  1. Copied this from FEU. Yes, just as the title says, what sort of tips and advice can you guys provide for how to better oneself to be a better Fire Emblem player? Edit: To be more specific, I mean improving on strategy, item management, which stat matters the most, what items should my units have, etc. Edit 2: To be a little more clear, I’m very good at it myself, this post was just for my friends and family that are interested at getting better.-MegaCowsamMan
  2. I finally began my first playthrough of Fire Emblem Engage, and I just completed chapter 3. For this playthrough, I don't intend on using any of the DLC with the sole exception of the Tiki Emblem, which I intend to give to Alear since I feel that Alear should've been given a dragon form. I do intend on later doing another playthrough that uses all the DLC. I picked normal difficulty since it's been a while since I played a Fire Emblem game and I went with casual mode, despite my preferring classic mode in FE games, because the ability to freely save is often tied to casual mode for some reason. Since this is my first playthrough, is there anything I should know in advance?
  3. So I'm going to play FE6 now. I don't know much information about the game, or know all the characters, therefore I need help in order to play this game. So, here's what I know: Wendy and Sophia suck, but I'll still try to use them(although it'd be a waste of time) Axe wielding characters are not that great, because the game is biased towards swords and lances(?), but I may be wrong here. Milady is awesome, Roy is not that good. Zephiel's the baddie. Legendary weapons are to be found in order to get the true ending. Yeah, that's what i know so far. In all honestly, I'm not expecting much from this game, but who knows, this might turn out fun Thanks in advance for all the advice.
  4. So... I recently posted on the Conquest board about my current Hard/Casual file, and was asking for some help on it. And well, I managed to complete that map, but now I'm having trouble on the next. This is somewhat of a reoccurring problem (struggling greatly on map after map), and I feel like I should try getting more help on the center of the issue. One of the reasons why I joined this site was to ask this question, since there aren't that many on sites that I browse, and the only other place I could think to ask was the FE subreddit on Reddit, but this site is FE focused, so I figured that this would be a better place to try asking this again. I feel like I've struggled with strategy games for quite a while, I tend not to think multiple turns in advance, or even one turn, and make very major mistakes that gets units killed. I'd have to reload several times on maps to avoid losing a single unit, while I feel like others don't have the same issue. Because they have more skill for sure (and experience), but I was wondering if there was any way I could achieve the same thing. I had played Dark Souls, I beat it and came out literally refined and better able to handle what was considered "the hardest game of all time". Does something like Dark Souls of strategy games exist that will make me become a better strategist, or should I just focus on getting more experience by playing and beating harder difficulties in FE games (like a unit, ironically lmao)? There is also a video that mentions FE12's first chapters and how they will make you a better player, should I consider trying those?
  5. I love Smash Bros to Death. Remember playing 64 in the 90s. I still remember that famous Commercial. However I had a question I wanted to know. Are discussions of Smash Mods allowed on this Forum? I'm not talking stuff like Nude Mods, or something immoral. I mean like Gameplay Modifications. Project M is the most famous of which. I was planning on sharing my fellow fans of Smash a Mod I am following intensely for the Original Game on the Nintendo 64. Smash Remix. For those of you WHO KNOW about Smash Remix you guys might know WHY I wanted to share it with you guys. I just want to make sure it's allowed to talk about Mods for Smash here.
  6. Just looking for some advice on doing an ironman run of Conquest on Hard mode. (In case you didn't know, ironman means no resetting under any circumstances, and if I get a game over due to my avatar dying or me failing a specific map objective, the run is over.) Examples of things I'm looking for: -Avatar builds -Which characters are worth using and investing into -How to deal with death/permanent injury -Utilizing DLC items (only the free stuff like the Exalt and Hero Brands and the gifts from Anna) -General strategy -Good couples -Building support -When to recruit children -Best generic units to capture and where to find them -Forging
  7. So yeah... Fates is my first step into the land of the 3DS games, and only my 3rd FE game overall. My first 2 were Path of Radiance, followed by it’s sequel Radiant Dawn, and I’ve enjoyed these SO much that I really wanted to check out more of the series. Anyways, after a bit of research.. I ended up going with Conquest, as I personally found even Radiant dawn a bit too easy, even on hard mode (it was more annoying than hard, considering no enemy attack range, but w/e), and wanted a challenge. However, I feel I might be regretting my choice, not because I’m worried about the game being too hard, but because I have literally no experience with these game mechanics. So what I’m trying to figure out, and would like to know more about is the following: 1) How important is utilizing the pair-up and attack stance mechanics? Like is the game strictly balanced around using these as much as possible? 2) In regards to pair-up and attack stance.. let me know if I’m understanding it correctly. - For pair-up, you pair-up via in the ingame command, and upon pairing up.. you gain stat boosts (based on your support level with the unit you are paired with, along with additional stats based on units class). There is also some meter that builds up (how exactly does this fill up, is it based on attacking/per turn?), and when maxed, it automatically activates on your next battle negating all damage. I believe that’s extent of my knowledge on pair-up, if there is anymore mechanics/benefits that revolve around pair-up.. please let me know. - As for attack stance, this is automatically activated as long as you are adjacent to an ally unit, and when entering a battle, the unit you are adjacent to will also unleash an attack. I believe that’s the extent of my knowledge on attack stance. Does support bonuses also affect attack stance (or the units class?)? What dictates the amount damage that the non-lead unit will deal? Can the non-lead unit activate/proc combat skills? I’m assuming all weapon triangle advantage/disadvantage and weapon effectiveness is taken into account for the non lead unit? Who gets the bulk of the exp... the lead unit, or the one who dealt the final blow? 3) Promotion, seals, and so on. This part I’m completely lost on. I’ve tried reading into it, and instead I manage to get even more confused. If somebody can please explain to me how leveling and promotion works, along with a gist of how all the seals work, or even link me to something that does.. I’d really appreciate it. I don’t know if this is true or not, but it seems like it is incredibly easy to mess something up considering all the different avenues you can take in regards to promotion and using seals, and how and which skills you acquire and so on... and I’d like to benefit from these things as much as possible. 4) Is there a “calculations” page somewhere that I can refer to? On the main page of serenesforest.com, when choosing the 2 games I previously played (PoR & RD), there was a calculations tab that told me how hit rate/avoid is calculated, how attack speed is calculated along with the doubling threshold and so on. I don’t know where to look for any of this information all in one spot. In game it tells me you need 5 more speed than your enemy to double, but how is speed calculated in this game.. if the weapons don’t have weight? Is it just my listed speed value with no further calculation? Does Awakening and Fates use similar calculations, and if so.. can I just refer to the calculations tab on the awakening section? 5) The weapon triangle. I understand how it works in regards to: Swords/Magic > Axes/Bows > Lance/Hidden Weapons > Sword/Magic, what I want to know is what is the WTA/WTD in this game? 6) If there is any other general information, tips, or advice... or anything that will help for a first time playthrough, that would be absolutely awesome and much appreciated. Such as building supports, best weapons, good units, good skills, good classes, and so on. I’ve been trying to look for all this information, so I am sorry if it’s readily available, it’s just I keep finding basic guides of things I already know, or I find something else that just makes things even more complicating after reading it. Thing is I when play games like this, I like knowing how everything works and how my stats are calculated, and so on, so serenesforest has been a god send for me, but there seems to be a lack of general information on this game and I feel like I’m at the point where it’s not even worth getting into and checking out older FE titles instead. Or maybe I should play Awakening first to get a feel for the newer mechanics? I don’t know. Seriously, any help would be greatly appreciated, as I really want to give this game a chance as the the art style looks amazing to me, it seems to have a lot of depth (which I like, as long as I understand how everything is working), and it’s suppose to present good challenging gameplay.. which are all things I look for in a game like this. Thanks in advance to anyone that goes out of their way to leave a comment, and I apologize for asking so many questions at once.
  8. Hello again! I’ve made a few posts within the last few days in regards to some questions/advice and so on, so I apologize if these have been brought up time and time again, it’s just hard to find direct answers to specific questions in regards to RD. And with RD only being my second FE game there is a lot of stuff going on.. at-least from my perspective (which I actually really enjoy). With that said, I’m currently on part 2, and I’m looking into how to get items out of part 2 into part 3 efficiently. I also have a few other questions in regards to chapter advice/strategy, BEXP, and unit viability. So here is what I’m curious about: 1) I am currently on part 2 CH.3 (2.3), the “Geoffrey’s Charge” chapter. Now from looking at the availability chart, it seems like you don’t have access to any of the characters from 2.3 (Geoffrey’s Crew) whilst at the base during 2.E. So what I want to know is, do my units in 2.E have access to everything I put in the convoy in 2.3? For example, can I take Geoffrey’s brave lance from 2.3, stash it in the convoy, and then access said brave lance in 2.E convoy and equip it on say.. Nephenee? Or does Geoffrey and Elincia’s units/team have different convoys? 2) Now I’ve also heard that some items in part 2 are rather useful in part 3 (the hammer you can buy from the bargains in 2.3 for example, along with stat boosters). I’m wondering what’s the most efficient way to get items that I want from part 2 into part 3? So back to question 1, can I just stash the hammer (among other items I want) from 2.3, and load em onto Haar/Neph/Brom/Heather from the convoy in 2.E? Or should I load up Marcia during 2.3 (as I heard she joins in on Elincia the first turn of 2.E) and when she joins trade it to Haar, Nephenee, and Brom? Or is this something that’s not even that beneficial and it’s not worth going through the hassle? 3) Back to Chapter 2.3: Geoffrey’s Charge. I’ve been trying to maximize BEXP by killing the least amount of enemies as possible. My current strategy is utilizing the reinforcements by having them charge up as meat shields (by targeting an area so they only do damage on enemy phase) and bringing up Kieran, Geoffrey, Makalov, Devdan, and Marcia to cut off chokepoints and use as additional meat-shields, and only killing enemies if I’m fully boxed in. My issue is every time I get close to the boss (which I get there fairly quick) everything just becomes so cluttered and I’m forced to kill quite a few enemies just so I can get to the door/boss, so I end up restarting (I’m playing on normal atm, but I avoid battle save for the extra challenge). I feel like I could just take the small BEXP loss by killing the enemies and go straight for the boss, but then I miss out on the stat booster from the enemy. So any advice or tips for this chapter to maximize BEXP gains and get the stat booster from the enemy would be awesome. 4) Lastly, some questions on BEXP and units. Once I successfully finish 2.3, I’m going to have a bunch of BEXP (I earned max BEXP on the other chapters up until this point), and I’m wondering what should I do with it? Should I spend it all prior to 2.E, or should I just hold onto it until it eventually pools together with everyone else? With that said.. if I was to spend any, who is worth using it on in part 2? I am really enjoying Nephenee (regret not using her in PoR as I feel like a speed boost would be really good for her), I loved Marcia in PoR (and I capped 4 stats on her for the data transfer but didn’t realize you had to be 20/20!!) but she doesn’t feel as powerful as she was (although it’s probably because it’s still early) and I know Haar is a straight beast, so are they worth dumping it on.. or should I just keep saving it? Okay, so I think that’s it. Once again, I do apologize if these are repeated questions, as I did try googling extensively for these and found so many mixed results or halfway answers. The thing is I really enjoy maximizing my gameplay, and as soon as I finish RD on normal I’m jumping straight into HM and want to be as optimized as possible for this run and my next run. So any answers, advice, and so on would be much appreciated and want to thank anyone in advance that does comment. But yeah, I’m truly glad I got into fire emblem, and have been having a blast with PoR & RD, and I can’t wait to try out some other titles. Any recommendations for which FE to play after RD (preferably one with a good storyline and challenging gameplay) would be awesome. Thanks again!
  9. Hello! This is my first playthrough, and just have a few questions in regards to the end of part 1 and taking advantage of Ilyana to load up items with. So I’m getting ready to finish part 1, and from my understanding Ilyana joins up with another group (not sure which group, as I’ve been trying to avoid story spoilers). And I just have a few questions of how to take advantage of this: 1) When do I load up Ilyana with the items I want to transfer? Do I have to do this before jumping in to the endgame chapter, or do you get access to the base again after the chapter? 2) With that said, what items should I transfer? I’m guessing money related stuff such as gems or useless skill scrolls? Besides that, is there any skills that the DB doesn’t really need, that the group Ilyana goes to can benefit from? What about weapons? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. 3) This next one is actually off-topic, but I’m just wondering if there is any AR/Gecko codes out there that allow you to toggle enemy attack ranges when playing on hard mode? If anybody knows of any, or if there is any way to view enemy attack ranges on hard mode, please let me know! So yeah.. I think that’s pretty much it. Just want to thank you in advance if you took the time to comment and leave me some advice, it’s much appreciated!
  10. Hello! I am rather new to FE series as a whole, with my first game being Path of Radiance. I’m rounding out the game now, I’m at chapter 25 as I type this up. When I complete PoR (which should be tonight if I have time), I am without a doubt going to be continuing the story and jumping right into Radiant Dawn.. as I am absolutely in-love with the world, story, lore, characters and everything else related to PoR (seriously this is one of the few video game stories that actually has me very intrigued and I love all the twists and turns!). Now with that said, and with me being incredibly new to the series, I have a handful of questions in regards to Radiant Dawn. I apologize in advance if these are all well known, or I could’ve found this information (I did try googling and searching through here for answers) elsewhere. Well, onto my questions: 1) First is difficulty. I found Path of Radiance incredibly easy (played on hard mode), and I really hope Radiant Dawn presents more of a challenge. I am the type of person who does a lot of thinking/strategizing each turn and takes my time to make sure my units will be protected/not die (I inspect enemy units and compared AS to see if I’m going to get doubled among other stats, check enemy attack ranges to see how many enemies will be able to hit me and so on), as if I lose even one unit, no matter who it is, I reset. So how does Radiant Dawn difficulty compare to PoR, in regards to someone who found PoR hard mode incredibly easy (like really easy as I’m sure most people did). Plus I really enjoy difficult games, as long as the difficulty is “fair” and not nonsensical and headache inducing. What is a good starting difficulty for RD? 2) Next is how stats work. Like I said, I’m rather new to the FE series, and it took me sometime to figure out what each stat does and how they affect my units and the battle. More or less what I want to know is, do stats function the same from one FE game to the next, and more importantly from PoR to RD? For example; Is it always 4 or more attack speed to double? Does Luck/Skill have the same function as providing avoid/hit and bonus critical stats? And so on and so forth. 3) Now I’ve been doing some looking into Radiant Dawn, and I’m a little confused as to how the game plays out. From my understanding, there is 4 separate “parts” or sections, and each section only has specific units that are playable? If that’s so; - How does BEXP, money, weapons, stat boosters, and other items work when going from part to part? Is it ideal to just use everything up before going to the next part or do the items/BEXP carry over? - Is it even worth getting attached/investing into certain units? Meaning do you get full access to all the units by the end of the game, and if not does the game let you know beforehand that you won’t have access to the certain units later on.. so you don’t waste resources on them? 4) Lastly, and I’m sorry if this isn’t the place to ask for this, but does anyone have a working iso/wtsb (or whatever else works for dolphin) of FE: Radiant Dawn? I’ve been looking literally everywhere (vimmrs lab, reddit, other forum posts, and so on) for a functional copy of the game. Every copy I find does not work with Dolphin, as I got error messages that pop that say I’m missing files, and when I open the game it just stays on a pure black screen. Also in the emulator itself, no artwork image appears and I have just a giant X for the artwork image instead. If anybody knows any work around in the settings to get the game to work that I can try, I would truly appreciate it, same goes for a functional iso download as well. So yeah.. I’m pretty sure that’s it. My main concern is honestly getting Radiant Dawn to work in the first-place, but if anyone can answers my other questions I’d really appreciate it. Also any general advice for Radiant Dawn would be awesome as well, such as good units, skills to use, good supports, and/or any tips and tricks would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help with the above! Really regret skipping past FE over the years, and I’m really looking forward to catching up and playing all of them eventually!
  11. I would like to have 2 healers on my team and I know that mists mounted healing is extremely useful, so I wondering if I should sacrifice all 800 of my Bexp in order to be able to give her a master seal and get her functioning, or should I beef up other units who need it like Jill and Marcia? I really don’t plan on using master seals on anyone but mist and Rhys as I just don’t find it wise for stats, but I have several units who could really use the Bexp but at the same time I have just the right amount to make my mist fully functioning as a mounted healing unit
  12. I've heard some games are tedious or don't make any sense in their hardest difficulty (I remember Awakening and Shadow Dragon), so what's the highest difficulty that you recommend for each game you've played?
  13. Short story shorter: I'm borrowing my cousin's copy of Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest for a few months (her "borrowing" my copy of Kid Icarus: Uprising for five years may or may not have anything to do with it), and I'm curious if there are any general tips or advice I should know before diving in. For reference, I have completed ironman runs of Awakening on both the Normal and Hard difficulties (and the first Normal run was technically a no-grinding run, even if in truth I did it four times. To be fair, two of them were getting to shops that I wanted to buy from, and another was to test out support facts from the site), as well as Echoes on Normal and Hard (does it count as an ironman if everyone survived and I never resetted, but still used the turnwheel?). I've also tried Mystery of the Emblem, Blazing Sword, and Sacred Stones, but my emulator crapping out prevented me from getting far in any of them. I have experience with this series, but I'm not all that knowledgeable on the specifics of what Fates does differently. I know that they changed how pair-up works, the reclassing system is expanded upon, there are still children, and weapons don't have durability but instead have drawbacks, but other than that I know next to nothing about Fates. Also, is there anything I should brace myself in regards to the story, supports, and characters? I don't want spoilers, but I know that Fates is infamous for its... let's say lackluster story, and I want to know what to prepare myself for. This is coming from the guy that thought that Awakenings story was alright (personally believe it's over-hated, but at the end of the day it's merely average) and that its cast and supports are underrated (although I can understand why some don't feel/think the same way). I also liked Echoes plot (although I will also be among the first to admit that it is very, very flawed) and enjoyed the characters. I admit I don't have the highest hopes with Fates in the writing department, but I'm also going to decide for myself how good or bad its quality is. Thanks in advance!
  14. GBA portraits are cool! I try to make some! And I fail miserably because the optical illusion stuff throws me off. How do their anime eyes work??? I can draw well enough but this is something entirely different altogether, so please, advice would be cool! Or anything else. I’m really having trouble figure out the gba fire emblem style, is the thing. Top one is most recent, bottom one was my first real attempt. And yee they’re all my own OCs lol

    Sprite opinion

I'm new to making sprites so i was looking for advice on how to make a few sprites I've been tinkering with for a few days but im not sure how to best approach making them the best that they can be, 1 is a sprite for a video project my friend and i are working on, the other was my attempt at making a manga character (you could probably guess who) So how do i best approach the problems that are curretly present in them to have them reach the best they could get?
  16. I thought that this wasn't weighty enough for the Serious Discussion forums, but I still want legitimate answers. What are some tips, advice, and habits you have for going to bed on time to get enough sleep for the next day, as well as waking up at an assigned time without snoozing or accidentally going back to sleep? For the full (and very long) story of why I'm asking this: The Short Version:
  17. Hey guys, I started my first playthrough of Stardew Valley (loving it btw) and I decided to specialize in artisan goods. Does anyone have some tips for how to build up to that? I do love RF/HM games- I’m just not the best at them sometimes... Some info about my farm: I’m a few days shy of fall I have about $22000 Have all tools upgraded once I have the forest farm Should I buy a coop or barn? Make more jams? Any advice is appreciated!
  18. I need help deciding how to use my feathers. I have enough to get any one unit to 5* and between my 4* and 3* units, I have most characters. My 5* units currently consist of: Sannaki, Hector, Effie, Jaffar, Martin, Roy, Leo, Xander(spring edition :() Camilla, Sheena, Kain, Abel, Lucious, Charlotte, and Lachesis. Please take the units I have at 5 into consideration and give me some advice on who to promote!
  19. Hi, everyone: As most of you know, Fire Emblem Heroes is down for maintenance, and I already have an overload of hype for the upcoming Fire Emblem game; so this is a serious case of overhype without a cure I can think of. I'm out of ideas and fear I might go crazy before heroes goes back online. Any suggestions on what I should do to curb this hype? I've tried playing chess on an 6 X 8 grid (assigning statistics to each piece), playing the original Gaiden, and attempting to keep my mind occupied with other activities. Thank you for keeping my sanity in check better than (Fates Spoiler). Edit: Maintenance is over. Thank you for all your suggestions! If you read further into the post, there will be mention of a story I wrote. Here's a link to it. The Pineamato and the Failed Culinary Experiment
  20. Well, I got Lyn to level 20. I can get her promoted through the Heaven Seal, but could I later promote Hector, or will it be automatic for him or something. Basically what I'm saying is, will there be more than one Heaven Seal? If not, will Hector have an automatic promotion later on like Eliwood would? Furthermore, should I give a body ring to Lyn, in hopes that increasing her constitution can maker her use the Sol Katti without AS penalty?
  21. I'm asking for advice for making Custom character portraits for rom hacking How do you guys do it? and give any other tips you have for rom hacking if you want
  22. I have renamed this thread to better suit what I need from it/what it is used for. Welcome to my Sprite of Threads, before I get a thousand comments on the name I KNOW IT'S WRONG. I just like the joke XD. I used to call all thread of sprites this. Not sure why. First of is Red, to be used in my FE hack Draconic Unity with the following description "Kayla's recently recruited retainer. King, honest, and loyal." Though not mentioned, he is intended to be of the Lucius archetype- so he was intended to look feminine (and I used Lucius' face for it.) Next is Zev. Zev is the OTHER retainer to Kayla (who you shouldn't of seen yet), and has a description as follows. "A Wyvern rider from Solara serving as Kayla's retainer. Knowledgeable, but inexperienced." He is of the Red Knight archetype, but serves as a flier unit- rather than a cavalier. And finally is Naella. She is a fire-dragon Manakete, who's description isn't really confirmed yet. She is my newest sprite- so she probably will have the most critiques XD Any and all critiques are appreciated, and I'm looking forward to making more mugs (and some battle sprites) in the future. New one, this is Kayla who I'm not really going to describe too much, but she is intended to be a bow lord. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Animations/Battle Sprites Here is where all my battle sprites and animations are. If any of them are obvious recolors of a preexisting one- then I obviously don't own the original sprite (unless it actually is a custom one I made, lol). If I borrow anyone's custom sprite, I will do my best to make sure I can cite them. If I fail to or cite them wrong, kindly let me know and I will fix it. Red (Sword) - Recruit (Base) The (partially) custom animation for Red's recruit class. Since this 'Recruit' class is horse back and uses swords, I decided to base it off of the Cavalier class. The sword is Eirika's recolored. If I happened to use too many colors, please let me know as I lack the program needed (and/or the knowledge to use one I have to find it) to find out- though I try to make sure to the best of my ability to not use too many.
  23. Hello all, I recently got into a bit of a dilemma with a person who I thought was a friend. As the title says, this is going to be a little long, so brace yourselves. For the better part of a year, I've been working with some wonderful people, and although our job doesn't pay a livable wage, we still had a pretty good time. I managed to make a few friends, including one young woman person whom I considered a best friend (since I don't have many close friends). The young woman whom I became close friends with has two children, and oftentimes, she needs additional money to take care of them. The father of her children is not very active in her children's lives—and in many cases, is antagonistic towards her. From what I'm led to believe, they've been in physical altercations, for example. Naturally, I wanted to help her out, so I gave her money from time to time, and didn't worry about her paying it back. The exception to this rule would be two times when she asked me for over $100. My personal rule is that if anyone asks me for $100+, I make them sign a contract stating that they will pay me back within a certain time or face the possibility of legal action. The first time, she paid me back no problem. The second time ... Over the last couple months, I find out that my friend was pregnant again. The father is the same guy who's not reliable and antagonistic towards her. She tells me that she needs money for the abortion, which I gave to her (though not without having her sign a contract first). Shortly after that, she loses her job, so naturally, I tell her not to worry about paying me back since I know she wouldn't be able to afford to. Instead, I ask her to be my wingwoman, since I have a hard time meeting and connecting with women, so having her introduce me to women and accompany me when I'm ready to meet women in social settings would help. However, I find out through one of my other friends that she's pregnant again by the same man. At first, I just think she made a bad decision. But there's more: from what I'm led to believe, she never terminated her pregnancy. She used the money I gave her for something else. When I found this out, I was overcome with rage and grief stemming from dishonesty and betrayal. Here's the thing though, the contract states that she had to use that money for its intended purpose, and if she doesn't, I can take legal action. But should I? On one hand, I want that money back, but on the other, I just want to wash my hands of the whole thing and refrain from speaking to her again. Thanks for reading this long, drama-filled post.
  24. I'm playing Conquest (hard/classic, if it matters) and I wanna try my hand at planning ahead. Is the Lodestar class viable? I know Xander benefits from it quite a bit, but would it be acceptable to not change him into another class?
  25. Finally got a copy of Birthright yesterday (I'm fighting so hard to not spell it "birthday" on accident XD). I put it off for a bit because of life and I thought that, gameplay-wise, it would be similar to Awakening. Boy, was I WRONG! While the core mechanic of the gameplay hasn't changed much (it's a strategy game. What are you gonna do?), the difficulty level is INSANE!! Just like Awakening, I'm playing on Hard/Casual because I don't want this to be easy or lose my units. Well....it's not easy, so I got that wish granted... Let's start at the beginning of my run through so far. The starting chapter shows you the units in the game from both sides. I think that's a nice touch, now you can get to know the people you're about to kill! Quick battle intro and stuff happens, then you're brought to a fortress pillar for the first chapter where you train against Xander. ...Couldn't they have just put all this in one chapter or something? Chapter 2 begins afterward and I now have Gunter and Felicia fighting some people from Hoshido (Rinka and Kaze) I swear, these names are not easy to remember... Anyway, that's done and Chapter 3 begins and here's where things really start to get difficult. Three paths are set before me, the bridge to the north and two Dragon Vein bridges to the south. I decided to go to the Vein bridge in the middle. ...Nope. All units dead. Then I decide "Okay, let's not take a shortcut and decide to train." Bad idea. All units dead again! Going with the south-most bridge this time. Reinforcements?! REALLY? ...Alright, fourth try, here we go. Yes! FINALLY! ...Gunter, nooooooooooooo! Chapter 4 was relatively easy, as all the enemies headed north toward Hinoka and Sakura (sensing a Japanese theme here...). Ryoma makes quick work of the enemies and I was able to get to the two girls easily. Mission complete! Now for the chapter I'm currently on. Chapter 5. Wait......... my mom dies?! This game just keeps getting better.... Anyway, I'm now a dragon and EVERY STINKING ENEMY on the map is effective against me. Wyrmslayers, thunder magic... My units are terrible for some reason as they can only do 2-5 damage at one time whereas the enemy can do, like, 12. I'm the only one who can do any significant damage, but that goes both ways. To make matters worse, Ryoma is down at the bottom taking care of the boss and he goes down in two hits! It's like the game threw every challenge my way and expects me to live through it! I can't abuse Azura or Sakura because they're only level 1, and Rinka and Kaze go down just as easily. If only Felicia didn't keep dying back in Ch. 3 so I could train more, but that would've still only meant *I* have to do all the work. Is this level even possible? I was told Birthright is easier than Conquest (my brothers are screwed, then XD), but this is insane! Forget this. I'll go back to playing Awakening and training up for Apotheosis. At least I know I'll clear that map some day... EDIT: Changed topic title. Need any help? Ask for some here! EDIT2: Dun goofed the tags
