  1. So I think we can all agree that Faye is probably the most disliked out of the playable cast. Yet, despite that, i found myself liking her quite a bit. So to find out why I like Faye and why i'm defending her, we need to take a close look at her character she's one note so analyzing her character isn't that hard. To begin, we know that Faye has a crush on Alm, which is her main trait. She's had that crush on Alm ever since they were children, and when Faye was saved by Alm, that's where the crush likely depend to it's current point. "I remember when we were children and those knaves cornered us in the woods. You came to our rescue like a knight in shining armor. Ha ha. Look at you! You’re blushing! But it’s true. You’ve always been my knight, you know? Then and now." -Act 1 Base Convo. One of the things that i really appreciate about Faye is that, despite being obsessed with Alm, she genuinely loves him. "You always were braver than me." -Act 1 Base Convo. "They said I talk too much about you. They want to know what’s happening with me, not you. But they don’t understand that I AM writing about myself! Or at least I’m writing about what matters to me…" -Act 4 Base Convo. And then of course, there's Faye confessing to Alm in their A-Support. So Faye gets called a yandere....pretty commonly actually. But i don't see her as one. Outside of maybe the obsession (more on that later), she doesn't fulfill the qualifications of being a yandere. She doesn't stalk Alm, she doesn't go after any of the girls that talk to Alm, and most importantly, she handles the freindzone pretty well. However, one counter-argument you might have is her lines in her C and B-Supports with Alm where she says "Now, shall I head back out there and slay more of your enemies for you?!","I'll fight for any cause you desire!", and "I drank a bunch of tea, so I'm ready to kill in your name! Just point me at your enemies and watch me go!". Perfectly understandable counter-argument, however, Faye being a yandere simply isn't true in my eyes. Let's take a look at the facts. There's one thing that Alm says in his B-Support with Faye that caught my attention: "But I'm worried about the toll this war is taking on her...". Basically, what the game is telling us here is that Faye wanting to kill enemies in Alm's name is more of an effect of the war rather than Faye herself. There is more evidence to support this. For starters, Faye is against joining the Deliverence, saying it's too dangerous. In fact, she only obviously joins the Deliverance with the sole thought of staying close to Alm and keeping him safe. "I'll grow however I can to keep you safe, Alm." -Faye's promotion quote. In addition, Faye is probably the least experienced with weapons. Sure, she did train with Mycen ("I was taught by the best." -one of Faye's victory quotes) but she's the only one of the Ram Villagers that has no indicator of what her canon class is (it's Pegasus Knight if Cipher is any indication), compared to Tobin, who shot some arrows, Kliff who practiced magic, and Gray, who sparred with a fence. And in her A-Support, when she's confessing to Alm, she says "And we'll never have to fight another battle for as long as we live!". Tl;dr, the war was temporarily affecting Faye's mind. At the end of the day, she wants to live a peaceful life without fighting. Ok, so is Faye actually obsessed with Alm? Yes. But how far does this obsession go? Clearly not far enough to the point where she ignores the consequences. "I thought about going after him just to teach him a lesson, but I didn't. I'd probably get killed by some foul beast out there on my own, you know?" -Faye's recruitment conversation with Celica. So despite her obsession, she's still able to think logically. Now here's another counter-argument you might have: the infamous Support Convo with Silque. The common thought is that Faye hates everybody but Alm. This is like, not true actually. In the prolouge and the beginning of Act 1, we clearly see that Faye and the rest of the Ram Villagers are good friends. Adding to that, Faye is also good friends with Celica. "Oh, Celica! You're back! Gosh, how long has it been? I've missed you so much!" -Celica's recruitment conversation with Celica. So the question is, why was Faye rude to Silque? Well, it's very possible that Faye just has a serious lack of social skills with girls. Think about it. Growing up, Faye's only friends were all guys. Sure, Celica was there but only for a short while (it was recently brought to my attention that Celica was in Ram for three years). And even though she was rude to Silque, Faye realized her mistake and apologized. On a more general note, Faye does give other members of the army compliments when they land a crit. I know i mentioned this before, but Faye's A-Support with Alm was what really made me appreciate her. When she begins to confess, she acknowledges that it isn't the best time for it (they are on a battlefield). And despite her obsession with Alm, when he rejects her, she takes it reasonably. She doesn't get angry, she just accepts it. In fact, she likely knew from the start that she would be friendzoned. "I should've known such a thing wasn't really possible." -Faye in her A-Support with Alm. This here is basically further evidence that she genuinely loves Alm. The things i talked about above are also a reason why i think Faye is a better character than Tharja and Camilla. Tharja stalks Robin and even went as far as to curse him with a cold just so she could take care of him ...whereas Camilla just straight up tried to kill Corrin in both Birthright and Revelation. Meanwhile, Faye genuinely loves Alm and would never wish or inflict harm upon him. Now, i know what you're gonna say. "Tharja and Camilla at least had more to them." This is true. You know what else is true? Tharja and Camilla having 20+ Support Convos, with Camilla being story relevant. Faye only has two Support Convos and isn't story relevant. Tharja and Camilla had the advantage (is it really though) of being in games where everybody could Support with almost anybody. Really, a more fair comparison would be comparing Faye to Marisha from FE3/12. The only reason i brought up Tharja and Camilla is because Faye gets compared to them a lot from what i've seen. Conclusion: this is basically just me explaining why I like Faye. Is this post meant to change your opinion on her? No. Is Faye a deep, complex, deconstruction character like some have claimed? No. Do i think she's getting a lot of unnecessary hate? Yes. Do you have to agree with me on that? No. Would i like it if people saw her a bit more positively now? Yes. Will that happen? Well, who knows? Anyway, go ahead and tell me what you think of this essay i made regarding why i like Faye.
  2. I've seen plenty of heated discussions regarding one of the new characters, Faye, and I understand why. However, I noticed there hasn't been as much discussion about the Masked Knight compared to other characters, so I'd thought I'd make a topic where we can discuss opinions on the Masked Knight as a character. What is your opinion of the Masked Knight? Do you like/love/dislike/hate him as a character, or do you not care about him at all? Why so? My answer: While I haven't played the game yet, I have been following the story spoilers, the supports, and base conversations, and from what I've seen of Conrad thus far, he seems rather likable. While Conrad seems rather one-note in the character department with his attachment to Celica, I like how his attachment to her is not a creepy, obsessive crush. Instead, it's the sibling-kind of love. I also appreciate how he has a fleshed out backstory regarding why he cares for Celica. He's quite a sympathetic character considering how he was ridiculed for most of his childhood because of his origins, but Celica was one of the few people that genuinely cared for him. And then there's his two-face persona that varies depending on whether or not he wears the mask. If he wears the mask, he's cold, serious, and ready for action, but if he doesn't wear his mask, we see his soft-sided and dorky side to him. To me, I think this double-faced persona makes him more charming. This is just my current opinion of Conrad based on what I've read of him thus far. It might change once I play Shadows of Valentia for myself when it is released outside of Japan next week.
  3. Hinata is the Retainer of Takumi. Hinata I see him as an Energetic Swordsman with a Bright Personality. He those have flaws but I can't describe it Personal Skill Triple Threat This skill is super Effective and I love this skill this skill mix with Counter magic and Miracle can make Hinata a Deadly Unit. The only Flaw is that it doesn't counter Magic Bows and Daggers Growth Rates Samurai HP 65% Str 45% Mag 0% Ski 40% Spd 35% Lck 60% Def 45% Res 25% As a Samurai Hinata is a Defensive and Powerful tank but His res are awful and I can see why but his Luck is fabulous making him have a chance of activating Skills like Miracle but his Low Spd is a throwback since it loses to all stats besides Mag and res and mag doesn't matter to him. Having Less spd makes him easy to hit and it makes Ninjas easier to weaken Hinata his skill is decent. Sword Master HP 65% Str 45% Mag 5% Ski 40% Spd 35% Lck 60% Def 45% Res 25% Nothing to say look at Samurai Master of Arms HP 70% Str 50% Mag 0% ski 35% Spd 25% Lck 55% Def 55% Res 15% Now this Promotion set is better then sword master to be honest since of his high HP Str lck and def growth rate is good his res is much worse and his spd and his ski but this is a better promotion since it improves many of his growth rates. Overall I give HInata a 4 out 5 stars his stats are good for Master of arms and not that good in sword master and I like his personality but he is weak as a swordmaster so that is it thank you for reading
  4. Hey, it's 11volt. There's not much else to say on this. Let's discuss our picks for best and worst classes in the game. My picks would be Sorcerer for best and Sniper for worst.
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXjyJdUVlG8 Xator Nova/Ronaldo Villanueva decided to talk about one of his favorite games, Thracia 776 in probably his most ambicious project nowadays. He wants to defend the position of Thracia as one of the best Strategical Games in the Story of the Videogames. Note: The video is in spanish (his native languaje), but has notes with english subtitules.
  6. Since we've had a daily topic about what we think of characters, and one about the music of Fates, I decided to make one where we give our opinions on the character's aesthetics. Which might have been discussed a bit in the character discussion thread but for this thread It shall be the main focus. Does the clothing appeal to you? any facial features that really makes the character pop? anything that just looks odd to you? post em here. I'll stick with a 2 characters per day formula. List so far: To start us off I figured we'd start with: #1 - Corrin (M/F) I'm rather mixed about Corrin's design. It's not dull by any means and the black and white on the armour looks nice, It just looks a tad bit over designed in comparison to previous lord designs, particularly In comparison to our last avatar character Robin. Also the male version's hair is a tad silly, although the female's hair is actually quite nice. The headpiece is a nice touch to her design. With that said however her design suffers from unnecessary sexualisation in the form of those patch of exposed skin around the thighs. While not the biggest deal since Camilla and Charlotte exist it does feels forced onto her design as her male counterpart doesn't have anything like that (Similar for Effie when compared to Benny but I'll get to that later). It reminds me of Cherche's design in how inconsistent it was with that design choice. Also why do neither of them wear shoes? Since they were first revealed It's stuck out to me like a sore thumb (or in this case, a toe hehe). I'm guessing that it's because when they transform into a dragon they need space for their feet/hands? which is still odd since their armour seems to blend into their body upon transforming, at least that what it looks like. Edit: Also when it came to custom avatar designs for the male I preferred the long hair one as it gave him an elfish look. Haven't used F!Corrin yet so not sure what I'd prefer for her. I suppose we can also discuss Corrin's dragon design while we're at it. If there's one thing I noticed about this game and dragon's is that they seem to be really stretching what can be considered a dragon. Along with Lilith I just don't see them as a dragon, if anything the first thing I thought of upon seeing Corrin's dragon form was Xerneas from Pokemon X...while Lilith is just a bloody koi fish squirrel. #2 - Azura Azura certainly has an interesting design for a dancer. It's exotic, yet mysterious, which suits her character. The one leg stocking thing sticks out though since that's connected to her undergarment, so would that be considered a fan servicy design choice? or is it some kind of pants that just has one leg exposed? It reminds me of Palutena as she had one leg stocking as well. I like her long, flowing blue hair, which also looks hilarious ingame since some classes clothing clips through it or the gear from cloths shops, had her as a berserker recently and the combination of her hair with the barbarian look made me giggle.
  7. So, this is a little reflexion that popped when I and my best friend were having a discussion. He started getting to my nerves, and then we argued a bit. Then, it became a humouristic thing, and finally, it ended with the reflexion that I'm posting. And I'm doing it, because I felt like sharing my thoughts with you. Who knows, maybe it can change your ways of seeing everything? You'll have to read this to discover it! [spoiler=Warning: Huge wall of text frickin' incoming]So, you should know what things like puberty, adolescence and that kind of stuff do to people (the youth, in which I still belong): It makes them act differently. It makes them think differently. It makes them be total jerks, when they shouldn't be. How many children in the age of 5-10 or so are jerks? Not a lot, I assume? In my country, we call this ''the rooster age''. Or something like that. I'm not perfect at English, alright? >:c It may sound stupid in English, but it's quite certain in my country, because there, a ''rooster'' is a person that it's a total jerk, and he doesn't give shit about being it. But at the end of the day, he is just a chicken who isn't able to tell things to the face. But to resume: The adolescence is an age where people start acting rebellous. And my reflexion is, that from there, there are THREE types of person, each one acting differently to the changes that the adolescence delivers: Person 1: He is mentally mature. He knows the consecuences of the adolescence. He knows that he shouldn't be acting like a total jerk. And he won't take the idea of succumbing to the adolescence. He is well aware that, those guys in the school, who are jerks and need to have the feeling of being superior to the others, or bully the most inoffensive ones (the person 1 type), shouldn't act like that. However, in an irony, he acts rebellous against the adolescence. He doesn't like the idea of being someone else, and not themselves. And because of the thoughts he has, other people of the school will reject him from groups (friend groups, heck, even sport groups), because not a lot of people think like he does. He will suffer in the adolescence. A lot, or a little, depends. I think It's fair enough to say that, I belong to this kind of people. However, I won't go in depth with my story. Person 2: You could say that he can be as mentally mature as Person 1 is. However, he DID succumb to the adolescence. He didn't resist the thought of being a rebellous little jerk. He adapted to it. He knew that, were he have thoughts of the Person 1, he would get rejected. So, in a try to have a lot of friends and stuff, his social worries overcome his pride. Person 2 can be a little jerk, a middle ground, or a total asshole. That depends. But, in the end, it's not his fault. He may be lucky enough to not have any problems with his life. My best friend belongs to this category. Person 3: This can be considered as a thing apart. Person 3 thought: ''Well fuck this shit, why I need to care about moralism and stuff, I will just go and smoke some weed with some other junkies who also think like me!'' I don't think he is very mature, mentally-wise. He belongs to this kind of people who you can find smoking in a corner, making girls of 15 years pregnant (who also think like them), and stupid stuff like this. To be honest, these guys can almost never be trusted. They'll surely back-stab you, if needed. And due to this, Person 3 will SURELY suffer a lot in the future, even if he is cooky at the adolescence, because most of these guys are uncultivate and I doubt they'll ever get a job, or have the determination to study and get one. Sadly, there's one person of my school that I know that belongs to this kind of people. And he's a total motherfucker. Think of this like a cycle. Person 2 may turn to Person 3. Person 3 may became mature, mentally-wise, and turn to Person 1 or 2. Person 1 may change his mind and succumb to Person 2. And in a worst case scenario, Person 1 may have enough with the life and became Person 3 because he doesn't have any choice. Either that, or commit seppuku. However, misunderstoods, discussions and fights may happen. It's to hard to take factors and analysis in account when talking to someone without screwing it up. We're too lazy to think what to always say, because we have to interact with sooo many people everyday, that it would get so tedious. So, don't let fights get in the way of relationships. But sadly, sometimes, it can't be helped. It has to happen. Well, if you managed to read all of this, I thank you for sparing a bit of your time reading this kind of stuff, that may very well depress you, or make you feel better. If it's the former one, well, I'm sorry! So, that's it! And no, I'm not emo, and I'm not a person who tends to be depressive. I'm a very optimistic person. I just like to do these kinds of reflexion. This one in particular made me feel better with myself. Thank you for your attention, and remember. We all have to get through adolescence, one way or another, sadly. And I'm too lazy to make this look better. I know it's a mess, mostly because it was a bit rushed, the paragraphs are messed up, English is not my main language and it can be a bit of a problem to understand it, but you'll have to DEAL WITH IT. Have a good day!
  8. So its time again my friends to decide on my next marriage partner for my upcoming playthrough, but like before i'm at a crossroad for my options. This decision is of course personality based and not efficiency based. Should I marry Ophelia or Caeldori? I always liked Owain so Ophelia grew on my very quickly and my first pairing in awakening was with Cordelia so i'm quite crossed on this one. What do you guys think?
  9. So, you may remember that I did the same thing with FE4 a couple of weeks ago. Well, now it's time to do this poll for Fire Emblem: the Binding Blade! I am doing this topic to have a overall opinion about this game, since it's the one of the few I've never even tried... Anyway, let's debate!
  10. Well, I've been only two on this forum. I first thought that FE4 was regarded as one of the best in the series. However, the more I read on SF, the more I think that this game gets a LOT of haters in this community. So, I made this poll to see the real situation! In short, what would be your rating out of 10 for FE4?
  11. Both in the traditional sense of western societies, your opinion of the universal aspects of these adjectives, and how you think characters would think of different classes within their worlds. For my initial list I'm primarily taking into consideration this last explanation. Note that I've only played the localized games with the exception of not having finished Sacred Stones, so I'm only including the classes I've seen in-game. Everyone familiar with different classes from the other entries in the series is free to add classes that are significantly different than those listed here. I’m excluding the various axe / lance knight type distinctions, along with laguz, manaketes and the like being compared to humans. I'm also excluding "unique classes", e.g. Raven King, Dark God, ect. and classes that are not inherent to a character (e.g. Bride). My rough estimate for the classes: Feminine to Masculine, in order -------Feminine-------- Dancer Troubadour Falcon Knight Pegasus Knight Dark Flier Cleric ------------ Gender Neutral--------- Trickster Priest Mage Thief Rogue Wyvern Rider Wyvern Lord / Dragonlord Griffin Rider Archer Sniper Sage Assassin Myrmidon Swordmaster Paladin Cavalier -----------Masculine---------- Lord Great Lord Dark Mage Sorcerer / Druid Horseman Soldier Halberdier Great Knight (Awakening) Knight Bishop General Mercenary Hero Fighter Warrior Bandit Berserker And just for fun, continuing the trend of feminine to masculine: For Laguz: --Feminine-- Heron --Gender Neutral-- Cat Raven Hawk Wolf Dragon Lion Tiger Weapons (one of the easier ones simply taking into account typical weights and consequent feasibility of wielding each): Axes Lances Swords Bows Daggers Magic (this one I feel is extremely open to debate and interpretation, so I'm quite curious as to what everyone will think): Lightning Dark Wind Fire Light
  12. I would love to know the opinions you guys have of my families that I have on Fire Emblem: Awakening. Both romance and tactical wise. Please no spoilers for anything after chapter 13 D: MyUnit is called a female called Sabine. What is your unit called? Chrom x Sumia = Lucina + Brady Chrom x Sumia = Cynthia + Stahl x Sully = Kjelle + Owain Gaius x Cordelia = Severa + Donnel x Nowi = Nah + Libra x Tharja = Noire + Vaike x Lissa = Owain + Kjelle Ricken x Maribelle = Brady + Lucina Gregor x Olivia = Inigo + Frederick x Sabine = Morgan + Virion x Cherche = Gerome + Lon’qu x Miriel = Laurent + Kellam x Panne = Yarne + (Note: I've only got Owain, Brady, Inigo, Morgan, for boys and Lucina and Kjelle for girls so far children wise. Therefore their isn't many children pairings yet.) :) Thanks
  13. I really want this game, having played the majority of the others, and it having pretty much all the best features of the series combined, like the generations from FE4 and the good supports from the GBA games. Is it worth it? There are only 1 or 2 other 3ds games that appeal, aside from this, but... fire emblem...
  14. it is alright so far, i guess i have only gotten to route 4 though, feels a bit to much like kanto but that is just me
