Eventhough I started with Gen 1, I particularly remember a Gen 2 track super fondly. I had gotten Silver on my Birthday and this was one of the first themes I heard. It remains my favorite town theme despite being super simple. The start of a grand adventure.

Is this an OK place to talk about Fangame ideas, or should I just go to Concepts?

So this is an idea that I've had for a while and I'm trying to develop it to the point that I can start making it. I will admit that I don't know if anyone else has made anything like this before, but I hope to make the project original and unique enough to justify its existence. Project This hack will be a re-skin of Pokemon Fire Red in which the Pokemon have been replaced by Fire Emblem characters/classes. (More on that later.) Since this will be my first hacking project, I'm trying to keep it manageable, so replacing the Pokemon and changing some dialogue here and there seems like the most realistic route at the moment. The characters that appear will be a mixture of characters/classes from across the series. The Concept So Far Characters: Pokemon will be replaced by Fire Emblem characters. So instead of catching a Caterpie in Viridian Forest, you may end up catching a Cain or Abel. Also, Pokemon will be called Einherjar. Based on a community survey, the Starter Einherjar will be Marth, Ephraim, and Hector!! Pokemon types (fire, water, etc.) will be replaced by Weapon Types. I'm hoping that the class variety of Fire Emblem will let me get creative with the type combinations. Types I'm planning on including so far are: Sword, Lance, Axe, Bow, Beast(horse units and Laguz), Flying(pegasi, wyverns), Armor, Fire, Wind, Thunder, Light, Dark, Hidden Weapons, and Dragon(manaketes and dragons). Type advantages/disadvantages will of course be based on the weapon triangle. I'm not sure if I'll just have magic as a type or split it into Light, Anima, and Dark. Example of what a character's type would look like: Mercenary would be a Sword type, while a Hero would be a dual typed Sword/Axe type. Trainers will be characters from the series. So Gym Leaders could be guys like Seth, Ogma, Elincia, etc. I'm not sure what to do with generic trainers yet. I'd like to include many characters, so I'm trying to figure out which important trainers/characters can be replaced with which FE characters. Evolution will be the way your characters promote. For example, your Mercenary would evolve into a Hero. Battle themes are almost always at the top spot when thinking of music in Pokémon, but route music definitely deserves love! Routes make up most of the region, and consequently a large chunk of your experience with the game as well. With some catchy tunes to accompany you on your journey, routes can become quite a pleasure to pass through. ...Unless it's Route 217 on Sinnoh. What are your favorite route melodies in the series? Team Rocket Boss: Giovanni Admins: Archer, Ariana, Proton, Petrel Origin: Kanto Most known for their takeover of the Johto radio tower, Team Rocket can appear like bumbling idiots, but the higher ups are sneaky, successful criminals. They’ve done murders and trafficking of illegal substances. Their boss was once a gym leader in Kanto, and he balanced that with his criminal enterprise shockingly well. He once had a lover: a redheaded Silph Co secretary named Roselle. She did a good job of hiding the relationship from her coworkers. But when she became pregnant, she knew the secret would be out if she didn’t act fast. She quit her job, fled the city of Saffron, and changed her name to Scarlet. Giovanni allowed her to live with him in his mansion. He actually looked forward to having a child, someone he could train to follow in his footsteps someday. The child was born with his mother’s fiery colored hair, and piercing silver eyes from a more distant ancestor, so he was named Silver. But Giovanni thought the eye color came from elsewhere...he thought Roselle/Scarlet had cheated on him. The resulting rage from him made her take the baby and run. She fled to Johto and settled in Cherrygrove, where Silver grew into a troubled teen due to the lack of a father figure in his life. The highest ranking admins are Archer and Ariana. Archer is Giovanni’s right hand man. Cold and calculating, he comes up with quite a few ideas for heists that Giovanni likes. The infamous Lake of Rage incident with the red gyarados was his idea. Ariana has the men in the team wrapped around her finger. She’s a femme fatale type who can make a male Rocket grunt do anything she wants with just a sultry gaze and a command. It only works on the grunts though, Giovanni’s immune to it and Archer will just try to argue with her the majority of the time. Ariana's act normally works on Petrel because he's somewhat gullible and dimwitted, and worked on Proton just once, but not any more. Proton is almost constantly trying to stop Petrel from letting her manipulate him. It's unknown why Giovanni keeps Petrel in his rank, but he must have his reasons. Team Magma Boss: Maxie Admins: Tabitha, Courtney Origin: Hoenn Team Magma is a small nuisance to law enforcement, they haven’t done anything more major than robbing banks and stealing vehicles. There are rumors of them being violent, but they have yet to be proven. Their boss is a sharp dressed business man, but surprisingly, he began life in the Fallarbor countryside as part of a farm family. His parents expected him to inherit the farm, but Maxie was more ambitious. He went to college and got a degree in enviromental studies. Meanwhile his parents’ farming business went under, they couldn’t afford to keep it going with the rising prices of everything. It was then that Maxie started the team. His main dream of expanding the landmass goes along with his rural roots. If there’s more land, there will be more space and opportunity for the agriculture industry. This is in direct opposition to Team Aqua. The two teams clash and sometimes they get violent and there has been a few fatalities. Admin Tabitha is a man with a temper to match his height. Maxie often uses him as someone who “gets rid of obstacles”, meaning he sends him out to deal with people who become direct threats to the team. He’s loyal like a mightyena, complete with the “fangs”. The other admin is a woman named Courtney, who is well educated like Maxie and helps him with the tech, blueprints, etc. She’s loyal too, but prefers to let others do the dirty work. Team Aqua Boss: Archie Admins: Matt, Shelly Origin: Hoenn Unlike their rival, Team Aqua is a good sized nuisance. They act like pirates, terrorizing anyone on a boat or in the water and sometimes they use force to steal a boat they like. The coast guard has to deal with their antics. Their boss, Archie, is a rough and tumble former sailor. He grew up in Slateport and fell in love with the sea. All life comes from the sea, so he wants to see it expanded, and despite his underlings stealing fishing boats, he's pro fisherman. He seems to go back and forth on the welfare of sea pokemon, however. He calls things like tentacools and anything that steals fish from nets "pests", wailmers are "big and stupid", but sharpedos are "noble predators". Archie once saved the life of a shipwrecked man who washed up on the coast of an island outside of Slateport. He found him unconscious and arranged for him to be airlifted to the nearest hospital. The man didn't remember where he came from, but he remembered his name was Matt. Matt figured he owed Archie his eternal gratitude and is now an Aqua admin. He works beside Admin Shelly, a fisherman's daughter who has always been a rebel at heart. Team Galactic Boss: Cyrus Admins: Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Charon Origin: Sinnoh A team that focuses on space, energy, and the like. They're viewed mostly as a "weird cult" and aren't usually taken seriously. They steal pokemon and can get violent, but mostly they just do rituals to appease their "dark lord Giratina", which sometimes, but not always, require a sacrificial pokemon victim. Some people think they sacrifice humans, but this has yet to be proven. Their boss was an orphan, and has always been antisocial. When he was growing up in foster care he spent the majority of the time holed up by himself reading about the wonders of the universe. As an adult, Cyrus is still interested in outer space and the energy that comes from it, solar energy etc. All the electricity Team Galactic uses comes from solar panels. They scoff at coal and even wind power. When someone gets an admin role in Team Galactic, they get a code name related to space. The highest ranking admins are Slater "Saturn" and Marion "Mars". Their son Merc, short for Mercury, is closer to his parents than to the Galactic boss, but that's expected, Cyrus has never liked kids, even though Merc is a teen now. Mars is the dominant one in the relationship, her temper can be short and she's generally not as calm as Saturn or even their son. She was promoted first and bonded with Saturn over their duties and his way up the ranks. He's more passive, but has a slight ego. His talent speaks for itself, he was made an admin for that sole reason. The other two admins are Charles "Charon" and Jewel "Jupiter". Charon is the oldest, older than even Cyrus by a decade or two. He's bitter at having "young whippersnappers" being the higher ranked admins, but perfectly fine with Cyrus where he is. He spends most of his time doing anything science related and normally leads the research projects. Jupiter keeps to herself mostly and it's clear that she and Mars don't get along, rumored to be because she was interested in Saturn and didn't get him, but they clashed even before that. Team Plasma Boss: Ghetsis Admins: Zinzolin, Gorm, Bronius, Rood, Giallo, Ryoku Origin: Unova Team Plasma claims to be against pokemon cruelty, saying it's cruel to be a trainer, but they are trainers too. In reality they're just saying "nobody but us should be allowed to train pokemon". People see them as the hypocrites they are. They steal pokemon and attempt to spread their propaganda through intimidation. Their boss is a sly one with many layers. He once adopted an orphan and named him Natural Harmonia, N for short. Ghetsis raised N to believe he was his birth father. The boy was pampered and his head was filled with the false goals of Team Plasma, the liberation of all pokemon. In reality Ghetsis was aiming for world domination, being the power hungry man he is. N eventually found out the truth, fled the team, and was labeled as a traitor. He aims to help pokemon in his own way. Ghetsis doesn't pursue him, he doesn't see him as enough of a threat, just a disobedient little scamp who's not worth it. Ghetsis, along with the admins, were once called the "seven sages". N was the leader before he left, or rather he was being groomed to be. Out of the remaining six, Zinzolin has the most authority and acts as Ghetsis' second in command. He shares his sly and manipulative nature. Team Flare Boss: Lysandre Admins: Xerosic, Aliana, Bryony, Celosia, Mable Origin: Kalos A team with a big ego, they aim to "make the world beautiful" and shun anything they find ugly. According to them, some people are better/more beautiful than others. The best kind of people in their eyes have light skin and bright, exotic looking natural hair colors. Reds and oranges are the best of the best. Nobody who doesn't fit those standards can join, and there's also a high entry fee. Their boss, Lysandre, was born to a rich couple who owned multiple cafes in Lumiose. He was an only child because his parents had fertility issues, and he was two months early and tiny and weak. His parents spoiled him rotten and he grew up believing he could do no wrong and the world should bow down to rich people such as himself. He only had one close friend, Xerosic, who also had rich parents. That was until they made a business deal with someone from Johto. The plan was to joint own their company and both sides would get a profit, but the Johto native ripped them off and they no longer own the company and get no profit from it. The incident made Lysandre and Xerosic begin to see other regions' natives as slimey, untrustable, inferior people. Team Flare mainly operates in Kalos and attacks tourists, sometimes with words, sometimes physically with anything from fists to knives to guns. They have an interest in going elsewhere, but see their home region as the most beautiful. Team Skull Boss: Guzma Admin: Plumeria Origin: Alola The least organized team, it's more like a group of troublemaking street urchins than anything. They do vandalism, shoplifting, sometimes drug dealing, and assaults. Many members come from broken homes and foster care, but some are just rebels with a "f the police" attitude. The only admin is the daughter of a biker who gets in trouble with the law himself at times. The leader had a rough childhood, with an alcoholic father and a mother who was too meek and passive to do anything to make the situation better. Guzma and Plumeria met at an early age and have always been close. Guzma started the team in his late teenage years as a way to lash out at everyone who had made his life miserable: his parents and the authority figures who constantly called him things like "rotten kid" and "little punk". He made Plumeria his second in command for obvious reasons. Their relationship is strictly platonic. He expressed an interest in her once by using a stupid pick up line, but she was seeing someone else at the time. She's single now but he just sees her as a trusted ally these days.

So, as I do every year between 25th and 31st december, I restarted Pokémon Ranger: Shadows on Almia. It's like the 7th or 8th time that I replay it and every time I enjoy it a lot. However, after 2 days of casual playing I completed the Heatran mission and got that pinky thing that tries to suicide in the sea Mime jr. I saw, some time ago, a lot of mediocre votes across the internet for this game, but I actually think that it has a really good gameplay (I actually would define this an arcade, basing on the capture system) and has both an enjoyable story and well-designed dungeons. In reality I think that in a near future I'll take the project and realize a Pokémon Ranger 4 with Bidoofy Pyukumukus since there is really a lot of material from the last 3 generations to work with. You might now think "what's this topic point? Is this guy talking about his ideas or his project or what?", well, I'm here to just ask your considerations on this series for spare talking while I play: do you think like me that Ranger is underrated? Or that it is just random circling crap? Which flaws do you think should be fixed?

Developed for over 8 years, this ROM hack of Pokemon Crystal was shut down 5 days ago by Nintendo. Luckily, leakers managed to get a copy of the hack from December 19th, with the game being almost complete, and it's been spreading around the internet for a while. I don't know too much about it beyond a few very cool features, so let's begin!

Day one hacking, hooray.

So as the title suggests, this post is for a pair of Pokémon stories. I like Fire Emblem, but I'm also a huge Pokémon fan, so I'll probably be posting a lot of Pokémon stories here too. But the stories are short one shots, so they are posted together despite being very different. The first, His Dream, is an AU of the Pokémon Anime. To say more would be spoilers, but I will say that the story focuses on Ash and Pikachu, and contains major spoilers for the Black and White arc. This story was also written about four years ago, and since then a sequel has been requested. However, as of this writing, no sequel has been made. I finally reached the Victory Road in Pokemon Blaze Black 2 (A difficulty/rebalance hack.) and I would like SF to choose my final team. I've put the names of all the Pokemon I currently have in my PC into a poll, so please vote for the ones you like best. You can choose multiple Pokemon, by the way. I'll just take a look at the poll later on today and round up which ones have the most votes so I can train them (If necessary.) and place them on my final team. Thanks. P.S. I was wondering what you guys think about the new upcoming Sun & Moon anime... I don't really follow the pokémon anime anymore, but from what I've gathered the X&Y series were (generally) positively received and considered a step in the right direction. I can't help but be a bit concerned when looking at this trailer... I guess I should applaud the fact that they're trying to change the formula after all these years, but I think many fans are going to be disappointed when it comes to the more simplistic artstyle (which reminds me of Yo-kai watch) and the new story concept that seems to be targeted to a even younger audience than the one right now. Of course there are a lot of things we don't know yet, so maybe it is too soon to draw conclusions? Is there still interest from older fans towards the anime? Maybe Game Freak is trying to split their viewers into two age groups, 'Pokémon Generations' catering towards an older audience and the core series towards a younger one? Let the speculation and or discussion commence! P.S. I'm aware of the fact that the Pokémon sub-forum is listed under 'general gaming' and that this topic covers the anime and not a game. But in my eyes, this place still seemed the best location to post this thread. Also I do not own or made the featured video, that honor goes to youtuber giancarloparimango11.

I've been looking into doing some Monotype challenges for the various pokemon generations, now assuming little to no grinding generally, what do you lot think would be the hardest Monotype per Gen? The one on my mind is like Grass in Gen 2, because while you can get the 6 grass types fairly early, they are kinda mediocre and Johto stuff tends to hate Grass in general lmao, but I was wondering what the rest of you thought on that and the other generations.
