  1. I know this was odd, but I got into a bit of trouble and now I have to redo everything. I'll update this thread when everything's right again.
  2. Hello everyone, and welcome to... THE LACK OF A CUSTOM TITLE SCREEN! Uh, wait, I mean... DEATH OR GLORY! Death or Glory is an FE7 hack by NYZ Gamer. It's story and gameplay are all custom, using plenty of custom animations and mugs. The story revolves around a generic soldier named Ragnar, who aims to make a difference in a large war. It contains 15 levels(13 chapters + the prologue and a gaiden), which is actually the same as the second-to-most-recent patch, which I played. The newest patch just makes massive changes to the gameplay and dialogue of the existing chapters. I honestly have to say that it needed it. Before, the gameplay and story could be described as "mediocre". But has it really improved? Is it a better hack now? We will find out! The thread for the hack(and the patch) can be found here. Also, I have a few notes I'd like to make: 1: I'll be doing the same prelude/gameplay/conclusion thing I did for Road to Ruin, at least after the first few chapters. 2: I wasn't able to get a growths sheet, so no character growths. Sorry :C 3: This hack is way better than Corrupt Theocracy, so you and I both will have to switch out of criticism mode. NEXT TIME, WE ACTUALLY START!
  3. Well, I think I'm finally ready to kick off my next journey and it's... ...This? Yeah, I did say I was going to hold off until the Hard Mode version to do an LP of this hack, but sod it, I'm an impatient critter and I could use a hack I'm quite well experienced with to do a nice relaxing run after suffering through FE7if. But yeah...long story short, this hack is near & dear to me, being one of the first FE hacks I ever played through and beat multiple times. Is this hack perfect? Not at all. There are a few minor nitpicks I have with it, but they're much more bearable than what irked me about FE7if. Also, since this is an english hack and I can read the text, that means I might make some random quips about the story or whatever. We'll see. Anyways...I say we kick this journey off, shall we? [spoiler=Prologue & Ch1: Dammit Shon!] Long story short, humans & dragons lived together in peace, but dragons are dingbats and decided to revolt, forcing the humans to bail out and start new lives in non-dragon populated zones. Peace would prosper for some time, but... The empire of Magnus decided to invade Castle Aegis because, hell, some empire or nation has to be the power hungry one, am I right? On the right, Emperor Louis just woke up from a siesta and decides to imprison everyone in Castle Aegis, including Duke Paul on the left. Louis MIGHT have wanted to just straight up kill him and the rest of Aegis's inhabitants while one of his lackeys assumes leadership of the castle. This will no doubt come back to bite him in the ass sometime in the future. Flash forward to the present where a father & son are forced to fight a small ragtag band of Magnus lackeys intent on taking the father's life because, eh, random lottery winnings I guess. Anyways, enough talking, time to talk about our father & son duo. This one is Siegfried, a promoted unit with oddly low bases. This is the result of taking some nasty injuries some amount of time ago as his description states. Luckily, this isn't going to hamper him right now as he can hold his own pretty well against the current enemies. Should he get some levels, you'll be well rewarded as his growths are pretty good, especially in strength, skill, and speed. While Siegfried might only being using a sword here, he can also use spears if you happen to stumble across any. Meanwhile, Shon's more in line with your typical early game unit. His issue is not his growths which, while not as high as his dad's, are still respectable aside from defense & resistance. No, the issue is his con. While he also has the option of using spears, anything at an Iron Spear level or higher is going to slow him down fairly decently. Thankfully, he's got his own personal weapon, the Piercing Sword, which is effective on mounted & armored units, to work with early on. Siegfried kicks it off by visiting this house, getting some useful supplies for the early game. Why not send Shon to do this? He's got a personal sidequest to do that spans two thirds of the hack, that's why. You see, Shon has to kill every single enemy on this map, including the boss, without Siegfried getting into any battles of any kind, even if it's just to meatshield. Shon goes here to lure out the first group of enemies. Might seem risky allowing him to be attacked from two sides, but he'll be fine. He's got Vulneraries. Worse comes to worse, he can backup a bit and make them come one at a time for easier handling. Oh hey, enemies without 40+ hp from the word go. That's nice! Shon dodges quite well here and damages both of his attackers good. To boot, he kills off his first two attackers and keeps on dodging a third one, gaining his first level. Could be a bit better, but it's still the early game so no worries. Shon moves to his second point of interest with the intent on luring out the last Soldier and wiping him out over the course of the next turn or so. He does take a hit from the spear user, but that's fine since the Fighter whiffed and got killed on an enemy phase. Boss time! Byron's nothing special, but take note of his Elixirs. Shon can't one round him with the Piercing Sword, doing just enough damage with two hits that Byron would use his Elixir to heal up. As such, Shon's going to start out with the Iron Sword to do some chip damage, then finish him off with a double whack of the Piercing Sword. This will all be done via counters because Byron can easily two shot Shon from full health, meaning Shon needs to use Vulneraries to keep healthy. As opposed to Batta the Beast? Anyways, he & Shon trade blows with one another. Shon heals himself with a Vulnerary after switching over to his Piercing Sword. The next enemy phase is basically the RNG screwing over Byron hard, resulting in him taking a critical to the face and going down, netting Shon a good level in the process. Now that Magnus knows where Siegfried is, he needs to leave, deciding to tell Shon to effectively fuck off because he doesn't want to put his son in harm's way more or less, ending part 1 of the prologue. Yes, there's a part 2 to the prologue. By having Shon solo everything, you'll have fulfilled one of the three parts of Shon's game spanning personal sidequest and get a chance to pick up a bit of extra experience. Only one enemy in prologue II to take out and that's Shon's best friend, Corben, in a friendly duel. Corben's quite well equipped, even having a Javelin for ranged combat. Basically, Shon can end this fight in two hits with his Piercing Sword, but he can't miss once. If he does, he's likely getting taken down between counterattacks and Javelin hijinks. Also, after this chapter, Corben will join the team with the exact same stats & equipment seen here. Growths are roughly on par with Shon with the exception of a pretty good luck growth and decent defense growth. More importantly, 10 con is going to allow him to handle spears much better than Shon can. *Price is Right losing horn sound effect here* Note to self: Don't attack Corben on a tile where he's going to duck into a forest for more evasion (62% chance to land a Piercing Sword hit in a forest, yay). This is where I should have begun the assault from. That way, Corben won't move into a forest for more evasion, giving Shon a much better chance to land the finishing blow on turn 2 to end the prologue and send everyone to chapter 1. This is your fault Siegfried. If you actually brought Shon with you and protected him like a good father would, you wouldn't have to pull out your dammit card so soon. Pictured: What every enemy in chapter 1 is more or less. Some have different weapons like a Steel Axe or Hand Axe. Siegfried handed off his equipment to the ones who can actually get good exp here and acts as a meatshield in a forest. Shon was pretty close to a level up at the end of prologue II so it didn't take long to get this. A pretty good one since he could really do with the extra strength & defenses. After a couple turns, this curious fellow appears. He's an enemy and, yet, he decides to report back to his superior rather than take down Siegfried now. Probably for the best, who knows? Corben sure knows the best way to get rid of any pesky enemy. Despite all the Brigands that have been attacking Siegfried, he's only taken one hit so far this chapter. Not like the other Brigands are having any better luck landing hits though. Corben finishes off a Brigand, getting a solid first level up. More misses from the enemy units! Shon prepares to lure out a pair of Brigands by the boss by killing one in the south, getting an acceptable level up. He keeps this up and he'll start doubling more or less everything in the first part of the game quickly. Not much else needs to be said. The rest of the Brigands fail to take out Shon or Corben. Corben picks up this good level dropping one of them. As for the boss, he's apparently decided to equip some armor so he can tank while using that Steel Axe. "But my weapon is effective on armored units. Are you not wearing armor yourself?" "...Oops." Yeah, the boss is easy with the Piercing Sword. Shon can even afford to attack on the player phase if he wants. If he gets hit, Corben & Siegfried can do some rescuing hijinks to get him away to safety. Praise is good and all, but this dingbat was proclaiming that Magnus wouldn't bother attacking a quaint little village like this. Wrong! Siegfried & the others set out for their next destination as chapter 1 nears its end. Kevin reports back to his superior, General Howard. Due to his failure to even keep tabs on Siegfried, Kevin gets reassigned to some random outpost that Siegfried will probably pass by in due time. That probably means he'll be recruitable, who knows. Death Count: Shon (1) Next time: Actual non mounted units for Siegfried's army! [spoiler=Growths & Comments (Siegfried, Shon, Corben)] Siegfried's growths: Hp: 120% Luk: 40% Str: 70% Def: 60% Skl: 90% Res: 40% Spd: 90% Siegfried's status as a promoted unit of sorts is going to hamper his chances to level easily early on. A pain, given his bases and how they could use some work. Once he can get levels though, those growths will help to get him on track pretty quickly. Shon's growths: Hp: 70% Luk: 35% Str: 40% Def: 25% Skl: 50% Res: 25% Spd: 45% Shon's growths aren't too bad besides those defensive growths, but given his bases in strength, defense, and speed, he'll need to hit those three at a decent clip if he doesn't want to be left in the dust. Corben's growths: Hp: 85% Luk: 50% Str: 40% Def: 30% Skl: 50% Res: 20% Spd: 35% While that speed growth is a bit worrying, his excellent luck growth combined with his good base there is likely going to allow him to stuff enemy criticals pretty well. Having 10 con also helps him to wield a good selection of spears with little to no AS loss early on.
  4. It's back! I promised I would give you a Hector sided run, so I'm giving you guys a Hector-sided run! Lots of images of Wire being chipped away at this chapter [spoiler=Chapter 11] This should be interesting... And I have the fix patch now so he won't de-promote! This Hector is capable of doubling! And he gets speed! Hector that was amazing Expect to see this till he goes down Damage is good YES Took forever due to the Vulnerary he had... But it was extra EXP for Hector
  5. >.> <.< I got bored for a bit doing my 2nd FE7CM LP and turned to FE8girls I'm frankly enjoying it. But why should I be the only one to enjoy it? Let's have you guys enjoy it too! Don't worry, I'll do both fe7cm and this together, I have too much time on my hands... ... I need a life. [spoiler=Okay This Need Fixing] Let's do it. EVERYONE HAS FEMALE SPRITES BUT NOT MUGS. Japanese making shenanigan within events. Ninian stronger than Eirika confirmed. Then everything went dark and shit Valter On a horsebird Suddenly, his creepiness level ascended to infinite and beyond. Lalala Glitched Restarts. Still happen. I guess this patch doesn't work. . .. ... NEW TRY New patch, new effort! But hmm, that three fighters are new to me. Whatever. Hmm... Fighter with Handaxe. Definitely new. Pighole tactic. Oh apparently they have auto regen every turn phase, with the lord's being the strongest regen. Slow grinding. Eirika need xps. NICE LEVEL GURL Okay let's wait here. But he doesn't budge. So I attack him instead. Meh. Uh... What do I do? I have no keys. . .. ... I'm screwed. [spoiler=For real this time.] Yay for English patch? WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR STATS I put Eirika in the choke. Smash? Valter shows up with that OP STATS. ...heh valter on falcoknight still get me. NOPE. (I was late in killing the ugly bastard.) restart. LET'S DO THIS INSTEAD. Turn 1 Kill op Okay fighters are dead now. Valter's right there waiting for me... Eeek Dances. To FREEDOM ... I hate japanese kanji. I wanna read story too!
  6. I'm stuck at home today, on a liquid diet, no less~! What better way to pass the time than to make everyone just as miserable as me? This is an idea I've been throwing around for a bit. Here's what not to expect: - Humor - Any sort of efficiency - Me being competent - Anything that'll hinder me TOO much Instead. . .I'll describe which units I'm going to use, as I go through this hack (version Christmas). There's a pattern to who's in and who's not, but there's be a couple of exceptions. - Marcus gets to stay until I get another competent staff user - Anyone who's forced in the final chapter gets to stay, full stop (this includes Ninian, because she influences Nils so damn much) Let's go~! Chapter 11
  7. Title says it all. I come back with a whole new randomization. I am a masochist for sure. Sure wonder what Ninian I get this run. [spoiler=Masochism Begins] Running with my first word instead. Arulle isn't supposed to be a tactician anyway :O this TÍŸHis/ used to identify a specific person or thing close at hand or being indicated or experienced. There, gave you the definition. Lyn Lord, while I did get Lyn Lord once before when I first got Klok's chaos mode but it didn't go great. Let' see what this one has in store for us. HEAL SLAVE DETECTED Carrying an energy ring is rather amusing. Then again, one run before this (in a curiosity of how items are randomized to each character and class.) He'd got two stats booster, a speedwing and a goddess's statue if i recalls it correctly. First off as usual... WALL BREAKING I shove the ring to Hector, Matthew isn't going to be much use for later chapter anyway as seen with his growths. That hit makes me all fuzzy on inside. MOVE BITCH YOU'RE SO WEAK YOU CAN GET ONE SHOT BY ANYTHING. Hector get hit and repays twice the interest in a critical. I don't need keys to be fair... Switched these two items so Matt heal and Hector open. After thief opens his side of door, I use it. HEY GIVE THAT BACK. Let's do this. Hector tears him a new one. Hector has the speed and power! allplanned.jpg Matthew is having fun with his shaft. Mani Katti crit isn't a joke. Dodge. Then I remembered something. Oops. HOW DARE YOU MISS ONE. Matt loots. He goes and use one stock of vulnerary, that bastard. Not like he'd live anyway. Rooming it up. Now moving along... Hector leads the lone charge. This is basically how much Hector does with Mani Katti... SO OP. MORE OP Lvl for matt Well Unlock is infinite so... It takes at most 3 uses of Unlock to get a level I suppose. (40 xp per unlock i think) No contest. And Hector tops it by critical killing the poor armor assassin. [spoiler=Clones. Clones everywhere.] Violence is best solution in that era though. . . HUH!? Well, in this case, the only follow-up is the fact last time Eliwood was Knight that promoted into a Dragoon, so I guess I should be graceful that at least this time they're identical for real. Hero Marcus inc. Nah. Nah x2 I'll take it. Better than last time.jpg I'll take it as well. MONSTER No.jpg Starting off with this~ Hector become buff Poor pegasus knights. No way in hell am I using her. 15 hp. FIFTEEN FUCKING HP. worse than other pegasus knights. Marcus is worth using, if that speed won't bite him in the ass. Heh. WHY Oh you were just building up suspension. Nope. Marcus can't dodge it seem. Hector one shot everyone in this map. They didn't like him it seem. Top is pretty much cleared. Thing happens at bottom. HECTOR PLS Oswin clean up for his master. Matt hide. Things happen with horsebirds. BOSS FIGHT! And it hangs. How did I forget that one? Back here. Savestate is important! He get hit this time though. But that looks weird. Hector makes her bite the dust. Marcus chips for Eliwood to kill and get his first level.
  8. Hello everyone this is my let's Play of Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon. For those that aren't familiar Shining Force is a turn based tactical RPG made by Sega. Resurrection of the Dark Dragon is a gba remake of the original Shining Force game on the Sega Genesis. I'll start posting the screenshot's in a bit mainly after I figure out how to use the spoiler thing. Character gained/ Growths thing
  9. Well, while I'm waiting for the final official version of FE7 Chaos Mode to come out, I might as well play through another FE hack while waiting. That's the good news. The bad news.... ...I'm playing THIS hack. This is FE7if, the infamous japanese hack. New music, "new" characters, difficulty boost, the works. Some of the stuff seen here is even stolen from the English community I believe. Granted, my memory is going to be cloudy on what exactly is stolen, but what I do know is the difficulty. Good lord the difficulty. We'll get to THAT as the game progresses. I intend to plow through Lyn's story within 3-4 updates, max, before the REAL bullcrap begins. As such, there will be very little in the way of talking about my battle actions during her story, just some explanations about a few things as we go along here. Ideally, I'd like to get out an update or two per day as I'm rarely busy during the day. With that...first update! [spoiler=Prologue to ch3: Where my sanity begins its slow decent into nothingness] Lyn Hard Mode go! I'm not one to sit through boring tutorials. Random blood type selection and my birth month (May) Actual changes are getting into play now. Besides weapons having more uses overall and rebalanced stats, characters are also changed. In Lyn's case here, she's still speedy as all hell, but her defenses need work. Thankfully, her growths have been increased something fierce...but of course, defense is her one bad growth. Not good! Of course, when characters get rebalanced, so too do the enemies, in particular hp. One thing this hack fucks up on is the fact everything merely has inflated stats. We'll be seeing enemies with massive hp pools much sooner than you think. Bosses get inflated too...although this poor sucker manages to be weaker overall than his cohort except for an extra point of hp. Anyways, nothing to really say about strategy here. Lyn parks her ass on a forest, lets the first Brigand come on over so she can tear him apart, then walks up to the boss and starts ending her turns. He can two shot Lyn. Like so. She'd have to get lucky as hell to not die if she were to attack herself. As such, she'll kill off the boss with counter attacks, using a Vulnerary to heal each time she's hit. Thank god Vulneraries are 5 uses and heals 15 hp per use as she needed three doses to put down the boss. First level up! Despite her low defense growth, she hits that and plenty others, making it a solid first level up. No strength sadly, but her cap there is rather low so there's plenty of time for that to catch up. That's the prologue complete. On to chapter 1 where two new party members join. Kent & Sain, the typical cav duo. One usually focuses on strength, the other skill & speed. Here though, that's a bit different. Sain still has his usual high strength & hp growths, but also has a equally high luck growth. Poor skill, speed, and lowish defensive growths though. For Kent, he's more balanced. That's usually asking for the RNG to come and own your poor character's ass in level ups. Also, that luck base makes him prone to getting crit early on. It might be only a 2-4% chance, but that can easily come up and bite you in the ass. Anyways, not much else to say about chapter 1. Everyone attacks from a forest when possible to minimize chances to be hit with Sain & Kent swapping their sole Iron Sword around so both can get in on some action. Sain grabs his first level fairly quickly. Can't argue about speed, simple as that. Bosses are pretty bland early on, not gonna lie. Weapon type advantages got changed too. It's +3 Mt & +10 Hit if you have the advantage against your opponent's weapon type. Anyways, Sain & Kent weaken the boss so Lyn can get the kill. She was hit by a Brigand earlier on and couldn't risk engaging the boss without using a Vulnerary first unless the others weakened said boss enough so she'd wipe him out in one hit. Kent picks up a decent first level weakening the boss. Of course, Lyn's happy to show him how a smoking good level up looks like. Chapter 1 down. Simple map. Lyn hands over her Iron Sword so the boys can rack up some easy experience here. Like so. Speed alone makes both of these level ups good as the duo will need a good 3-4 more speed than this to be doubling Brigands later on. Did I mention certain terrain got buffed bonuses. The fort's make sense, but holy christ those throne bonuses are insane. Sain grabs another level wiping out the last Brigand skulking about the temple. I think he's determined to get at least one non hp/str/luk oriented point in something per level with the way he's been going thus far. As for the boss...annoying all thanks to that asshole throne. Nobody's getting higher than 60 or so hit, if that, even with weapon type advantages. Thankfully, he's not all that powerful. Also, Kent can double him with an Iron Lance. He and Sain go at the boss, weakening him while stepping back to the forts as needed for health regen. Once he's low, Lyn comes in for the kill. Not the best, but still, more speed. Always important. That's chapter 2 wrapped up. Chapter 3 starts out with Lyn looking at her shiny new weapon... Lyn's Mani Katti is pretty good. Basically, a slightly weaker Killing Edge with 60 uses and boosting her speed by 5. She can double basically anyone now plus that extra avoid helps to cover for her low defense some. Chapter 3 also brings new recruits to the lineup. First, Florina. Her bases are pretty solid aside from defense and, to a lesser extent, hp. Growths though...while she has absurd amounts of speed growth (95%!), she has some problem areas, namely her awful strength growth. As such, I tend not to use her long term, but she's still good for being a flyer and thusly capable of shuttling people over mountains and other such terrain anyone can't cross on foot. Wil on the other hand has more use combat wise. Bases aren't too bad aside from no resistance (but no mages right now thankfully). Growths are fine as well aside from luck, defense, and resistance. Not much to be said for the strategy here. Florina flies north to visit the village (2000g), everyone else goes east, weakening enemies so Wil can get kills under his belt. Kent continues to get tankier and tankier. Signs you're an idiot: You're an enemy archer, there's TWO people without ranged weapons in your way, and you decide the best course of action is to attack the one person with a bow. Wil happily kills the stupid Archer on his counterattack and gets a quite acceptable first level as a result. Sain's holding up a chokepoint in a forest, weakening anything coming his way. He even gets a good level up out of it. This guy's gotten 3 speed in 4 levels with a 30% growth. Pretty awesome. Unlike this asshole. Kent's apparently capable of turning his spear into some gigantic ass scythe when he crits. The RNG gods are not amused sir. Lyn manages to reach the armory and...super expensive as all hell weapons. Real freaking cute game, sigh. Lyn sells a pack of Vulneraries (a pack of 5 sells for 1000g), then picks up an Iron Sword so Kent & Sain don't have to fight over a single sword anymore. As for the boss...he doesn't move, only attacking anyone right up in his face. Basically, he's telling Wil to kick his ass. Wil's first strike gives him...more defense? Sheesh, that's only a 25% growth there buddy. He continues to weaken the boss until Lyn can come in and finish the job. That's what I like to see girl, thank you. Next time: More "new" things this hack introduces! [spoiler= Growths & Comments (Lyn, Sain, Kent, Wil, Florina)] Lyn's growths: Hp: 75% Luk: 70% Str: 50% Def: 25% Skl: 75% Res: 45% Spd: 75% What else is there to say about one of the main characters? Besides that poor defense growth, she's solid everywhere else. Good for when the bullcrap starts to really ramp up. Sain's growths: Hp: 80% Luk: 65% Str: 60% Def: 25% Skl: 20% Res: 25% Spd: 30% Sain's definitely a min-maxer. Solid hp, strength, and luck, but poor otherwise. We'll be seeing people who have at least 40% minimum in defensive growths soon enough. Even then, he tends to stick around for a good portion of the game for me. Kent's growths: Hp: 85% Luk: 25% Str: 40% Def: 30% Skl: 45% Res: 25% Spd: 45% While Sain focuses on a few specific stats, Kent prefers to spread out his growths. Ok I guess, but he's prone to get RNG screwed easily. Florina's growths: Hp: 55% Luk: 40% Str: 25% Def: 20% Skl: 50% Res: 70% Spd: 95% Here's the problem with this girl...her speed growth is so absurd that her average expected speed at lv20 is 30.05, meaning a cap if she were in her promoted class. She's not and it's sucking points away from what she really needs, namely strength & defense. She's only useful to shuttle people around a big map as her task is for a flier, nothing more. Wil's growths: Hp: 75% Luk: 20% Str: 45% Def: 25% Skl: 80% Res: 25% Spd: 40% Like Florina, Wil has an absurdly high growth in one stat, his skill. He's not as worried about having low defensive growths due to wanting to stay away from melee combat as much as possible thanks to his bows. Sadly though, he can still be prone to the same kind of RNG screwing Kent's vulnerable to, namely in strength & speed, two stats you NEVER want to be screwed in.
  10. Hello, I will be doing Randomized FE7, Hector Normal. I kinda started already, but have yet to do an action. Classes (so far) will be listed Hector: Monk (He'll be interesting. High HP, Defense, and Magic with alright Res and low Speed shall be interesting) Matthew: Thief (Well... That was a disappointing random) Updates for the LP will be kinda sporadic
  11. Alright, I'm new here, but I'm really want to have a runthrough FE8SS :D Oh yay, this is my first run, so I need your advices and criticism (having finished Sacred Stones 3 or 4 times before). Oh yeah, this run is a gentlemanly run! I know that there's some manly run out there that also forbid the usage of magic users, but... oh well, Moulder's moustache are too manly, and I like manly magic users, so... Ok, first, the rules: oh well... Dang, why FE8 Paladin doesn't have axes? if not I bet Valter will be minced by steel Axe! Nothing to see here, Seth is doing all the fighting... What a gentleman, he asked if she was injured, despite she's just sitting in the background... Another Princess in distress... Princess Eirika must find a nice house and have a chat, sips some tea, and get somewhere safe while Seth is doing all the fighting... More gentlemen arrives, and Franz is pissed because they try to hurt his princess... Speaking of which, all armor-knights seems to have identical-model of armor, but yeah. Gilliam kills the guy who scratch his armor in return... To protect the Princess! You must fight! GO FRANZ! A good first level up! I hope he could overtake Seth later... And that's why you don't piss Franz up... hey... speaking of which... Seth one rounding the boss... and get a good level up as well... Princess saved, and we got a manly moustache to join our team! Weeee!
  12. I promised y'all a thwomp run after Klok's majestic update, so here I am. The characters used have been determined via the formula HP+STR+DEF+RES-(3*SPD) (growths, not bases). Therefore, the following characters will be used" ('Jaffar - General', 170) ('Bartre - Thief', 160) ('Nino - Wyvern Lord', 156) ('Wallace - Valkyrie', 135) ('Oswin - Mercenary', 125) ('Hector - Archer', 120) ('Lowen - Wyvern Knt', 110) ('Eliwood - Mage', 110) ('Renault - Druid', 100) ('Rath - Hector Lord', 95) ('Priscilla - Cavalier', 90) ('Marcus - Troubadour', 90) ('Guy - Knight', 80) ('Dorcas - Cavalier', 75) Out of all of these, Rath, Renault, Oswin, Wallace, and Jaffar have not been used in my previous runs. I should note that I used Ninian for 2 chapters before I remembered she wasn't on the list. I do apologize for this breach. My eyes are lowered, as they say in Seanchan. Without further ado, let's go! I'm currently at chapter 26, so I'll update as soon as people comment so I'm not octuple-posting. [spoiler=Headin' Out to the Highway'] The exclamation point makes ALL the difference. Trust me. BRING IT ON The things Matthew does for his liege lord... What are they gonna do, drool on the soldiers? I'll see myself out. Yes, I do use Matthew in this chapter. Purely out of necessity, since I made some silly lapses in judgment. Hector will do all the killing, though. Inventory space is at a premium, for the moment. Matthew's ready to hit the thief when he goes for the chest. But the thief is stupid, and attacks instead. Fortunately, Matthew's counterattack doesn't 1-hit the poor sap. How gallant of you to donate that gem to us. This is the lapse in judgment, stage 1. Stage 2. Not bad, not bad at all RUN THE HELL AWAY KEEP RUNNING THE HELL AWAY K, he's gone...but there's 2 more soldiers coming, and I have no vulneraries left. Matthew "tanks" So, I had Matthew chip and Hector finish, cause Hector needs enough HP to not die to... This guy (he has 3 hp left). BLESSED HEALTH Time to deal with this noob knight. The knight drops a vulnerary too. I dropped a chest key for the previous one, now I drop a door key. I am ok with this. Since Hector procced strength at some point, the iron bow would KO Wire. I decide to chip with the steel one so he uses his vulnerary. It's coming down to the wire! Tanky tanky! Nergrinch? What is this, chaos mode Christmas special? Oh wait. [spoiler=War] I still don't understand this title. AWWW YIS. Matthew and Serra are not in this run, so they scurry away like mice. Oswin, however, makes his presence known. You are the weakest link. You will be upgraded. ALL HAIL MARCUS THE CYBERDALEK 'Becca's the gofer. That book's going to Eliwood, as usual. End of turn 2. Skill, excellent. Copycat. Strength is good. Eliwood can now hit things! The secret to getting Marcus to proc defense is by giving him dragonshields. Teach him how it's done. I'm totally abusing supports this run. Matthew and Rebecca corner the fighter boss whilst this happens. Semi-thwompy. I'll take it. That's THWOMP with a capital exclamation point. [spoiler=A Touch of Evil] LIES Becca and Serra to the corner, everyone else to position of maximum ass-kicking. Ass-kicking confirmed. I'm also not gonna abuse the mine glitch this run. Should make 28x interesting. Lowen is on a mission of utmost importance. Getting strength, while great, isn't it. More thwomp! Whew. Merlinus get. My next run will be Merlinus-free. Should be fun. I love these 3% crits. They make me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. To the southeast, things aren't going so great. So we run the hell away. Again. Probably the smart thing to do would be wait a day before getting the torch village, so that the bandits with handaxes stay away a bit longer. What do we do? Yes...run away some more. I approve. And some more...but we have wyvern backup now. This is the point in the movie when the bad guy's beating up the good guy and the good guy's on the ground, just trying to survive, and then suddenly HELLO SUPPORT This is Matthew's second-to-last function in this run. This is Guy's first. Need speed dude. The bad guy wipes blood from his mouth, disbelieving. The good guy is cut, bruised, tottering on his feet. But he's up. And he's dangerous. And shit's about to get real. Shitgettingreal.jpg I randomly got this. Forgot how quick EliwoodxHector is. The extra crit is really welcome, too. Plus, great thwompy level. STRENGTH Middle one is MarcusxLowen, in case you didn't know. Here I come to save the day! And I look fabulous!
  13. Hey folks, I suppose I'm back with Chaos Mode, this time, nearly finalized patch is upon us. Last time I did Chaos Mode, I got stuck at chapter 20, the Dragon Gate, not because it was hard, not because it was brutal, but rather because I couldn't get what I wanted from that chapter... the Rescue Staff that an enemy sage had that refused to put it at bottom. (she never stopped using it despite them being safe anyway, so I ended up quitting since I really really wanted it :p) But this time, I won't cry, I won't quit, and I definitely won't give up! So Christmas Chaos. To celebrate the white sea and white day. shot Without further adios. (Just to let you know with an extra fact, I randomed a few time later to see what i caught with hector and matthew, they ended up being rhythmical for some reason. Speed type Hector vs Magic Matthew every single random after) I randomed a SOLDIER Hector, and a Brigand Matthew. So Halberier/Dragoon Hector should be fun with all of those crit heaven. Thanks Klok! [spoiler=SOLDIERING IT] Hector Status Hector is definitely going to be a tool. Matthew Status Terrible Str is terrible. Moving on... Expected result. But man that palette is butt ugly. Braaaaaaaaaaaaain. Then this happen. Two archers=nope Taking the unrisky route. One archer is plenty for me.~ BLOOD FOR BLOOD GOD? Quite a bloody palette. Took care of the two saps and Poor hector need to up his health. one vulnerary is plenty :o He land a hit in payback for having his door key stolen. Clean up hitter Hector take care of him... and... HOW DARE YOU. Well this tickles so. . . meh Agile Hector is still agile. Tank Hector? Tank Hector! No animation for knights? KLOK PLS Good leveling. Knight you are a worthy sacrifice. Red eye ball acquired. Suspension. . . Into... A good level I couldn't capture his crit. I suck Thwomp Hector. I guess he is now an aegis. I agree More to come.
  14. Hello everybody! I present to you a FE6 run where all used characters are blood-related to FE7 characters. They are the only ones able to save the world from dragons! That also include FE7 characters. So, I can use : - Marcus - Roy - Wolt - Dayan - Sue - Lugh - Ray - Lilina - Fir - Klein - Clarine - Geese - Igrene - Hugh - Niime - Merlinus (lol) - Karel - Bartre - Sophia? - Fa? (they only do a cameo, so I'm not sure about them) Here is the prologue! [spoiler=The prologue!] Plot. Roy, our lord. His (bad) growths : 80% HP 40% Strength 50% Skill 40% Speed 60% Luck 25% Def 30% Res Roy is an average unit. He is the kind of unit that can turn out decent or really bad. Most of the time, a really bad lord growing only in luck and res. Otherwise, he can be good. However, what destroys him is his promotion : He only promotes at chapter 21x. That is bad. So, bad unit. Please turn out good. Wolt, the milk brother. He is the son of Rebecca. His growths : 80% HP 40% Strength 50% Skill 40% Speed 40% Luck 20% Def 10% Res Same growths as Roy, but even worse. He is an archer. That means he can't attack on enemy phase enemies with 1 range weapons. He can turn out like Roy : Bad, or decent. Let's see how he turns out. Marcus! 60% HP 25% Strength 20% Skill 25% Speed 20% Luck 15% Def 20% Res He has bad growths, but his base stats are so good he can last with it to chapter 13, at least. If he ends up blessed, I'm sure he could be used through the whole game. On the first chapters, he is the best unit. He can weaken enemies decently, allowing the weaker units (i.e Roy and Wolt) to finish the work. The fighters are coming! Hopefully, Marcus does not crit. Allowing Roy to kill the bandit. Ah, a lucky dodge. You will see that a lot. Meatshielding! Marcus, it is not the time to switch weapons! It is so funny that no matter what happens, most of your units will be weaker than HM enemies. I wish this guy would be in my team. Wolt, by taking an axe to the face, saves the village. Hurray! The two first level ups. That's pretty good, for them! His luck allows him to dodge fatal blows, and to retaliate! I'm afraid this is only the beginning... THIS GUY. He dodged Roy's sword, and Wolt's bow. I hate him. I had to wait one turn to kill him with Roy. Time to get a few lv ups. Upped 2xHP, 2xStrenght, 2xSpeed, and 2xLuck. 3 out of 4 important stats. Good beginning. And Roy finishes. For THAT. I hate you.
  15. I welcome you all to... ELIBIAN NIGHTS! Original topic can be found here. Go play it. Seriously, you really should. What is Elibian Nights, you ask? Elibian Nights is a massive collaboration project by TONS of hackers that has been going on for a few years now, and is, at last at last AT LAST, FINISHED! That's right, it's finished! All the levels are there! However, there are still many bugs to be fixed, and there may be a few special things added far in the future, but for now, everything is there! But seriously, what ACTUALLY IS Elibian Nights, you ask? Elibian Nights is a fan-made sequel to FE7, and it take places in between the events of FE7 and FE6, showing the adventures and struggles of the characters after the war they took part in. It is extremely ambitious technologically, but unlike most, it SUCCEEDED in all that ambition! The game barely even resembles normal FE7 in some parts anymore! It also uses characters that were once asides in FE7, like commanders mentioned solely in supports suddenly coming around to help in gameplay! A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS LP: I WILL be transcribing dialogue. This hack just doesn't work without the story. I WILL try to show off as many things as I can, but I CAN NOT show off everything, because that would be insane. There are three different difficulty modes, and while I'm not sure how they work, playing each tale three times would take a while. Not to mention collecting the start/end tale dialogue for all the different pairing combinations... There are achievements and bonus content as well, and I would like to get all of those, but I can't! I WOULD show off growths, IF I can get a sheet that actually shows the growths for the characters! If any of you know where one exists, could you show it to me? This IS NOT a completely blind run, as I did play the previous versions, but...please, no spoilers for the new stuff! I want to experience it firsthand! So then, let's start! HERE'S HOW THE POLL WORKS! You select the tales you want, and I play whatever tale is in the lead at the time! I'll remove options from the poll as I play the tales, and add new options as I unlock more tales! I'll wait a few days before starting to give you guys adequate voting time, and it may also give time for some of the many bugs in the current release to be identified. I don't want to be the first to stumble upon a game-breaking bug... although maybe I have too little faith in Arch here. He did have lots of beta testers, after all. Also, a quick question: I don't know how to turn on the various modes. Do I need to beat tales before I unlock Hard Mode/Regalia Mode?
  16. Yo MrNight here, Doing another Lp run of chaos mode before I move on to other hacks cause I also want to showcase some of the new animations.....much much later. also cause I simply want to play it again ok. however there are new rules to this run which may make it exciting or....boring idk but fuck it, doing it anyway NEW RULES -Magic users Lock if it shoots magic, I'm using them. what this means is between the choice of a physical attacker and a magic one, I have to take the magic ones. So yes, dart will be in this run. -No stat boosts except luck icons yeah, you fucking read that right, klok graciously put in all those stat boosters in to further help the player not to screw himself, but I am not going to use them to screw myself, (pun intended ) plus how else am I going to pay for all these ultimate seals. Edit: I forgot about boots, so those will be assassin locked. -Exploits can be used yes I will allow the mine giltch AND the torch giltch. if you don't know what that is or can it be done in fe7, you are in for a treat....or me failing at it, we'll see. - SpiderMan Savestate because I already beat chaos mode, I unlocked the right to the spiderman rule "everybody gets one" extra savestate per chapter. So when I lose somebody I have to restart from the beginning or from that 1 savestate. -No Deaths Allowed basically if someone dies, restart. I will not be recruiting farina if she doesn't come with something useful but have to keep her alive as well even as a green unit. last but certainly not least.... -Serra Lock because I hate her so much (funny thing is I love her in vanilla fe7) and she was the cause of most of my restarts she will be my ball and chain this run. she must be in every chapter, even over magic users. so yeah....(swallow fear) alright, will update my game and will come back after I get started. ch 11 Great start ch 12 Things are going surprisingly well
  17. So, I've decided to actually do something on this forum since my hack won't be worked on at all till FEXNA comes out(Wonder which will come out first, Half Life 3 or it?) Anyways, I'll be using Camtech and Klok's randomizer for this. Without further ado, lets see our results. This is my info, you happy? So... Mage Lyn. Or should I say, Malyn? Hey battle animations. Not so bad but... OH YEA SHE CAN'T DOUBLE YET! DARN YOU FE6! Well, she's fixing her speed problem. Ch.1: I don't know what to say one these two... Why does he have 1.A shit weapon, and 2.A weapon he cant even wield without losing speed yet? Oh, I've got something to say now... ZOMBIES!!!! And we watched as these two fighters dueled it out in a game of miss war, in which Kent lost. Well, he got skill... Should help with his hit problems. Well... Strength? Ch.2: Lyn continues her streak of making up for starting problems. Could Sain become a killing machine? Kent decides to try to fix his speed problem and become bulkier to make up for it. No speed, but its fine for now I guess. Ch.3: Eh, considering how Lyn is turning out right now, nah... But Lyn will take that Fire tome thank you very much. Wil reveals he is a lord from Ostia on a vacation in Sacae. OH GOD THE SIXS! Why does he also have a steel axe? Kent shall save this village! And Wil shall choke this point! His palette also. His axe glows due to his dedication to the lord of darkness. And he decides to stop it, since he is trying to become his own god. Lyn continues to get speed. Ch4: Dorcas and fast. Two words that shouldn't have came together. My plan everyone. Choke the points. Sain continues his reign of destruction. Dorcas's palette. Why does he have a longsword? Sain doubled this poor sap. And Wil now has decided to join the god of light. Legitplan.exe. Sain doubles count:2. Assuming growth rates haven't been changed, Dorcas has became even more faster even with a 20% chance. More speed! Poor sap. ITS UTTER TERROR I TELL YOU! Dorcas realizes hes not supposed to be fast and becomes a tank. Meh. At least its skill and speed... Wil doubles another poor sap and gets this. Praise the light. Of course they aren't! I'd would have kept going, but thats all the time I have today, so heres a sneak peek at the next chapter. Umm... My god.
  18. I think this has been done before, probably, but I'm going to have a go at it anyways. Here's what's going on with this LP: This is a BLIND run. As in, I have never played this hack before, and anything I post is being done as is. Savestates will be used. I've heard how imbalanced this hack is, I'm not risking some character I'm going to need for down the line. I will NOT be providing translations. I only have a rudimentary ability to read kanji, especially when the Japanese used is most likely archaic (to fit with the medieval fantasy theme) I will be doing my absolute best to provide information on major changes from vanilla FE7. My personal comments will be in italics, unless it's important, then it will be in bold. I'm probably going to be ripping off of TheMoniker's LP style. Please forgive me. That should be about it. I'm not going to really try explaining what FE7if is, I'm sure you can simply just google that. Onto the show! [spoiler=Prologue - Literally the Prologue] I have no idea what this says. As far as I can tell, it is the same as vanilla. All about the Scouring and what not. Title screen. I would have thought this to be pretty impressive, until I remembered that the CG used was already in the game. Still, it's nice. The main menu. Basically, the options are "Start New Game" and "Extra" No idea what this says. Translation help would be appreciated. ??? Not much to say, chapter name has been untouched as far as I can tell. Before we continue, I'd just like to say that the main menu/main theme of this hack so far took me far longer than it should have to realize what it was. It's the opening to Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, Connect by ClariS. My alternate name I use online is Oak, so that's what I've named myself here. Birthday in Feb, blah blah. You know the drill. Yes, my bloodtype is actually A. Going to skip the intro text because it's something we all know already. First thing to note. This mook has 35 hp. That's 15 more than vanilla. Also, Lynn has more health too. Mook dies moments after this shot was taken. Things of note, Lynn's stats are higher than vanilla, including a +1 bonus to move. I have an odd feeling this is a trend we'll be seeing with a lot of characters. Also of note, the Iron Sword has 8 more uses, 1 more mt, and 5 less hit than vanilla. Is this a trend? Yes. Batta's stats are considerably higher than in vanilla, as well as the weapon being stronger and all sorts of other things. Doesn't really matter though since Batta is scripted to die by a crit. RIP Batta . Post chapter story, etc. etc. We all know the drill. What will happen next time, I wonder? (Spoiler: We meet Sain and Kent) Growths Lyn HP - 75% (+5) Str - 50% (+10) Skl - 75% (+15) Spd - 75% (+15) Luk - 70% (+15) Def - 25% (+5) Res - 45% (+15) Total - 415 (80) Holy bejebus that is a massive power upgrade to our good lord. A +15 to Skl, Spd, Luk, and Res? Are you kidding me? Unless the enemies we're going to be facing are that much more powerful, I can't see why this is necessary. Just looking at this hurts and sets off warning signs that this game is going to be one where the endgame boss is going to have max stats with +30s in all of them. Overall fairly boring start. Hopefully it'll start to pick up soon. Tune in next time, for Ch. 1.
  19. TheMoniker: *Finishes RoadtoRuin* TheMoniker: Oh yes! Now I can finally take a break from all this LPing! *3 hours later* TheMoniker: UGH IM SO BORED I NEED TO DO ANOTHER LP And that's how this LP was born. Corrupt Theocracy is a FE7 hack. The forum post is found here(thread now locked). The hack is fully finished, with custom dialogue, supports, maps, and portraits, and 32 chapters. The game has a unique, engaging story, which, when combined with the unique gameplay concepts, together make a beautiful BAHAHAHAHA! Okay, okay, I'm sorry! I just couldn't keep going with that and keep a straight face! Just ignore what I said, here's the REAL intro: Corrupt Theocracy is a "finished" hack. However, it's "finished" in roughly the same way that Different Dimensions Ostian Princess is. Blademaster says it's a "semi-custom" hack, which means lots of portrait splices. It also means that many of the chapter maps are either A: Stolen from FE7 or B: You WISH were stolen from FE7. It contains fully custom "dialogue" and a few "custom" classes...although the exact nature of them,..well, you'll see. When people looked at the hack, they criticized it for its gameplay, and Blademaster said that the gameplay was supposed to just be an aid to the story. Which must be why the text is FULL of grammar errors! When questioned on THAT, Blademaster caved and said he mostly made it so he could say he "actually made a full hack"! Which should tell you all you need to know about its quality. Of course, I'm not trying to insult Blademaster here. Blademaster's a pretty okay guy. His hack is horrible though. Of course, obviously, I don't expect you to just take my WORD on it's quality. You need to see it for yourself! Oh wait, a few more things before I start: While normally I make these LPs informative, this one is just a joke LP, so I won't be showing growths or anything. There isn't a growth sheet in the topic, and normally I'd PM the maker, but what would I even say? "Hey bro, I'm gonna make an LP to mock your hack, can you give me some info to give along with the mocking"? Also, this LP will probably be a bit slower than my other ones. Partially because I can't do too much Corrupt Theocracy without going insane, and partially because Elibean Nights is scheduled for a christmas release(I want to LP it), and Chaos Mode could be updated any day now, and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY this hack is taking priority over EITHER of them. Okay, okay, let's get started. Keep in mind if you see any typos in my transcribed dialogue, in all likeliness they were the game's and not mine. I'll be doing my best to faithfully replicate all the bad grammar, and resist my inner urge to correct it...
  20. I mentioned in my Interview that Starflight was one of the first video games I can recall playing, and that actually got me the severe itch to start up a new runthrough of it, and maybe if it goes well, explore the sequel. There's a pretty deep lore to the game, a few large chunks of which are laid out in the manual, but the rest of it is slowly uncovered through exploration. I will lay out what is provided by the manual here first, and then in the posts to come, actually proceed with the LP. I'm not sure how much I'll be open to interaction or such, as far as making decisions on where to go, what to do, but maybe I'll reach out for some opinions here or there. I already did to a small extent for this first update, but we'll see how things progress as time goes on, I guess. Without further ado: Letter of Commission [spoiler=The Letter]Starport Central, Arth Orbit Station 30-10-4619 Dear Starship Commander: We are sorry you were unable to attend the Operation Starflight briefing last week. Those who attended can vouch for the enthusiasm and excitement that prevailed during the meeting. We at Interstel feel that this is the beginning of a new era, and that you and your colleagues will be instrumental in making this mission a success. To make sure you will have all the information you need, we have included a copy of the briefing transcript, and your own copy of the Technical Reference Manual. This latter document contains the information you need to operate your starship. without it, you could find yourself in deep space with no way out. Guard it carefully. Needless to say, it is highly confidential and is, if you will excuse the old cliche, For Your Eyes Only. The briefing transcript is included for the background information it contains. It was decided to provide this information in this form rather than as a summary, to give the absent members a sense of the atmosphere that prevailed during the meeting. As you know, Interstel is in no position to outfit starships as fully as you might like; consequently, a lot hinges on your entrepreneurial ability to generate revenues early on. You will then be able to use those revenues to outfit your starship for more distant (and more profitable) voyages. The following are a few suggestions in that direction: Your initial allotment of 12,000 mu's is enough to allow you to buy four cargo pods, and to gather and train a crew. Your ship comes equipped with one Class 1 engine and 20 cubic meters of endurium, so you won't need to do anything to your starship except name it. We suggest you train your crew with the funds you have remaining after you purchase the cargo pods. You will then be in a good position to mine the minerals found on the planets in our own solar system. Fill the cargo pods with minerals and bring them back to Starport, where you will find willing buyers. We realize that some of you may find this strictly commercial endeavour somewhat degrading, but we have found that it is necessary in order to complete your primary mission. Of course, you are free to follow whatever strategy you see fit -- just be aware that Interstel cannot afford to give you a second chance should you fail in your first attempt. No matter what strategy you choose to adopt, it is wise to avoid the following, any one of which can spell disaster: 1. Running out of fuel 2. Running out of energy in your terrain vehicle 3. Running out of money 4. Getting killed in combat 5. Landing on a planet with crushing gravity 6. Engine or communication failures 7. Getting killed on planetside by storms or hostile lifeforms. In addition, we recommend that you check your Notices in Starport Operations before embarking on a journey. Notices often contain valuable clues, and may help you avoid potential disaster. On behalf of all the personnel here at Interstel headquarters, we would like to wish you great success in your mission. May the Rock of Truth shine brightly upon you. Terrence Willwater Director, Interstel Copy of Briefing Transcript [spoiler=The Transcript](The following is a transcript of a briefing before a group of starship commander trainees. The briefing was chaired by Vice-Director Phexipotex and included a cross-representation of various races.) Phexipotex: Thank you for coming everyone. Please be seated. You have all been carefully selected for your special skills and abilities and your aptitudes in the areas of diplomacy and exploration. We are counting on this driving force inherent in all of you to help answer the puzzles and riddles that have long plagued our scientists. While conducting research in the Southern Hot Zone 15 years ago, on the sixteenth day of ten-month, 4604, a team of Interstel scientists found a deep shaft in the crust of the planet, leading to a vast and ancient underground network. Investigation revealed this to have been built by ... the first colonists of Arth. People, please! May I have some quiet ... Thank you. I assure you that this conclusion was reached only after many years of careful stud. At this point there is little room for doubt that Arth was, in fact, colonized by a group called Noah 2, and that this group came from a planet called Earth. I'm sure you can all appreciate now why this information has not been released to the public. Obviously, it is vital that up to date proof be offered when we commence public announcements, otherwise the notion that Earth was a real place and that Noah 2 an actual group would be met with skepticism, to say the least. I realize that the acceptance of a new system of beliefs and of new technological concepts is a difficult task. Many of you may still be skeptical -- this is perfectly understandable. I only ask you to bear with me for now. After this briefing you will be seeing some holo-footage which will, I think, cast any doubts from your minds. And, of course, when you begin your explorations you will be using the new technology yourselves. As you might imagine, this discovery answers a good many questions; but it also raises quite a few. There was an Old Empire and a Great Interstellar War. From what we have been able to piece together it appears that during the final stages of the war, when the Empire was facing imminent defeat, an ambitious colonization project, Project Noah, was launched by an organization then known as the Institute. The reasons for the war, for Noah 2's failure to maintain their level of technology, and for the Empire's final fate have not yet been determined. We have, however, found several references to "Uhlek", "Gazurtoid", and "Phlegmak" and believe these to be names of races which were hostile to the Empire -- possibly responsible for its downfall. Further evidence confirms the theory that the Humans, Elowan, Thrynn, and Velox (referred to then as the Veloxi) were all part of the Old Empire and were represented in the Noah 2 group. In addition to the historical data, we have uncovered sufficient technical data to let us reconstruct some of the Old Empire technology. The most significant area of this technology has focused on peculiar lumps of crystaline matter which the empire called Endurium. It was on this substance (unlike any we have ever encountered) that their superphotonic (or faster than light) technology was based. Fortunately, there was enough Endurium in the underground colony to allow us to experiment freely and actually construct a few prototype starships. Yes, we have constructed starships, and superphotonic technology does work. The next phase of our experimentation involves exploration. Our scientists and the public are eager for answers. In front of each of you is a Captain's Technical Reference Manual. Information relevant to your mission can be found in the main body of the text; other information allowing a deeper understanding of those with whom you will deal has been compiled by our researchers and can be found in the Appendices. Should you decide to participate in the exploration of the unknown, you will be given command of a ship and your choice of crew. As an additional incentive you will be paid for any discoveries you make; you may use this money to purchase anything you desire or to train your crew and modify your ship further. One final note: you are not the first Interstel exploration group. The first group, which consisted of 13 ships and 78 explorers, was dispatched five years ago. To date, only two of these ships have returned and we have had no word as to the status of the others. Because each ship was carrying only enough fuel for a one year journey we must assume that they are ... well, that they will not be returning. Nevertheless, in the past five years we have made significant advances in starship technology and you are a much more capable group than the first. We are confident that you will have no major difficulties in successfully completing your missions I would now like to open this briefing to questions. Yes, Navigator Eshhh-ahhr. Eshhh-ahhr: Vice-Director Phexipotex, you mentioned that two ships had returned from earlier explorations. Is there anything that you might be able to tell us of their experiences that would be of interest? Phexipotex: It so happens that one of the captains of those vessels is here among us, Captain Thysss Thyrrthynnn of the ISS Hyperion. Captain, would you mind standing up and answering this question? Thysss Thyrrthynnn: Cccertainly. It iss difficult to know wherrre to beginn. Ourrr voyage lasssted forr the betterr parrt of two yearrsss. As it happened we chose initially to trrravel in a downssspin dirrection with a 14 degree corewarrd orientationnn. Ourr firsst encounterr with alien vesselsss was jusst corewarrd of a G-class ssysstem at 150, 64. We were sssurrounded by three sscout shipsss of a very peculiarr dessign. Upon enetering communicationss we were asstonisshed to find that these sshipsss were manned by Elowannn. We were even morre asstounded to find that the Elowannn have nnot outgrownn theirrr foolish animosity forr the Thrynn as have the Elowann herre on Arrrth. Thisss wass evidenced by the fact that ssshortly affter communicationss were essstablished the Elowan ssent uss a messsage to the effect that they could detect my pressence annd that of the otherrr Thrynn aboarrd the hyperrionn, wherreupon they immediately terrminated communicationssss annd opened firre on usss. Fortunately I had equipped the Hyperionn with adequate wweaponrry to handle thisss......annoyanccce. In fact, I consequenntly found it necessary to desstroy quite a numberrr of Elowann shipsss; purely in sself-defense of courssse. Mossst rregrretable. Phexipotex: Please! Please! May I have order! I am quite certain that Captain Thyrrthynn resorted to the use of force only when absolutely necessary. I am confident that she acted only in good faith and never fired the first shot - is this not so Captain? Thysss Thyrrthynnn: Of courssse. Though it was necesssary upon ccertain occassionsss to... Phexipotex: There, you see? Now please, my we have some quiet so that the Captain can continue her narration? Thysss Thyrrthynnn: Yesss. Well durring the sssecond month of ourrr explorationss we alltered courrssse and trravelled in an outwarrd and downssspin dirrection. It was only a matterrr of weekss before we encounterred ourr ssecond alienn rrrace. Thesse aliensss werre harrdly alienn howeverr, for thisss time we had ecountered the Thrynn. It isss a difficult thing to desscrribe how it feelss to come faccce to faccce with oness remote ancestorrsss. To feel that one hass finally come home affter being lossst for a thoussand yearsss. After ssspending the nexxt yearr and a half among my lossst brrotherss and ssistersss it was all that I could do to forrce mysself to rreturrn herre. In fact, both of the otherr Thrynn on my crrew, ThyssArrla and N'qrrlsss chose to ssstay behinnd. Phexipotex: Question? Yes, in the back. G694337: If I may put a question to Captain Thyrrthynnn. What did you do for fuel all this time Captain? I understand you did not take along enough to last the entire two years. Thysss Thyrrthynnn: If courrssse. We did manage to buy a fairrr bit frrom Ssstarporrt by doing ssome local ssectorrr mining beforre leaving on ourrr expeditionn. During ourr time in Elowannn sspaccce we managed to ssalvage enough ennndurrium from the debris of the shipsss we desstroyed in sself defensse. We alsso sssalvaged a conssiderable amount of plutoniumm which the Thrynn willingly trraded forrr fuel. Finally, with the help of the Thrynn we managed to llocate a few planetsss with abundant ancient ruinsss. These we used as refueling basesss for local explorationsss. Phexipotex: We have time for one more question. Ok......yes. Garan Leb: A question for you, Vice-Director. I wonder if you could explain why it is necessary that we earn the money to build our ship and crew. Surely Interstel has the resources to provide us with the best equipment which would optimize our chance for success. Phexipotenx: I would like to remind you that Interstel is not a government controlled organization, nor are we a military operation. Our resources are, in fact, limited and we have no way of knowing which few of you will possess the necessary qualities to successfully command an Interstellar Starship. It is not in our best interest to waste what other resources we have on the rest of you who will, pardon the expression, wash out right away. This therefore, is our means of determining who among you is most capable, while at the same time providing a little personal incentive ot ensure that we get the most from every one of you. I wish you all the best of luck in your explorations. Thank you. Excerpt from the Religious Writings of Arth (one of the appendices from the Captain's Technical Reference Manual) [spoiler=The Writings]The Book of Endurium Chapter One: The Years of Darkness(and Chaos). Verses 1-6. 1. In the beginning there was darkness.. or was there light... no, there was darkness. Anyway, then Man came on the scene and verily did he create a great spacefaring empire and unto him... you know I'm almost positive there was darkness in the beginning. 2. Well, so anyhow, man speadeth wide and extended himself amongst the heavenly bodies of the universe, and it was good (really, in fact, it was great!). And thereby and thusly did he findeth the other races. And unto his Empire did he take them, and yea did he accepteth them almost as equals. 3. And for a time there was rejoicing and forsooth all was hunky dorey. Then, upon Mankind was there laid the greatest of catastrophes and he was bummed. The lands trembled and the skies burned and Yea destruction was brought down upon the Empire of Man. 4. And in the fall of this righteous and glorious empire did the other races seize upon the opportunity to express their disapproval of mankind's ways and verily did they slaughter billions of his number. And following this were the Dark Years of Chaos. 5. Woe and Yea and Woe were these years not dark, and were they not also chaotic? Verily were they chaotic and dark. In these years weas tere the darkness of chaos and the chaos of darkness. Both the darkness and the chaos were like unto no darkness or chaos as had been seen before. 6. And from this dark chaos, which was both chaotic and dark, were born the colonial worlds of Noah, which were like unto children of the empire. And among these worlds, which were like unto siblings, was Arth, and it's moons were like unto children of Arth, which were like unto grandchildren of the Empire, and first cousins of the other colonial worlds. Chapter Two: The Prophecy. Verses 1-4 1. And Yea shall Arth be plunged into dark years of chaos. I say unto thee Yea. Yea! Shall these years be dark and chaotic like unto the other dark years of chaos. Woe, shall they be even more dark and more chaotic. Verily shall they be so dark and so chaotic it can not even be imagined how dark and chaotic they shall be. 2. Long and long shall these years of darkness and chaos be. And then from these dark years shall there arise a new Arth and a New Council and lo, they shall be new. And then, within the bowels of Arth shall there once again be movement. Yea, and proudly shall man once again walk the corridors of the children of Noah. 3. And within these corridoors shall he once again findeth the Rock of the Ancients, which was first found by Man within the ruins of the Ancients wherein they did dwell and live and generally hang out, long and long ago. Praise be to the Ancients who were like unto... well, who were like unto nothing in particular, and who did walketh amongst the stars before even mankind was a twinkle in the cosmic eye of reality. 4. Hail Endurium, oh holiest of rock-like, high-yield energy materials! Oh beauteous shining Rock of Truth! Praise be to that holy legacy of the Ancients for in it shall mankind once again findeth his destiny amongst the stars! So it is written. Excerpts from Captain's Log: Noah 2 Expedition (one of the appendices from the Captain's Technical Reference Manual) [spoiler=The Log]1100 hrs. 3-22-3454 We are exactly 9 hours away from Earth and the crew is completely exhausted. It is has been four hours since we were attacked by the Gazurtoid ships and I am going to Yellow Alert so that some of the crew can get some rest. While the ship has sustained major damage, all systems are operational and there are, miraculously, no casualties. I am afraid that in my optimism I have made a grave error in judgement and endangered the lives of all aboard. In selecting our course I was fully aware of the fact that the primary jump link would leave us just outward of the Staff Constellation; lately there has been a good deal of Gazurtoid activity in that area. Since the link was only about 8 sectors from the Sol System, however, and since there existed a secondary link which would deposit us in the immediate vicinity of Arth in a matter of hours, I foolishly decided to risk an encounter than spend weeks in hyperspace. The moment we dropped out of the Flux we were under attack. Our missiles had little or no effect on the Gazurtoid ships. Apparently they have devised some new form of shield against missile attacks. Fortunately, we accidentally hit another Flux just upspin and core-ward of the first one. Our Navigator has just located our position and we are at 189,190. This puts us quite a long way from our destination, but we are alive. With luck and no more surprises we should reach Arth in approximately two days. Captain out. Timeline (one of the appendices from the Captain's Technical Reference Manual) [spoiler=The Timeline]With the information we've discovered in the underground colony ruins our researchers have been able to piece together a timeline which we feel is fairly accurate. We are hoping that from your explorations you may be able to provide us with enough data to fill in all the remaining gaps. 2100 - Man discovers Endurium 2150 - Man discovers Endurium's application to superphotonic technology and begins exploring. Colonization begins. Start of Empire. 2300 - Man meet Velox. 2650 - Major Endurium finds usher in Empire's Golden era 2675 - Empire discovers Spemin. 2770 - Empire discovers Thyrnn and Elowan. 3000 - Start of first wave 3120 - Velox pact of 3120 3260 - First wave (?) ends. 3400 - Start of second wave. 3450 - Project Noah is initiated. 3454 - Launch of Noah 2 expedition. 3480 - Fall of Earth. 3505 - Bomb hit Arth, creates Southern Hot Zone and forces underground colonists above ground. 3520 - Arth society collapses and the Dark Years begin. 4400 - Arth's new era begins with the new council and te industrial revolution. 4500 - Rediscovery of space flight (sublight) 4594 - Discovery of Noah 2 colony and Endurium. 4615 - First group sent out in superphotonic ships. 4620 - Present day. Okay, now that we've provided the lore verbatim, let's distill some of what that information actually means to us to the bare essentials. From the letter of commission we are informed that: We have a starship, but it is modestly outfitted, and the crew is minimally trained. We have an allotment of 12000 MUs to supplement this, but any further funding must be acquired through our own entrepreneurial skills. The primary suggested method is through mining expeditions, which while not glorious or exciting, pays the bills. There are lots of ways to lose, in varying degrees of unpleasantness. The briefing transcript fills in a few more details, (some of which are perhaps a stretch): Arth is a Noah Colony from the Old Empire, based from Earth. Uhlek, Gazurtoid, and Phlegmak are the names of alien races presumed hostile. Endurium is the element responsible for interstellar travel, a valuable mineral/fuel. There is a G-class system at 150, 64. Elowan vessels confirmed in the vicinity. Elowan and Thrynn races have a longstanding feud and cannot be expected to communicate peaceably. Thrynn may have a bit of a dishonest streak. Thrynn space was discovered Outward and Downspin of the Elowan space. Endurium can be found in ancient ruins, or scavenged from debris after stellar combat, or traded for with alien races. Thrynn value plutonium for trade. The religious excerpts are almost entirely devoid of pragmatically useful information. From the excerpts of the Noah Expedition's Captain's Log we learn: Gazurtoid activity in the Staff Constellation is probable. A continuum flux/jump link/wormhole linking to the vicinity of the Sol system empties just outward of the Staff Constellation. Missiles are useless against Gazurtoid shields. Another continuum flux near the Staff Constellation exists coreward and upward of the first. This second wormhole empties out at 189,190. The timeline contains almost no new information. For the purposes of better understanding the stellar coordinate systems, readers are advised to consult the following starmap. [spoiler=large image] I will be scribbling what I perceive to be relevant notes on this and updating it accordingly. Based on what we know so far, we can already provide an update: [spoiler=large image] The rest of the Captain's Technical Reference Manual consists mostly of actual instructions on how to use various game features and other technical matters, which I will endeavor to elaborate upon as they become relevant. This is already rather lengthy, so I'll be taking a break before posting the next update featuring some actual gameplay.
  21. Hello, and welcome to... TheMoniker plays ROAD TO RUIN! The Road to Ruin is an Fe7 romhack by Primefusion. You can find its thread here. It is entirely custom, with full custom maps, characters, and story. This is its second full version. I played the first version, so this isn't entirely blind, although things have probably been changed since then... In the original version, the story was basically an FE7 sequel, using Ostia and Laus as the main territories. However, the most recent patch has changed the story entirely for some completely NEW kingdoms/territories. I WILL be transcribing dialogue, but I don't have minimugs, so expect it to be like reading a play script. With occasional pictures of the play. But you might be thinking: "Moniker, will this slow down your chaos mode LP once the new patch is out?" The answer: YES. DEAL WITH IT. Well, I'm not the greatest at writing long-winded introductions. Let's just get straight into the introduction sequence: THE PROLOGUE PRELUDE: I'll be trying to show off everything I can about this hack, although this hack doesn't appear to have all that many secrets.
  22. 4 DOOFS ADVENTURE FE8 WHY NOT The following units cannot be killed off at all and must be used as much as they possibly can: Sophia: David: Soledai: Poly: I will update part 1 in a moment.
  23. So, this is a thing! Because FE3 wasn't hipstery enough for me, I will be playing Fire Emblem Gaiden alongside DodgeDusk - but with a twist! If you didn't know, FE: Gaiden features two separate player controlled armies- one led by Alm, and the other by Celica. I'll be playing the Alm chapters, and DodgeDusk will be handling the Celica chapters. As far as I know neither of us has played Gaiden to completion before, so this will be a new experience for both of us! Let's get this train wreck a-rollin'! Chapter 1, Maps 1-3 The next part of Chapter 1 will be up shortly. Stay tuned!
  24. THAT'S RIGHT, IT'S HERE. THE SEQUEL-PREQUEL THING OF A GAME. THE MANLY TEAM IS BACK. You know the drill, the MANLIEST OF MEN only. The difference is, this run will be played on HHM. I have never played HHM before (except for the first two chapters), so there is going to be a small exception to the rule. Serra can be used very occasionally if necessary, because this run is more for entertainment, and it can't really be that if I can't complete the levels (Dusk probably can with his eyes closed, but I suck at FE, so...). Yeah. Once Canas or Lucius promote, Serra will no longer be permitted, yada yada. Let's just play the game! [spoiler=This level reminded me why I stopped playing HHM] THE PREQUEL-SEQUEL YEAH THIS TIME WE AREN'T PUSSIES SORTA Accurate ELIDAD NO MANLY friends *implying he isn't already* That's right, it is another journey Now we're playing a game with hit rates OsTHWOMP doesn't like it as rough as Hector OH SHIT THWOMP BROTHER but love and adventure PLOT HECTOR HIS EYES ARE UP THERE DUN DUN DUNNNNN 'rendezvous' kinky 'Move out of the way or I'll penetrate you!' OSTHWOMP, the MANLIEST OF THWOMPS, joins us Next time, we meet up with some of the MANLY MEN and fight crime together!
  25. Hey! So, a fun story about how this became into a project. Blackmail. ... Well, that, and I'm always interested in playing Atlus games. But hey, those two facts are not important. Welcome to Devil Survivor 2. Blind! Why not the first game first? Truthfully, I don't know why. Apparently they're similar, but not related. So I guess it doesn't really matter Now, I know literally nothing about Devil Survivor, so I don't know how long each update should be, in regards to playtime. So excuse my first update if its length isn't adequate. Recommendations would be appreciated Like most of my previous solo projects, there'll be an index in the OP, linking you to all updates throughout the project With them out of the way, let us begin! [spoiler=Oops] The blackmailer could've chosen an easier game for me--it runs too slow! So the text in this game is all messed up, right. Literally took me around 15 minutes to solve the problem. See? I do care about the quality of my projects Dude, you have a scarf. You better be legit Should I, like, show all these? From the quick review I watched before playing this, dialogue choices seem to be moderately important Entrance of the school? Your belongings have probably been pinched by this point Not really, but okay That's... oddly disturbing and scary. Why would anyone do this? I dunno about you guys, but that's a decent name right there I was going to do with Damian Trotter originally, because Only Fools and Horses is one of the greatest things ever Been waiting for me? I'm even more scared YoU TOo We? My dude has a turtleneck, Daichi, I don't need anything else Exactly. Don't disrespect the turtleneck Take a few steps forward? Clouds don't follow you His stare scares the heeby jeebies out of me DUDE, YOUR EYES Also, as you can tell, my dude is not amused, and prefers video games to women. Clearly, he's the next Casanova You're on your own, buddy Her face also freaks me out. Is the main protagonist the only person here with a decent face? Thanks, dude. Train could've come. Could've died... How suspici- Daichi, are you wearing eyeliner? DUDE I'm not a very good main character, am I? I shouldn't be dead this early on in the game Daichi, take a look at what killed me. Please. And then realise why a train is a BAD IDEA Cutscenes in screen shot LPs are pretty eh, not going to lie. Earthquake happens, and this train gets derailed Do you think a dead man can hear you, Tico? I feel like the pictures showed it badly, but basically the derailed train hit me square in the face. So I'm, like, dead, or something my what now Sure, why not? ... Oh Well, that was an interesting game, wasn't it? See y'all next time! Demonlicious contracts (up to the Bai Suzhen fight) Joe Schmoe (recruited Joe) Daichi, more like Diechi, because he... well... (defeated Dubhe) That thing's a guy? (arrived in Osaka)
