  1. I've spent the whole night searching for an easy method to get better level up stats for FE4. The closest method I can find is using Lua Scripts in TAS video to get the next 16 RNs here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13270&highlight= Even though I've successfully installed the script in my emulator, I don't know how to interpret those 16 RNs and what they represent. I really appreciate if anyone who has experienced in Lua Script can explain or point me to correct method. Thank you.
  2. First of all, I'm sorry if this isn't the best place to post this. I'm new to the forums, (I've lurked for a long time but never posted anything) so if I should put this somewhere else just let me know and I'll move it. Thanks. So I decided I wanted to try modifying FE4 in nightmare, and there are several things I want to do. However, I'm not sure how to do them, or even if I can at all. I'm going to try and think of as many questions as possible so that I don't have to update every time something new occurs to me. First of all, I want to make all of the Holy Weapons, with the exception of Gungnir and Loptyr, usable by the player. However, I want to do it in a somewhat realistic way. As in, I don't want a character to just randomly have the Helswath or Valflame in their inventory right off the bat for no reason. That's where the tricky part comes in. Messing with Holy Blood and inheritance is easy, but the game doesn't even give you the Holy Weapons that no one in your party should be able to use, for obvious reasons. So, this question has 3 parts. First, can I make it so that the minibosses will drop their holy weapons? For example, Langbalt with the Helswath in chapter 5? I went into his character data and tried to make it his dropable item, but it doesn't seem to be an option. If I'm able to do this, can I make it sellable, just in case the wrong character kills him? And if I'm not able to do these things, is it possible to put it in the proper character's inventory after the boss is dead? If someone could direct me to a way to do any of these things, I'd be very grateful. And that's all I can think of for right now. If I run across any other issues, I'll update. Thanks in advance. EDIT: I should probably mention that if I have to use a program other than Nightmare, I'm willing to do that. Keep that in mind.
  3. Started working on a personal pairing guide to accommodate for growths, inheritance and story talks for every combination possible in Genealogy of the Holy War. It has now become so complex that I'd like to share it for general usage. It is still very much a work in progress, so I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say about how it could be streamlined and improved upon if you have the time. Link here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9H3x-jIxRxpLVJWR3ZzY3JiVlU/view?usp=sharing Spreadsheet is split up into Holy Blood bonuses, skills, weapons, special talks/items/stat boosts, royal lineage and overall potential. In particular I'm looking for a way to incorporate weapon rank changes between fathers and combined child growth rates (w/o Holy Blood), while still making the spreadsheet user friendly. Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing what you think!
  4. I'm playing through FE4 (Project Naga translation), and I'm currently on chapter 5. For some reason about half way through the chapter my game suddenly stopped showing the movement grid and attack range for all characters. I have no idea what caused this and it's quite a big hindrance to the gameplay. Anyone know what caused this and how to fix it? (Gif attached is an example of the glitch.)
  5. Since Manfroy captures her in chapter 10, would it be wise to have her promoted before chapter 10 or wait until after she's been re-recruited in the final chapter?
  6. What are the best Gen 2 pairings you can make in FE 4? I know they don't have two many benefits except for stat boosts. So is it possible to pair everyone to all members of the army get a stat boost? If so, how? Or just tell me some pairings you found were useful.
  7. Sadly, I've never played this game all the way through since the big maps are pretty intimidating (as well as all the changed mechanics from FE3). Anything I should know before going in? I know the basic gist of the story and mechanics, but only a few specifics. Might as well try it again with Project Naga released! Thracia 776 is the only game in the series I haven't even touched, and I'm super interested in that one. I'm going to wait until I play FE4, though.
  8. So yeah, I'd like to get my hands on those FE4 figurines and add them to my neat little collection of nerdy junk I have. However all I ever see on Ebay or Amazon are boxed sets which I know for a fact aren't all six figures, its six RANDOM figures. I could get a box of all Sigurds for pete's sake. So, anyone know anyone/where to just sell the figures individually? They got for about 10 USD a pop which isn't terrible imo, its just a matter of finding the damn things so I don't get needless dupes.
  9. Okay, so I have some questions regarding FE4 hacking, and some of them might be noob-ish, but anyway... 1- How can you make so that enemy-only weapons are droppable from an enemy? How could I add one into any unit's starting inventory? 2- How can I change the portrait of x character into y's portrait? (For example, giving Alvis's portrait to Sigurd's unit) 3- Is there a way to make so that sword skills can be used by any class and any weapon type? I think that's it for now, thanks in advance! ^^
  10. Since when can you beat an arena with zero HP? Also what happened: Ulster used sol (Dew's son). But he didn't absorb enough HP to take another hit. The swordmaster hit him fatally... but despite having no HP this fight still continues. Does anyone know about this glitch? Or is there a hidden skill activated... I'm not aware of?
  11. I've heard there was a glitch that allowed Seliph and Daisy to instantly fall in love but I can't really find any information on it. Does anyone here know anything about it?
  12. I have a few questions concerning inheritance overall in FE4- namely, how it works in general because I have no clue, but specifically I'm wondering about 4 characters specifically: Deirdre, Finn (Should I decide to pair him up), Quan, and Ethlyn. I'm wondering if items are inherited from Deirdre by Julia, or if I should sell all of Deirdre's items before she leaves so as not to waste them. I'm also wondering how Inheritance will affect Finn in the second generation if I end up pairing him off, since my main hesitation with pairing him with Aideen over Midir is Finn himself being affected by inheritance, making Finn a unique case compared to other units. All of these units leave early on top of all of that, so is there anything specific I need to make sure of to trigger their inheritances or do they automatically pass items down when they leave? Finally, does Inheritance pass down all items or just specific ones? How does it work in general? I'm on Chapter 2 and before I proceed further I wanted to arm myself with knowledge so I don't screw up my pairings I spent 4 hours making. If it makes any difference, here's the pairings I have set up: Finn/Midir + Aideen (It depends on how inheritance effects Finn if I'm going to decide on using Finn or Midir in the end) Noish + Ayra Beowolf + Raquesis (Non negotiable) Claude + Sylvia (non negotiable because of Cairpre and the Valkyrie Staff) Lewyn + Erin (Non negotiable) Azel + Taillte Dew + Bridget (Very close to non negotiable because of Patty)
  13. FE4 has many name charts. However, they tend to list only two lists of names and no more. This chart I made compares every translation patch released that I know of, along with all the FAQs on GameFAQs. It can be used as a point of reference to see when names were introduced or when older names fell out of use. http://mediafire.com/file/yft8d8z8aunw83c/Darrman&27s+Fancy+Name+Chart+Thing.xls
  14. I search answers for these questions: - Ways to unlock the unobtainable holy weapons or holy blood - + How to aqurie/hack and use siege tomes and dark magic Thanks for answering
  15. Hello there! So I've decided to start a series of polls to truly understand how good/bad people on this board think units are in FE4. Well, gotta have some stupid rules first: - Only numerical votes on a understandable scale, please. - Don't forget to at least briefly justify why a unit kicks/sucks ass! - You may give the unit a +/- 0.5 bias, but only if you give a reason for it (even if it's only for Alec's turban, for example) - Correct me if I did some mistakes on this topic or future ones. I do a lot of them honestly :P - Most of all, have fun debating! ^^ Results GEN 1 1- Sigurd = 9 99/10 (17 votes) 2- Noish = 5.31/10 (20 votes) 3- Alec = 5.89/10 (19 votes) 4- Ardan = 2.04/10 (18 votes) 5- Lex = 7.60/10 (20 votes) 6- Azel = 4.65/10 (22 votes) 7- Cuan = 8.14/10 (21 votes) 8- Ethlyn = 8.77/10 (18 votes) 9- Finn = 8.30/10 (18 votes) 10- Midayle = 6.91/10 (19 votes) 11- Ayra = 5.94/10 (22 votes) 12- Dew = 6.11/10 (19 votes) 13- Adean = 6.65/10 (16 votes) 14- Jamke = 5.57/10 (17 votes) 15- Deirdre = 1.89/10 (17 votes) 16- Holyn = 5.53/10 (19 votes) 17- Lachesis = 6.71/10 (19 votes) 18- Beowulf = 5.32/10 (18 votes) 19- Lewyn/Levin = 7.15/10 (20 votes) 20- Sylvia = 7.95/10 (27 votes) 21- Erin = 7.42/10 (19 votes) 22- Taillte = 3.82/10 (19 votes) 23- Briggid = 5.5/10 (16 votes) 24- Claude = 5.47/10 (16 votes) GEN 2 1- Seliph = 9.36/10 (18 votes) 2- Oifaye = 7.65/10 (17 votes) 3- Julia = 4.86/10 (18 votes) 4- Johan = 4.63/10 (16 votes) 5- Johalva = 3.53/10 (16 votes) 6- Shanan = 7.06/10 (18 votes) 7- Leif = 8.73/10 (20 votes) 8- Ares = 8.62/10 (17 votes) 9- Altenna = 5.27/10 (17 votes) 10- Hannibal = 1.66/10 (16 votes) So, I have no choice but to start with the main Lord himself, Sigurd! Class: Lord Knight (Level 5) Holy Blood: Major Baldur Personal Skills: Pursuit Class Skills: None Stats: 35 HP (110%) 14 Strength (50%) 0 Magic (5%) 11 Skill (50%) 12 Speed (30%) 9 Defense (40%) 3 Resistance (5%) 7 Luck (40%) My thoughts: Like pretty much every FE4 player, I think Sigurd is by far the best lord to ever have existed in the franchise! He has great bases, good growths, is mounted in FE4, has the most important skill (Pursuit) and can use any sword ever - which includes the Tyrfing and its godly stats bonuses - as well as most lances, if you care. And let's not forget his incredible Silver Sword that he will receive in the Prologue chapter! So yeah, I'll give him a 9.5/10, cause his Resistance still sucks without the Tyrfing, but since I have a bias for him, it translates into a massive 10/10! Let's get the show started! ^^
  16. I'll list mine from each game. Mystery of the Emblem: "Advance"(Beginning chapters theme)and "Holy War"(Final chapter theme} Genealogy of the Holy War: "Girl of the Spirit Forest"(Chapter 1 theme) and "Lionheart Eldigan"(Chapter 3 theme) Thracia 776:" Advance B" and "Base" (Haven't played much of Thracia 776)
  17. Hey folks! I just felt like doing a completely unnecessary text on why I feel like Alec is actually a pretty good unit in my opinion. So yeah, just keep on reading... First off, I just want to clarify that I don't think that he is freakin' amazing and/or better than Sigurd or anything like that, but whatever. But still, I think he does have many redeeming qualities that makes him totally worth using overall. First, let's talk about his skills. Alec, while not having access to any class skills, does have two personal ones permanently attached to him: Pursuit and Nihil/Awareness. Pursuit is possibly the MOST important skill in the game, because it essentially allows a character to function like a ''normal'' unit in the series, and also because it has a near 100% chance of doubling your damage output for a round of combat. But Nihil, while much more situational, also has its cool uses! It basically negates anything that is not Wrath and normal attacks, such as critical hits, effective damage and even enemy offensive skills. I dare to say that this makes Alec into an ideal choice for specific situations, such as recruiting Ayra - dues to Nihil negating the super-nasty Astra - and if he has lucky stat growths, he may even handle most of the dracoknights in Chapter 5 because of the horseslayers being horrible against him, or he could do it with foot-locked units if he's not good enough. Point is, while one of those two skills will not be always useful, they do work quite well in his favor. Secondly, how is Alec exactly as a combat unit? Well, the big reason why he is salvageable for many people is because of this: Alec is a Cavalier, with perfect availability, in FE4. Since Genealogy is (in)famously known for its HUGE maps, being a mounted unit in this game is perhaps the biggest thing you can going for you, since you can traverse way more rapidly terrain and join the fight before all foot-locked soldiers. And let's not also forget the ability to move the remaining distance after doing an action (Canto). And since he joins at the same time as Zigludo-Senpai Sigurd, Alec can be put to use immediately! Lastly, what about his stats? Honestly, this is where it kinda falls off. While he does have pretty soolid base HP for FE standards, his other startings stats are otherwise only Okay, especially with a mediocre Defense of 7. As for growth rates, since he is from the famous Cain archetype, Ale sure likes getting good Skill. However, his Speed actually only has one more point than Strength at base (10 vs. 9) and both stats share a 30% growth (and Defense also has a 30% growth, strangely). Even then, since enemies are not terribly fast and that swords are really light, he will pretty much always double anyway, so it barely matters. However, it is true that is Strength is shaky, but I do think that 16 to 17 Power when freshly promoted at Lvl. 20 is good enough to work out. At worst, he could be a solid weakener for others, y'know? Speaking of, his promotion to Paladin is serviceable, but still one of the weakest gains in the game, with +2 or 3 points in every stat that isn't Magic or Resistance (+5, surprinsingly) and a better rank in Lances. Sure, many would argue that being locked from Silver and Blade weapons is a bummer, but Steel has not exactly garbage might, and should you feel that it's weak, you could still give him a magic sword after promotion, or even Ayra's Brave Sword if you are *ahem* Brave enough. (sorry...). I also think that giving him a high-kill weapon - thanks to his high Skill - is not a horrible idea... So yeah, this was a stupidly lengthy text about me defending why I think Alec is actually pretty good. Sure, he will not one-round anything on his way, but if you give him the right opportunities, I am certain that he'll fill a spot/niche in your army that is not a benchwarmer! Please comment and give me your thoughts! ^^
  18. Im playing Fe4 for the first time and I was wondering if i should use arenas and how much I should use them? Im asking this because I don't want to make my army massively over powered and steam roll the whole game. Also I would like to know: are there any named units in the arena and does the arena reset every chapter?
  19. I remember months ago when Fates was about to be released in the west, someone did portraits of the Hoshidan and Nohrian royal siblings in the style of the portraits of FE4. I have no idea who made it, or even where to start looking for it, so I'm wondering, has any of you seen it? Or at least know who the artist was? Any help is appreciated in advance.
  20. My memory's a bit hazy since it's been a while that I played FE4. I'm not exactly sure of how I feel about Ferry and her usability ingame, that is, combat, movement e.t.c, you get the gist. She is of course a pegasus knight and I'm fond of those type of units. But, honestly, I can't think of how useful Ferry is. She is particularly helpful in saving villages, especially in ch3 and ch4, if she can take some damage from some nearby enemy. But, before promotion, she's...just got the highest movement amongst everyone else, and her combat is fairly average. She sometimes dodges and I never found her to do much damage(better damage then Alec at least). She does have enough HP to atleast survive..three attacks, I guess? She's also helpful in protecting Briggid,Tiltyu and Claude in ch3, as she can just fly there. So, I want to know, what are your thoughts? Is she a good useful unit, or just average? And how can she become much better before promotion? For me, personally tho, being a pegasus knight, I prefer to use Ferry, as much as possible. Ps sorry if this topic was kinda pointless.
  21. I need help with FE4 (Geneology of the Holy War). I was wondering if anyone could lend me aid? I know nothing about this game. And I NEED help with if I want to play it!
  22. http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=46497 So what happened to this guy happened to me. except Faval never spawned, and instead Asaello did appear, Sety as well wouldn't appear, but I already have tried reclearing chapter 5 ( I did it twice....) Picture evidence: Patty: http://puu.sh/r3WOC/f6d402c0c5.jpg Asaello: http://puu.sh/r3WNH/9c63efc1bc.jpg Fee: http://puu.sh/r3XGa/d5b806dee0.jpg Hawk: http://puu.sh/r3XB6/486b8f748e.jpg Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this :/? Any help would be appreciated I have tried soft resetting and they still appear. If by redo level 5 then go back to level 8 is what the Original post meant, I haven't done that, do I need to?
  23. I've been interested in FE4 for a long time. I've always wanted to do a LP on it, but with the mechanics introduced into the game, I feel I would need some guidance. Due to this, I feel I would play FE4, but with the new ROM Hack version of it and bring a Co-Commentator on for the journey. To be a Co-Commentator for this LP though, I need someone who has a decent understanding of the story, gameplay mechanics, and the characters as well. Once I've found a Co-Commentator for this, I'll begin the LP of it. I'll be waiting!
  24. Since FE4 has a new translation lately and we can finally enjoy the epilogue and see the units' stats and credits, we decided to do a LP of this game. This will be a normal playthrough. If someone should die (which will be the case most likely for me at least since I suck in FE), we will reset because we want to have a good second generation. The target is to have fun and to see all the characters' ending in English language. After each seized castle we'll change. Sophie will decide about the pairings.
  25. Recently, I purchased Mystery of the Emblem and Genealogy of the Holy War from a convention last week. They both come with some really nice art and FE4 even includes a map of Jugdral. I'm fairly new to scanning, and I'm not exactly sure what I should keep an eye out for. I want to try and scan both instruction booklets in full, and want them to look presentable. Here's an example of something I scanned, a card included with Mystery including several of the characters you start with. http://imgur.com/a/LojKF The scanner I'm using is a Deskjet 2050, it's currently the only scanner I have access to.
