i'd still rather take blade lord over any of these made-up compound words that sound like they come from fanfics written by middle schoolers

I agree with Dondon. "Blade Lord" or "Lorca" are the most straightforward choices. "Samurai"/etc are not culturally appropriate, "Hunter," "Ranger," and "Nomad" aren't specific enough and clash with other FE classes, and "Swiftblade" does indeed sound like it's out of a middle-schooler's fanfic. There is a medieval Mongolian word that may be appropriate - "Beki" (princess/noble lady) - but it's really not accessible. Just stick with what you have.

Alternatively, perform some asm voodoo and make the tactician name entry screen reappear and allow the damn player to give the Sacaen Skank whatever class name you want! EVERYONE WINS!!! except whoever has to do the asm.

I swear, this was a trap deliberately set-up by Arch. He knows the FE community can never come to a consensus on names.

Lyn was also a lord back in Lyn Mode.

Despite being a random girl with no political power.

Despite being a girl.

Also Eliwood is a Lord even though he's not a lord. His father is a Marquis (and his class is Peer). Hector is a Lord but not a lord. Roy is a Lord but not a lord. And Zealot is a lord, but he's not a Lord because he's a Paladin. Ephraim and Eirika are prince and princess respectively. But they also get the Lord class! And the very first lord, Marth, was not a lord either, he was also a prince.

who the fuck cares

<3

because as arch said the three lords are no longer lords

But they were NEVER lords. In fact, there's only one Lord who was ever really a lord, and that's Ike.

Personally, I support giving Lyn the class name "Boobblade".

Since Lyn is worthy of wielding Mani ad Sol Katii, I'd call Lyn Edgeworth.

Easily the best comment related to this discussion thus far

Second-best IMO

followed by Dondon's little ragefest, oh man that hurt my gut

Arch why do you make such awesome threads, roflmao

not everything i say is a ragefest

Blazer is one of those people who's heard of this trolling thing but doesn't quite have a handle on what it means, so whenever someone disagrees with someone or posts a dissenting opinion, they're "raging".

I'm in favor of leaving it as Blade Lord. Lorca(n) sounds too plain. :(

As much as it's in another FE, Trueblade could work. It's better than Swiftblade IMO.

fan clubs like mine tend to be dramatic about everything the people we adore say, my dear dondon <3

Anouleth is one of those people who doesn't understand other people but think s/he does

AKA an unnecessary smartass

but it's okay, the world needs a few smart-asses because it makes everyone else look better

@Bryan I think Trueblade won't work because of what you said, it implies a similar to the class from FE10, which makes me think "tier 3, extremely powerful/fast", stuff like that. If I saw "Trueblade" I'd expect to see a mimic of the FE10 battle animation attached to it as well

I also think Blade Lord is even better than "Lorca(n)"

Blazer, you're really cute when you think you're being the tough, smug internet hero. But it's wearing a little thin by now, so let the adults talk, 'kay?

I think Blade Lord would honestly be okay, because the alternatives we're coming up with are... 90% pure shit, 10% still not as fitting.

Done.

It will not be "Blade Lord." She's no longer a "Lord" in the sense that Fire Emblem uses the term.

Lyn- The Swordfighter of Sacae

Lyn now lives with her grandfather as Lady Lyndis of Castle

Caelin. Under her loving care, Lord Hausen recovers, and now

the two of them go for many walks in the Caelin gardens.

On clear, dry nights, Lyn can be seen high atop a hill near the

castle. Perhaps she is remembering the home of her youth,

the plains of Sacae...

Lyn- Noblewoman of Sacae

Lyn entrusted Caelin's rule to Ostia and returned to

the plains of her birth. She often thinks fondly on the

people of Caelin.

You could use Noblewoman or Swordfighter :P They're the legit character endings :3

Also now that you've made the change I should probably point out how tribe names do not work that way. We don't call Cherokees "Cherokeean" or Navajos "Navajoan".

And what sense is that?

The sense that she's no longer a leader or a driving character in the main plot that happens to be of noble lineage. Kent and Sain are more or less escorting Lyn to the Kutolah settlement as friends, plus EN has no main plot, and Lyn abdicated her title. Thus "Lord" by FE standard no longer applies. :p

Plus, the Sacaens aren't entirely based off of the Native American tribes. Some aspects of them seem to come from the Turkic Nomads from what I can gather.

As you pointed out, the term isn't necessary reflective of their actual title as a noble. It's obviously a term used within the series to denote the starring character of a game. That's how it's always been used; the only entry not to adhere to this is FE10. Lyn is not a "Lord" in Elibian Nights, and thus her class name shall reflect that.

lyn wasn't a main character in like 80% of FE7 either

also she could be, you know

the figurative "lord of the blades" if you want to get lame about it
