  1. So, I've worked on a Fire Emblem: Dark Dragon and the Sword of Light translation patch using the old translation patch as a base. I know the first game is "inferior" to its remakes, but I still enjoy the retro feel of the game. For this patch I'm using the North American Shadow Dragon character and weapon names (e.i. Caeda, Jagen, Draug), I also changed the font to the font used in Earthbound Beginnings. Here's the current patch Beta 4
  2. Edit (2/22/2022) I've just created a major update to this retranslation! This should fix a great number of bugs present in the original. I've also revised some of my previous translations choices for accuracy. You should definitely use this version instead, which is now also being hosted here until the RHDN page is updated. The numerous revisions this version has undergone may have resulted in a few bugs slipping through the cracks. Please let me know as soon as possible if you encounter a game-breaking bug! Newest release here: https://www.romhacking.net/translations/6087/ Hello! I just thought I should get the word out there. I've created a brand new translation of the first Fire Emblem game. The two main goals of this project were: 1. Accuracy: This translation tries to remain as faithful to the original Japanese as possible. To this end, the Mystery of the Emblem Book 1 script was used for reference and as a base. However, I also checked it against the original Japanese text and did some translation of my own in the content that wasn't featured in that remake. I also made a few edits for accuracy, like changing "Big Bro" to "Chief". The official localization terms were used only where accurate and appropriate, and I tried to find a middle ground where I could. 2. Expansion: I did some ASM hacking to allow the game to store a lot more text, so very little remains abridged or cut. Also, I expanded the text windows to fit as much text as possible on the screen. Here's some screenshots for comparison with the old translation. I also did a trailer as a parody of the Switch "translation, which shows the translation in action here: Your feedback is appreciated!
  3. Hello! I've been working on some hacking of Fire Emblem 1. I'm currently struggling with how to modify which character can recruit another. There's nothing in the enemy data for it, and searching for CMP #$02 (Compare to Sheeda's character index, for recruiting Navarre), and looking some of the ASM code that's triggered when checking adjacent spaces to the moved unit, but to no avail. Anyone have any information on this? Is there a table somewhere with all recruit check indexes?
  4. Hi everyone! I haven't been active on here unfortunately. I'm hyping the FE1 localisation so I made this remix :)) I hope you could enjoy this!
  5. Now that I am all done with Thracia I decided to start with FE 1. I have finished the first chapter and would like to ask a few questions about the game mechanics: 1. How does doubling work in this game? Do I just need to have more speed than the enemy? 2. Can I somehow view weapon stats inside the game? Or do I have to google those? D: 3. Is it worthwhile to try and level-up stave users? Since they can only level-up by being attacked this seems like an extreme, and dangerous, chore. Also I don't know much about the viability of the units so I am going to go with whoever I like best, so far focusing my efforts on Marth and Sheeda. Other than that it is funny that after playing games from SNES era it is much easier to jump back to NES games than it was originally. One of the reasons I decided to start with FE4 before was that the NES games felt way too old/clunky, so I guess it was too big of a jump all at once. Right now the game doesn't feel nearly as bad as it did at the beginning and I think I can enjoy it a lot. :D

First this: And now this: Where's all this Wrys love coming from lol? Is it just a coincidence? Or is it because somebody at IS decided Wrys needed more love? What are your thoughts?
