  1. Lord: Lucina (Awakening.) Paladin: Seth (Sacred Stones.) Great Knight: Fredrick (Awakening.) Sniper: Takumi (Fates.) General: Amelia (Sacred Stones.) Falcon Knight: Florina (Blazing Sword.) Hero: Inigo/Laslow (Awakening/Fates.) Warrior: Garcia (Sacred Stones.) Sage/Onmyoji: Lilina (Binding Blade.) Bishop: Natasha (Sacred Stones.) Assassin: Matthew (Blazing Sword.) Swordmaster: Ryoma (Fates.) Valkyrie/Mage Knight/Strategist: Clarine (Binding Blade.) Bow Knight/Nomadic Trooper: Rath (Blazing Sword.) Berserker: Gonzales (Binding Blade.) Wyvern Lord: Milady (Binding Blade.) Sorcerer/Druid: Henry (Awakening.) Halberdier/Spear Master: Nephinee (Telius Series.) Rouge/Trickster/Adventurer: Sothe (Telius Series.) Dark Knight: Leo (Fates.) Master Ninja: Kaze (Fates.) War Monk/War Cleric: Lissa (Awakening.) Manakete: Tiki (Shadow Dragon/New Mystery of the Emblem/Awakening.) Other Shapeshifters: Tibarn (Telius games.) Decided to shorten it, because it would take up so much time, and probably fill up the whole comment. What are some of your favorites?
  2. So I finally cleared chapter 3 of Lunatic mode in Awakening (thank god!) and my Robin is now at level 10 which means she can use a second seal. I don't have access to Nosferatu tomes yet but was wondering which would be best; reclass into pegasus knight and go for Galeforce A.S.A.P. or go for dark mage/mage to continue to benefit from her +Mag?
  3. I bought the game two days ago and I have just reached chapter 22. I've found that a lot of the child units are hard to get going at a good time, mostly because the difficulty of their chapters varies SO drastically. Owain's was easy as piss, but Severa's was actually kinda hard the first time I went at it, and then Nah's is weird too. It's all weird. So I've hard to use the worldmap encounters to get most of the children going. I've also felt that a bad pairing in this game feels more punishing for the kid than in Fates (maybe its because the optimal kids in this game are so much stronger than the optimal kids in Fates, so by comparison...). The story is also significantly better than Fates, which I knew beforehand, but it feels good to give a shit about a newer FE game's plot and characters again. My robin is +Mag, -Str, and paired with Anna to create my adorable little Morgan -- who I made an Assassin for variety. Want to know how I beat both of the Walhart chapters? I paired myself up with my daughter and Morgan quite literally soloed the map with a Levin Sword. She killed Walhart with Lethality both times actually. Morgan is best daughter, she's just so busted. And adorable. The game is definitely pretty damn unbalanced, but I do kind of enjoy that. The characters feel like they are just overall better than most of Fates' characters -- even if they have a trope, there is a deeper character most of the time, where in Fates a deeper character was hard to find, and most of them were on the Nohr route. So far, I've had more fun in Awakening than I have in either Conquest or Revelations, and I can see how much replay value IS built into the game by default. I can see where the longtime FE vets take issue with the game, but so far I've not felt that any aspect of the game was just so egregiously bad that It spoiled my mood. I have yet to really play with Second Seal abuse, I only used it on Gaius to get make him a myrmidon before master sealing him to Assassin -- where he has been performing very, very well. His support with Nowi is pretty cute too. Overall, I think Awakening is a pretty solid game, I enjoy it. Will I ever attempt Lunatic/Lunatic+? Probably not, because I know how fucking stupid those difficulties are in this game. Do you guys have any tips for future playthroughs and for the endgame? Is it worth picking up Nah, Noire, and Batman (kids I haven't grabbed yet).
  4. Hello everyone. So I've decided to ask a question every week now. (Ok I did two this week I'm sorry...) I'm always seeking opinions on why this is good, or this is bad, and why, because we all don't share common interest/beliefs, but sometimes we do. Thus, I want to bring certain topics into the limelight every week and discuss why you think about the topic. This week, I want to ask a question, more or less the game that 'Saved the Franchise', Fire Emblem Awakening. What did you find enjoyable about the game? It could be everything, or it could only be the music, the sprites or a certain boss in the game. I don't mind, but I would like WHY (As backup evidence, it's always good to strengthen a claim.) Same thing with what you didn't like about the game. I would like One Pro, and One Con, if possible... even if it was the smallest detail. Please also keep 'arguing' to a minimum, the last question I asked, it got a little 'out of control', so please try not 'go to war' with each other. Thank you guys, and can't wait to see your opinions! (Also Sorry if I broke any rules again Mods.... I'm still not use to forum posting...)
  5. After roughly 9 months there were many main series additions that aren't event-related. Almost every series got more faces to its roster ... but almost is almost. I'm pretty one of the banners for November is going to be a special one, so it leaves space for another main series entry. The progression so far from launch: - Sacred Stones/Genealogy - Genealogy/Thracia/Binding Blade/Radiant Dawn - Blazing Blade - Shadows of Valentia - Path of Radiance - Shadows of Valentia - Mystery of the Emblem - Shadows of Valentia - Sacred Stones - Path of Radiance - Genealogy of the Holy War So far the only main series that didn't get any more faces are the newer entries, Awakening and Fates. Fates kinda cheats in that regard since we got Charlotte and Shigure in their event forms before the actual incarnation. Both games are, of course, represented often in special banners though there are some rather important characters missing. Awakening has still a lot of the original shepherds (Sumia, Maribelle, Vaike, Miriel, Ricken ... no I didn't forget someone), while Fates is missing pretty much everyone who isn't a retainer to a royal (most notably Kaze, Silas, maybe Rinkah and Flora). The ones that didn't get 'proper' banner presentation are the participants from the Sibling Bonds banner; Thracia, Binding Blade and Radiant Dawn. Noticeably, Leif and Micaiah, the protagonist of their respective games, are still missing. The latter is also quite high in CYL which begs the question of her whereabouts. What do you guys think about this? What game is going to get the spotlight?
  6. Hey, Its been a long time, since I was active (not lurking in the shadows) and recently I had the urge to go and buy one of the 3DS FE titles. If you could kindly consult me about what game I should get, that would be nice. I know, many may not like them or even hate them, but I am still asking for (if possible) objective opinions, why I should or should not get game X. Meaning a reply like "Buy game X, cuz good waifu" is something I often see on non-Serenes Forest forums with unreasonable children. PS: If I seemed rude, then I apologize. But recently, I have encountered many kids in fandoms where I also lurk around with this kind of attitude, which increases my salt-level. PPS: If there are any mistakes, english is sadly not my native language.
  7. There's an online save editor as WIP which can already duplicate, delete and share units online with other users online. It doesn't need FEAST and duplicating units doesn't wipe out your convoy.
  8. The Avatar (Robin.) Can marry anyone, so comment on who your avatar married.
  9. Alright, so i remember ShadowofChaos doing some sort of video about using a QR code to apply a code to your game. For Example, The one i'm curious about is the code that gives all active units all skills. If you do it while in the overworld map, all of the characters you recruited will have access to all skills + the lunatic+ skills. Sadly, I believe that you have to be in the 9.X firmware otherwise it won't work. My question is, has it been updated at all, preferably to the 11.3.0-36 firmware? I haven't updated my 3ds in a long time because I've been having trouble figuring out how to install homebrew and the other stuff to extract my fates save to do things with it. Any help here would be much appreciated.
  10. This is long overdue, but I'm gonna play a Hard Casual (yes, I'm dirty) of this game and want you guys to pick who I'm gonna use! The team will be a max of 10 units first and second gen and who parents who in the second gen. Avatar and Chrom are exceptions. A child does not immediately mean their parent will be used, just supporting the other in free battles.
  11. Never understood why people waifu up Tharja. I dont have a waifu and I find it odd but, out of all the awakening cast why her? She is hot but she is a horrible person and mother who caused Noire to have a split personality due to all the curses and hexes. How do you people justify that? I want to see your mental gymnastics at work. But if she is your waifu just because she is hot then whatever.
  12. Alright, so I know they're not the best FE games in the series, but they're not bad. I wanna set up this thread to appreciate those 2 games for how they are since they're always bashed by everyone all the time. Personally, I think Awakening had a not to shabby story. Dig deep enough and you can get a pretty nice plot out of it. Alongside now knowing Grima's "birth" from the backstory in SoV, we actually can get a better view of the main villain within the story. Also, the children system in the game was very well placed in the game. The children actually had a purpose in the plot and were relevant as the whole time travel thing makes sense due to why they are time traveling in the first place. Fates wasn't all too bad either. It actually fixed most of the things Awakening was missing and/or needing fixing. The main one, the battle mechanics, was something Awakening was solely needing a fix on seeing as how it was pretty easy when you can pair up but the enemy can't. Nerfing it slightly and giving that feature to the enemy was a much needed fix while also allowing for people playing the game to strategize more on the battlefield instead of just throwing out their strongest tank. And even though Fates kinda didn't have the good things that Awakening had (which we will not discuss, not here anyway), it's still a pretty neat game overall.
  13. I just finished my first play through of this game, and I'm a little confused about Falchion; is this the same Falchion Marth uses in his games, or are there two different Falchions going on here? And if there are two, why don't we hear anything about it during Awakening? That seems like the kind of information Chrom and Co. might have found useful during the events of that game.
  14. So I have a question, are there canon genders for the avatars in awakening and fates. If so what are they because I am so confused mostly about the fates canon.
  15. So I decided to just sit down and make a list of every legacy bonus character in Fire Emblem Awakening who had some kind of special property that couldn't be replicated by just any old MU or other legacy character of the same gender. There's not really a whole lot more to say than that, so here's the list! Note that I've only listed the skills the characters couldn't normally learn through reclassing/leveling up. This is not meant to contain their complete base skill sets.
  16. So first off, a little disclaimer. It has nothing to do with the topic so I'm putting it in spoilers. Alright. So I know Awakening (and Fates, but that's maybe for another time) got kind of a hard reception in the story department, and I can totally see why. We all know by now that it's not a masterpiece when it comes to the way the plot is written and/or presented to the players. But I'm not here to add salt to the injury and keep complaining on how it's "so bad". Because I know it is, I've played Awakening several times. I'm here to give a... kind of unpopular opinion, I guess. Hear what the rest of you have to say about this and maybe help some people see the story from a different perspective. Let's get straight to the point: Now don't kill me for this but I like Awakening's story, I think it's really good. Where I think the issue recides in is the way it's presented, the way it's written. So maybe many of you already came to this conclusion, but I just want to expand on it. Awakening had really nice ideas plotwise, interesting and feel-packed if I may add. It could've turned out to be such an incredible experience had they worried on how to present it. It's kind of a shame, really, that an amazing idea like that one is looked over and ignored 'cause the writing didn't do it justice. Let me go through Awakeing's first chapters of the story a little bit differently, for example. Beware as this is going to spoil this entire part of the game. Congratulations if you read all of that, and I hope that helped prove my point a little better. What I mean is, the concept of the story is so good I can't begin to explain how much I love it. It just bugs me a lot how they managed to present it so... badly. I mean, Awakening's story is the tale of a Prince, a brilliant Tactitian and their companions trying to save their kingdom in a terrible war in which many die, including (spoilers, I guess) the current ruler of their kingdom, who is also the big sister of the Prince and the symbol of peace of their lands. But it's not only that, since it's also the tale of a Princess who saw the rise and fall of her kingdom, the end of her family and her friend's parent's lives and the destruction and chaos that fell upon the land she grew up in. Is the tale of a Princess and a group of young orphans who left everything behind to travel back in time and try to save a future that would never be theirs again. I just felt like the story is sometimes ignored due to the bad writing, and that we tend to forget just how good is the story that lies behind Awakening's bad storytelling. Someone please tell me I'm not the only one.
  17. Hey everyone, Just wanted to share my newest Fire Emblem VO interview with all of you. This time, I heard from Julie Ann Taylor, who voiced Cordelia and Severa in Fire Emblem Awakening, Selena, Flora, and Caeldori in Fire Emblem Fates, and Linde in Fire Emblem Heroes. https://comedyngaming.com/news/interview-julie-anne-taylor-fire-emblems-selena She's been working in the industry since the late 80's and had lots to say about her experiences in the recording booth as well as which of her characters she relates to the most. I especially enjoyed the insights she had on voicing Severa and Cordelia, and the interview mainly focuses on those two characters in addition to their Fates "doppelgangers," She even had stuff to say about Bride Cordelia's appearance in Heroes' Bridal Blessings Banner. Hope you enjoy! It was a blast to conduct!
  18. Would a themed run in which I only use Chrom, the Tactician and a list of characters from one game be possible? Preferably the run would be an ironman, with me killing off all characters that aren't in line with my specific theme, Chrom or the Tactician. If not, would it be more realistic to pull units from each era; an NES era play through, SNES era play through, GBA era play through, etc...? Thank you for your input.
  19. Are you getting sick of dealing with the one question surrounding Awakening: "Who do I marry to whom?" Do you wish there was a program where you could just tell it what all you want from your children characters and it'll tell you which parents can give you all those things? Me too! So I wrote a program that does exactly that. The first screen is just a marriage organizer. Drag and drop characters around to marry them to each other, right-click them to see their stat growth / cap modifiers and available jobs. It'll even calculate these things for the children characters, if they have married parents. If you hit any button on your keyboard (except escape, that closes the program) it'll take you to the spreadsheet screen. The buttons at the bottom are to add a Heuristic (i.e. a Thing You Want) to search for: a class, a skill, or a minimum stat growth / cap. You'll need to pick a letter to represent each heuristic by typing it on your keyboard. In the screens to add a Class or Skill heuristic, classes or skills starting with the letter you've picked will be highlighted, so you can use that as a search function of sorts. So, for example, which combinations of parents would produce a child who: A) has access to Galeforce, B) can reclass to Dark Mage, and C) has access to vantage? These ones, highlighted in green. Cordelia with Stahl / Lon'qu / Gaius / Gregor, Tharja x Gaius, and Olivia or Lissa with Libra or Henry. And the avatar with anyone but Miriel / Panne / Cherche. And Morgan can do everything. If you've married characters together in the organizer screen, you can reduce visual clutter on the spreadsheet screen by crossing their rows or columns, or removing them altogether. I'm thinking of making a Youtube video to illustrate how to use it, but for now, here are the download links. Win x32: http://www.mediafire.com/file/psy1q6tcc0bxdk8/Matchmaker_win32.zip Win x64: http://www.mediafire.com/file/6h0rqaq3sgzs0di/Matchmaker_win64.zip (the x64 version comes with the necessary java files to run it. That makes the filesize a lot bigger, but the program is a lot more stable and you don't need java installed on your computer to run it) Tell me what you think! Or if you find any bugs.
  20. I was thinking if Kamui is related to the people of Chon'sin like Say'ri and especially Yen'fay because of their squinty eyes. Kamui is a Japanese name and the Chon'sin are based on the Japanese. Chon'sin is in Valm but I dunno where to be exact but let's say it's somewhere Kamui had disappeared in Valm (unclear if he's in Valentia or elsewhere) and settle down for some kind of desire because maybe he got tired of the good life in the kingdom that Jesse had made in Greith's territory. He might have wanted to do something for his hometown or his family. Kamui isn't the only one of his kind so it can be that Chon'sin became a country of its own that was from the hometown of Kamui and his family or the other tribe that beated his family out in the business were related to Chon'sin. If Jesse was dead, Kamui would have taken over in his place so it can be possibly located there. The place for deceased bodies of legendary swordsmen are found in Chon'sin called the Warrior's Tomb which is located by the Thieves Shrine in Gaiden. These guys are the founders of Chon'sin and Jesse, Saber, and Kamui are Mercenaries/Swordsmen and Jeese's kingdom is for Mercenaries but it's hard to make connections when Gaiden and Awakening takes place 2000 years later so when Chon'sin became a country is unclear. The small things like this or how Walhart is similar to Rudolf in what he did for the greater good, how you're able to go to Faria Port(aka Port Ferox) in Echoes and Thabest Labyrinth is between Arena Ferox makes the world feel much richer in history.
  21. Vincent sent me some scans of an overlooked interview from the June 2013 issue of Nintendo Dream for Awakening's first year anniversary (for Japan. The issue would have come out in April 2013). As far as we saw, no one had translated it in full (we may be wrong of course). I spent the weekend translating it for you all. There shouldn't be any pronoun mishaps like last time, but if you spot other mistakes in spelling or terminology (I tried to use localized terms but may have muddled a few here and there), please let me know! But it should be fine for the most part. Fun stuff to take away from it. I hope you enjoy the read! See it on the blog here! (And submit mistakes there if I don't see them here)
  22. Hi all! Just finished a fic earlier today that I posted on AO3 and so I thought I'd provide a link if anyone wants to check it out: http://archiveofourown.org/works/10962279/chapters/24403257 It's a four-parter, which is my take on the C, B, A, and S support conversations that Hector and Tharja would have in the Heroes mobile game if supports were a thing. I'm hoping to do a ton more of these fics down the road with different crack pairs, but went with my fave Heroes crack pairing first because I wanted to start off strong. Would love to hear any feedback on content, writing style, etc., or any other thoughts that y'all have. It's been ages since I've done any actual fanfiction so the help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  23. Awakening did a poor job of keeping the continuity set up by Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem, having retconned quite a bit of the lore. Examples: Medeus' revival, Lucina's ability to use the Falchion, geography, degenerating, and so forth I want to here others' takes on it, but I'll probably still debate (not in a mean way) that there is just about no continuity.
  24. I'm currently tinkering with Awakening so I would like to know how to edit growths, any help I can get is appreciated. I'm currenlty using FEAT to decompress the .bin.lz files and the Class Editor and Character Editor 1.1 modules to edit my files. I would also like to note that the Awakening Nightmare modules aren't on the resource directory, should I make that question there?
