RD HM 0% growths video playthrough

To avoid clutter, and to start this run anew, I will be posting videos in this topic as well as turncounts and accompanying logs.

Since one of RD's mechanics dictate that at least one stat must increase on a level up unless all stats have been capped, the game has been edited as follows to compensate for this mechanic:

- All physical beorc classes have 40 mag cap

- All physical laguz classes have 25 > 50 mag cap

- All playable physical units have 100% mag growth and 0% growth in every other stat

- All magical beorc classes have 40 str cap

- All magical laguz classes have 25 > 50 str cap

- All playable magical units have 100% str growth and 0% growth in every other stat

- Queen, cleric, and valkyrie have 60 HP cap

- Mist and Elincia have 100% HP growth and 0% growth in every other stat

The reasoning behind Mist and Elincia's HP growth is that Mist is 2HKO'd regardless of what her HP is and Elincia won't gain enough levels for the HP growths to make a significant difference.

The following clauses are in effect:

- Physical units cannot be assigned Imbue. Only Elincia can use Imbue.

- Physical units cannot use magic cards for damaging purposes.

- BEXP cannot induce a level up. The game forcing +1 stat gains is manageable; +3 stat gains are not.

- All recruitable characters, Pelleas and Lehran included, must be recruited and alive upon game completion.

Chapter 1-P:

Notes:

0:10: At least one of the bandits must have 8 AS. Otherwise, Eddie would have to Wrath crit 3 times in a row, once on a bandit and twice on Pugo. Eddie has 60 crit with Wrath (58 crit on the bandit and 52 crit on Pugo); given that all attacks hit, Eddie would have a 15.7% chance of success.

0:55: Eddie heals his HP to full. If he Wrath crits one of the 2 bandits that attack him, the third one will KO him (Eddie's max Wrath HP is 5; the bandits do 6 HP damage).

1:57: Eddie needs to proc a Wrath crit on one of his 2 attacks to ORKO the bandit. With 58 crit, he has 82.4% chance of success.

2:26: Eddie needs to proc a Wrath crit on one of his 2 attacks to KO Pugo in combination with Micaiah. With 52 crit, he has 77.0% chance of success. Cumulatively, Eddie has a 63.4% chance to land the necessary Wrath crits on this chapter, given that the other prerequisites are met.

1:05: Leo can't be attacked in that corner by the 2 soldiers.

3:38: Nolan scouts the hit rate against the myrmidon. He has 59 hit with Hand Axe, or 64 hit with Steel Axe (74.4 true hit).

4:23: Leo could have attacked through the railing, but I really do need that Thani for the next chapter.

0:17: Kurth is ridiculously durable, and having him hold that chokepoint ensures that the enemies won't get in my way while I move the important units down the RHS.

1:08: Remember that axes have effective MT against doors. Nolan has 39 eff atk with Hand Axe.

2:14: Nolan shoves Sothe so that Sothe can draw out a soldier.

2:24: With the current choke configuration, it would be impossible for Laura to recruit Aran, so I redirect Kurth to a better chokepoint. Eddie and Leo rescue + drop Ilyana to discourage enemies from following her.

3:15: Micaiah must be shoved in order to reach the armor on the next turn.

3:34: Leo's positioning encourages Aran to occupy the tile 2L of him, giving Laura an easier time recruiting him.

5:13: Laura must be shoved 3 times to reach Aran.

Doesn't giving all the magic units 100% strength growth make them faster, due to not being slowed down by tomes? Either way, I'll probably follow this.

This only matters for Sanaki and siege tomes, all other characters get enough to use tomes without AS loss from base + promo bonus.

Edit: Also Valaura and Rexaura on Miccy, but she's probably going to be doubled and OHKO'd at 100% hit anyway...

Double Edit: For reference, Light Sage/Light Priestess Micaiah has

17/21HP, 8/10AS, 26/30 Avoid, 5/10 Defense, and 5/7 Resistance. I'm pretty sure this is grounds for being one rounded in 1-E, let alone other enemies...

Aside from Sanaki, no magic unit in RD should ever be slowed down by anything that isn't a long range tome. Check it out. Their bases and promo bonuses are simply too much. Maybe I'm missing one or two out there that actually have issues, but this isn't PoR. It's actually one of the (many) reasons Ilyana is so bad. At least in PoR her superior strength gave her one small advantage over His Weakness.

I'm mostly looking forward to late part 3 and early part 4. This game's shift to other armies makes 0% growth runs so laughably clause to the normal game. Then again, it is impossible to get screwed this much in FE10 growth-wise due to WEXP, so I suppose it cancels out, kinda.

0:55: Zihark must ORKO this sword knight. At best biorhythm, he has 33% Adept and 43 crit, for an 85.4% chance of ORKO.

2:23: Volug gets to attack 6 mounted knights here for strike WEXP. In just 2 turns on this map, he gains 18 strike WEXP, 25.7% of the total needed to reach S strike.

2:41: This drop also cannot be done with unpromoted Jill, as she does not have enough movement to safely retreat over the river.

I'm quite in shock in how you do this, on hard mode no less. It wasn't pleasant for me on HM, especially losing several characters and never quite finishing it, so to see someone doing this without any growths that are beneficial leaves me in awe. Well, I guess that's me being bad, but keep this up, I'm really learning from it and it amuses me :P.

I'm not actually supposed to be playing the Wii. These videos were made in the basement, in the dead of night, when my parents were asleep. Hence why the volume is turned really low and you can hear the clicking of buttons on the Wiimote.

Also, have you ever considered an FE4 0% run?

I don't like how slow the FE4 engine is, and I dislike the game itself; plus, Paperblade has already done one.

The chance of success for all of Aran, Micaiah, Nolan, and Ilyana's attacks to hit is 83.2%.

1:51: This is the "no damage trick" that allows Vika to transform by turn 2. Vika has 16 atk untransformed, and the bandit has 15 +1 def from the reeds. 3:37: For some reason, that guy will never attack Zihark, even if Zihark is within KO range, like he is in the video.

1:04: The BK is unique in the sense that he's the only unit in this chapter who can attack with a height disadvantage yet still obliterate the enemy. This is particularly essential for the first gap.

1:11: There are 2 units here that are particularly effective at shaving turns, but have poor mobility. With Nailah, Jill, and Vika, I can rescue the BK and Rafiel so that they would be effective in the later parts of the chapter, and I can rescue Micaiah to carry her to the seize tile.

1:16: I had a few contingency plans to KO this archer. If Volug missed, Jill has an opportunity to attack with Steel Axe on turn 2 player phase (16 HP damage, 52 hit). If that failed to KO, Sothe has an opportunity to attack with Steel Dagger with Micaiah support in range (15 x2 HP damage, 87 hit).

3:46: If the enemies blocking the gaps are too tough to KO, just shove them out of the way! Volug has 20 con, which I think can shove every enemy on the map, even the armors.

5:46: I had thought that I needed to KO this priest, otherwise he would heal enemy units and screw up my strategy. It turns out I was mistaken. I originally had the Bronze Knife because Sothe's +3 MT Iron Knife forge would KO the fighter in tandem with a hit from Vika, and that fighter plus the armor exactly 2HKO Sothe.

7:15: This is another one of those magic tiles. Once the BK eliminates the Steel Longbow archer, the rest of the enemies will all suicide into him on enemy phase.
