  1. Emblem Chronicle VII

    Hiya! I'm Zane. You might know me from my FE5 Menu Translation. Although work on the menu translation has essentially ceased, I've been steadily working on a project that uses it as its base. So, I'd like to introduce Emblem Chronicle VII (henceforth called ECVII): ECVII is essentially a demake of FE7 within FE5. It's a proof-of-concept, learning tool, and showcase all in one. I'm currently planning on making all of Hector mode, skipping Lyn mode. This release has two chapters. This isn't 1-to-1, however. I'm not looking to write Elibe fanfiction, but this won't ever be a cut/paste job from 7 to 5. Classes, enemies, maps, and dialogue, along with some other things, will likely be changed. Unit stats, skills, and classes are not final. This is partially due to the WIP nature of the hack, but is mainly just me figuring out how to play with FE5. Have some screenshots: Here's a patch: ECVII [12-1-17] This is for an unheadered, unedited FE5 ROM. I'm not responsible for anything past chapter 2. Please don't ask me why it's vanilla. I'd also like to reiterate that essentially none of this is final--if you have a suggestion, I'd like to hear it. If you've got a complaint about stats/levels, be thankful that they'll be getting smoothed out later. I'd like to thank everyone involved--I certainly couldn't do it without you: There are plenty of bugs in the current build. If you find one not listed here, let me know. I'll probably be releasing more tools, doc, and whatnot sometime soon. More info, plans, and screenshots are likely to be appended to this post shortly.
  2. FE5 Map Sprites

    This is a crosspost from FEU. While working on my FE5 project I had figured it'd be nice to rip the map sprites, because I can't find a unified sheet of them anywhere. Although the data is ripped using the class data table, there might be errors. If anything's odd about these, let me know. FE5 Map Sprites Here's an example: Each class gets its own sheet. Some sheets have some strange things going on, such as: Some mage classes have incorrect sprites, probably due to the correct sprites being set in character data Some mage classes have other mages in their battle sprites The High Priest and Priest have some strange things going on There's that weird Baron class More stuff, probably Unused sprites and stuff may be added later, but any sprites that aren't referenced are not included yet.
  3. After roughly 9 months there were many main series additions that aren't event-related. Almost every series got more faces to its roster ... but almost is almost. I'm pretty one of the banners for November is going to be a special one, so it leaves space for another main series entry. The progression so far from launch: - Sacred Stones/Genealogy - Genealogy/Thracia/Binding Blade/Radiant Dawn - Blazing Blade - Shadows of Valentia - Path of Radiance - Shadows of Valentia - Mystery of the Emblem - Shadows of Valentia - Sacred Stones - Path of Radiance - Genealogy of the Holy War So far the only main series that didn't get any more faces are the newer entries, Awakening and Fates. Fates kinda cheats in that regard since we got Charlotte and Shigure in their event forms before the actual incarnation. Both games are, of course, represented often in special banners though there are some rather important characters missing. Awakening has still a lot of the original shepherds (Sumia, Maribelle, Vaike, Miriel, Ricken ... no I didn't forget someone), while Fates is missing pretty much everyone who isn't a retainer to a royal (most notably Kaze, Silas, maybe Rinkah and Flora). The ones that didn't get 'proper' banner presentation are the participants from the Sibling Bonds banner; Thracia, Binding Blade and Radiant Dawn. Noticeably, Leif and Micaiah, the protagonist of their respective games, are still missing. The latter is also quite high in CYL which begs the question of her whereabouts. What do you guys think about this? What game is going to get the spotlight?
  4. FE: Thracia 776 Question

    Hello fellow FE mates! So, I just recently beat Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. Now the only remaining game in the series that I have yet to play is Thracia 776, but I am having some serious issues finding a working ROM for it. So far I've downloaded four ROMs and all of them have either only been one part of the game translated. All I want is to finally say I've beaten the whole series. Can anyone guide this poor boy to a translation that at least has translated story/dialogue, items, options/moves, and character names? Some translations even mess up on the intro. The very first screen of text introducing the game will have a sentence that starts with gibberish letters like "rn." Anyway, it'd be greatly appreciated. Seeyaround!

  6. Hello everyone! I'm new here so I'm not sure if a thread has been open about this. So I bought a new SNES Classic Edition from Gamestop, and have modded it to run a few extra games. One came to mind is both Genealogy of Holy War and Thracia 776. I looked online to see if it has ever been done before. So I did some research. since I do have the North American version of the SNES Classic, the emulator built-in will not be able to play PAL or Japanese games. But there's still a way to play Fire Emblem games for those that don't want to pay an import fee for a Super Famicom Mini Classic (even though the console still looks cooler than the lame NA look). So far, I'm stuggling trying to find a proper patched Genealogy of Holy War (w/Project Narga translation patch) and unable to play the game on the Classic. However, I was able to run Thracia 776 w/ the english patch (although an old patch) and was able to get a close enough real SNES experience to play the game. What you need to do this A SNES Classic Edition (either PAL or North America models) Hakchi mod tool for your desktop Retroarch w/cores Thracia 776 Rom w/English Patch I'll be updating this thread with more as I'm at work right now.   7. It seems that many people's favorite game is FE4, and is one of the most beloved in the franchise, but the sequel, and last game on the SNES, Thracia 776 is rather obscure. Not that many people talk about it and even most people I have encountered that have played Genealogy has not even touched FE5 which is weird. How come? Is it becuase of the menu's still being untranslated?
  8. I did another 0% growths warpless low turn count playthrough of FE5. The tactics are much improved from my previous run and it should be much easier to watch due to less wasted time. "0% growths" means I play on a ROM edited so characters do not gain stats on level-up (both character and scroll growths set to zero). I like playing 0% growths because it eliminates the randomness that growths cause and improves the game's balance by reducing player strength relative to the enemy; in a normal run, I find that characters become too powerful and diminish the need for tactical maneuvers. Also, movement stars are also not used when they activate. By "warpless" I mean that I do not use the warp staff (rescue staves and the self-targeting rewarp staff are permitted). I've done runs with the warp staff before and they're plenty of fun, but this warpless route involves a lot of varied and interesting tactics in chapters that the warp staff would trivialize. "Low turn count" means that I aim to complete chapters as quickly as possible. In Fire Emblem games, there are often boring and time-consuming tactics than lead to victory with little effort, but it is far more fun and entertaining to use complex tactics that lead to a faster completion. Furthermore, the game ranks you based upon the number of turns you take, so a lower turncount can be considered a better result. However, in some cases I will sacrifice speed for reliability. This is a segmented run but in the future I hope to complete a SS rank warpless ironman run; I think it is more fun to consider contingency plans and adapt tactics during a playthrough than it is to map out a singular path through the game and reset until the RNG rolls in your favour. My idea of a good tactic is as follows: if all goes well a very low turncount will be achieved, if some things go wrong a fairly low turncount will still be achieved, and in the case of extreme bad luck several turns may be lost but a game over would be avoided. However there are several chapters in this playthrough where this ideal is not achieved. One day I will improve upon this run so please suggest any improvements that come to mind. I do not attempt to recruit all characters in this playthrough. This run is played on normal mode (without increased exp gain), so EXP distribution must be considered. This does not affect turncounts. There are several chapters for which I don't have a really good plan and I could really use some suggestions. I probably won't redo this anytime soon but someday I will. Here is the youtube playlist:
  9. I was curious to see some opinions of fire emblem 5. I never liked it due to the fact that some characters were almost unusable, and for me, the game is just boring. No character except for the main characters had any characterization, the map design was bad, (in my opinion) and the game was really unbalanced. I liked the crusader scrolls, and this game gets some credit for adding fog of war, but that's all I liked. So why do you like or dislike this game?
  10. Overused jokes aside, I'm somehow having a lot of trouble deciding whom to give this shield ring to. This is my second attempt at beating thracia, and I'm in chapter 8. I plan to just complete the game at this point, and I'm dead set on making Lara the best she can be (Because I'm a sucker). I know the sheild ring would be a waste on her, so aside from the ton of mounted units you get, who would be a good choice to give the first shield ring to? Leaf and Fergus are already overleveled, and I'm almost ready to promote Asvel. Dahlshin is dead and My Axe fighters (Othin and Havan) suck.   11. Notes on Thracia 776 Events

    This is a sort of crosspost from FEU. I've been interested in learning about Thracia 776 recently, so I've put together some notes and I figured that it'd be nice to share them. I'll continue to update the file with as much as I find. Thracia 776 Doc I was working on an entry for MAFC using what I've learned, but the amount of knowledge required outran the research I had done, so I ran out of time.     Hey everyone! As much as I hate to, I'm selling my home consoles and games as I prepare for an apartment and a lifestyle of moving between two countries fairly often. I'm able to keep my handhelds just fine, but my consoles would be too much of a pain to move and use in the PAL region (as mine are NTSC). So! You guys luck out, because I have the following FE games for sale: Fire Emblem (Famicom) Gaiden (Famicom, has okay box & manual) Gaiden (English reproduction cart that works on NA NES) Mystery of the Emblem (Super Famicom, back plate is very yellow) Mystery of the Emblem (English reproduction cart that works on NA SNES) Genealogy (Complete in box, with manual and bloodline chart, very nice) Thracia 776 (Super Famicom, complete in box. Manual and cart are very nice, while box is decent) Thracia 776 (English reproduction cart that works on NA SNES; translation is iffy but playable. OK condition) Path of Radiance (Gamecube, complete in box - disc is great) Sold! Radiant Dawn (Wii, complete in box - disc is good but has been resurfaced, plays great) You'll notice that I haven't listed prices - I know that these games (especially the last two) can be quite pricey. I know what everything is worth, but I will listen to any and all offers as long as it is decent. It would make me much happier to see them go to a loving FE home, than have to sell them on E-bay. I don't have to pay E-bay fees if I sell them on Serenes, which I definitely have in mind. Although not FE, I also have for sale: NES console with all the works (has great pins and two controllers) Legend of Zelda (Gold cart) Zelda II (gray cart, has manual) City Connection Kid Icarus Little Nemo the Dream Master Crystalis SNES Console with all the works (clean pins and one controller) Earthbound A Link to the Past (has manual) sold! Also for sale is a Roy amiibo - I have an extra that's still in the package PLEASE NOTE: Most of the NES/SNES games come with universal game cases with custom covers. Just ask! While I procrastinate working on and recording defense chapters in my active playthroughs, I decided to figure out how to effectively RNG abuse in yet another Fire Emblem game... and this was the result: No plans to pursue this any further at the moment (since I've never played this game before, and I have other playthroughs that are higher on my priority list), but thought you guys might enjoy. EDIT: Sorry, there is a recording issue at the moment that will get fixed in like 2 minutes when I change the link. Fixed!
  14. In the page here on Thracia 776's unused classes, Dragon Master (M, D), meaning male and dismounted, is listed as having access to Lances and Swords. However, when I hack the Dismounted Dragon Master class into the game with action replay, it can only use Swords. Is there something I'm missing here, or is this an error? I will say Male Dismounted Dragon Lords being able to use Lances is similar to Raffin in Kaga's next game, Tear Ring Saga. On a related subject, was no one being able to uses Lance indoors in Thracia 776 an intentional decision? Like did they plan Lance, and Duke Knights to dismount to Swords all along, or was it a time saving measure by making the majority of dismounted classes re-use the same animations? If they did plan Non Sword mounted classes dismounting to Swords, why?
  15. PCC or Pursuit Critical Coefficient, is a system that was in Thracia 776 and only Thracia 776. In laymans terms on a pursuit attack (second attack) or a counter attack, a characters PCC (which was a hidden value and varied on the character), would times their critical rate by that amount, you can have a PCC of 0-5. Would you like to see it again? Even if it were a FE hack? Not just an official game, which its return is just as likely as the dismount system.
  16. I am not privy of all the plot details in the Geneology saga nor have I played the games, but I have read and love the plot, especially its take on, shall we say, "realism". But one thing that boggles me is how Quan's Lance Ritter managed to stave off the Thracian wyverns for years. They are not even bow knights or anything that can shoot down the wyverns and the Thracians could like just fly over without any problems. Is there any explanation in supplamental materials?
  17. Okay so I have played all fire emblem games excluding the Jugdral saga. The reason being is they are very intimidating as I here they are very punishing to the uninformed. So i guess what I am asking is any tips for a newbie. Im not sure if we are allowed to discuss fan translations but does anybody have a link to one for either game (if we aren't supposed to discuss them just don't mention it.)
  18. I feel at time I'm the only person who absolutely hates all the mechanics Thracia is constantly praised for. I really hate the fatigue system. I just enjoy using characters I like. I personally don't care for having to micro-manage and the challenge of using everyone. I personally just want to use units I like and not be gimped for it. Dismounting is my least favorite mechanic in the entire series. I find it really unnecessary. Yeah, it nerfs mounts in a way, but I really hate the way it sword-locks every single mounted unit. I don't want to carry a ton of excess swords around just for units that are only going to need them for certain chapters! I would be fine with the mechanic if people could use whatever weapon they specialize in, which would make SENSE. I like the idea of capturing. I really do. But I can't stand using it. Mainly because it gimps your accuracy a lot, in a game where accuracy is annoying because of the RNG system. I also don't like that more or less any enemy unit can just wisk away any cleric or I believe, mages, I don't really remember how that works so feel free to correct me on that. I don't know how they'd do it but give a bit more critera before you just kidnap the lightest units in the game. I know it's to punish you for messing up, but kmon. And the times I would enjoy buying weapons I can't really buy much or any, because the only way you get money is really by capturing and selling things, and even when I want to buy something it costs SO MUCH it's not even worth it. Other mechanics I personally dislike are fog of war, it was much better implemented in other games, and even though I hate them in those games at least I can STAND IT. I also hate that there are very few ways to actually recover from status ailments, which is really cheap and stupid in my opinion. Because if you get berserked or put asleep you're pretty much screwed. I'm not trying to start any fights or anything, because I can appreciate them trying new mechanics, but I honestly find that half the mechanics in this make it very irritating and unplayable for me, which is a shame, because I really want to finish it because I love this continent this game takes place in, but I cannot bear to even play it. I really needed to get this off my chest. Am I the only one with this opinion? Probably.
  19. What would you want to see changed, altered etc if anything? Thracia has so many interesting mechanics I was curious to see what people would want. Heck I expect an answer relating to an avatar maybe from a few All I feel the game needs is stronger foes and dismounted units to be able to use their original weapon. Maybe make supports more akin to Fe9 which I felt did the system the best.
