  1. For the fourth week, we’re going to vote and discuss on the best for Leo, the ambitious dark mage. I think he looks pretty stunning in his original outfit, but it’s still interesting to imagine other options for him. Ah Leo, the best unit of all…! No, what are you talking about? I’m not biased. Anyhow, given his natural affinity towards Mag and his personal tome, it’s probably a good idea to keep him in a magical class… but who knows? Maybe he has a niche talent that’s better exploited in a physical class. The format for this post is similar as that of last week: The following spoiler tags will mostly contain information regarding Leo. I’m actually a bit behind schedule (sorry!), so I’ll be uploading the rest of the information (inc. Predicted Stats) throughout the weekend. As there’s quite a bit of information, I wouldn’t suggest reading all of it, but only looking through what you deem necessary. I’d advocate the use of Ctrl+f to target specific information. If you already know the necessary information, there’s no need to go through it; this information is here simply for your convenience. (Also, I’m only human. If there are any mistakes within the information, please tell me so that I may correct it.) Without further ado: Which is the best class for Leo? [spoiler=Information Regarding the Marriage/Buddy Seals] I’m not going to go over the really general information, since I’m pretty sure most of you know about it already. But if you have no idea what these seals are, check out the items page or this post. Anyhow… Nishiki, Flannel, Azura, and Mozume provide access to their secondary class trees, as their starting class trees are unique to them (and in some cases, their children) (The credit for the following bullet points go to Astrophys, who I copied the wording from, and the other SF members on the Marriage Seals post that clarified this issue.) If there is no primary class tree overlap between the characters, the simplest case scenario plays out: They both get each other’s primary class trees. If the characters share each other’s primary class trees, they get each other’s secondary class trees. If a spouse’s (or buddy’s) primary class tree is the same as the character’s secondary class tree, the character does not receive any new class tree. There are certain exceptions to the last rule, but they mainly involve the Avatar. If you’re still confused, let me use Leo as an example to try and clarify matters! Let’s say Leo marries Azura. Azura’s secondary class tree is Pegasus Warrior, so Leo would receive the Pegasus Warrior tree. Let’s say Leo marries Berka. There is no primary class tree overlap between the two characters, so Leo would receive the Wyvern Rider tree. Let’s say Leo marries Nyx. Both of these characters’ primary class tree is Dark Knight. Thus, Leo would receive Nyx’s secondary class tree-- Outlaw. (The vice versa would apply, in which Nyx would receive the Rod Knight tree.) Let’s say Leo marries Felicia. Leo’s secondary class tree is Rod Knight, and Felicia’s primary class tree is Rod Knight. Although Felicia also has the Mercenary tree, Leo does not receive this; he receives no new class trees from Felicia. If you have any questions, shoot me a PM or leave a reply on the original post. The Marriage Seals post did a pretty good job of explaining the complexities, so feel free to check out that thread if you’re still confused. [spoiler=Rules, Notices, & Clarifications] Rules Please be respectful! This is a huge given, but I still see people break it all the time. Don’t be arrogant-- your opinion is important, but hardly the end-all-- and please don’t be a troll. I don’t want these polls to serve only for people who have played the game. Therefore, please be careful with spoilers. As we’re discussing classes, I’m assuming that most people are fine with gameplay spoilers. However, this does not guarantee that people are fine with story spoilers as well, so if you must bring them up, make sure to tag them as spoilers. If you’re tagging story spoilers, leave an explanation. Many people may assume that you simply tagged it as a spoiler because it was a long post, or because it was related to gameplay. Clarify what exactly you’re tagging-- it doesn’t take that many words. Notices In the optional poll, Elise placed second and Nyx placed third. As such, Elise will receive three additional votes, and Nyx will receive one. Xander and Tsukuyomi only received one vote, and as such, were eliminated from this week’s optional poll. As it has been proven that the forum does not wish to discuss them at the current moment, they have a waiting period of two weeks before they will be re-entered into the optional poll. As the victor, Leo has also been removed from this week’s optional poll. Takumi and Jakob have been re-entered into the optional poll. If it is demonstrated once again that the forum is not interested in these characters, they will have a waiting period of four weeks before they will be re-entered into the optional poll. Benoit and Charlotte have been added into the optional poll. Clarification If you’re confused as to what this post is all about, refer to the original post. It is currently Week Four. Week Three polls concerned Felicia, Week Two polls concerned Silas, and Week One polls concerned Azura. We are discussing the end class for Leo. You are free to consider reclassing options along the way (just make sure to factor in the cost of reclassing for the Practicality polls), but your vote should be based on your predicted end class. We’re ignoring DLC classes; those are OP on any character. If we go through with post-release (for NA/Europe) polls, I plan to have polls regarding which characters should receive the DLC classes. Children will not be introduced until the localized game is released, or we have gone through all of the first-generation characters. We’re ignoring any class options the Avatar may give to Leo, as it introduces too many new variables. There will not be Practicality polls for the Invisible Kingdom campaign, as there’s no space on the polls for it. I limited the Optimization/Practicality poll options to the promoted classes. I figured that in order to use Leo efficiently, he should be at a promoted class than at a base class. [spoiler=Possible Classes] Classes in black are ones Leo can achieve in either the Nohr or in the Invisible Kingdom campaign. He was born on June 30th, and is the biggest fan of tomatoes. With this, the next character we are going to be discussing will be Charlotte! Since Ryoma received only one vote and Benoit received none, they will not be included in the roster for next week’s poll. Takumi will receive three extra votes, and Camilla and Elise will each receive one extra vote for next week’s poll. Forum Discussion Dark Knight Leo Leo’s growths and caps are the best as a Dark Knight. Although Leo has high Mag, he also has decent Str. Therefore, he suits a hybrid class. While Dark Knight has decent Def that allows Leo to tank some hits, it has rather low Spd. Granted, Leo can fix this problem by getting Defensive Formation, but he would have to marry Effie for it. Leo can use his personal tome as a Dark Knight. Dark Knight grants Leo high mobility. Great Knight Leo Leo has decent Str, and Great Knight builds up on that. He can also use Mag oriented weapons, such as Bolt Axe and Levin Sword. Great Knight helps Leo’s Def, and gives him decent Res, which makes him a usable tank. However, Great Knight is definitely not Leo’s recommended class. It still seems like a fun option, though. Holy Bowman Leo As a Holy Bowman, Leo can use the Shining Bow (a weapon that uses Mag), which has 13 Mt and can double. Due to his growths, he has better Res than other potential Holy Bowmans. Leo has the flexibility that not many bow users do. He can use the Mighty Bow, get his Str halved, and then simply switch over to the Shining Bow. Leo can also do this as an Adventurer, though. Revenant Knight Leo Although Leo has high Mag, he also has decent Str. Therefore, he suits a hybrid class. Leo’s growth rates struggle in Str, Skl, and Def. The Revenant Knight gives him 15% Str, and 10% Skl and Def. It also gives him 15% Mag to make his Mag even stronger. Leo can use his personal tome as a Revenant Knight. However, as a Revenant Knight, Leo will have to grind for the Axe weapon rank. This can be impractical in a non-grinding Nohr playthrough. Also, the weapon rank limit on tomes is B, and given Leo’s high Mag, this can be a bit of a waste. However, he still has access to his personal weapon, which only requires rank E. Revenant Knights grant Leo high mobility and flight. Revenant Knight gives Leo Deadly Breath, which reduces the HP of nearby enemies. This works well with his personal skill, which triggers when an enemy is not at full HP. To be a Revenant Knight, Leo would have to marry either Berka. Berka would lower Leo's Spd cap to -3. Also, she doesn't do much for Foleo’s Mag cap, and Felicia or Nyx may be better marriage candidates. However, Foleo doesn’t need to focus too heavily on Spd if he’s a support unit. Also, Foleo can A+ support with Ignis for Defensive Formation. Sorcerer Leo Although Leo has higher than average Str growth as a Mag-oriented unit, his Str is still fairly weak. Additionally, he has a -2 Str cap, which can reflect poorly on an optimized unit that uses Str. Leo can hit hard as a Sorcerer (37 Mag), and he has better Spd and Res in this class. Sorcerer allows Leo to go up to an S rank with tomes, and he can maximize his attack power. Leo can use the Nosferatu tome as a Sorcerer. Even with the nerf, this tome is fairly powerful. However, he can also use this tome in other classes, as it’s simply a D rank tome. Despite its nerf, Leo is actually a suitable candidate for Nosferatu. First, he’s fairly slow, so he won’t be doubling too much in the first place (and not at all if he married Effie for Defensive Formation). Second, he has decent HP and Def and doesn’t rely on dodge tanking, so the Avoid -20 doesn’t hurt him as much. Strategist Leo In a Lunatic runthrough, Leo could serve as a healer. If he stays as a Dark Knight for a while before reclassing, his Def may be high enough to allow him to be a front line healer. Even though the weapon rank limit on tomes is B, he can still access his personal weapon. Additionally, his high Mag allows him to do some fancy staffwork.
  2. For the third week, we’re going to vote and discuss on the best class for Felicia, the clumsy maid. She’s quite renowned for her fighting skills, so shall we take a look at that? One of the reasons Felicia has more flexibility in class choices is due to her fairly strong Mag, which allows her to either serve as a healer or as a magic user. However, there’s a special Hidden Weapon for Felicia that basically serves as a Levin Sword-- its damage is dependent on Mag. With that in mind, maybe Felicia has some hopes for a purely physical class as well! The format for this post is similar as that of last week: The following spoiler tags will mostly contain information regarding Felicia. For this week, I’ve added the Pair Up bonuses Felicia provides within each class, and modified the Predicted Stats for level 20, 30, and 40. As there’s quite a bit of information, I wouldn’t suggest reading all of it, but only looking through what you deem necessary. I’d advocate the use of Ctrl+f to target specific information. Also, a lot of information is shown through attachments, so you'll have to click on it to be able to read the text. If you already know the necessary information, there’s no need to go through it; this information is here simply for your convenience. (Also, I’m only human. Upcoming Character Leo (11.36%) [5+3 votes] Elise (13.64%) [6 votes] Nyx (9.09%) [4+1 votes] (Leo placed ahead of Elise because he got three additional votes from placing second last week.) With this, the next character we are going to be discussing will be Leo! ...As you might have already seen, ahaha. Xander and Tsukuyomi each received only one vote, and will therefore not be included in the roster for next week’s poll. Elise and Nyx will “receive” extra votes (three and one respectively) for next week’s poll. Forum Discussion Adventurer Felicia Felicia can equip the Shining Bow, which allows her to utilize her Mag to attack. The Shining Bow does not allow Felicia to inflict critical hits. However, while Felicia’s Lck is high, her Skl is low; she would not have been scoring that many criticals in the first place. The weapon also has fairly high Mt, and can be very powerful in Felicia’s hands. The weapon has a fairly low Hit Rate and inflicts -20 Avoid, but Lucky Seven can fix these problems. Adventurer allows Felicia to continue using staves. This is useful, as Felicia will probably have a high staff level from her initial class. Exorcist Felicia Exorcist provides Felicia with high Mag and Skl growth (the former capitalizes on her strength, and the latter fixes her weakness). It gives her the ability to use magical weapons. Exorcist allows Felicia to continue using staves. This is useful, as Felicia will probably have a high staff level from her initial class. If Felicia can run through Strategist, Felicia can be a great support unit with Rally Magic/Resistance, Battle Command, Demoiselle, and great staff usage. As a support unit, Felicia will mostly be in the back. Therefore, she does not have to worry about Exorcist’s low Def. Exorcist has the skill Fortune. Since Felicia has great Lck, she can get good bonus EXP out of this skill. Maid Felicia Felicia has poor Str, which makes her inept in this class. Felicia’s Ice Tray allows her to utilize her Mag to attack, but this weapon is hard to come by, and it’s not terribly strong. Also, Felicia’s Ice Tray is not unique to her, and it may be more useful on other characters. Aside from her Ice Tray, Felicia can also use Explosive Shurikens to utilize her Mag. This weapon has stronger Mt, and improves Felicia’s damage output. However, Explosive Shurikens have -20 Avoid. Since Felicia wants to avoid attacks (with her weak Def), this may not be the most useful weapon. Maid has an S-rank in staves. This allows Felicia to use the Bifrost Staff during PvP matches, which revives a dead unit. Felicia has access to many self-healing skills (Sol, Servant’s Joy, Stubbornness), so she can be somewhat of a battle cleric. She’ll be able to assist people on the front lines while taking a couple of hits. Although Felicia has poor Skl, Sol has a relatively high proc rate. Additionally, her Lck is very high, which allows Stubbornness to activate frequently. Sorcerer Felicia Although Sorcerer helps Felicia’s Mag, it provides such poor support for Felicia’s weak Skl. Strategist Felicia Strategist does not help Felicia’s weak Skl. However, this could be fixed if Felicia first raises her Skl sufficiently in Maid and then reclasses into Strategist. Strategist heavily emphasizes Felicia’s strengths and the cost of leaving her weaknesses very prominent. However, she can play the part of a support unit and sit safely at the back. Due to Felicia’s high Lck growth, she may cap out on it. Compared to other classes, Strategist has a high Lck cap. Although Felicia has low Def, she has high Lck and decent Spd. Therefore, with certain breaker skills, she can dodge most attacks in the early game. Strategist grants Felicia good movement, which allows her to assist other units and run away from danger.
  3. Hey Guys. I'm pretty new to the concept of 'breeding' children for optimal stats and skills and wanted to give it a go during my FEF: Invisible Kingdom run through. I have already calculated the max stats and growth rates for each child as the result of each pairing available to the father or mother in Azura's case. This is where things begin to get a little confusing for me. How do you determine which mother is the best for what child? Is it more preferable to balance the child units stats or polarise them towards having higher stats in some areas (i.e. a +6 in DEF or a +7 in STR, etc)? Then, going on from the stats, how do you determine which of their available class sets would complement them the best? I understand how skill inheritance, class inheritance and seals work and have not gotten around to considering the best options in depth for the child units yet. If anybody would like to use Shinonome as an example to explain how to determine who the best mother is l have provided all of the stats from each pairing below. (The stats next to Shinonome's name are Ryoma's stats). Ignore the colours, they are for my own reference. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
  4. For the second week, we’re going to vote and discuss on the best class for Silas, who beat out his competitors with ease. Guess everyone has a soft spot for the childhood friend, hm? Unlike our previous contestant and her unique class, Silas starts out as a Cavalier. In the Hoshido campaign, this tree can prove to be quite rare nonetheless, as it’s a Nohrian class. However, in the Nohr campaign, Pieri joins as a fellow Cavalier (and even further on, Xander joins as a Paladin). I wonder if this competition could affect Silas’s end class for Practicality polls. The format for this post is similar as that of last week: the following spoiler tags will mostly contain information regarding Silas. For this week, I’ve added a short comparison between Silas and Pieri, and Silas’s predicted stats by promoted levels 10 and 40 according to his growth rates (the mechanics for how I calculated these stats can be found within the spoiler tag). If there are any mistakes within the information, please tell me so that I may correct it.) Without further ado: Which is the best class for Silas? [spoiler=Information Regarding the Marriage/Buddy Seals] I’m not actually going to go over the really general information, since I’m pretty sure most of you know about it already. But if you have no idea what these seals are, check out the items page or this post. Anyhow… Nishiki, Flannel, Azura, and Mozume provide access to their secondary class trees, as their starting class trees are unique to them (and in some cases, their children). (The credit for the following bullet points go to Astrophys, who I copied the wording from, and the other SF members on the Marriage Seals post that clarified this issue.) If there is no primary class tree overlap between the characters, the simplest case scenario plays out: they both get each other’s primary class trees. If the characters share each other’s primary class trees, they get each other’s secondary class trees. If a spouse’s (or buddy’s) primary class tree is the same as the character’s secondary class tree, the character does not receive any class tree. There are certain exceptions to the last rule, but they mainly involve the Avatar. If you’re still confused, let me use Silas as an example to try and clarify matters! Let’s say Silas marries Azura. Azura’s secondary class tree is Pegasus Warrior, so Silas would receive the Pegasus Warrior tree. Let’s say Silas marries Felicia. There is no primary class overlap between the two characters, so Silas would receive the Rod Knight tree. Let’s say Silas marries Pieri. Both of these characters’ primary class tree is Cavalier. Thus, Silas would receive Pieri’s secondary class tree-- Dark Mage. (The vice versa would apply, in which Pieri would receive the Mercenary tree.) Let’s say Silas marries Luna. Silas’s secondary class tree is Mercenary, and Luna’s primary class tree is Mercenary. Although Luna also has the Pegasus Warrior tree, Silas does not receive this; he receives no new class trees from Luna. Notices Felicia placed second in the optional poll, and Ryoma placed third. As such, Felicia will receive three additional votes, and Ryoma will receive one. Takumi and Joker received zero votes, and as such, were eliminated from this week’s optional poll. As it has been proven that the forum does not wish to discuss them at the current moment, they have a waiting period of two weeks before they will be re-entered into the optional poll. As the victor, Silas has also been removed from this week’s optional poll. The three characters have been replaced by Nishiki, Rinkah, and Nyx. Clarification If you’re confused as to what this post is all about, refer to the original post. It is currently Week Two, and Week One polls concerned Azura. We are discussing the end class for Silas. Children will not be introduced until after the game is released, or we have gone through all of the first-generation units. We’re also ignoring any class options the Avatar may give to Silas. It introduces too many new variables. There will not be Practicality polls for the Third Route. There’s simply no space on the polls for it. I limited the Optimization/Practicality poll options to the promoted classes. I figured that in order to use Silas efficiently, he should be at a promoted class than at a base class. I had to forgo the neutral option for the Preference poll because the max limit of options is 40, and Silas has access to 40 classes. And here I thought Azura's 35 was astounding... Sorry for posting this on Sunday instead of Saturday! My clock runs three hours slow, so I hadn't realized that the day had passed. Profile, Recruitment Conditions, Base Stats))] Profile Silas is a fledgling Nohrian knight. He was born into a noble family, and during his childhood, he played together with the Avatar, his best friend. Despite his kind nature and camaraderie, he’s an exceptionally skilled knight for his age. He was born on November 1st, and has the curliest hair. Recruitment Conditions In the Hoshido campaign, Silas joins at the end of Chapter 7. In the Nohr campaign, Silas joins at the start of Turn 3 of Chapter 7. In the Third Path, Silas joins at the end of Chapter 14. Base Stats * *Refer to “Predicted Stats” for the calculation behind the Lvl. 10 stats. [spoiler=Maximum Stats] As I figured you only need this data for Optimization/Practicality polls, I only calculated the values for the promoted classes. The blue boxes represent the highest stat of the class, while the red boxes indicate the lowest. For classes that had more than one highest/lowest stat (e.g. Falcon Warrior with 34-34-34 and 27-27), I didn’t color the boxes. Silas adds +1 Str, +2 Skl, -1 Lck, and -1 Res. (If you can’t decipher the text on the attachments, use the Magnifying Glass to your advantage!) [spoiler=Growth Rates] The first chart shows Silas’s natural growths and his growths as a Cavalier. The second chart shows the values of Silas's growth for different classes. As I figured you only need this data for Optimization/Practicality polls, I only calculated the values for the promoted classes. The blue boxes represent the highest growth rate of the class, while the red boxes indicate the lowest. For classes that had more than one highest/lowest growth rate (e.g. Paladin with 60-60), I didn’t color the boxes. (If you can’t decipher the text on the attachments, use the Magnifying Glass to your advantage!) [spoiler=Predicted Stats] There are two charts for predicted stats. The first indicates the estimated stats at promoted level 10, and the second indicates the estimated stats at promoted level 40. As I figured you only need this data for Optimization/Practicality polls, I only calculated the values for the promoted classes. The blue boxes represent the highest stat of the stat (e.g. Berserker had the highest Str stat of 31, so that box was highlighted in blue), while the red boxes indicate the lowest. For stats that didn’t have a clear high or low, I didn’t color the boxes (e.g. Mag). The green boxes represent capped stats. Mechanics The calculation behind the estimates are pretty simple. I feel that it works out well, but if you feel that the mechanics are wrong, feel free to tell me! I made these estimates based on the assumption that a Master Seal would be used at Lvl. 10, which would reset the level back to Lvl. 1. Obviously, these aren’t going to be the most accurate estimates as Silas cannot directly Master Seal into some classes. I’m also aware that not many people will Master Seal right at Lvl. 10, but during the earlier level-ups, Silas’s stats aren’t too different based on the classes. (The first two classes, Basara and Berserker, have fairly similar stats at Lvl. 10 despite one being a balanced class and the other being a specialized one.) These differences only become apparent later on, so for a really rough estimate of the base stats at higher levels than Lvl. 10, you can assume the Promoted Lvl. 10 is equivalent to Base Lvl. 20. (Emphasis is still on “really rough estimate,” though.) *All decimal values were rounded down. If a stat exceeded the class’s max stat, it was rounded down to it.* Expected Stats @ Base Lvl. 10: [base Stats] + 4 * [Growth Rate of Class]/100 Expected Stats @ Promoted Lvl. 10: [Expected Stats @ Base Lvl. 10] + 10 * [Growth Rate of Class]/100 Expected Stats @ Promoted Lvl. 40: [Expected Stats @ Base Lvl. 10] + 40 * [Growth Rate of Class]/100 [spoiler=Possible Skills] (Credit goes to the SF staff, as all of this was taken from the main website.) The blue boxes indicate the higher stat between the two characters, and the red boxes indicate the lower. Silas is bulkier, and has greater Skl. Two of the Cavalier tree’s arguably better skills, Aegis and Luna, are dependent on Skl activation. Pieri is quicker, and has greater Res. She’s not quick enough to double everything, but she could probably serve as an efficient mage killer. Silas’s personal skill and Pieri’s personal skill provide boosts under certain circumstances. Pieri’s conditions are a bit more difficult to meet, but her skill provides better boosts than Silas’s does. Silas has Mercenary as his secondary class tree. This can be a useful tree for Silas, as the class is still physically-oriented and provides high Skill. On the other hand, Pieri has Dark Mage as her secondary class tree. Although her Resistance is high, her base Mag stat is a sad 0, and her Mag growth is simply 5. Thus, it would be easier to reclass and train Silas than it would be to reclass and train Pieri. Silas can marry every single female in the game, which gives him more class options. He also joins early on in the story, so it’s easier to establish various supports with him. (I only stated points that were very obvious and left the rest unsaid. There’s bound to be more differences between the two.) [spoiler=Summary] It’s a bit interesting that all three classes were the same throughout the four polls. I suppose this really shows you that the forum has concluded on Silas’s three best classes. Here are the results: Optimal Class Paladin (28.57%) Brave Hero (25.71%) Great Knight (17.14%) Most Practical Class (Hoshido) Paladin (45.71%) Great Knight (31.43%) Brave Hero (8.57%) Most Practical Class (Nohr) Paladin (31.43%) Great Knight (28.57%) Brave Hero (22.86%) Preferred Class Paladin (45.71%) Brave Hero (14.29%) Great Knight (11.43%) Upcoming Character Felicia (17.14%) [6+3 votes] Leo (17.14%) [6 votes] Nyx (14.29%) (Felicia placed ahead of Leo because she got three additional votes from placing second last week.) With this, the next character we are going to be discussing will be Felicia! Sakura did not receive a single vote, she will not be included in the roster for next week’s poll. Leo and Nyx will “receive” extra votes (three and one respectively) for next week’s poll. Forum Discussion Basara Silas Silas’s Mag growth is too low, but grinding allows him to max out the stat. Basara has high max stats, which Silas could take advantage of if he’s grinding. Brave Hero Silas Silas’s strong stat is Skl, and Brave Hero gives him a higher Skl cap. The class gives him better proc rates, which would serve especially useful for Sol. With some defensive skills and Brave Hero’s decent Def stat, Silas could hold his own. General Silas Silas has a decent Def growth that helps him serve as a tank. And General is the best class for Def. General also provides Pavise, which allows Silas to run PavGis. Silas’s Spd growth isn’t the best, and Defensive Formation counters that problem. Once the Avatar’s HP drops beneath 50%, Silas could serve as the Avatar’s tank. This would be beneficial as it would keep the Avatar’s health below 50% (which would provide Silas a boost from his personal skill) and keep the Avatar alive. Great Knight Silas The Hoshido campaign lacks good tanks, and GK gives Silas the highest Def. It also provides Diamond Strike, which reduces damage received by 10 when Silas initiate the battle. Although Paladin gives Silas slightly better Res growth, Silas’s Res growth might be too weak and it may be better to focus on his other strengths instead. The Nohr campaign has Xander, who joins as a Paladin. Having two Paladins could be a bit repetitive, so Silas is better off as a GK. Great Knight provides access to Luna, and Silas has high Skl. Holy Bowman Silas The Hoshido campaign has a lot of archers, but the Nohr campaign does not, so Silas could be useful on the latter route. Due to his decent Def growth, Silas could serve as a “front line” archer. While the Berserker class could also make Silas a front line archer, it reduces his Def. Additionally, Holy Bowman provides Silas with one of the highest Skl cap, and Silas’s best stat is Skl. The Short Bow turns Silas into a literal front line archer with a range of 1. Silas has access to tanky skills that could help his survivability (e.g. Stubbornness, Sol, Guard Stance, Aegis). If Silas Buddy Seals with Kaze for Copycat Puppet, he can keep the puppet in the back to be healed so that he can withstand the onslaught better in the front. If the player uses this strategy for squishy units as well, this might not work out as well. Paladin Silas The Hoshido campaign lacks good tanks, and Paladin provides him with sufficient HP and Def to serve as a tank. It also gives him better Res and Mov, and access to (the defensive skill) Aegis. The class gives Silas enough Str to hurt most enemies, and enough Spd to reliably double most enemies and avoid getting doubled. The Paladin class is a balanced class that doesn’t really excel in one particular stat. Silas is a “jack of all trades, master of none” character whose stats line up with that of the Paladin class. Puppeteer Silas The class provides Silas with better Res growth, and a lot of Skl for proc’ing some of the skills Silas has natural access to (e.g. Sol, Luna). Although Silas will have to build new weapon levels, Luna procs will help the low weapon MT. Additionally, low-level support bows and kunai will provide him with support/utility benefits. The Hoshido campaign lacks good tanks, and Copycat Puppet allows Silas to serve as two tanks. Builds/Routes There’s only one build, which is for the Holy Bowman class. That was due to my request. Thanks for that! (You can find Xylaugheon Daily’s build as well on this thread. I didn’t include it on here simply to stay consistent with the clarifications I set up, which state that we won’t be considering the classes the Avatar can give to the character. I recommend checking it out, although you’ll have to buy skills for Silas in order to achieve the build.) Builds are more or less copied and pasted from their creators, although I did take a bit of liberty with changing the format. The credit obviously goes to them, and while it’s easy enough to scroll down the page to find them, I thought it might be a bit more convenient to have them here with the rest of the information. If you have a problem with me using your builds, just send me a PM or leave a response on this post. 6. It's just as the title says! For the first week, we're going to start out simple and vote on the best class for our deuteragonist Azura. I'm pretty sure many people are attached to the notion of keeping Azura as a Singer, but I'd suggest considering the other choices as well! Due to Azura's sheer number of potential partners, she does have an extensive list of possible classes. The following spoiler tags will mostly contain information regarding Azura. As there's quite a bit of information, I wouldn't suggest reading all of it, but only looking through what you deem necessary. I'd advocate the use of Ctrl+F to target specific information. Let’s say Hinoka marries Nishiki. Nishiki’s secondary class tree is Spellcaster, so Hinoka would receive the Spellcaster class tree. Let’s say Hinoka marries Subaki. Both of these characters’ primary class tree is Pegasus Warrior. Thus, Hinoka would receive Subaki’s secondary class tree-- Samurai. (The vice versa would apply, in which Subaki would receive the Lance Fighter class tree.) Let’s say Azura marries Subaki. Azura’s secondary class tree is Pegasus Warrior, and Subaki’s primary class tree is Pegasus Warrior. Although Subaki also has the Samurai class tree, Azura does not receive this; she receives no new class trees from Subaki. If you have any questions, I would prefer that you either PM me or create a reply on the original post, as I don’t want to clog up a character post with general questions. The Marriage Seals post did a pretty good job of explaining the complexities, so feel free to check out that thread if you’re still confused. [spoiler=Rules/Notices + Clarifications]I don’t like rules, so I’ll simply have two for now: Please be respectful! This is a huge given, but I still see people break it all the time. Don’t be arrogant-- your opinion is important, but hardly the end-all-- and please don’t be a troll. I don’t want these polls to be only for people who have played the game. Therefore, please be careful with spoilers. As we’re discussing classes, I’m assuming most people are fine with gameplay spoilers. However, this does not mean that people are fine with story spoilers, so if you must bring them up, make sure to tag them as spoilers. On a side note, don’t leave story spoilers under the spoiler tag without any explanation. Many people may assume you just tagged it because it was a long post, or because it was a gameplay related spoiler. Clarify what exactly you’re tagging-- it doesn’t take that many words. If you’re confused as to what this post is all about, refer to the original post. Just to clarify: we are discussing the end class for Azura. You are free to consider reclassing options along the way (just make sure to factor in the cost of reclassing for the Practicality polls), but your vote should be based on your predicted end class. We’re ignoring DLC classes; those are OP on any character. We’re also ignoring any class options the Avatar may give to Azura. It introduces too many new variables. There will not be Practicality polls for the Third Route. This is simply because there is no space for it; while there may be an extra poll for Azura, when we get to two characters, we won’t have that luxury. Nevertheless, I’d more than welcome discussions regarding the Third Path; just make sure to keep certain details under the spoiler tag. I limited the Optimization/Practicality poll options to the promoted classes (and Singer). I figured that in order to use Azura efficiently, she should be at a promoted class than at a base class. Profile, Recruitment Conditions, Base Stats)]Profile Azura is a princess of Nohr who was raised by the Hoshidans. Similarly to the Avatar’s plight, she was also taken from Nohr at an early age. Although she can get slightly emotional, she is kindhearted and knowledgable. During battles, she sings to help allies. She was born on March 3rd, and has the worst bed hair. Recruitment Conditions On the Hoshido campaign, Azura joins in Chapter 6. On the Nohr campaign, Azura joins in Chapter 9. On the Third Path, Azura joins in Chapter 6. Base Stats As you can see, this is simply from the base stats page. [spoiler=Maximum Stats]As I figured you only need this data for Optimization/Practicality polls, I only calculated the values for the promoted classes. The blue boxes represent the highest stat, while the red boxes indicate the lowest. For classes that had more than one highest/lowest stat (e.g. Golden-Kite Warrior with 34-34-34), I didn’t color the boxes. Azura adds +1 Skl, +3 Spd, and -3 Def to the class Maximum Stats. (Apologies for the split attachments! I was afraid the text would be difficult to decipher had it been kept as one. The attachments are best viewed at 100% Zoom.) [spoiler=Growth Rates] As you can see, this is simply from the growth rates page. As I figured you only need this data for Optimization/Practicality polls, I only calculated the values for the promoted classes. The blue boxes represent the highest GR, while the red boxes indicate the lowest. For classes that had more than one highest/lowest GR (e.g. Basara with 70-70, Paladin with 25-25), I didn’t color the boxes. (Apologies for the split attachments! I was afraid the text would be difficult to decipher had it been kept as one. The attachments are best viewed at 100% Zoom.) [spoiler=Possible Skills](Credit goes to the SF staff, as all of this was taken from the main website.) Personal Skill: Healing Voice: Allies within a 2-tile radius recover 10% HP at the start of the user’s turn Skills are organized alphabetically based on the classes. Within the classes, skills are listed in the order of achievement (e.g. a GK earns Luna at Lvl. 5 and Diamond Strike at Lvl. 15, so Luna is listed before Diamond Strike). Base class skills are listed before promoted class skills. Descriptions of skills Azura can acquire through her primary and secondary classes are listed below. Description of all the skills are located on the skills pages. Skills in red are ones Azura can only achieve through the Hoshido campaign. Skills in black are ones Azura can only achieve through the Nohr campaign. Skills in blue are ones Azura can achieve in either campaign (or in the Third Path). Nevertheless, here are the results: Optimal Class Singer (66.67%) Unknown (15.56%) Golden-Kite Warrior (4.44%) Most Practical Class (Hoshido) Singer (80.00%) Falcon Warrior (6.67%) Unavailable (4.44%) Most Practical Class (Nohr) Singer (82.22%) Falcon Warrior (4.44%) The third place was a tie among multiple classes, but that was only because it took only one vote for the position. Preferred Class Singer (80.00%) Unavailable (6.67%) The third place was a tie among multiple classes, but that was only because it took only one vote for the position. Upcoming Character Silas (26.67%) Felicia (13.33%) Ryoma (8.89%) (The choice “I don’t really care.” was not taken into consideration, as it simply indicates that people are fine with whichever character.) With this, the next character we are going to be discussing will be Silas! I haven’t really seen much discussion involving Silas (or my lurking skills could have failed me), so I’m actually a bit curious on what the forum will say. Characters that did not get a single vote on the optional poll will not be included in the roster for next week’s optional poll. In this scenario, that would be Takumi and Jakob. (Huh, I thought they were fairly popular characters.) However, characters that placed second or third will “receive” extra votes (three and one respectively). So next week, if Ryoma places first but Felicia places behind in second by only one vote, Felicia will be voted on the following week instead of Ryoma. Forum Discussion Basara Azura Azura has high stats in this class. (Granted, Basara has high stats in general.) Early access to Spellcaster’s Fortune would help Azura rapidly level up and surpass other units. Azura doesn’t have the highest Lck growth (40%), but this still grants her a ⅖ chance of gaining double experience. Azura can only achieve the Spellcaster tree from Nishiki or Tsukuyomi, so she’ll have to forgo the skill Copycat Puppet if she chooses this class. Falcon Warrior Azura Azura has a fairly high Mag growth that allows for staffwork. Azura’s biggest asset is Spd, and Falcon Warrior is the best way to capitalize on it. If Azura marries a Ninja and gets Copycat Puppet, she’d be doubling most enemies twice. Singer Azura Singer is unique to Azura, and should thus be delegated to her. Singing is an invaluable tool. Azura can grab a variety of support skills, which helps her be an efficient support unit. Azura can get “free” EXP through singing. This is valuable in the Nohr campaign where EXP is limited. A drawback to this class is its low HP cap and a meager weapon rank cap of C in Lances. Copycat Puppet is not as valuable a skill for Singer Azura, for puppets cannot sing. The value of singing can vary among different players. Singing may be useful only during early to mid game for some players, while others may find it invaluable throughout the whole game. War Priestess Azura Azura has a fairly high Mag growth that allows for staffwork. Azura’s high growths in Str, Skl, and Spd carry her through, and War Priestess gives her added Lck. War Priestess adds onto HP and Res growth, which makes her a brutal mage counter. The weapon, yumi, allows her to keep her distance from melee attacks. Azura has very low Def (and HP) but high Spd/Skl, so she should rely on dodging rather than tanking. Her RES (growth of 35%), however, is decent, so she can face mages. However, she does not seem like a solid magic tank. Given her vulnerability, it may be a risky move for her to use Copycat Puppet. Although the rules state that DLC classes should not be taken into consideration, I found it interesting that someone brought up the possibility of warping Azura right next to a unit and singing. Builds/Routes Builds are more or less copied and pasted from their creators, although I did take a bit liberty with changing the format. The credit obviously goes to them, and while it’s easy enough to scroll down the page to find them, I thought it might be a bit more convenient to have them here with the rest of the information. If you have a problem with me using your builds, just send me a PM or leave a response of this post. [spoiler=Singer Azura (Hoshido)] Singer Azura (Hoshido) <Credit goes to Sire.> Marriage Seal: Jakob Buddy Seal: Any Class: Singer Main Weapon 1: Guard Naginata (grants +5 Def and Res) Skills: *Healing Voice* Allies within a 2-tile radius recover 10% HP at the start of the user’s turn Special Song (Singer, Azura Base) Skill, Speed, and Luck +3 for one turn for the unit who receives the user’s song Demoiselle (Rod Knight, Elise Buddy Seal) Male allies within a 2-tile radius receive 2 less damage during battles Battle Command (Strategist, Elise Buddy Seal) Allies within a 2-tile radius deal 2 extra damage and receive 2 less damage during battles Sun God (Golden-Kite Warrior, Azura Reclass) Allies within a 2-tile radius recover 20% HP at the start of the user’s turn Optional Skill Throw a skill of your choice here! Optional Skills: Voice of Peace (Singer, Azura Base) Enemies within a 2-tile radius deal 2 less damage A/N: Azura should be playing a support role, and while she should be near the front lines, she should not be exposed to danger. However, given the somewhat poor synergy available for the Singer class and its skills, Voice of Peace can be used to give Azura a small Defence and Resistance boost. The benefit to her allies is just the icing on the cake. Foreign Princess (Singer, Azura Base) Foreign Army enemies within a 2-tile radius deal 2 less damage and receive 2 extra damage A/N: Swap this one in if you happen to be facing Foreign Army enemies. Otherwise, have something else. Soar (Golden-Kite Warrior, Azura Reclass) Hit Rate and Avoid +30 when facing flying enemies A/N: This is an optional skill to take advantage of the Avoid +30 for survivability. Even if Azura is properly protected, she still may be exposed to fliers, and this ability helps keep Azura alive. Reasoning I am giving Azura a defensive weapon as she is not meant to be a front line attacker; instead, I am electing to let her sing and allow her allies do the work. As for skills, as Azura is aiming to remain as a Singer, it can be rather obvious to keep the Special Song skill which improves her singing ability. For the rest, I focused on auras so that Azura can continue to support her allies. I also focused on skills that would help Azura survive easier, given her low HP cap and penalties to Def. Optional Skills: Demoiselle (Rod Knight, Elise Buddy Seal) Male allies within a 2-tile radius receive 2 less damage during battles A/N: If you happen to be fielding a lot of male frontline units, then Demoiselle can be a good choice to use to increase their defenses. Foreign Princess (Singer, Azura Base) Foreign Army enemies within a 2-tile radius deal 2 less damage and receive 2 extra damage A/N: Swap this one in if you happen to be facing Foreign Army enemies. Otherwise, have something else. Axebreaker or Kunaibreaker (Hero or Bow Knight, Lazward Marriage Seal) Hit Rate and Avoid +50 when the enemy is equipped with an (Axe or Kunai) A/N: If you are a fan of -breaker skills, Azura can equip these two thanks to the marriage seal from Lazward. These skills can help Azura a little with offense and survivability. Personally, I would probably choose Kunaibreaker due to the weapons’ 1-2 range, and would have Azura wield a sword, which beats axes (and bows) but is weak to kunai (and lances). Reasoning Sharing many of the skills from my Nohr Singer build, this set allows Azura to be on the frontlines while supporting her allies more directly with auras and DPS instead of singing. Special Song is replaced with Sol for survivability (and she will not be singing as a Hero anyway). Battle Command and Sun God return to serve as auras, and now since Azura is a frontline unit, Voice of Peace is also a good additiona to her skillset over Demoiselle. This build requires a lot more investment than the previous one due to the scattered skillsets, and the effort to transform Azura into a frontline fighter instead of a support unit. However, it’s probably still a fun build to use when messing around during “postgame.” [spoiler=Falcon Warrior Azura (Either)] Falcon Warrior Azura (Either) <Credit goes to Tamarsamar> Marriage Seal: Kaze (Either)/Saizou (Hoshido) Class: Falcon Warrior Singer 25 -> Elite Ninja 13 (Lethality, Ninja base skills) -> Puppeteer 15 (Copycat Puppet) -> Golden-Kite Warrior 19 -> Falcon Warrior

  8. Would anyone be interested in participating in weekly polls to determine the best class for each character? Each Saturday, we'd vote on the best class of one or more characters. I know the word "best" is quite vague, so there would be three types of polls-- optimization, practicality, and preference. While I understand that people have already started discussing class options for various characters, I feel like it would be nice to have more organized discussions. Additionally, this could serve as a semi-countdown for the NA release date, as weekly polls would be finished before then. It could also be a point of reference for new (or old) players, as I plan to conclude the polls each Friday by summarizing the main points brought up on the topic. As I'm sure many of you detest chunks of text, all other relevant information is hidden under various spoiler tags, so feel free to take a look at them if you're interested. Regardless of your stance on these polls, please vote on the topic poll so that I can judge SF's overall disposition toward this project. Thank you for reading! [spoiler=Types of Polls]The first type of polls would be based on optimization, in which you would ignore the limited experience, money, seals, etc. and choose the class that would best bring out the character's full potential. The second type of polls would be based on practicality, in which you would consider the limitations and circumstances surrounding the character. There would likely be two polls of this type for shared characters-- one for Birthright (Hoshido), and one for Conquest (Nohr). The third type of polls would be based on preference, in which you simply choose the class that you best like for the character. This class could be based on aesthetic, originality, hilarity, etc. If you're still confused, feel free to jump over to Further Clarification, in which I use Leo as an example to walk through the polls. [spoiler=Further Clarification]The topic states “Best Class for Leo,” and the first poll asks me to choose Leo’s optimal class. I recall that he uses a legendary tome, and that he has a Mag modifier of +2. While he does have some physical attributes, I feel that Sorcerer is the optimal class for Leo, as it gives him an S rank in Tomes and has a higher Mag cap. Thus, I choose “Sorcerer” on the first poll, and move onto the next one. The next poll asks me to consider practicality, and I realize that Leo is recruited on Chapter 14. However, Nyx comes in on Chapter 9, and with a Personal Skill that’s essentially a magical Counter. Given her availability and her affinity towards Mag, I decide that Nyx is the more practical Sorcerer. Meanwhile, I want to maintain diversity and flexibility on my team, and Leo’s a more than decent Dark Knight. Additionally, if I leave him in his starting class, I don’t have to use a seal on him, which saves up on resources. Therefore, I decide to leave him as a Dark Knight, and choose “Dark Knight” on the second poll. The final poll asks me for preference, and I immediately choose “Butler” without a single moment of hesitation. After all, what’s better than demoting a proud prince to a mere servant? (Please note that this is simply an example, and not a reflection of my actual opinions or an assertion that these are the “right” or “canon” classes for Leo. Also, these arguments are very simple, and hardly cover the wide range of variables that could be considered in selecting the best class. Since these polls are referring to end classes, you're free to consider possible skills you'd pick up by reclassing. Just remember to factor in the resource cost of reclassing for the second type of polls.) [spoiler=List of Classes]For the first and third type of polls, the list of classes will include all of the character’s potential classes-- including ones that could be achieved from Buddy Seals and Marriage Seals. (Of course, if I don’t have the available information, such as which units can A+ support each other, I won’t add it in.) However, the second type of polls will only include the character’s original and alternative base classes and their respective promotions. There will be an “Other” option, but… I’d suggest only choosing that if you truly feel that the character’s given classes suit them horribly. (Please note that the maximum options per poll is 20, and that I will be working within that range. Therefore, if a character has more than 20 potential classes (e.g. Avatar), I will only list the base classes.) [spoiler=Miscellaneous]If SF is onboard with this idea, the first weekly polls will be posted on next Saturday-- 7/11. Along with the polls, I’ll include some basic information about the unit(s) in question. For instance, there will probably be a table (or some semblance of one) that shows the unit’s max stats or growth rates for his/her different classes. Recruitment chapters and profiles are a given, but they’ll probably be copy and pasted from the main SF website. I do have a tentative schedule on which character’s classes we’d be voting on each week. However, I’d like to adjust to the forum’s tastes. So once the main characters are finished, I’ll probably have a fifth poll that asks “Which character(s) do you want to vote on next week?” and change the schedule accordingly. Admittedly, I may not be the best candidate for this type of project, but I haven't seen anyone take the initiative... and I'm a huge sucker for these types of posts.
  9. So I'm very confused on how Seals work in Fates, what does the parallel seal do? And is it true that when you promote to a second tier class, you can't move back down? And with parallel seals, if your level stays the same, wouldn't that mean that when you reach level 20, you can't raise your stats any higher? Any help would be appreciated!
  10. I have been following this link (http://feuniverse.us/t/repointing-tutorial/584) for trying to repoint/expand, but I have been running into problems. I do not know how to find addresses of the tables (items, characters, classes) and I am wondering if there's a simpler explanation for this tutorial. By simpler, I mean an actual video showing all of this. English was not my first language, hence I hope to be able to see it being done rather than assume what the article is referring to in some instances. I can do portraits, events, and maps easy, but I wanna expand the data (possibly using free space or just new data at the end of the hex editor). If no video is available, I would love if pictures of the steps for expansion is available. I understand the calculations fine, but I really need to know how to find the starting addresses for characters, classes, items, etc. Items is: : 0xBE222c if I recall correctly, but what about the others. Any info to know in addition for easier results?
  11. Not sure if anyone saw these but there's new videos introducing classes in both versions of Fire Emblem Fates! Nohr: https://youtu.be/4WjKqx6iTFk Hoshido: https://youtu.be/bcDpKihUWTY
  12. At 60+ classes that's a lot of skills. Plus characters have character specific skills. We could potentially have around 150+ skills with our current knowledge. The skill mechanics of If are very different with Parallel Seals being in the game. If there are no Secondary Seals, then the game will be forcing a very specific skill path. That doesn't really make sense though now that I think on it, because there are 6 slots, 1 is filled by default. Then there's 5 more, and if each class has only 2, then with Parallel seals you can only attain 4 more skills per character, so then there must be a way to reset the characters level or somehow get more skills than at cap. Plus the UI before battles has a "Swap Skills" section, imposing that you will have multiple skills. How do you think they will handle skills in Fire Emblem If? Will Hoshido and Nohr share classes and class skills? Will there be Secondary Skills or a way to reset EXP? Will different classes on Hoshido and Nohr have the same skills (I.e. Dragon classes and Pegasus Classes having the same skills)? There are too many questions for skills.
  13. Hi, Kagehoshi here again - you might remember me as the one who ranted on a different topic about the release date gap. Anywho, I'm not here to rant, I just wish to talk about something I picked up on after having watched the trailers/screenshot a lot, and I want to hear everyone's thoughts. My apologies for the lengthy post. Screenshots I'm mentioning can be found on this site under "Images and Videos." Something I would like to point out (and I'm most likely not the first to think of it) is that there might not be any gender-locked classes in FE:if, but rather, faction-locked; Amongst Hoshido's forces (seen in screenshots etc.) we see mymidons and swordmasters, based on their battle stance (same as Awakening) which fits with how someone would wield a katana. We also see assassins on the Hoshido side, as they share the same sprites from Awakening again, but we don't see any cavaliers at all. Ryoma himself looks like a swordmaster, same stance and all. On the Nohr side, however (screenshots, again) we see that there are no assassins/swordmasters/myrmidons around - only knights and cavaliers. My theory/speculation is that the myrmidons/assassins/swordmasters will be for Hoshido only since they're more reminiscent to samurais and ninjas, which goes with the "feudal Japan" feel on Hoshido, while cavaliers, knights, great knights, and paladins will be exclusive to Nohr as they traditionally look more western/european in appearance, which goes with the western influence of Nohr. We don't see any of these classes on the opposite sides at all so far - so if certain classes are faction-locked, it could explain why we might see male pegasus knights and female warriors (Rinka, the horned-masked girl seen in trailers, screenshots, and next toRyoma as he tells Kamui about being his brother, appears to be a warrior with a kanabo - the eastern version of an axe - her attack animation is just like warriors/berserkers in Awakening); it would still give your forces more class options despite that some are exlcusive to the opposite faction. It does makes sense, in the way that a knight, with it's western-inspired armour, would look outlandish on Hoshido's side, while a ninja/assassin (Saizou being an example, appearance wise) would look strange in the Nohr army. Again, before people bash me, remember that we don't see any of these classes in the opposite faction; all screenshots show these classes fighting the other side, such as knights and cavaliers agains myrmidons/swordmasters, and the only assassin sprites are shown with other Hoshido characters. Hell, maybe even Dark Knights will only be for Nohr as well? We know that Leon is a Dark Knight, and we've seen (appearance wise, at least) Dark Knights being the enemy in screenshot and the first trailer, at least. Your thoughts? EDIT: Someone pointed out that perhaps it was just showcased to look like there were faction-locked classes, but in the second trailer (speficially, when both your families beckons you to their side) you can see Hoshido's and Nohr's armies in the background - Nohr has soldiers similar to Awakening with their western style, complese with lances, while Hoshido show katana-wielding myrmidons as their main force, further supporting my theory. However, there's a possibility that you can recruit units from the opposite faction, as seen on these screenshots: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/fireemblem/images/7/70/Saizou_sprite.png/revision/latest?cb=20150410071751 http://serenesforest.net/wp-content/gallery/january-2015-nintendo-direct/Jan_006.jpg Notice how the sprite is the same - first, a Nohrian marked as red, the standard colour of enemies in the series, and in the next, blue - he's with you. It's not a stretch to say that the only way you could get your faction's missing classes is by recruiting them from the opposite side?
  14. So in the trailer we saw some of the units to be included in IF. I had an idea of a fun little game, lets try to guess what classes the general group of characters will end up being. Feel free to put number of characters to the list to if you so desire, I just felt it would be fun to start this now and update along as we get more characters. Feel free to talk about our already revealed characters too of course.
  15. Hey, so quick question. How do you change unit's classes in fe7? I've tried, but it didn't work. I'm using Nightmare 2 on mac.
  16. An independent gaming journalism site that I frequent just published a comprehensive breakdown of the use of skills throughout the history of the Fire Emblem series, from "Holy War" to "Awakening", the latter of which the writer is very critical of, and it was very fascinating to read. Be sure to check it out if you're interested in the mechanics the series: http://www.gatheryou...-emblem-series/

  18. There have been plenty of threads about which classes play the best, but what about the classes that look the best? We're talking 100% aesthetics here. The actual effectiveness of any of the classes doesn't come into question. I think the best looking is the myrmidon class. I love classes that use fur, and the emblem on the sash takes the cake for me. The worst in my opinion goes to the Hero class. I don't what Intelligence Systems were thinking, making one of the best classes in the game look the most ridiculous. I don't even want Ike's DLC character because I think his avatar and portrait look silly. The only character in the game with a decent looking hero avatar is Flavia. Sucks that it's character exclusive to her, though.
  19. Awakening, unlike most other Fire Emblems, encourage the player to experiment with character classes and find what works best for them. This being said, which characters who's original classes do you tend to keep the same throughout your playthroughs. And when I say original classes I'm including promotions as well. IE: Turning Severa into a Hero or a Bow Knight is still keeping her in her original class.
  20. Okay, so this is something that has been bothering me for a really long time, but when I finally went to go do some reasearch on it I couldn't find anything. Different classes/weapons deal damage depending on the on one of the specific units stats: tomes=magic, swords/lances/axes=strength, bows=skill. But how exactly does it work for dragonstones/manaketes? Specifically in FE13 but really any answers are appreciated.
  21. And I do mean "create." You're not dragging an old class from another Fire Emblem game and putting it in Awakening's roster. Let's say IS decided to do DLC again and add a new class to the game, and you were given creative authority on it. This class can be a standalone like the Dread Fighter or Bride or can be a new third tier class that caps at level 30. Please include Class Name, Weapons, 2 Skills (Since this is a DLC only class they'll be learned at levels 1 and 15. Just keep that in mind,) whether the class is gender exclusive or not; and finally, a brief description of the class that you would see at the promotion/reclassing screen. (If the class you create is the third tier to an existing class, please name the class it promotes from.) Now... Let me break the ice. Class Name: Warden Weapons: Spears & Tombs Skill 1: [Impale] - Allows the user to strike three times in one attack. Activation: Skill divided by 2. Skill 2: [Beastbreaker] - Increases Hit Rate & Evasion by 20% when fighting beast units. Gender Exclusivity: None Description: Wardens are knights who've trained in the wilderness to accumulate sharp instincts. They are especially deadly when facing beast units. Promotes From: None
  22. I'm new to the Fire Emblem series. Awakening is the very first game that I have played and it has become my favorite game that I have played on any system. I have been struggling very much lately with my Lunatic mode save file. I have tried looking online for guides for optimal parent pairings for the top children. I have not had much luck in finding anything to help me out. I am trying to find Chrom a wife since the next chapter is the chapter where he is married automatically afterwards. I was thinking Sumia because she really just seems like a power house. I'm not sure though if that is wasting Chrom's fantastic skills or not. I've also seen a lot of places that Olivia is a great choice, but for a defensive Lucina. There is just so much information that I am overwhelmed and undecided on any pairings. I'd really appreciate help on this and some guidance for optimal pairings.
  23. Here is the list of possible ways to have one at least of the children characters achieve the highest stat cap modifier for a specific stat for both genders, showing the second generation children with the variable parent as well as third generation Morgan (with the listed Asset/Flaw combinations required for the Avatar) and the highest possible stat when applied to a class with the Limit Break skill equipped. For the case of the children character having access to the Taguel or Manakete class, the Taguel or Manakete class will be shown in addition to the regular class that character can access with the Limit Break skill equipped along with the stat bonus Beaststone+ or Dragonstone+ provides when equipped respectively. This list is done for convenience and is NOT intended to be an optimization guide because of the following reasons: Optimization is not required to make a child character gamebreaking. The listed combinations may cause a child character to have possible penalties in stats. The listed combinations may cause a child character to miss out on possible class/skill options. A combination can cause other child characters to miss out on stat cap boosts and class/skill options. You can just use this list so you can make a child character with a very high stat just to show off in a Streetpass team. Such wow. Please let me know if there are any errors in the list or any possible combination that I may have missed. Enjoy! 24. Hey guys, I was exploring the FE13 Subforum and I didn't really see any threads that specifically delve into which classes are the most useful in Awakening, so I thought I'd make one just for that purpose. The idea of this thread is to sort the classes for how useful they're generally considered to be for the postgame metagame-- namely spotpass challenges and challenge maps like Apotheosis. This refers more generally to which classes are the most useful to reclass into, regardless of the character. (Assume all DLC content available.) I'll keep track of more or less what the general consensus is in the OP for reference to anyone looking for like a general classing / strategy guide. S-Rank: Top of the line, second to none. - Sage [s / A Limbo] - Darkflier A-Rank: The best units with the most essential qualities required for success in the postgame. - Valkyrie - Falcoknight - Hero - Dancer B-Rank: Very strong units that typically act as good filler. May be interchangeable with one another or some A-rank units. - Berserker - Paladin - Sniper - Assassin - Dreadfighter - Bride C-Rank: Strong units with unique niches, though these roles are usually overshadowed by more powerful units. - Wyvern Lord - Sorcerer - Dark Knight - Greatlord - Grandmaster - Manakete D-Rank: Units that are usable, but mostly outclassed by other units. Not bad, but typically not worth a team slot. - Bow Knight - Warrior - General - Great Knight - Griffon Rider - Swordmaster - Trickster - War Monk E-Rank: Bottom-of-the-barrel units that have no practical use or application in competitive settings. - Villager - Taguel - Lodestar General Conduct: For discussion purposes, try to stick to discussing one or a few units at a time. While completed, the list may still be subject to change if enough substantial evidence for the change is offered up. **When discussing a unit, don't forget to mention which tier you think it belongs in.**
  25. Okay, time to go full nerd here, so bear with me. Say you're a playable unit in one of the Fire Emblem games - What would your class/level be? What items would you come equipped with? If it's by Awakening standards, what are your class sets? It's stuff like that. I'd try to ask more, but I'm not sure what else to ask. Keep in mind, if you're a level 19 Hero coming equipped with extremely overpowered weapons and mostly capped stats, you'd probably be recruited in the last chapter or something. Enjoy! Personally, I think I'd be a low level myrmidon, (About level 3-5) coming equipped with a simple Iron Sword or the like. Definitly a vulnerary, maybe a Killing Edge or something so I can fit the Navarre archetype. By Awakening standards, my class sets would be Mercenary, Myrmidon, and Thief. (Keep in mind, all 3 of those can use swords! That's because I really like swords.) Slightly above average strength for a Myrmidon, (Like all Myrmidons,) good skill, and kind of average speed. Some really low luck, alright defence, below-average resistence, and average health. Usually if I create characters in games or something, I try to make them look as much like me as possible, to feel like I'm almost part of the experience. That's just me, though- you could reply to this with your unit basically being you, or your own original character. Whatever works for you. /nerdism
