  1. [FE6] A few questions on hacking this game

Hello! I've been using this site off and on for the last month or so as I've been working on my own personal edit of The Binding Blade (to perhaps be publicized later), but I noticed more than a few things I would like to do, but which I have no idea how to do. After checking through various searches, scouring the Resource List, and browsing some of the most recent topics as well (since the resource list may not be the most up-to-date thing given the general level of activity here as of late), I've come to think that it's possible that these things just haven't been figured out yet. Which is why I wanted to ask about it, just to be sure. So, in a nutshell: 1) How would one go about adding a new class to the game, if possible? 2) Is it possible to edit the game's paired endings? I haven't been able to find a resource for this, and while FEditor's Text Editor can of course edit the text of the ending, that doesn't help me in regards to making new paired endings happen, or removing the flag for others if I hypothetically wanted to remove them. I also don't know how I'd change the portraits visible on a paired ending if I wanted to edit one. 3) Is it possible to add new Supports? Similar sort of question as the previous one. I could hard edit a set of conversations to be between two different people if I wanted, in text editor, of course. But that wouldn't make that conversation actually trigger when the involved characters are on the map together. I know the Support Editor in nightmare can allow me to set up a new support between two characters, but this on its own only results in the Support Level advancing when an attempt at a conversation is made after reaching the requisite points. I don't know how to actually point the added support towards the new text in the script. 4) Lastly, I saw a topic on removing the 5-Support limit from Fe7/Fe8, and just limiting every character to a single A Support. Has anyone figured out how to do this for Fe6 yet? That would about cover what I'd like to know, assuming anyone around here knows the answers! Would really appreciate it, especially if I've been an idiot and missed some obvious topic that shows me how to do these things.
  2. I've been editing fe6 quite a bit recently, mostly with fe_builder, I've done everything from creating new classes to modifying portraits sprites, however, I've come across an issue with the in game graphic for leveling up. I looked around quite a bit, and cannot seem to find where this graphic comes from within the game, or if it's simply somehow a palette issue. I've modified Eliwood's class and portrait here, but it happens with every character. Edit: Caused by Fe editor, which I used once, Fix here:
  3. Fire Emblem Fan Game Collaboration

Hey everyone, thinking of wanting to start a brand new fan game from the GBA era, but I’m not that good at it, group collaboration anyone?
  4. FE6 Made Easier

Hey this is Milanor here and finally, I have my first, albeit small, FE project out! I've borrowed gringe's FE localization patch in order to get the translation of the game, but most of the gameplay mechanics, and features are the same (basically vanilla FE6), the only differences are that every character's base stats and growth rates have been buffed. My inspiration for doing this is that I figured FE6 was quite punishing towards new players of the Fire Emblem series, but not only that, I wanted to make just about all the units viable and allow people to be able to use just about every unit and have an easier time with the game. I myself have played through FE6 (over a decade or more ago) and I just didn't like the unforgiving aspects of it, particularly the difficulty at the beginning of the game, midgame, and late game, so having better bases and growths will then make units that are nearly useless at least see some usefulness and the characters that are already good won't receive much of a boost. Milanor's FE6 Easier Mode Let me know what you guys think of it, I will be playing through the game myself and trying different characters on each run. If there are any bugs, errors, or oversights, feel free to post here. Also, any feedback, suggestions, and constructive criticism is appreciated!
  5. Good Fe6 Emulators?

Hey Guys, I’m new here and I can proudly say I’ve played every FE game that’s released in Europe, but I wanna play one of the fan translated emulators, so if anyone has any good link if you’d comment them I’d be really greatful :) Thank you so much for having me.
  6. Hi Milanor here, I'm new to the rom hacking community and I'm trying to figure out how to create a completely new ups patch file from a clean rom and an hex editor. My first mini project would be to create an easy mode of fe6, from the original vanilla version of the game. I have the original fresh copy of FE6, and I plan to use the nightmare editor to modify all the character's bases and growths (essentially buff them), and then creating a patch on that. The program that I'm using is NUPS which should create ups files, however, when I go to create a patch, it asks for the original file, edited file, and then the New UPS file. I'm confused about what it means since I've already have a fresh copy. Does this mean that I would first have two fresh copies of FE6 (respectively A and B where B is the edited file), then edit the B file with nightmare, then after making the changes to B, create a patch from both files A and B? Then the next issue I have is that since the game is only released in Japan and no English version of the game exists (except for fan translation patches), I have to find a way to get the translate the text and menu items. I'm thinking of either two choices: A) Use an old translation patch that already exists from 2006 or whenever (I will make sure to have permission from them as well as credit them), then apply it to my newly created patch? In other words, I don't know if I can tack on a existing patch to another existing patch together? Or what about applying two different patches to the same rom? (One is a translation patch and the other one is the modified base/growth rates patch.) B) Rewrite the entire game script (which includes the menu items, item descriptions, character texts, and all of that) which is A LOT of work for just a mini project. Let me know how I should go about doing these things and I hope this isn't too much for someone who is still a newbie in the world of rom hacking. I also hope I did not sound too confusing as my wording can be awkward at times. -Milanor
  7. FE6 Merlinus Battle Animations

So in my FE6 hack, I have a character replacing Merlinus as a sage. According to what I've seen, Merlinus is coded to never show battle animations even when he's reclassed. I found that you can re-enable battle animations for Merlinus by changing some hex numbers, but only for FE7. Is there a way to enable battle animations for Merlinus in FE6?
  8. I'm planning on hosting a dance panel at Metrocon (Tampa FL). I have a lot of music already, but some of these songs loop and the actual part that I can use is between 30 seconds and 1 minute. Also I can't use every song that comes my way since music for games isn't always something that can be used for dance. I want to try to use a song from every Fire Emblem, so if anyone knows of songs that I can use that are between 2 and 5 minutes with no looping and not from Blazing Sword, Awakening, Fates, or Echoes (I already have songs from those games I can use) I'd really appreciate the extra ears looking for this.
  9. Destruction of the fire emblem

What if the fire emblem heroes were to fall and all their adventures were given to random people? The fire emblem has been corrupted by the presence of the fell dragons, now a lone group of adventurers must travel to the different worlds and pick up where the fallen heroes started. (roleplay is welcome to everyone, would prefer it if we roleplayed on discord. Canon and ocs are allowed
  10. FE7 Character Patch for FE8

Hello, my name is Dualitysl and for a couple of days and nights, I have been working on a Fire Emblem patch that includes FE7's characters. I wanted to do this just so I can see other characters I wanted to promote as different classes but also include a promotion branch as well. I've tested everything up to Chapter 14 on Erikia's story, but I believe for the most part that this game is stable to play fully with some bugs to be listed below. Features: - Lloyd (ER) and Linus (EPH) are your lords. - Hector revised palette battle animation. - Characters from FE7 and some FE6. - New class: Dark Knight (Promotion from Shaman) replaces Necromancer. - Portraits are changed to their respective characters. - Main enemy bosses base stats has rose. (Game is to be played on hard. Normal is too easy.) - Fighter battle animation is now from Fire Emblem 10. + Much more to come! Known Bugs: Do not follow the story and promote EPH or ER using their respective braces to avoid anything happen to your game. Some characters still may be able to use their original weapon from their starting class if they're not a different character/class. i.e, Linus who replaces Ephraim may be able to use lances. I will get to the story soon. It will just take a tedious amount of time but I will get around it soon. PALETTES FOR EVERY CLASS ARE STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS Any bugs anyone is able to find, please comment down below and I'll see if I can work on it. But for the most part, this game should be stable to play. UPS Patch Growth chart coming soon. Charcter/class change chart coming soon. **When I get back on my desktop I will credit everyone who made anything custom for this game. Sorry, I’m not talented enough to create everything myself. :-) S/o to the FE Community.

  12. Looking for a PME hacker for FE6

I was hoping to find a ROM hacker who is knowledgeable on FE6 ROM hacking because I have a PME that I want to create. If it was just basic edits, then I would have no problem. But some of these edits have custom palette's, name change's, etc. So, if your able to, plz respond to this thread to assist me with this PME so I can get it underway. I really want this PME to become a real thing.
  13. Stupid FE6

Hi, welcome to my first "Hack", which is pretty stupid, hence the name Stupid FE6. Sadly, I do not have a change-log for this, so you'll have to make due. Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nk9kiv9ysxh6ble/Stupid FE6 - Finished.ups?dl=0 Any feedback would be appreciated.
  14. Where should I post?

I recently finished my first hack, named Stupid FE6, and was wondering where I should post it. Because I haven't really been on Serenes Forest for sometime.
  15. Clarine's Diary

Due to my ravenous boredom, I decided to write a little something based upon a character that I never had too much fondness for. I had to read her supports and get into character, but it wasn't hard considering how similar her and Maribelle are. So, I will just leave this here, and I may or may not want to write any more than this. And this is because of boredom, not because I want to write a beautiful, elaborate piece of literature, so the bare-bones feel of the story probably won't change. And yes, I am fully aware this is not how Clarine's escape happens in the game. Chapter 1: I have decided to dispel my ravenous boredom in this pitiful state by taking up a pen and paper, if only to gripe of the horrible treatment I am given while in this awful castle. The men here look at me like I am a piece of meat, and the rations they provided me are repulsive and inedible. I have refused to eat. I do not mind, I deserved higher quality nutriments. I may have lost a bit of weight, but I don't know why I would be bothered by that. There is no reason to complain about a thinner frame. But now that I have realized the error of my trusting Erik, I cannot tolerate the behavior of the people here toward me. Before, I could manage knowing that I would soon be reunited with my wonderful brother Klein, as of this moment, I am in a filthy cell below the structure I previously resided inside. I have been threatened by some pig who's name has escaped me, but to say I am afraid would be an exaggerated fib. He is simply another heartless monster with an ego problem, and his empty words, and even his true words, will not shake me. A guard turned from his seat to check on the prisoner and sneered, "Hey! Where did you get that!" "Get what?" Clarine said sharply. "The paper and pen, lassie. Where did you get them?" He growled and walked to the front of the door to unlock the dungeon cell. "I found them," she lied. The man groaned, "I have to take that." "You may not! I have a right to self-expression and personal artistry!" She continued to ramble as the man opened the door and reached out for the paper, "What do you even want it for, barbarian? You couldn't read, let alone write!" "You know, General Narcian wants you alive, but knowing how annoyed I already am 'cuz of you, I think it might be worth it to get on his bad side if it means shutting you- hrk!" A sword was thrust through the brigand's chest, and he shivered, then crumpled unto the stone floor. The man's collapse revealed another person behind him, a boy with reddish-brown hair and crimson robes. Clarine staggered to speak, something completely out of her character, "Who are you?" "That isn't your concern." The boy spoke coldly and did not seem to have any hesitation to kill. He was quite frightening, and Clarine almost shook in fear. Instead, Clarine returned to her strict and pointed manner of speech, "Not my concern? Excuse me?" "Just come here-" he reached out and snagged her arm. "How dare you touch me? Don't you know who I am!" She struggled to get him to release her, and dropped her slip of parchment. The boy saw the parchment and Clarine could have sworn he almost smiled. She yanked her arm away and picked up the paper. "You wrote on the paper." "What of it? It was given to me, why wouldn't I use it?" She paused, "Wait...were you the one that slipped the pen and paper to me?" "Keep quiet," the boy warned, "And follow me." "It was you that gave me-" "I said keep quiet," he snapped at her, "Do you want us to get caught?" She tried to keep her volume down, "Why are you helping me?" "I hate Bern," he led her up the stairs silently and tilted his head toward the door, "Outside, I have had a horse prepared for you." She looked him in the eyes, confused, "Wait, are you not coming with me?" The boy sighed, "That isn't your business, now go." "But-" "Time is running out. Go!"
  16. Does anybody know what the codebreaker chapter IDs are for Zephiel's chapter and "The Ghost Of Bern"?
  17. GBA ERA Battles VIDEOS

Hello guys, it is possible that you have seen my videos on youtube, but anyway i wanted to post some videos of character fights i made for some debate or just for fun, you can ask me witch battles of the gameboy era you would like to see: Fargus vs Nergal Lyn vs Roy: Canas vs Knoll: Nergal vs Zephiel: Erk vs Ewan: Lyon vs Nergal: Lloyd vs Linus:
  18. THREE YEARS AGO (IT'S NOT QUITE FOUR YEARS YET SHUT UP) Many moons ago, when I was but a wee lad on Serenes Forest, I did... well, this shitty thing. It wasn't actually that shitty though, go read it! You'll miss a lot of great good decent jokes in there if you don't! Eventually, after ten thousand years - and the loss of some data and in no small part due to imgur fuckery - I finally completed the run on November 10th, 2014. Naturally, Bartre killed the fire dragon, just as prophecised by none other than our fabled Eliedad. And then of course canonically everything goes to fucking dogshit twenty years later, so naturally I had to do a second run of Flan Emblem in FE6, right? Right??? please fucking end my entire ass. RUN NOTES TIME: -run will be done on normal mode. fe6 hard mode is ass, my dude. -i'm using the latest numbers patch (version 1.5!) by gringe, so everything should hopefully be a little less dogshit. -i will try my best to use MOST units in this game if the readers request it. we'll see about the shitlords. So... lessgo. Ritenow.
  19. Boss Conversation HACKING

A couple years ago, I began working on a hack in which Guinevere was implemented as a fully playable character and can be played as for whenever she is with Roy, (So really everywhere but the Western Isles) but to be fully content, I have to add boss conversations. Somehow, I managed to create a boss conversation between her and Narcian about a year ago, and I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to do it again. Not having her talk to Zephiel upon initiating combat with him would leave a bad taste in my mouth. And yeah, I know it could be argued that Guinevere fighting against Bern more actively is wholly against her character, but my Guinevere is a bit different from the canon one. (: I have a good amount of experience with Event Assembler, Mappy, Zahlman's Song Editor (lol), Nightmare 2.0, and FEditor, but I'm not sure where to begin anymore. I've gotten event editing down to a science (again, aside from boss conversations) and I know how to edit the text WITHIN the pre-existing boss conversations (ex. I can make Lilina talk Legance's ear off...) I just don't know how to create new boss conversations anymore. I want to finish this project, if only for my own personal satisfaction, though I do plan on publishing it upon completion. So, to reiterate, I'm hoping to add new, unique, boss conversations, but can't remember how to do that. I didn't want to have to ask, but i've about given up on the project and don't want to let it die quite yet. If anyone knows how to insert a new boss conversation somewhere in FE6, that would be a tremendous help. Thanks sooo much! Also, I'm also wondering if it's possible to add additonal character endings, as characters I add really SHOULD have those... Any little bit of knowledge helps. (:

  21. Hello everyone, I am a french Fire Emblem Fan and I want to make a French Translation of Fire Emblem The Binding Blade from the already existing English Fan Trad (English to French) Can someone help me with the tools needed and where to begin? Thank you very much
  22. Hello, everyone. I've only just recently picked up the use of Nightmare to make edits to FE6's relatively unbalanced nature, (yes, I know it's been done many times before,) and I've read through Blazer's guide on how nightmare works (only skipping information about music editing and the like.) I've been strugging to understand how I would go about removing Roy's forced promotion in chapter 21 / 21x and switching it over to chapter 16 / 16x. I assume it would have something to do with the respective chapter's events, but I am not sure how I would go about figuring them out. Of all the things I wanted to do to the game, this is the only block I've stumbled upon that I, as a newbie to the FE-editing scene, cannot figure out. TLDR: How would I move Roy's promotion in chapter 21/21x to Chapter 16/16x using Nightmare? And, if this is something that cannot be done in Nightmare, what programs do I need? Thabks in advance, sorry for the text mountain.
  23. FE6 Legendary weapons

Well, I'm currently playing through FE6 for the first time, I'm at chapter 19A (Ilia route) and just checked what the conditions on entering chapter 20AX were so I can get the legendary lance, Maltet, and play the final chapters. Turns out Zealot needs to be alive, which he isn't as I didn't know this at the time and let him die as an NPC. Well, suppose that's what I get for not researching it enough beforehand xD. Does anyone know a relatively easy way to hack the ROM and put Maltet in my inventory so I can play the last chapters or is this impossible? Thanks in advance! Note: I am pretty unexperienced with hacking, so I might not know all terminology but can of course look up how to do basic things. Sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn't find it on the forums.
  24. Fire Emblem 1-8 on the NES Classic

If you are one of those special people that managed to buy an NES Classic this past year, then I have some good news for you. In the past few months, applications like Hakchi and RetroArch allow us to put any NES, SNES, GBA, and many more onto our NES. Now it is possible to play Fire Emblem 1 all the way through to 8 on your television. Of course you can always play emulations on your computer, but I've always enjoyed playing NES and SNES on the big screen. The menu music now is the 8 bit FE theme song. I'm thinking about making an entire FE theme for the NES Classic. I hope this thread inspires someone else with a mini to download the FE titles. This tutorial is not mine, but it is the best one out there right now. NOTICE*- The GBA games (FE6, FE7, FE8) require a Wii Pro Controler if you would like to enjoy the full experience. It is still possible to play them, but the NES controller does not have bumpers.
  25. FE6 Randomized 2: The Quickening

And, I'm back with a new randomizer because my old one's save stopped working. I'm not going to bother with a long intro, so I'm just going to start again right away. Also the format for the spoiler tags is: top-screenshots/commentary middle-new units/unit ratings bottom-level ups And here's the settings I used. The growth randomization was a bit more extreme
