  1. Fire Emblem Vindication revisited

    Hi, there everyone. The purpose of this topic is to revisit a project of mine, a balance patch and see if there is anything else I can do to improve on it. For that purpose, I'm going to post here videos and screenshots of my playthrough so that everyone can see and throw in their opinions on this patch. Well, then, for starters, the characters growths for chapter 1: Roy: HP 90% STR 65% SKL 55% SPD 70% LUK 60% DEF 35% RES 35% Wolt: 80% STR 50% SKL 50% SPD 45% LUK 40% DEF 25% RES 15% Marcus:: HP 60% STR 35% SKL 40% SPD 30% LUK 20% DEF 20% RES 20% Allen: HP 85% STR 55% SKL 40% SPD 35% LUK 40% DEF 35% RES 20% Lance: HP 80% STR 40% SKL 50% SPD 50% LUK 35% DEF 20% RES 25% Bors: HP 90% STR 50% SKL 40% SPD 35% LUK 50% DEF 45% RES 20% Now, here are the level ups in this chapter: Wolt off to a nice start Allen gets level ups in areas that aren't particularly his expertise but will do Lance doesn't start so well Wolt gets an level for killing the boss and is a bit meh I will post the video at a later date.

Hey guys, Here's what's been done so far: - dumped the installed CIA as a .CXI using GodMode9 - extracted gamedata.bin.lz from .CXI file by mounting it as an Image - tried to paste edited gamedata.bin.lz within the currently installed title (mounted as image) - met with error saying I cannot paste files in a virtual game path I'm trying to edit the classes and characters using Nightmare and FEFeditor but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Welcome, ladies and gentleman! I have a great pleasure to inform you, that I am working on a new hack: Fire Emblem: The New Dawn! The story picks up where FE6 leaves us (Bern being defeated, Idun unsealed, Roy learning the truth about the Scouring) and tells the story after ten year, when the allied occupation (Lycia and Eturia) of Bern ends. Meanwhile new disorder erupts in Lycia, as many of the nobles are displeased of Roy's new kingdom (which he formed after the war). Unrest raises on the Wester Isles, when the population is still being used by Eturian goverment. Also, a new figure raises in Sacae, a man who may shake the world fundations... FEATURES: a) Reworked promotions. I try to add some new classes and make the already existing not to double. For exxamble, the armor knight now promotes to (of course) General or Vanguard (heavy knight with lances, bows and magic); b) Compeling story with a darker overall tune comparable to FE4; c) Fates of many characters revealed at once (many are dead, though :D) RETURNING CAST: - Roy, king of Lycia - married Sue (not Lilina and this is a plot device!) - uniter of Lycia, most do not understand his dream; - Sue, queen-consort and true heir to the Caelinian throne (she is the daughter of Lyn, also a plot device); - Lilina, marquesses of Ostia - in opposition to Roy, a republican heart; - Kent, lord-regent of Caelin - A troubled soul that saw massacre of his entire familiy; - Priscilla, marquesses of Cornwell - the house was rebuilded by Roy; - Erik, marquess of Laus - is a dick agian; - Sain, a lord - husaband of Priscilla; - Danyan, the Silver Wolf; - ??? - the defender of Sacae, known as the Beast (can't reveal this one); - Nino - the new archsage; - Gwynever - the new queen of Bern; - and many more beloved characters... NEW CAST: - Theodore - marquess Arphen; - Daria - daughter of Erik; - Hector - son of Roy (yes, he has THE NAME) - all the others marquesses; - Gren, knight of Arphen; - only first chapte is fully comlete, though.   6. FE Hack Problem

    So I'm using the FeBuilder app, and the map sprite doesn't show if I hover them or when I control them to move. Is there a way I can fix that?
  7. As the title says, how do you make a hack of a 3DS title? I know of the tools used for older systems but not tools for the likes of the 3DS. Please bestow knowledge upon me so I can broaden my horizons. Thanks in advance.
  8. Update Log V 1.03 (CURRENT): This English version of the patch was updated to fix Fergus's promotion. The Japanese version is unchanged, as this glitch was only present in the English version. V 1.02: Fixed graphical glitch that occurred when viewing Alva's PRF in chapter 10 V 1.01: Fixed Forseti to be magical instead of physical --- I am very happy to announce the release of my FE5 Reverse Recruitment hack. For those that don't know, a reverse recruitment hack is one that completely reverses the order in which characters are obtained throughout the game. So in the case of FE5, Galzus is the new lord. See the screenshots for examples. Patches Important Note: The English version of this hack incorporates the "Unified Thracia" menu translation by ChimeraHardline, and all credit for the translation goes to Chimera. Details on the menu translation can be found here. English Menu and RR Patch Japanese RR Patch These are IPS patches, so you will need an IPS patcher such as LunarIPS to apply them. You should apply these to an unheadered, .srm ROM version of Thracia 776. You will know the ROM is unheadered if the filesize is 4096 KB. It probably will not work if applied to the NP Rev A version of Thracia 776. The English version should be applied to a clean Japanese ROM, since it already incorporates the translation. Guide I have created a handy Spreadsheet guide that covers recruitment, special events, and PRF weapons to help you as you are playing through FE5 RR. The spreadsheet also includes unit stats. Known Bugs/Issues Character portraits are not changed during dialogue or story. I will probably work on this once a full English patch is released. Some PRF weapons don't include who they are for in the item description. Some say they are for a unit that they are not actually for (Eg: Hammerne still says it is for Safy). Make sure you check the spreadsheet guide if you need help figuring out who a PRF belongs to. The cutscene after the prep screen in chapter 17A freezes the game. It is skippable, so press start as soon as you finish in the 17A prep screen. The animation where Finn kills the boss of chapter 23 will skip itself. This is to prevent the game from freezing if the animation plays out. Various animations are not correct (Eg: Unpromoted Deen has the female dragon rider animation instead of male) FAQ Do characters have their normal growths? How did you calculate the character base stats? Character growths are kept the same (Eg: Ced still has his insanely good growths from vanilla FE5, but now has room to grow and use them). Base stats were calculated by either leveling or "deleveling" characters to their new level, and adding in or subtracting promotion bonuses as necessary. When leveling or "deleveling" characters, all promotions were assumed to occur at level 10. What about movement stars, leadership stars, and PCC? Characters keep their movement stars and PCC (Eg: Galzus still has 5 movement stars and a PCC of 3). However, leadership stars are based on the character who is being replaced (Eg: Saias does not have 3 leadership stars. However, when Halvan is recruited in chapter 23, he will have 3 leadership stars). The leadership stars were done this way for 1) balance reasons; and 2) because leadership stars can be tricky to change for some characters. What about Weapon Ranks? Weapon ranks are based on the character that is being replaced. (Eg: Vanilla Dagdar had A rank in Axes, E rank in bows. Amalda, who replaces Dagdar, now has an A rank in swords, and an E rank in staves) I used some discretion when replacing mono-weapon characters with multi-weapon characters. Why does Ronan have an E rank in Swords? He is a sniper! This is because he needs to be able to use swords for the cutscene where he teaches Cain Astra in chapter 15, or the cutscene softlocks the game. Overall, I decided the impact of giving him E rank in swords was pretty low considering his join time and how slowly weapon ranks build in this game, you would have to grind the heck out of him to have him actually use any decent swords. How do you get through Manster without a thief? Every character that joins in the Manster arc now joins with 3 door keys in their inventory. This means there are enough door keys to get through and get all the chests in Manster just by recruiting all of the Manster units. Some enemies also carry door keys if you need more. Why doesn't Galzus have insane health like he does in vanilla? Galzus's HP was the one stat I decided to nerf from what it "should be" based on the calculations. Otherwise, he would have 40 HP at base. He is already a really strong Lord, he doesn't need 40 HP. It won't work in my emulator. What should I do? Use SNES9X. The English patch expands the size of the ROM, which some older emulators don't like. How did you make this? This hack was done using Nightmare and hex editing in HxD. Who are the route split characters? A Route Characters: Brighton (Alva must be dead or unrecruited), Machyua, Lifis, Dagdar B Route characters: Ronan, Marty, Eyvel How do supports work? Supports are based on the new characters. So Galzus only supports Mareeta, he doesn't support 10 people or whatever like Leif does. Credits The English patch is the work of ChimeraHardline.   10. Hello, and welcome to Terper's (that's me!) Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Rewrite Project. The name's a placeholder until I can think of a catchy, melodramatic title. Just call it "Rewrite" for short or whatever you'd like. The Sacred Stones is a pretty cool game. It's got monsters and dragons and swords and sorcery and branching promotions which is like, whoa. But I also think the plot is sort of undercooked. Our two main leads are fairly static characters who do not really grow or change. Immediately after her castle is taken, Princess Eirika gives a short speech about how she must not give in to despair, and proceeds to not give in to despair. And that's fine, I guess, but I want to see her deal with the events taking place around her in a more interesting way. I want to see her come to terms with her place in this conflict and grow as a person! And from that budding desire to change a few things about our main characters eventually grew this beautiful* need to change how pretty much the entire plot plays out. So one day I decided: Hey! It would be very productive and not at all a waste of time to rewrite the story of FE8 from almost top to bottom. Behold, some images from the intro: Fascinating. But that is, of course, only working with what is already there, just changing and adding a few words here and there, adding a little bit of emotion. That's boring. So I have also added some entirely new scenes that give further development. Here are some pictures of that, but not too many, because I want you to experience them in the game itself: So let me lay down the law here: This is not a relocalization. By which I mean this is a rewrite. The story and the characters WILL differ from the original author's intent and I apologize if I change things in ways you don't like. I'm sorry. This means that if you encounter any discrepancies between how characters exist in this hack and how they are in the Original/Heroes/Cipher/Japanese Original, well then there should be a reason for it. Hopefully a decently good one. At times I might have rewritten a perfectly fine line for no good reason just because the mood struck me. As of the time that this thread goes up, I have rewritten everything between the Prologue up until the Route Split (spoilers: There will be no route split. A) Because I'm lazy and B) Because it limits the characters' development if our two leads can't be together and interact and talk and grow). I have not rewritten Supports yet. I'm going to. If there are only a few minor issues in this current patch, then I will not update the patch until I am done with Chapter 16. After that will be the final major update with the rest of the story, and then a couple of eventual bug fixes and quality assurance stuff after that. What you should know going into this: If anyone in your party dies, it's game over. Let me repeat that: If Anyone Dies, It's Game Over. This includes enemy units that you can recruit. Killing Joshua in Chapter 5 will cause a Time Paradox. Keep your save states ready. Or the reset button. I'm sorry if you love to Ironman. The story will assume that you have recruited everyone. Please do not go around Joshua and "forget" to recruit him in an attempt to spite me just because I won't let you kill him. Not only would that be very rude, he will still show up in the story, and you will only have yourself to blame for this. Shame on you. You can't play on Easy because I'm using some of those tutorial prompts for new scenes. I have made a few gameplay changes here and there and they are basically untested. Please give feedback on that. Also please give feedback if anything breaks/you encounter some odd glitch. I have never hacked before. This is scary. Some of these gameplay changes are made for story-purposes, some are things I think could be rad. Please also give feedback and share your thoughts on what you think of the story since this is a story-focused hack. I would like that. I try to be woke, so if you find anything unwoke, then please bring it to my attention. English is not my first language and though I think I'm pretty good at it, if you encounter anything weird, well then that's why. If you find any typos or weird sentences, do mention them. Reviews: If this interests you, then rev up your favorite UPS patcher and apply THIS PATCH to your rom. If you don't know how to do this, just google "UPS Patcher". I believe in you.   13. i was starting to look at thanes fe randomizer but everytime i pull out the randomizer it crashes in between ch 1 -6 and i dont know what is causing it so i was wondering if using layeredfs in luma is the cause? also, i want to get into fire emblem hacking so if you have some videos to share or tips i will gladly take it it doesnt matter if i work my way through from GBA fe i just want to learn how to do it right :)
  14. Thracia 776 knight lord using staves?

    I hacked thracia to check the unused content and i found that the class lord knight (the class of sigurd in Fe4) have an incomplete staff animation (this class can use staves when is dismounted) and cause a softlock when i tried to use a staff with that class the next images are the selection of the staff, leif using the staff with animation and leif using the staff without animation (looks like he is attacking) i wanted to make leif promote to master knight or lord knight at the end of chapter 18 (i don't know how to do that) but the animations are imcomplete and cause glitches and bugs
  15. I was wondering how musicians and creators of Fire emblem hacks and GBA hacks in general found and used GBA instruments in the musical compositions. I have been writing music using the electric piano at my house, and am confident in my musical ability, but I do not know how to write it using GBA instruments. I am not asking anyone to write music for me, but I would appreciate it if somebody helped explain the basics of writing music for a FE hack, and would appreciate it if they helped me figure out how to import it into a game as well.
  16. FE7 Character Patch for FE8

    Hello, my name is Dualitysl and for a couple of days and nights, I have been working on a Fire Emblem patch that includes FE7's characters. I wanted to do this just so I can see other characters I wanted to promote as different classes but also include a promotion branch as well. I've tested everything up to Chapter 14 on Erikia's story, but I believe for the most part that this game is stable to play fully with some bugs to be listed below. Features: - Lloyd (ER) and Linus (EPH) are your lords. - Hector revised palette battle animation. - Characters from FE7 and some FE6. - New class: Dark Knight (Promotion from Shaman) replaces Necromancer. - Portraits are changed to their respective characters. - Main enemy bosses base stats has rose. (Game is to be played on hard. Normal is too easy.) - Fighter battle animation is now from Fire Emblem 10. + Much more to come! Known Bugs: Do not follow the story and promote EPH or ER using their respective braces to avoid anything happen to your game. Some characters still may be able to use their original weapon from their starting class if they're not a different character/class. i.e, Linus who replaces Ephraim may be able to use lances. I will get to the story soon. It will just take a tedious amount of time but I will get around it soon. PALETTES FOR EVERY CLASS ARE STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS Any bugs anyone is able to find, please comment down below and I'll see if I can work on it. But for the most part, this game should be stable to play. UPS Patch Growth chart coming soon. Charcter/class change chart coming soon. **When I get back on my desktop I will credit everyone who made anything custom for this game.   18. All right, now that Binding Blade's Vindication patch has been finished (for now anyway, I might tweak it in the future). I'm now moving to my Divine Crusade and Promoted Power Madness (Blazing Sword) projects. This project has the following objectives: - balance the game (by changing movement, stats, skills and growths of characters). - modernize stats a bit by reducing HP to the more common levels of recent FEs as well reduce weapons MT - Possibility of changing the maps a bit (not yet sure if possible) - Make light magic more common to use and get - Make almost everyclass capable of doubling via pursuit, with the exception of the tankier classes (so that pursuit ring doesn't become useless) Here's a patch for you to have a bit of a taste. It's not even remotely complete, but the prologue is pretty much fully playable. Other chapters might be as well, but I haven't touched all the enemies and allies that join, so some characters might be off. Use the headered version of the game for this patch, which is what I tested this on. Divine Crusade v0.5.ips
  19. Genealogy of the Holy War Engine

    (Wasn't sure if this would go here or in Fan Projects, so I flipped a coin.) This is just me being curious, but would it be possible to use FE4's engine to create a ROM hack? I don't mean a translation, but using the game's engine to create an entirely new game from scratch (new sprites, new map design, new classes, new weapons, etc.) Of course, all things in this area are difficult, but I'm wondering if it has ever been done before/could it be possible.
  20. Chapter 15?

    So, I've been hacking FE7, and I got to chapter 15, but I can't locate chapter 15 in the nightmare modules.There is one 15, and it is the Hector mode chapter 15. It isn't marked with an H, and there isn't an E15 either. This chapter in Eliwood's story is where you get Lyn's party back, and I want to put their palettes back to the way I set them when they enter, but I can't find the chapter? Can anyone help me here? P.S. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm sort of a noob.

It always bothered me how growths and bases make little sense in this game, thus, I've created this patch, which I dubbed Vindication. since it's meant to make everyone to be as balanced as possible as they deserve. Broken characters shall be knocked from their high horse, while characters that are too hard to use will become just as good as your usual good character. Changed quite a few things and removed some irritations (like Echidna using an heavy axe and being easily beaten in Hard mode for instance, now she is equipped with a sword by default and thus the RNG is much less likely to hate you). This project is finished, but it migth be tweaked further later on. Also, if anyone could point me to a way to raise Roy's level cap as a lord and experience gained (not as a Great Lord) and only for him, I would be gratefull. NOTE: This balancing patch is meant to be played in Hard mode, if playing in normal mode, characters dependent on Hard bonuses might become underwhelming as a result. *UPDATED TO V.2.0.5* 2.0 changes -Made some more changes to characters growths and bases - Light magic ranks changed. Light magic starts at C rank, with Lightning as a C rank tome, Divine as a B rank while Purge keeps being an A rank. - All enemies from chapter 22 and beyond are now promoted and level 20 - Classes of enemies in chapter 24 changed. More variety of enemies. Enemy levels in this chapter were increased to 25 for further boosted stats resulting from class growths. -Tweaked Yahn and Idun's stats a bit further. Yahn is now capable of surviving more than 3 hits from Legendary weapons, thus managing to be challenge enough as far bosses in Binding Blade go. - Roy's promotion stats nerfed. Only HP, CON, DEF and RES increase in order to compensate for his higher than normal growths. - Binding Blade's weight increased to 10, to prevent Roy from doubling Idun even at max SPD. - All legendaries MT is now 15. Except the Binding Blade which is 16 now. 2.0.5 changes *New* - raised the levels of the wyvern riders on chapter 21, some were reduced to lv 10 while doing some tests back then and they felt too weak, so I raised their lv to 15 instead. Future plans: -Tweak any issues that might pop up. Keep me informed of any oddities.   24. Face Sprite/MugsShots Help FE7

    I'm trying to create my own custom Mugshot or face sprite whichever name you prefer. I know you can just edit and photo shop the characters from the game but I wanted a pure custom one. So I created a face, but now I cant find any information on how to size it and make it into a full fire emblem face sprite. I'm looking for an easy simple way but if I must I'll go the hard way. Maybe I'm missing something super obvious. If I am I'm sorry >.< I'm still quite a noob at this hacking stuff so please bare with me. If anyone knows a site,program, or a diagram that will help me figure out the size and the cutting of the face along with the chibi face size please do tell. Thank you very much in advance.
  25. What is this? This is an hack that allows unit to dismount, as pictured above How can i set which class can dismount into which class? Open Installer.event in a text file and go to the end. you should see something like this: DismountMountTable: DismountMount(KnightLord, EliwoodLord) DismountMount(Cavalier, Mercenary) DismountMount(Nomad, Archer) DismountMount(Nomad_F, Archer_F) DismountMount(Paladin, Hero) EndTable Simply Edit that table to add the classes you want, using The mounted class as the first argument, and the dismounted class as the second. Planned Features: -Make units scale properly by adding class bases over their classes. Planned Bugfixes: -Fix weapon ranks.
