meaning I've started it but haven't reached the decision point, but it's on the Nohr cartridge), since it was going to be a speedrun; I'm planning on stopping there and starting fresh for the IK route. I know you can reuse your avatar and it keeps your stats (as well as personalized information such as attributes and whatnot), but will I have the option to change the difficulty to Lunatic, or will it stick with the difficulty I picked when the character was first created ? I'm really bad with DLCs and everything since FE:if's the first time I've used them, so sorry about the abundance of questions ! Regarding my uncertainties about character creation info and stuff, I can't check myself since my DS is dead atm and I'm out without my charger ; u ;

  18. Upon assembling my event in Event Assembler the message it gives me is: Finished. Messages: Tutorials disabled 1 warnings encountered: #ifdef's are missing at the end So even though it reports no errors, the event data is apparently not written into the game's data, and though I've tried to look it up and fix this error myself, I can't find anything regarding #ifdefs. (Also, if it changes anything, I'm using Fire shell Zeta as a base ROM.) So, my question is , what are #ifdefs and how do I fix this? Here is the event code

  20. Since I started hacking about a week ago, I've more or less been working on the bare bones of my project, just getting the hang of things. Now that I'm getting into the meat of hacking though, I did come across a few questions. I'm pretty sure they're all simple enough not to warrant individual topics, though. 1. Is it possible to change the level limit on a per class basis, and if so, how? (Example: Marth from FE1 could be LV. 30) 2. If I insert some maps for testing, but later decide to change them up (be it tileset / size / etc.) can I simply re-insert them over the old maps, or would they take up a different amount of space now? 3. Same as above, but for events (added in an event without text to test, later inserting same event, but with text / more in it) 4, How do I go about setting if a unit is weak to bows? 5. How do I go about setting the terrain movement of classes? Thank you!

  22. Hello again SF, long time not playing FE (Like... 3 years X_X). How I missed this site, but that it's another tale. One year ago I recieved as a gift this wonderful game~, I started playing it after 6 months and... I screwed a lot in it. I'm a person that uses Google to search, and I wanted some info but I found a lot of GFaqs things and... well you know about it. So I want to try this game again but in a some serious matter: 1. I would like to play in Lunatic (I played in Hard and was a little too much, but I like to risk it (First play)). 2. I know the basics around the game and this is one flaw I had with my search of information. 3. I can't use DLC. So, after this, I want to ask you some questions: 1. The information here in SF, it's more accurate than anything? 2. There are some important threads to be read? Won't you mind to share them with me? I know that there are a lot of threads that looks the same and mine is... a lot same as others, I'm truly sorry about this u_u. Thanks.
  23. Recently a user posted in the pairing thread asking how skill inheritance works. While it wasn't really appropriate to ask the question there, a new thread can't be created every time a user has a small question. The purpose of this thread is in the title, user asks a simple question and gets a simple answer. Hopefully this will stop people from creating new threads or posting in the wrong thread when they have small questions.
  24. First time using Nightmare and I can do class changes and chapter unit changes. But when I try and change Lyn (Tutorial) in document to Mark (Just testing.) I also use Guy's portrait and change class to myrmidon, but the name comes out as Buy. http://gyazo.com/84604827a0ed28b8a0a809adfb4aa0eb I have no idea why this happens.
  25. Hey guys I have run into a problem with FE6 while trying to hack it with nightmare. Well I used the portrait changer thing in character editor section and changed wolts character number and description to that of Brunya and even changed his pallette to her color pretty neat that one has pallette part in the simple unit editor. Anyway the problem I am running into is the changes I make to Wolt or any other character by changing their pallette, growths and portrait don`t stay! they only stay while the game is on but as soon as I say reset the game or suspend the chapter than turn back on my Brunya is just a generic mage with none of the special growths or even pallette I set to her why is that? I have also had crashing problems with the game at around chapter 2 where it just freezes and won`t go beyond chapter 2... So am I messing something up? or missing any parts? or is changing portraits more complicated than just simply clicking on a few drop down boxes and such heh you know how nightmare is.
