  1. The features I liked in Awakening were: ~Reclassing to different classes to change the skills my units had available ~Pair Up which is a double edged sword ~ Map shopping to replenish weapons ~Street pass/Spot pass to get some weapons I couldn't always have access to. ~Support conversations to a degree since they did give some character growth out side of the main story.
  2. Yesterday, I finished my first ironman run of Awakening. It was also a "no grinding" run (although I will admit that I didn't always follow that rule, even though two of the encounters were due to an enemy blocking a shop in the early game, when there aren't a whole lot of alternatives yet). I've decided to share some of my overall thoughts on both the Ironman and the game as a whole. I've separated my thoughts with spoilers, as they ended up longer than I thought it would be. Deaths Pairings For the record, I only grinded four times total, and here's why: Main Thoughts on the Gameplay, Story, etc. Characters Random Thoughts and Observations This took much longer than I thought it would to write, by the way. I also would have given my final turn count and how many battles/kills everyone got, but my phone sucks and the pictures/videos took up too much space, so I had to delete them.
  3. Hi! I am working on a project to provide weighted character growth rates to one another for each mainstream Fire Emblem game and have just completed the barebones version of Awakening. Let me know what you guys think and I am open to criticism, new ideas and personal preferences! For more information, click here! 4. Now that the DLC is out, let's have a place where we can actually talk about it and our experiences. Post here about anything regarding the latest DLC pack.
  5. So hear me out. When you played Echoes, and possibly also Gaiden, at any point, did any of you guys think like you were exploring a big open world once? When I played through other games that involved me roaming around the continent, I sort of felt like I was in the adventure, exploring the great open world, and seeing so many new things. Even Awakening offered some aspects, but there it was two continents explored. Valentia, and by extension Valm, really didn't feel that grand to me. It felt so small. Like it was a very small world, and it was only the act of dungeon crawling that ever gave it a big more bulk to it. What about you guys, did any of you guys think that you were at all exploring a continent when playing Gaiden/Echoes when compared to other Fire Emblem games?
  6. Greetings everyone, new user here. I started playing Awakening a few months ago, though I've been following my brother's playthroughs of Awakening and Fates well before that. Once I clear Awakening for the first time, I'll be moving on to Fates. My brother and I were recently discussing a what-if scenario where the rest of the Awakening children (barring possibly Morgan) returned in Fates, each sporting a new name like Inigo/Laslow, Owain/Odin, and Severa/Selena. We talked about which faction each would default to as well as gender distribution, class selection, and what the male descendant's children might be like. These were our choices: Nohr Gerald (Gerome) - Wyvern Rider, Oni Savage - Can have a son named Gordon. Gordon - Wyvern Rider, Oni Savage Kellen (Kjelle) - Knight, Oni Savage Neina (Nah) - Manakete, Diviner Nohr already has three out of Awakening's twelve, two males and one female, so that leaves room for three more with the inverse gender ratio. Gerome and Kjelle make perfect sense as their primary classes are Nohrian in Fates. Nah's inclusion is mostly to counterbalance Yarne in Hoshido. Hoshido Bary (Brady) - Monk, Troubadour - Can have a son named Gan. Gan - Monk, Troubadour Wule (Yarne) - Taguel, Fighter - Can have a daughter named Linne. Linne - Taguel, Fighter Renzu (Laurent) - Diviner, Dark Mage - Can have a daughter named Miru. Miru - Diviner, Dark Mage Celia (Cynthia) - Sky Knight, Knight Kuro (Noire) - Archer, Dark Mage Lumina (Lucina) - Samurai (prepromoted to Swordmaster), Cavalier Yarne's with Hoshido mostly as a nod to the moon rabbit myth. Cynthia and Noire's default classes are Hoshidan in Fates. Since Nohr already has Inigo, Owain, and in this scenario Gerome, that means Brady and Laurent go to Hoshido for gender balance. And since Nohr already has six Awakening kids, that leaves Lucina for Hoshido.
  7. This is an idea I've had to myself for a while but haven't really gotten too far into detail on, but now seems to be the best time to share it with the new banner announcement XD I've had an idea for some time about how a few of the Awakening DLC characters could be great in the game as most have special things about them. I've largely held off due to the whole Fateswakening focus last year and negative feedback on said focus, but now it seems more plausible to me. What I have in mind is the following: Unexpected Heroes Banner (Title not necessarily final): Aversa- Red Tome Flier Most people wanted Aversa in the game as a non-seasonal, permanent tome flier. We do have Morgan have now, which I feel makes it more of a possibility Gangrel- Sword Infantry Gangrel would have the Levin Sword. I'm not sure whether or not it should be a personal weapon or not. I imagine it would target resistance (only resistance) and attack at a range of 1 but also allow Gangrel to use melee only skills such as wrath and sacred cowl and also not have to worry about tomebreakers or, ironically, Falchion. His weapon would also allow distant counter. Emmeryn- Staff Infantry Originally I hadn't thought of including Emmeryn until I saw a skill of Izana of Fates called Peace Bringer "Allies and enemies within a 2 tile radius receive 2 less damage" (from the Fire Emblem Wikia). I imagine this skill could be adjusted to fit with Heroes' other skills and to better fit the meta. I could have given Emmeryn a tome, but I chose not to as I felt that staves fit her personality better. I haven't decided what she should have, but I'm thinking a personal staff would make a lot of sense. Maybe something along the lines of how Fear+ or Candlelight+ work? I'm not sure yet. GHB: Walhart- Axe Cavalier I had the idea of Walhart being the best way to finish the weapons triangle of DC Melee GHB Calvary weapon triangle we have in Xander and Camus. His personal weapon would be Wolfberg and he'd have the conqueror skill, BUT I'm thinking it should probably have a different effect than in Awakening. Haven't decided, but I'm thinking it should either involve damage reduction or damage increase against certain types of units. Tempest Trials- Challenger from the Tempest: Priam- Sword Infantry At the time I was thinking of this, I thought everyone getting a F2P Ike would be cool. This was before a Hero Rises was a thing and we all got V'Ike. I still Priam could have his own uses though. Priam also didn't get much screen time or backstory in his source game, and Heroes could go deeper into his story like it has for some other characters. Originally, I had in mind to have Priam as a Grand Hero Battle, but at a friend's suggestion, I decided to put him in the TT. The final map can be a callback to the epic battle against him in Awakening. His personal weapon would be Ragnell, but worn down like the one seen in Awakening (I kind of wish DC units had a different animation for attacking at a distance just so we could have an animation of him throwing Ragnell at enemies XD) I also feel having Priam come out of the tempest himself in search for new people to contest his strength against is just fitting. Especially as it's how he was introduced in Awakening, sort of. *Yen'fay is also in consideration for somewhere, wielding Amatsu with built in DC. I'm planning on editing this post at a later time to include skills and stats. The latter may take more time as custom banners is something I'm just trying out for the first time. I'd like feedback and ideas as well as discussion on the viability or possibility this might happen. If you have any ideas or opinions on this hypothetical banner, just reply below. Do you see this as a potential addition to Heroes somewhere down the line? Characters so far: Emmeryn Gangrel
  8. A new banner is here! Awakening themed and includes Morgan x2 and a new alt for Chrom.
  9. Time travel. It's seriously confusing as f*ck! Awakening did not explain to us exactly what happened in the original timeline. Only gives us the bare minimum. However, here, I will discuss with you what I think happened in the original timeline based on the information that has been given to us by the game and other sources that I could remember from. And you guys can chime in and give me your thoughts on what might have happened. So similar to Awakening being separated into three arcs, I'll do the same thing. Plegia Arc The biggest thing that we can draw from this is that in the original timeline, Emmeryn died at Validar's hands and the Fire Emblem was stolen. Along with that, Chrom sustained a critical injury that apparently scarred him for life. Now due to this, it's obvious that the Plegian War lasted longer, as it was Emmeryn's sacrifice that made her a martyr and the majority of Plegians to desert en masse. But she died here and thus was no martyr. However, I do not think that Lucina's birth was ever delayed. Rather, even with the war lasting longer, I think the birth of everyone does still happen in the proper course. So Lucina would be born around the same time as the infant Lucina in Awakening was born in. However, with Validar possessing the Fire Emblem, he also held Argent and Sable, two of the five gemstones. He only required the remaining three, two of which were located in Valm. Valm Arc Now here's where I am making several theories that I think actually has support behind it. See, Valm invades Ylisse after they had successfully united the continent. However, if the war with Plegia lasted longer for Ylisse, then 2 years is much too quick for Ylisse to even try to put up a response and handle it. However, note this: Say'ri cannot support with ANYONE but Robin and Tiki in Awakening. Why is that? Simple: Say'ri died in the original timeline. The Yen'fey that we recruit in the final paralogues, he explains that he never joined Walhart, and this led to Say'ri's death. However, note that Yen'fey's involvement actually plays a MAJOR role in the story. Yen'fey shows in Awakening that he was someone to be feared. In fact, many dynasts were too terrified to take on Walhart and Yen'fey when the two were working together, but the moment that Yen'fey died, all the dynasts went under Ylisse's banner. So if Yen'fey never joined Walhart, this would obviously mean that Walhart would have to deal with a lot more resistance, which would very well slow his entire campaign down. So if Walhart eventually won and united Valm, it would have taken quite some time. And he would have ultimately claimed Vert. Yen'fey, having failed to save Say'ri, abandoned the resistance against Walhart, which led to Walhart's victory, and Yen'fey eventually ended up in the past. To anyone that might ask why Yen'fey resisted Walhart in the first timeline, but surrendered in the Awakening timeline, I can only believe that it has to do with Emmeryn. If he got word that Emmeryn's sacrifice led to a mass desertion of the Plegian army, he intended to do something similar. Where by joining Walhart and holding as much fear and power as Walhart did, Yen'fey's death would crush much of Walhart's grip on the continent, and this would lead to the Ylissian army becoming victorious. Anyways, original timeline had Valm have a harder time, and thus did not have as much resources as before. Ylisse likely was able to match the power enough to break in and fight back, but Basilio is ultimately killed by Walhart. Walhart ultimately claims Gules by this, thus holding two of the gemstones, and Tiki ended up also giving the Azure Gemstone to Chrom. Of course, it's debatable on whether Tiki joined in the original timeline. After all, Lucina in the chapter we see Tiki the first time implies that Lucina and Tiki never met in the original timeline, so don't think of the Future Past in here for their meeting. Ultimately, Chrom defeats Walhart and claims the two Gemstones from him. Or what could have happened is that Validar had Excellus steal those two Gemstones for him. Grimleal Arc Given the amount of time, there likely has been a number of years that passed, either through those two wars, or other ways. Overall, the kids are all born and they have trained a bit as kids. However, likely Validar lured Chrom and the others and ultimately attained the final Gemstone. This led for him performing an Awakening ritual to release Grima. Chrom and the others intersected him and tried to stop him. But even though they had won, it is revealed that it was too late, and Grima was unsealed, possessing Robin and striking Chrom at the spot he had been scarred, ultimately killing him. And thus Grima was released, and the remaining parents and children ended up taking the fight, though the parents all fell one by one. Robin Biggest factor in some of these things is Robin himself. We have no idea who he was originally. His personality might in fact have been a mystery. Robin's personality in the games is due to him lacking his memories. Without memories, he's more interactive and wanting to learn about as much he can. It's mostly a way so he can have new memories to have a sense of identity back. However, would Robin be the same if he was with his memories intact? Maybe not. If his memories were intact, whatever happened to his past, or maybe him even being aware of his Grimleal connection, and this could make him a bit more distant with others. Without the bonds that tied him to his friends, he would actually be more susceptible to Grima's influence, eventually making it hard for him to even try to resist Grima and thus succumbed to his influence. This one is though a lot more speculative, since we have no understanding of Robin's backstory.
  10. Okay, so with Grima being out as a unit in FE Heroes, I got him and got his quote as well at LV40. ANd my god, what a quote this is: "You are a curious one... You willingly come to chat with me? The fell dragon? Alone? You know full well how I detest humans. They have no qualms asking for divine assistance when it meets their fickle needs... But how quick they are to shun their benefactors once they get what they desire. They become arrogant and make the same mistakes repeatedly, incapable of learning the folly of their ways. They claim their actions are for the good of others, but that's merely a show of self-indulgence. Humans are selfish. And the ugliness of mankind has turned me repulsive. It's the world that wants me to be evil. And yet you claim to need me here? Enough of your lies, worm. How dare you look at me with such a gaze. Do not dare pity me!" So a while back on an FE subreddit, I posted this: And I cannot believe that I was actually right. Grima truly does hate the world because of humanity being evil. Yes, some texts about how he is created is different, but overall, the Grimleal act in that Grima is meant to punish the world, and Grima is doing just that. Humans are evil and want him to be, so he will gladly do so. Like... WHAT?! It was just my thought about what Grima could be. What he represents... BUT I'M RIGHT?! ... I just... What?
  11. I've seen a few tier lists for Lunatic and hard mode no grind (because grinding makes anyone good or correct until lategame). I think some units are overrated while some are underrated. S tier: - Sumia: while she has the speed to double in hard mode when she joins, she's another chip unit for a good while before reaching her owerspike for like 2 chapters and then becomes a staff/rally bot or support. I don't see why she should be S tier since her placement is really hard to optimize as a flying unit and she won't get reclassed into a foot unit for long if you don't ant to loose too much mobility/start over from level 1 with no mobility at all or no weapons (if reclassed before promotion). She can make a fast GK etc. but in no grind, feeding her 23 levels of exp to get rally speed seems a bit of a waste while with avatar you have a free rally spectrum with more bulk and rally needs bulk except if you can position the rally bot outside of ennemies' range (lol most maps are like you're in the middle and 25 ennemies circle you by turn 3 with wind mages and archers). So I'd put her high B-rank because her mobility is good but she needs hell of a bias to get anywhere close to middle A-tier. - Olivia: as a dancer she has a useful skill. But same problem as Sumia: squishy AF so she needs to never be in ennemies' range not to die, she won't ever see combat as a dancer in no grind, she won't be able to dance very often (not even 10x per map so less than 1 level up per map meaning she's even more OHKO food for ennemies without any natural avoid skills (+4 luck isn't an avoid skill)) and like I explained above ennemies surround you in most chapters with a few ones having ranged weapons and the old rescue mechanic gone to put her even more behind because if she get hit she's dead (no miracle for dancers sadly it would be much more useful than their useless luck +4 and a medium-level single target rally on dance, especially luck +4 in a game where 4 luck means 2 avoid LOLOLOL so damn useless) and she starts...at level 1 with awful bases (while in TSS the dancer started with some workable def/res and good growths in it with wonderful avoid and growths in avoid stats, like 80/70% in speed and luck and 50+ in res) and nearly 0 HP since 18 means OHKO by anyone from chapter 11 to epilogue. with terrain bonuses halved for most of them she can't even benefit from forests to dodge anything (10 avoid instead of 1 def 20 avoid in a game with 140 hit rate ennemies LOL this game's design is killing me). So yes dancer is useful but Olivia in Awakening is just not that good of a dancer and joins too late to even reach level 15 before ending and she will get killed by anything that get close to her, even a mid-late game thief/trickster. - Lon'zu: why is he S-tier? I don't know, his only good point is joining with a killer sword which can be used by any other sword unit who got exp even before he joined and who reached higher strength/defence and maybe even speed and skill if the unit got blessed (or just Chrom since he has the same speed, skill, 2x Lon'zu's strength and 2.5x his def, a bit more res and 2x more luck around level 12 at this point). Lon'Zu will never get enough strength to be ORKOing any ennemy in late game if the crit/astra doesn't activate (which happens a bit too often sometimes and tends to apply several times in a row), he can dodgetank: yes and no. In no pair up runs try to make him and his 60-ish avoid dodge the 140+ hit rate ennemies (even avoid +10 makes it 70ish avoid it lets them have around 70% hit so no dodgetank isn't the solution for that) and he's as squishy as swordmaster Olivia (which I use often for a swordfaire Lucina). It's like playing luntic + FE:TSS with squishy chip units. I know it doesn't exist but if it existed you wouldn't want to use any swordmaster to clean it since even in normal difficulty swordmasters need godly strong weapons to ORKO anything with medium def in no grind runs (so strength not capped in unpromoted AND promoted classes most of the time). I didn' see anyone even arguing about his reclassing options. Wyvern has too many weaknesses for no grind runs (and no swords) and thief isn't supposed to be a combat class. A tier: - Sully: she can be worthy of it as well as be screwed by RNG especially in early level ups. Mine just got her 2 first level ups to be +1HP +1luck and +1HP +1strength. She didn't raise her def for like 5 levels, her strength and def got locked at 8-9 until level 8 and her speed struggled to blow up from the start. Finally she got saved by 2 excellent level ups (as in everything ecept magic and res went up) and then she found her way to 17 speed and average everything else. She is a semi-myrmidon cavalier with less speed/avoid/skill than a myrmidon and less bulk than an average cavalier so she doesn't want to get screwed by RNG or else she's good to be benched since her start is the moment when she can get strong or completely left behind. Myrmidon cuts her from 2 move and some bulk and lance use so it's not really nice on a no pair up run (I mean he unit isn't self-sufficient which A-tier is for). -Lissa: your first healer, balanced shitty growths can pull her up to Libra's level 1 pre-promote base stats when she's 20/1 warmonk or she can be a more magic-oriented staff bot sage with more survivability than Miriel (miracle from level 1 saves her from B-tier). She has good reclass options for support but in no grind wamonk or sage is all she needs. - Anna: I don't see why she's A-tier and Libra B to C-tier. I'll write about him later. She has no combat prowess and is not by any means self-sufficient, she has good mobility but struggles to move to chests by herself without getting killed so she needs more of a mobile turtle tactic. Past turn 7 she looses 20 avoid and hit (so if you plan on taking all the reinforcements be careful she won't be able to dodgetank like pre-turn 7). She doesn't have any rally in her thief classes. - Frederick is a must have in early game in lunatic, he's a good pair up partner in hard, he can chip ennemies to feed kills to noob units until Stahl and Kellam catch up with him (around chapter 6-8). He's needed in early game in no grind runs and he's a must in no pair up runs since your units loose their +4 def or speed precious bonuses from pair up. He's not going to see late game mainly because if his growths seem better than Stahl's on paper, I've never or close to never seen a Frederick be as good as Stahl (even as 20/20 in any class from level 1 GK) so he won't bump to S tier but he is useful AF for a challenger's early game. - Maribelle: LMAO this unit should go down to high C tier: she won't ever see any combat as her bases and unpromoted growths lead her to be the worst unpromoted unit in the game (worse than Ricken), she doesn't learn the skill which gives +5 healing power on staves in her base class and has to go for 10 more unpromoted with -2 move to get this and miracle which she doesn't start with either (making her even worse at taking a hit than level 1 Lissa when she joins) and even when promoted she isn't worth it. I still prefer using Miriel in a no grind no pair up run than using Maribelle while I'm asking myself if I should just promote Miriel before level 20 to get staves and reroll sage as many times as I have to for her to have correct stats. Maribelle can be useful in grind runs bu in no grind she's like her kid, but worse, not even able to promote for 7 levels and D-rank in staves when Lissa is already C in no grind and even more in grind runs (maybe A lol). And she can't move more than 2 tiles in the desert, 3 chapers before reaching 2 desert chapters in a row (XD so useless) without having base access to ranged staves and with terrible range on them (just before recruiting Libra, pre-promote who doesn't require any stat booster, can move in the desert like it's home, has more stats near everywhere than level 20/1 Maribelle and C axes and C base rank staves). B tier: - Stahl: people often discuss about Stahl's tier, his speed means he's not able to be the MVP of the game though. He's a slow-starting Frederick who replaces him on the long run as the mobile tank of the army. He chips well, he's accurate enough to hit most of the time with >=80% hit weapons, not so reliable with lower hit rate weapons. I would put him to A-tier because he has no match for what he does (Kellam has less mobility untill reclassed thief level 10 or promoted into GK and he looses on some growths as a GK like res and maybe skill) and he has the best availability for a tank, having time to get to his powerspike by chapter 7 (maybe 6 if you managed to replace Fred by Stahl or if unlike me you didn't force yourself to use Miriel). And his GK promotion gives him the best tank weapon: the axe. Why the axe? Because sword users don't hit as hard as lance/axe users so he's better with a weapon that gives him +10 avoid and -1 damage from lances and neutral advantage against axes. Cuz' yes, his avoid kind of sucks. Libra: He heals as much as Anna, has more bulk, miracle, level 15 he has sustain each turn (so can use miracle again if needed), he has a rally even if it's not the best, he has combat utility with ordinary weapons unlike Anna who needs rare weapons to be of any utility in figts and joins with a killer axe so he can take a few ennemies down in his joining chapter if you want. He's rarely in danger because of his solid bases and he pees on 20/1 Maribelle in any stat except luck and maybe speed. All his classes are useful even for combat unlike Maribelle with awful bases awful growths (most of the time she's worse than Lissa at level 20 unpromoted). Virion: depending on how you use him (and how much too) he can be a better Miriel or a wyvern knight or straight to bow knight for extra movement and bowbreaker. He can also be benched without hurting your army. B rank is fine, I just wanted to remind he's not only an archer but also a mage and wyvern rider (like Panne but she's faster than him and stronger too). Gaius: B is where I put him: useful for early chests in a game that stupidly didn't provides keys for chests most of the time, Gaius is one of the slowest starting combat units. Better go with anyone else rather than him for combat, even Vaike is more salvageable thanks to his availability lead while Gaius comes underlevelled with iron swords only and gutter fighting stats. Even his speed is subpar by the time he joins (many ennemies have as much as him as fighting units lol and myrmidons are faster than him). Without reclassing/promoting he won't even get fighting skills to help his crappy start and thieves can't even steal anymore so...what's the point of keeping this class? Zelcher: some people bias her, but even if I like her style (except the maid thing in her outfit it's just good for frustrated otakus who go in maid cafes to feel loved or respected for money) I admit that her base level is too low to be good. If she came at level 16 she would probably be better (especially her base speed) but anyways her class set in totally absurd with one physical offensive base class and 2 magical support classes with only 1 hybrid and 0 physical promotion. She doesn't even get bowbreaker or tomebreaker so she's left behind by IS because she can't tank effectively in the Valm arc AND late game where there are archers and mages with each sort of tomes in every chapter. As a support she's probably the balance between Libra and Maribelle, and it's not a good thing, because from Libra she has physical bulk and combat ability as a warmonk while from Maribelle she has shitty magic, bad magic bases and worse growths than Maribelle. Cordelia: I think she deserves low A-tier: she has mercenary's bases and growths but with higher res than mercenaries and she can reclass into mercenary, so her flyer class isn't forced onto you. Even if she's not a great magic user, she has access to dark mage, which should be considered before putting her into B-tier. Gregor: His bases are correct, he's C-rank in swords and comes with a steel sword. He's usable, but he's an all-rounder, the type that Stahl's supports define as average in everything, good or bad in nothing. His Strength is correct, his skill is average (especially for his class which should have just a bit less skill than archers), his speed is average (like Stahl's but Stahl is more mobile without skills and should have gained much more levels than Gregor when this one is recruited), his def is average, his luck is average, his res is the same shit as any physical unit and he has average tank HP. Nowi: awful bases, awful growths (Myrrh would be ashamed by her weakling baby), 6 move locked dragon (saved by 1/2 ranged weapon), limited weapons until chapter 12 (like Panne in her original form), reclassing options aren't really amazing. No sol access and life drain is on player phase. Henry: awful base speed, other base stats are about the same level as Zelcher with more rounded stats. His class set makes up for his crappy base speed, he's a dark mage who can open chests while nosferatanking. In no grind run, he's too late to be reclassed into thief but in grind runs he's very useful for gold digging, treasure hunting and all this without being hurt by anything. But in no grind he's in the low B-tier because he comes way too late and his combat is even worse than Zelcher due to ennemies having much more speed than him (in no pair up run he's garbage you can probably let him die to slow the bottom ennemies while you rush to the top to slaughter the boss before getting subjugated by the waves of ennemies while being attacked from archers from the hills). Say'ri: considering her bases, the economy of a master seal and her immediate access to B-swords, she comes just in time to be used. Her hard difficulty bases are better by 1 point everywhere and 2 HP than her normal bases, which you can't say about Lon'zu and she has more rounded defensive stats. She also has wyvern reclass option which I already talked about, but she has pegasus instead of thief, which is more suited for support/combat. Still Say'ri is best used as a swordmaster or assassin and dodgetanking without pair ups and infinite stats potions /stats boosters isn't the best idea in this game for a no grind. But if you want a swordmaster, she can make you save exp on Lon'zu for other units (because no pair-ups=supports don't really affect your efficiency in combat and by no pair ups I mean units aren't supposed to dual-strike either, old classic way, except for trio attacks like pegasi in TSS or the brothers in POR/RD) so that you can level up anyone who you like instead (if you have a bias you can give Lon'zu's exp to your bias). I see Lon'zu vs Say'ri as Edward vs Zihark. The first can surpass the latter but odds are RNG and anyway without support bonuses it's the same so why would you give tons of exp to someone just to get him to the same level than the other and waste items and this exp pool? Miriel: a weaker version of FE:TSS's Lute: good magic (but not capping without grinding or bias), bad skill (or mediocre if you're blessed), medium speed to double slow units, bad defence while Lute had often around 14-17 defence without any items (similar to Awakening's hard difficulty 24 or so defence) and Lute benefitted from better terrain bonuses and lower ennemy hit rate coupled with better early to late game avoid even as a pure stat (not taking hit rate into account). Same subpar res for a magical unit (like a natural swordmaster's defence) she's like Say'ri with tomes. Her reclassing options save her from being benched from the start as sorcerer and dark knight can make up for her shitty bulk, but she's still better off as a staff bot sage. Tiki: never recruited her 'or maybe in normal grind so long ago that I don't even remember. A better version of Nowi, with solid bases unlike her baby version and with better growth rates. She is hard to recruit and has the same problems as Nowi for reclass options. B+ because a good manakete is always useful but her availability, paralogue with tens of flyers spawning everywhere and rushing towards her like exponential growth zombies towards the exit but you have to protect her for the whole time while not dying yourself to ennemy waves (litterally waves, like tsunami of ennemies). It's the Fire Emblem: Prepare to die edition. Better take her spotpass character who has access to all classes and costs around 17k (and access to dragonstone+ is nice) but it's forbidden in no grind+no pair up. Basilio: very late, usable bases (at least he can rally strength) and saves you from using Gaius or Vaike for this purpose. Not really useful in fights in no grind and even less in no pair up but his rally is even better in no pair up since it makes up for the absence of support bonus stats. If you give him 5 level ups he learns counter, take it if you want. His reclassing makes him better at tanking and general gives him rally defence. C tier: Flavia: the speedy version of Basilio without rally strength and with better res (still you won't throw her into walls of ennemies either since she has too low defensive stats for it). Can replace Anna for late game chest hunting if you can make her gain the 9 thief levels to go to trickster/assassin in 1 or 2 skirmishes but in absolute no grind she's just a replacement for the crazy ones who play in classic no reset if they lost...Gregor maybe? XD he's the only one she could replace exactly or even surpass for the same class level without reclassing. I like her character design, her impossible love with Basilio (the 1st black man I've seen in a Japanese artwork without the big lips or the colossus black American body guard stereotype, maybe he's a mixed-blooded with some white people lol as Flavia doesn't have such a dark skin and she's blonde), but she's hardly salvageable at this point of the game, she comes 5 chapters too late to be really good. She could be upper if she had ore availability... Overall late characters: If you want to plainly use late game/underlevelled joining characters like Henry, Tiki, Basilio and Flavia, just force yourself into the challenge "no grind, no reclass" and eventually "no pair up" and why not "no reset" for peope who don't mind loosing units due to a random 2% crit rate ennemy (that also means your Chrom can die to the boss in prologue due to 6% crit rate so you're gonna restart the game from the prologue XD good luck on no reset).
  12. I got to thinking, what if Sacred Stones's Story went differently? What if instead of Lyon using the Dark Stone, what if it was Vigarde? It's that premise that I was thinking to change Sacred Stones's story, adding some classes, characters, chapters, and many supports. I also was thinking of adding things from other games, like awakenings pair up and children system, both Awakening and Fates paralogue, system, and some other features I still need to think. My question is thoughts, suggestions, and has it been done already? I don't wanna take someone elses idea :/
  13. I'm a huge fan of Awakening. Also a huge dan of Sacred Stones's looks and their Wyvern Knight class (kreygasm). I have been looking and studying and thinking and thought it'd be cool to see awakening (with some tweaks and additions) using a hyper modified Sacred Stones. My research shows it'd be a massive ammount of work but hey. Thoughts, suggestions, tips, am i crazy?
  14. This is the feedback for my new story: Link to Fire Emblem: The Grimleal's return: A few things to keep in mind: I am NOT confirming any ships whatsoever, there's a few that you can probably guess but they will not be mentionned directly in this story. The chapters will be written like if they would be written in a video game Robin is female because I want her too. Robin could also be male, it has no effect on the story. This story is not an explanation of what happened before what is shown on the Awakening Drama CD. In fact I would say it's something entirely different, basically of how I would see everything that happened before they go back to the future. Have a good read and post if you find any mistakes!
  15. Prologue: Aftermath Despite everything that happened previously; Robin never could have guess how long the conflict would last. The war against Walhart the Conqueror alone lasted two painfully long years. There were various factors that caused this length of time to pass. Having to transport the army by boat initially then waiting for the self same fleet to return with reinforcements and more supplies was another. They also had to be very careful about moving in Valm as well as the risk of ambush was high and Robin didn't want to walk into any traps. When they finally returned to Ylisse; it was quickly discovered that they had been tricked by the King of Plegia, Validar. Originally Validar had wanted to invite them to the Capitol of Plegia so that he could steal the Fire Emblem. However due to the fact that the war on Valm lasted longer than he anticipated Validar changed his plans and invaded Ylisse with soldiers that he'd safeguarded. He had them infiltrate the Ylisseans and it took the Shepherds an entire year to get rid of the soldiers. It was clear to Chrom what had to be done and he ordered through Robin a full scale invasion on Plegia. This new war lasted a further two years leading up to a final confrontation at the Dragon's table. Robin figuring it was safer to keep the Shepherds out of the Dragon's Table ordered them to wait for her and Chrom to deal with Validar. She did not want to risk anyone being injured by Risen which had become a common name for the strange beasts that had been attacking Ylisse and the surrounding nations. Surprisingly enough for both Robin and Chrom, Validar did not pull much of a fight against them. But of course Robin wasn't born yesterday, she expected some kind of dirty tricks up the Sorcerer's sleeve like the one that he pulled off back at the Plegia castle. Chrom made a terrible mistake of not paying attention at the worst moment possible when the Sorcerer casted another spell as his last resort. Robin just had enough time to push him out of the way before the spell hits her instead. Fortunately, she didn't die but a few seconds after, she was feeling weird. Her vision was getting strange and she had a hard time hearing Chrom. Before that both realized it, Robin stabbed Chrom in the chest with thunder magic ''This is not your... your fault...'' said weakely Chrom holding his chest, who hasn't realize that Robin was posseded. ''Promise me you will escape from this place. Please now...go.'' he felt on the ground. Despite Validar being dead, Robin could still hear the Sorcerer's laugh. Grima had successfully posseded Robin. The Exalt was on the ground with his legendary sword near him. Grima grinned using his vessel. ''One child of Naga death.'' said the fell dragon, Robin's voice was now distorded because Grima. He had the perfect plan to kill the little girl using the host body as a way to fool the humans. He was about to go outside when he felt someone stabbing him in the back. He turned his head only to see Chrom, who was still alive somehow, using all his remaing strength to impale Grima with the Falchion. He then crumbled on the ground near the fell Dragon. ''I... love you... Lu...cina.'' said Chrom before his eyes turn into lifeless eyes. Grima removed the sword from his body and tossed it aside like a twig, the blow wasn't deadly due to the sword not being blessed by the Awakening. But it was still a wound and it hurts A LOT because his host was human after all. ''Tsh.'' Grima knew it wouldn't even leave a scar once this wound fully heals. It will only delays his inevitable victory and gives the last child of Naga a few more years to breath. Hopefully he would have time to kill her before she has a chance to be at an age to reproduce, not that would matter anyway. He warped to the castle and sealed himself inside a secret chamber so he can begin his recovery using magic. He had no servants to give tasks or feed upon. For now, the Risen will be on their own. The Shepherds managed to hold their ground although a few had to retreat due to severe wounds. But the worst was when they went inside once they realized that neither Chrom or Robin have returned. This is where they made the gruesome discovery. The Shepherds won another battle and resolved another conflict but they paid a high price for this day: their leader was dead and their tactician was missing in action. Chrom's funeral was quiet for the most part; Lucina however was almost screaming at the top of her lungs with grief. Her mother held the child into her chest in an attempt to soothe her but Lucina was inconsolable. Joining the poor little girl was Lissa, Frederick and all of the Shepherds. A funeral who reminded them of Basilio's who died during the Valm conflict. A few days after, Lissa was crowned new Exalt of Ylisse. That event wasn't as cheerful as it should be since the mourning that was still very well present in everyone's mind. The members of the Shepherds who weren't from Ylisse went back to live in their native land: Flavia now ruled alone in Ferox, Virion, who was previouslly a duke, had become a King since him and Cherche helped the people of Valm during a great time of needs. Finally, Tharja was crowned Queen of Plegia with Henry as her right hand. A few days after Lissa's crowning, Frederick was summon to the throne room. The place infested with a very sad atmosphere, Frederick could only wait as he waits for the Council to make their decision. Lucina was playing with her only friend, her cousin Owain while her mother was watching over them. The only thing that was lighting the mood up was Lissa's new outfit, an outfit similiar to Emmeryn's. Her cleric princess outfit was not fitting of her new position. ''Your Highness.'' all the men of the Council turned to Lissa. She alone could apply any decisions, the Council could only suggest solutions and punishements for the Exalt. ''We highly suggest that you remove Frederick from his role as an Exalt's guardien.'' Lucina's mother gasped. ''But Chancellor...'' said Lissa to the man who spoke to her. ''It wasn't Frederick's fault if Robin--'' ''With all due respect, your Highness.'' interrupted the Chancellor. ''I understand clearly your bond and your trust over this man. However, a guardien who fails to protect the Exalt is in our opinion, a fail guardien.'' the man said before adding. ''What's more he had an unique second chance with your brother and yet he has fail once more.'' Lissa groaned in the inside, how harshly of him to speak of Frederick like he was an incompetent. The Knight did many things for her siblings and herself over the years. ''However...'' he continued. ''We would be fools to simply discard his experience. For this reason, I suggest that he keeps his high position in the Shepherd and that he also continues to train the new recruits. And if your Highness could choose another member of the Shepherds as your Guardien if you prefer.'' ''And perhaps Frederick could also become the princess's mentor.'' suggested a member behind the Chancellor. ''But--'' Lissa insisted, it wasn't fair for him at all! ''Lissa wait!'' suddently said Frederick who was silent the whole time. ''I understand how you feel and trust me, I feel it even more. However if the Council wishs to put the blame on me, then for your sake, Lucina's, Owain's and Ylisse's, I'll accept it. What's more those suggestions do not seem so bad at first glance.'' he smiled, he didn't want Lissa to go through a diffucult decision like this one when she just started out as the new Exalt. Lissa hesitated, she knew it was still wrong despite Frederick's resignation. But... she also knew it was for the best. ''Alright Frederick, if you are so sure it's alright than I'll accept those suggestions... I'll also decide who shall be my new guardien soon.'' she decided which made the joy of the Council and made Lucina's mother sighs in frustration while the two childs wonder what is going on. ... A few years later, a enormous group of Risen attacked the capital and the surrounding villages. The Shepherds did everything in their power to stop the multiple assaults, they managed to do so after a few months. However, not only did many soldiers died for their country, many members of the Shepherds suffered the same fate. One of them being Lucina's mother. Upon this day, the princess was now raised by her aunt Lissa and Frederick. ... More years later, Lucina is almost an adult. The princess has a much serious personality than when she was a child, however she still kept her kindness toward others. On Lucina's hair was a tiara, a gift that her mother gave her when she was little and has also become the memento of her mother. Apparently this tiara was once the Hero King Marth's. Her hair was bouncing on her shoulders as she was training with Frederick outside in the back garden. Frederick had trained Lucina to the sword since the day he has become her mentor. Her father had already showed her how to use a sword, Frederick was only helping her improve. Lucina never knew why she had to train until she asked Frederick the question one day, he responded: ''For self-defense''. She trains so often that she almost no longer wears dress (dress that are most of the time not of her taste since dress of her taste are ''very... unique'' according to her aunt), she wears most of the time her training gear: a simple light armor that protect her shoulders, chest, hips and part of her legs. She also has a blue cape that is red in the inside. The two of them were sparring until Frederick sees that Lucina is getting tired. ''A breather, Lucina?'' ''I could use one...'' Lucina dropped her training sword before asking. ''Frederick, do you think one day I'll be equal to my father?'' ''One day you will Lucina, one day you will.'' said certaintly Frederick who almost expected the question. The years had given a few grey hairs but the Great Knight is still in good shape. He looked at the stables briefly, his horse was sadly no longer here to entertain him with her calm look. ''Shall we continue?'' asked Frederick after a moment. ''Yes.'' said Lucina as she picks up the training sword. Frederick is now a bit farway from her. ''Come to me and strike me with your strongest blow!'' Lucina grunted before quickly running up to him and striking him with her sword. ''Remember...'' reminded Frederick. ''Melees weapons all have an advantage and weakness. My axe is weak against your sword for example.'' Lucina did not answer, she was too busy striking him. After a few minutes, Frederick called it for a day. ''Very good Lucina, you are doing good progress. Perhaps soon enough I won't have to hold back anymore.'' said the Great Knight proudly. Lucina sighed in relief, her arms and legs were ''burning'' from the inside. But she felt good despite being a little bit exausted. Not too far away, a short blonde woman is looking at them in her shiny outfit.
  16. My favorites in the Fire Emblem series are. GBA: Elibe Saga. 2 Smash Characters: Telius Saga. 3DS: Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. (Finally playing it, and enjoying it so far.) Spinoff saga: Warriors. Past Titles: Genealogy of the Holy War.
  17. Hey all, I've been working on this fan fiction for a while, and by for a while I mean that I started it a long time ago and then life got busy so I stopped and because I stopped, I lost motivation. So now we're here. Hope to get back into writing and hoping some of you beautiful people can poke me hard enough to make me keep writing. Basically the premise of the story is an alternate universe take on the world (but moreso the characters) of Awakening. I feel like the absurd elements of Awakening's cast would fit really well into a cheesy high school dromedy. So that's what I did (read: tried to do) I've gotten a couple chapters and a half done and would love some feedback. I also post it on Fanfiction.net when it goes up so if you prefer to follow it there, that works as well. Side note: Yes, I know Virion is out of character. He'll get better but his being a tool is a tool for me to form his clique. FE High Chapter 1.docx
  18. Hi everybody, recently I've started to play Awakening (hard/classic), it's my first FE game apart from Heroes and my first game on Nintendo Hardware ever! So far its nice and fun, but I've reached a point where I would like to address some beginner questions to more experienced folk: Where would I find a good source/wiki for this game? Either the in-game explanations of some mechanics are insufficient, or I haven't found the right chapters yet. After completing a map, a dialog shows the hero of the map and the turn count. Is there any advantage in solving maps faster (with fewer turns)? How does doubling work? In Heroes a unit needs to have 5 more SPD to double the opponent. What I don't like is that weapons can wear out. Does the game give me more or less automatically what I need, or do I have to buy spare weapons for everyone to be sure? Level: Currently I'm at chapter 5 and I struggle to keep everyone alive, because team needs to split up to reach Maribelle and Ricken. Is there a way to grind some levels for my second row units? The arena gives me Level 11 enemies, which doesn't help to level up units from level 1-3. Chrom and Robin are pretty fast to gain levels and there is already a gap to the rest of the team. On one hand I would like to keep everyone on the same level, but on the other hand it's difficult to kill a Level 5 opponent with a Level 1 Stahl or Donnel. Is there a recommended maximum level gap? Low level Frederick seems to be stronger than other units with higher level. Does he have an advanced class or something? Support: If my attacking unit is adjacent to 2 allies, who will show up in the fight? How do I know when the ally will block or do an additional attack? What are the suggested ways to build up support? Collect low level support with 3-4 units at once, or try to get as high as possible before to start a second support? Pairing: Do additional attacks and blocks work like normal support? Should units with different attacking range be paired with each other (i.e. archers and Pegasus knights)? Or would this prevent additional attacks under some circumstances? In Paralogue 1 (Donnel quest) there is an opponent unit who opens a treasure chest. Could I lose important items by not chasing these guys? Which DLCs are recommended? I don't care very much about having Characters of older FE titles in Awakening. But if there is some nicely done content (story- or challenge-wise), I'd invest some money. Well, that are far more questions than I initially intended to do. I would be happy for every single answer, thanks in advance!
  19. I've been studying Fire Emblem a lot in my free time and my favorite time spender is "where does this game take place in?" Notes: I'll start by saying that I haven't actually played any of the dlc in awaking or fates other than the one that conects the both of them but I read their scripts so if some of my facts aren't completely correct sorry, also keep in mind schrodinger's cat (which means there's a possibility where one thing could have or not have happened) Example: who died, Deen or Sophia in Fire Emblem SoV or who did Marth recruit in that city the Hero or Paladin in Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, but it would not change the outcomes of the timeline (i.e Fire Emblem Awaking 3 timelines split). I'm also counting the remakes of previous games as the canon version (i.e the DS remakes and SoV) Lastly since Chrom did call Hoshido and Nohr as the MYTICAL kingdoms, I'm counting them as the same universe as awakening, sorta like how pokemon has legendary and mytical pokemon, mytical pokemon can only be captured at certain events while legendarys can be captured again and again every time you reset the game I will list different Timelines corresponding to each game's universe Timeline 1 Jugdral saga (FE4, FE5) 1000 Years Later > Archanea/Valentia saga (FE11, FE12, FE15) 2000 Years Later > Robin joins Grima willingly and the events of Lucinda's timeline happens, and the Inigo, Owain, and Severa of that timeline are brought to Nohr then the events Conquest, Birthright, or Revelations happens Timeline 2 Jugdral saga (FE4, FE5) 1000 Years Later > Archanea/Valentia saga (FE11, FE12, FE15) 2000 Years Later > Awakening's timeline happens, and the future Inigo, Owain, and Severa of that timeline are brought to Nohr then the events Conquest, Birthright, or Revelations happens Timeline 3 Jugdral saga (FE4, FE5) 1000 Years Later > Archanea/Valentia saga (FE11, FE12, FE15) 2000 Years Later > The DLC Future Past timeline happens, and the Inigo, Owain, and Severa of that timeline are brought to Nohr then the events Conquest, Birthright, or Revelations happens Timeline 4 FE7 20 Years Later > FE6 Timeline 5 FE8 Timeline 6 FE9 2 Years Later > FE10
  20. What if the fire emblem heroes were to fall and all their adventures were given to random people? The fire emblem has been corrupted by the presence of the fell dragons, now a lone group of adventurers must travel to the different worlds and pick up where the fallen heroes started. (roleplay is welcome to everyone, would prefer it if we roleplayed on discord. Canon and ocs are allowed
  21. So after Robin's sacrifice to kill Grima, he dissolves into nothingness. I wonder how long did it take for Chrom and Lissa to find him again? My guess is took about a year or two for them to finally meet Robin again. I'm taking in account the character endings happen before the final cutscene afterward Robin's ending happen.
  22. Okay so recently I’ve wondering about the reason for fire emblem’s decline a few years back and how awakening obtained it’s success. I know the obvious answer is they actually decided to market the game this time but was it really just a matter of marketing. I mean yeah the lack of marketing was certainly true for western countries but what about japan? I mean awakening was going to be the last game period. Not just in the west but of all time. I dunno It’s just something on my mind.
  23. Hello there! From what I see, the scramble pack lets characters interact in more exciting ways by entering the DLC maps. If this is true, what would be the best way to try out as many interactions as possible without having to start fresh save files? Many thanks!
  24. I'm just curious basing on their stats, and their personalities.Which of these is better? The Avatar, or Child unit? (I suppose I put this in the wrong category again.)
