  1. I honestly didn't expect to begin writing this for a while. But I might use this as a means of telling a tale or two that I've had in my mind for a while. Although this one might be a long one, so I hope that I can entertained. I intend to split between this story along with several entries from the main character's actual in-universe journal. If anything isn't clear, let me know in the feedback thread for this! For now, enjoy the Prologue. (EDIT: AN: The story's first arc is mostly in Awakening, but very abridged in a way. I don't have much of an explaination beyond that but it'll mostly involve Aileron's POV and very rarely show Robin's.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue ~ The Outrealms Myth vs. Reality For a time, no one knew where the Outrealms came from. It was only stated to be a myth, written as part of the tales the creation myths with Naga, and nothing more. Coincidentally, it also became an enigma of sorts to the wary commoners and locals who would mysteriously disappear from the world they belonged to. The disappearences, although never fully explained, were cast off as people simply dying or off on a very long journey. However, there are a few who know of the Outrealms. The few wayward souls who travel between world to world, simply seeking adventure or escape from their own madness. Though they do not meddle in the affairs of a world, they cannot turn a blind eye and simply watch form afar with whatever conflict that may occur. The accounts of these few explain possibly the mysteries and detailed accords of the various tales from the era of Akaneia, Jugdral, Tellius, Magvel, Elibe and, more recently, Ylisse's dynasties and wars. But the question of where these few come from isn't totally explained, at least in a more common sense. Supposedly there may exist a nexus, or centerfold, that may connect the different points in time, space and, perhaps, all other planes of reality. A recent conjecture had brought the conclusion of these worlds being connected by one realm, said by the Ylissean Tactician named Robin after being transported to a future where Grima still existed among various other realms that he and the Shepards explored. Usually, this would be a cause for concern for us that do know. To say that Robin's idea would be thrown aside as 'simply impossible,' is a relief upon the Grand Order within this very world... A world where I-- No, all of the lost, huddled masses and immigrants for various timelines or destroyed worlds due to unforeseen incidents to call home: Navarre, the ever infinitely expanding plane of reality that acts as the crux and nexus for every world, time period and dimensions that may exist. Though, I suppose I've rambled for a while. I've forgotten my manners: My name is Aileron Rowe, I'm a resident of Navarre and traveller between worlds to seek an adventure or, simply, to laze around to take in the landscape. I cannot say that I'm a staunch workaholic, but it usually works out for me when I get to go on missions within the outrealms to keep an eye on things. I work as a for-hire Mercenary (sort-of) by the Grand Order, an organization that serves the Regent (Lord) and his Wife (Lady) and is a quasi-secret force that usually handles external conflicts by sending operatives to keep an eye on world histories from being altered or, simply, vacation time. Yes, Vacation is a mandatory task when people overwork. Such is the case for me, leaving the comforts of my nice air-conditioned ranch to head towards a splinter of the main timeline for the period of Ylisse. Quite no joy than sniffing horse manure once more. Gods, why must I go to some place like Ylisse and not a place like one of those privately owned beaches that the Anna family runs? Nevertheless, I suck up my pride with any mission I take. As for more information on Navarre, it is a strange case of both modernization from various lost people who come from 'Japan', 'United States' and any other lost soul from the planet known as 'Earth'; along with some places taking the more traditional, medieval or turn of the century-rustic look with instances of modernization. Fortunately the technology is advanced, allowing for upgrades from horse and buggy to these vehicles. Some of the outrealmers who lost their worlds due to an external threat appeared in Aeero City, where most of the Naga-centric (or otherwise) are entered from with the Eastern Gate. The Gate is a way to easily enter worlds, allowing for transportation on an easier level with smaller vehicles, or horseback. But I chose to walk, seeing as I needed an excuse to exercise my muscles, instead of commandeer a horse from the owners of the Gate. There are four gates: The North, The East, The West and The South Gates: Each leading to a different set of Outrealms. The Eastern Gate sits at the edge of the world in Aeero City, being maintained by a family known as the Signore Family. As I enter through the first building and reach the counter where my good friend and manager of the Gate, Civaro Signore, along with his wife (one of the Annas) as I hand them my report ticket for them to overlook. I sigh as I slouch into a comfortable pose. "So you're heading back to Ylisse?" said Civaro, turning to me with a curious eye after shooing Anna away for the time. "For vacation?" "I didn't have much of a choice, along with the fact that Lord Lowell is hard to bargin with considering our relationship," I said ruefully. "I swear to Naga, he seems to enjoy sending me out to this place at any given opportunity! It's like he knows my secret of loving the smell of Horse crap!" The two of us broke into a small chuckle as he organized the papers together. "So where's your son at?" I said to Civaro out of curiousity. "It's not like Jake to be gone on a work day." "He's currently running some deliveries to a few clients: Namely the Browning Corperation and our good friends the Hoshi family," said Civaro. "I can't tell you what Lucian's up to with whatever the hell he's been getting from the Outrealms...stuff's pretty expensive." "I wonder if it's got to do with that obsession he has of trying to collect every legendary weapon or his luck at keeping the Museum from being put into absolute debt?" I thought openly. "But then again, he said he was trying to work on upgrading the school in Academia Island. So who knows?" Civaro simply shrugged as he came to me with a pen and paper. "You know the deal though, but, when do you think you're going to be back? I've got several things I'd like to do with you." I shrugged as I signed the papers. "Depending on how long Trevor wants to keep me away...which is probably a month in our cycle of time," I said. "I'm guessing you wanna finish building that airship huh?" "I mean, it's been six months, so you can't blame me," said Civaro as I handed him the signed documents. "Alright, gate should be opening soon...any last things?" "Mind calling my cousin Eirika? She's gotta take care of my mutt, Mugi, while I'm gone," I said with a sigh. "Other than that, no." "Sure, because I owe ya one from the other night..." said Civaro, patting my back as he hobbled back to his office. "Now off ya go, you nut!" As Civaro hit the switch to open the gate I grabbed my knapsack to my back and looked to him, waving goodbye as I was engulfed in a blue light. This was the same old feelings everytime I'd go through that portal. But for some reason fate wouldn't have it any other way and I didn't expect the long journey ahead of me and the few people who brave the worlds. A journey that would bring questions to the history of the Outrealms. 2. Let's start this off right with one of my recent things, I'll upload more as I do stuff: EDIT: EDIT: Okay I think it's done now
  3. http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=65062 You can find the thread above. For the most part I intended to make it be a story that collectively focuses on several people, but I kept to one for the time seeing as this story is just beginning. I worked pretty hard and I appreciate the constructive criticism when possible!
  4. I'm curious as to how varied chapter goals are in the three different routes. I know Hoshido is advertised to be the second coming of Awakening, so I assume Rout and defeat boss goals are all that are in that route, but I am curious as to what Nohr and the Invisible Kingdom have to offer in map objective variety, and would like it to be presented in a spoiler free environment, so I made this thread. Feel free to discuss the various chapter goals the game(s) throw at you here.
