You read correctly. This hack is finished and completed, with supports, endings, and well... everything I guess.
As promised, I have finished making the first and likely final patch of Fire Emblem Corrupt Theocracy.

Fire Emblem Corrupt Theocracy is a Fire Emblem 7 mod/hack. It contains custom events, a new story, and some new maps and mugs. All characters and weapons have been changed, and some new weapons and classes have been added.

The Hack is split into two parts: Part One (Lyn Mode) and Part Two (Eliwood Mode). THERE IS NO HECTOR MODE AND THERE WILL NOT BE ONE! DEAL WITH IT!

Part One

Part One is 9 chapters long including the prologue. It has 15 characters. It is meant to be fairly easy, and your characters generally greatly out level your enemies. I believe only the last two chapters should pose any difficulty.

The Story has you follow the prince of the Fire Clan of "Repub". His name is Eli, and he is the Commander of the countries border patrol. The story of part one starts with Eli on any regular old border patrol mission: Killing the bandits from Merc who have come into Repub. Everything changes though when it turns out that the group they attacked are actually working for Holy and are traveling with a True Dragon hostage.

Of the characters found in Part One, nine return as playable in Part Two, but only one of them has their part one stats affect their part two counterpart.

Part Two

Part Two is the main and central story of the hack. It takes place 20 years after part one. The story follows a group of mercenaries who originally work for the corrupt theocracy of Holy. This changes when two soldiers from Repub come looking for a general (a character playable in part one) to help with the countries current conflict, as they are now losing the war against Holy after a sudden turn of tides. When it turns out the general has died, but that two of the mercenaries are related to them, they decide to go as the next best thing, and so as to not go back empty handed. But during their adventure, an even bigger conflict Arieses...

It is 23 chapters long with 54 playable characters. Three of them are only available for the final chapter, and two are "Secret Characters" a la Stefan. Not all characters have support convo's. Instead, they have in chapter convo's with a couple of characters a la FE4. There are some characters who have supports, but have no support convo's.

Spoiler

The setting of Fire Emblem: Corrupt Theocracy is in a world that has been devastated by war and is near the end of its life. 500 Years prior to the story, a being from space came to earth and attempted to take rule over it for himself. Using his vast powers and abilities, he brought many civilizations to their knees, and destroyed many continents. That was however, until he reached the land of dragons. The technology that the dragons used, in addition to their own natural power and numbers, were great enough to equal this being. The war was long and difficult, with some dragons even converting over to the beings side, as he deemed them worthy enough to do so. But despite their best efforts over the 100 year war, the being was defeated in the end by three humans using weapons created to slay dragons.

The Dragon clans had been wiped out for the most part, and would likely never revive with the poor reproductive systems they had. As a list ditch effort, they decided to mate with Humans to repopulate the land and attempt to revive their now lost great civilization. To fully see their plans come to fruition, the dragons sacrificed their ability to transform into dragons in exchange for their genes being "more dominant," as human genes were more dominant than dragon genes. Most humans willingly agreed to this idea, as they thought it would make them more powerful. Some humans did not wish to mate with dragons, as they thought that humans were already stronger. There were even some dragons that did not wish to mate with humans, and instead reproduced with each other. So that the female dragon would be guaranteed to become pregnant, both true dragons would lose their powers and would die when the children, who were always born in sets of three, were born. These children retained some Dragon power, but were not able to transform into dragons. They still lived longer than humans, and were better equipped for mating than the previous true dragons.

In the end, only two True dragons remained. One was an adult, while the other was merely a new born child, the last of his kind. Sadly, this child was born defectively as a result of the mother's exposure to the aliens power, and as a result could not transform into a dragon. The same exposure would also eventually lead the the other true dragon losing his ability to transform too. Being the only true dragons left, they started a new kingdom for the true dragon children. This kingdom was called "Dragon" as such.

The other dragon clans then went on to form three other countries, "Repub" , "Holy" , and "Mage." "Repub" was made up of three dragon clans who served the Earth dragon clan. "Holy" was made up of the divine dragon clan, that focused on using magic based on the powers of the being who invaded their planet. In time, they came to think of the being as a god who destroyed the old world so that a better, new one would appear in its place. "Mage" was made up of the flying and dark dragon clans who wished to revive the magic of old. The country was founded at the location of the old now dead human magic clan. The last country on the continent was "Merc," which was made up of the humans who did not wish to mate with dragons. Over time, it was eventually discovered that those who would mate with the new true dragons would retain the abilities of both clans, but such practice was highly looked down upon. Additionally, the new born true dragon, should he mate with a new true dragon, gave forth the possibility of a dragon of old being born.

KNOWN GLITCHES

1. Some villages have small music problems. This isn't a problem that you should worry about.

2. The last unit to perform an action occasionally disappears when the chapter ends. This doesn't effect anything other than aesthetics, so don't worry about it. Said character will be back next chapter.

3. You cannot view Eli's character sheet stat in part one. If you wish to look at his stats, you must use the unit menu. This only happens in part one.

4. After the last conversation in part one, left over stuff from Lyn's mode occurs. I don't know how to delete this, and it is being left in for part one to part two transition purposes, should you choose to continue.

5. One chp 10, one of the villages can't be visited. There are also some other villiages that you can't visit, but they were programed that way.

6. THIS IS THE ONLY IMPORTANT POSSIBLY GAME BREAKING ONE! You cannot skip the forced Donovan promotion screen should you choose to promote him. Skipping this scene causes bad stuff to happen. You have been warned.

7. In PART ONE ONLY!, you must always press the start button when you see the text after the preparation screen. If you don't, then the screen will become black and you must look at any units character sheet. Just remember you can't look at Eli's.

8. There is a problem with the female shaman animation. I have a working version, tested it to see that it does work, but something causes it to have some kind of glitch anyway. I tried fixing it twice, and in the end I gave up even though I had gotten it to work before.

What is the .sav file for?

The .sav file exists so that you can jump strait into part two, which is the actual mod/hack and story. Additionally, it gives you information on who supports who, and what characters you can look out for in terms of who to recruit.

I highly suggest you play the game like this: Play part one (Lyn Normal Mode) and when it ends, start a new game in part two (Eliwood normal mode). Playing Part one has little to no effects on part two (with the exception of one character who joins you on the final chapter of part two). The reason I suggest you do this is to prevent a glitch that can occur in part two if you choose to do the transition. It isn't game breaking, but it can cause problems. You have been warned.

How to use the .sav file:

Download it and rename it to whatever is the name of the GBA file you just patched with the patch. Make sure they are in the same directory.

Remember, the .sav file isn't necessary, but I suggest using it. In fact, I highly suggest using it.

The Patch

MAJOR BUG FIXED!

The link to the patch is here: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3558

If you downloaded the patch prior to 1/31/2010, please download the patch below and apply it to the rom you patch the first time. Your save file should still work. This fixes a bug in chapter 8 that would not let you finish chapter 8 (The last chapter of part one)

Link deleted

I apologize for this as the problem this patch fixes I definitely fixed last time. I don't know why it occurred again.

Thanks to dguy24 of Serenes forest for the notice.

Gameplay changes and screens

Spoiler

The ocean seal now promotes Pirates and soldier. Soldiers promote to Sword Generals.

The Fell contract now promotes Thieves and Bandits. Bandits promote to Chief Bandits.

Chieft Bandits are a new class, but only one character uses it. The are like berserkers, but can't walk over water and have better stats.

Sword Generals are another new class. They have less str, but more skl than axe generals. Sword generals use swords and lances. Axe generals use lances and axes.

Staff weapon levels are set based on class and do not grow. This is to prevent the useless S rank in staves.

Valkyries now use Light magic instead of anima.

Female shamans promote into female sages.

Female sages use dark, anima, and staves.

Male sages use light, anime, and staves.

Snipers now have a critical bonus.

S rank and support bonuses have been boosted to help make the game easier to beat (it is already pretty tough).

How to beat the two special chapters in part two:

For the first one, either use Larry to speak to the boss or defeat all enemies.

For the second one, have Donovan speak with the boss or Wait on the space the boss was standing on.

By the way, when reporting typos, please tell me the chapter number. But don't go over board with finding typos, since the hack is pretty much finished as I have said.

When giving a bug report:

- chapter

- screenshot

- the error, in detail

- when it occurs during the chapter

- video, if it helps

- savestate, if it is an experience that cannot be easily reproduced by the author of the hack

[/random]

So you're trying to tell me this isn't a reskin hack and it's "complete"? How many chapters is it? (sorry if it was in the first post, I didn't see it)

I used the same words to describe it as you said back on FEU (semi-custom.) I posted the chapter number in one of the optional reading sections, but it is 32 chapter long including the prologue and final.

Part one is 9 chapters, part 2 is 23.

Hey man, loving the hack so far. However, I can't get past the intro to Chapter 8: Conclusion. Jake says his little speech and then the game glitches up. Any help?

Where does this happen? Does the preparation screen show up at all? I believe I ran into this problem once, but I swore I fixed it. Did you try restarting the chapter?

If you can post your save file that will also help.

Alright I did a log, I have to post it in 2 parts but eh *shrugs*

Fire Emblem: Corrupt Theocracy

- No Custom Title Screen?

- Alot of unedited portraits

- Mode Select Unedited/ Portraits unchanged.

Prologue:

"Boooo... A well. It's time to start the introduction"

Should be "Ah Well"

"and were forced to seal him away at the aliens very own keep!"

Should be "and were forced to seal him away, within the alien's very own keep!"

No "And"s after Comma's.

- Country names are very, very bland.

"The holy country is the largest of the five country"

Should be: "Countries"

"Though he would never admidt it..."

Should be: Admit.

"we get who knows how much more for the robbing these towns yeah?"

Should Be: "We could get a bunch more from robbing these towns as well yeah?"

"Oh, no! Those bandits we saw before scurring about are"

Should be: "Oh, no! Those bandits we saw scurring about before are"

"Even the none Nomads" -Hurrr?

Thoughts on Prologue:

Chapter is very bland, could use alot more work.

Your Characters are very O.P.

Bowen's description:

Should be: An Experienced War Veteren whom has fought in many battles. (but even then stating that someone is an experienced war veteren implies that they have fought many times before.)

Village didn't close.

End Prologue:

"You are forced to buy them form"

Should be: From

Chapter 1:

"N why is that Gelo?"

Should be: "Why is that Gelo?" or at least "N' why's that Gelo" if your gonna make him sound dumb, make him sound more the part, otherwise it just looks like a typo.

"He even only joined us"

Should be: "he had only joined us"

Thoughts on Chapter 1:

O_O Troy's mini mug!!!

Troy's battle pallete is messed up as well!

He has no death quote either.

Flo has no death quote.

Barry starting right beside the group is very BLAH

The map is BLAH

The enemy placement is BLAH

The reinforcements are BLAH!!!

What is with low leveled thievies doing so much damage with the poison sword, 12 damage to your pre-promo O_O

What is the point of having the top forts, hard to reach section if the boss and his cronies come running down to be archer food!!!

End Chapter 1:

"I would also like to hear more about Flo and my predicament"

Should be: "I would also like to hear more about Flo's and mine... predicament"

Generally though that entire, hired by Holy, in control by Akuma, who is a Merc leader is a bit, iffy...

Why would a Merc guy need a Holy guy to hire a Merc guy O_O

Also I thought Holy and Merc, disliked eachother!

Needs to be explained alittle more clearly.

Chapter 2:

"my comamder and no further"

Should be: "my commander"

Thoughts on Chapter 2:

BLAH as per usual.

Over powered Paladin, is just WOW!

Our general is BOSS!

yeah...

End Chapter 2:

Nothing really...

Thoughts on Chapter 3 as a whole!

Other than Holy instant inavsion being quite quick and seemingly outta no where,

No real complaint's

Just THE MUGS! It is so wierd seeing those characters interacting that way, I know they are supposed to be different people but, gawd... WIERD!

Chapter 4:

I just -LOVE- Ulala's name, ULALA!! UUULLLAAAALLAAAA!! X3

What is with the weak bosses, but their having over powered Pally's, SERIOUSLY!

OH SHIT SON THEIR SNIPER!

HOLY O.Ped GREEN GUYS BATMAN!!!

I mean Republican green guys >_> <_<

The 2 Pallies guarding take out the majority of the army before you even get close O_O

Reinforcements were annoying/useful they actually helped me hide and abuse the prepromosChapter 5:

Ulala's and Troy relo is very, very there, should be more implied or at least civil...

Holy Pre-promos batman!!

Map is BLAH as per usual

The NPCS beat the level for you!

I was afraid that they'd be raped to death then swarms of reinforcements would have me battling life and limb to survive, nope.

They beat all the enemies then I just waited a few turns....

BORING LEVEL!

Some Typo's: (Captialized the typo part)

base of OperationS

mongrEl

ulalaL

Also the chapter is called Ulala and Troy, yet the did not interact at all during that level, nor did it suit a seige chapter to be called that in the first place.

Chapter 6:

Don't put commas during laughing, that is just WIERD!

"Talk a breather"

Should be: Take a Breather

"Seems some bandits must think that we must be some easy pickings!"

Should be: Seems some bandits think that we are easy pickings"

HOLY NECK ON DANGELO!!!!

LOL mini mug

Chapter 7:

"Wasn't only PrinVe Nova"

The dragons were easily taken out heh

Chapter 8:

Other than the fact that it was WAY too easy and was over as quick as a flash, it was well done!

LOL @ Karel, I mean Karel replacement though just LOL!

Over all thoughts:

Not a bad little intro thingy, actually it was quite well done EXCEPT:

It was just very bland nearing the end, you could have done alot more character developement/ story but as a little intro it wasn't bad

Also I will do one for story mode 2, but I will do that during my second run through (I'm about 6 chapters through so far)
Alright I did a log, I have to post it in 2 parts but eh *shrugs*

Fire Emblem: Corrupt Theocracy

- No Custom Title Screen?

- Alot of unedited portraits

- Mode Select Unedited/ Portraits unchanged.

It was never my intent for the mugs to all be completely changed. This isn't a fully custom hack, just semi-custom as I have stated. No custom title screen is bad on my part. Don't know how to change the mode select portraits.

Prologue:

"Boooo...

Part one is meant to be easy and is supposed to give you little to no difficulty. It is just an introduction. In other words, the characters are supposed to be OP. And just because you are an experienced war veteran does not always imply that you have fought in many battles. He could have just seen many battles and not fought in them. And what's wrong with saying "none nomads"?

End Prologue:

"You are forced to buy them form"

Should be: From

Chapter 1:

"N why is that Gelo?"

Should be: "Why is that Gelo?" or at least "N' why's that Gelo" if your gonna make him sound dumb, make him sound more the part, otherwise it just looks like a typo.

I didn't even think about adding in the apostrophe. Thanks for the tip!

I know that the mini mugs are bad... sorry. I liked Troy's palette. I made Barry start there on purpose because I wanted it to be easy to recruit him. Poison Sword(and only the poison sword) Negates Defense. If you snipe at the enemies by the top forts, they will retreat into them to recover.

Mercenaries are mercenaries. Duly noted if that wasn't explained well enough.

Chapter 2:

"my comamder and no further"

Should be: "my commander"

Thoughts on Chapter 2:

BLAH as per usual.

Over powered Paladin, is just WOW!

Our general is BOSS!

yeah...

I don't get the "Our general is boss" Thing. What is that referring too?

I couldn't think of a good name for this chapter. And I know it is kind of dull...

Chapter 6:

Don't put commas during laughing, that is just WIERD!

Should be: Take a Breather

"Seems some bandits must think that we must be some easy pickings!"

There was something wrong with his neck? And aren't you supposed to have comma's in laughs?

Chapter 7:

"Wasn't only PrinVe Nova"

The dragons were easily taken out heh

Part one is meant to be easy. That, and I didn't know how fighting a chapter of enemies who all had +20 crit would work out.

Chapter 8:

Other than the fact that it was WAY too easy and was over as quick as a flash, it was well done!

What's wrong with Karel's replacement? I can't tell if you are making fun of him or not. He's mostly just there to beat the last boss for you. And did you find any problems with the music selections I made? Or like any of them?

I spoiled your quotes Chaotic_Soma with some comments of mine since it would be kind of large to read.

I added in comments to the above in size four bold font. Thanks for the review though. And don't go overboard on saying what is wrong with the grammar since this is the final version of this hack. In other words, avoid typos unless they are ones like the "N" one you mentioned in chapter 1, or if it seems odd to you. Any grammar problems you find though are useful to me for future reference.

But why? Why isn't there difficulty? At the end of the day, it's a strategy game, and at least from looking at it this ain't the kind of thing you play for the narrative. ...Yes, veterans have to have fought. That's what it means; Dude Who Has Survived A Campaign.

Look, here's the definition;

vet·er·an (vtr-n, vtrn)

n.

1. A person who is long experienced or practiced in an activity or capacity: a veteran of political campaigns.

2. A person who has served in the armed forces: "Privilege, a token income . . . were allowed for veterans of both world wars" (Mavis Gallant).

3. An old soldier who has seen long service.

adj.

1. Having had long experience or practice: a veteran actor.

2. Of or relating to former members of the armed forces: veteran benefits.

Arright? And ... in what context is 'none nomads'? 'cause I can't think of any where that works.

And aren't you supposed to have comma's in laughs?

No.

Oh, now I see the problem with none nomads. It's supposed to be non. Also, no where in that definition of veteran does it state anything about fighting in battle. Additionally, you can say that you have only fought in one battle and still be a veteran of war.

Part one is meant to be an introduction to the world, setting, and story. I designed it to be easy because you are using people who are already fairly strong. If people don't play this hack for the narrative, that's fine, but then there are also people who do which is what part one is for. In fact, it's completely optional if you use the .sav file I gave since part two is the actual hack. Part one is just there to get past "Lyn's mode."

Non-nomadic, then. ...Dude, what part of 'service in military forces' do you not get? Is he gonna get his paycheck from just sitting around and then doing nothing? Even scout work is still fighting. And 'long service', 'long experience', and if you hadn't noticed from the example, "... veterans of both world wars".

Does that mean the gameplay should be pointless? At the end of the day it's an interactive experience.

I understood the military service part. But being part of the military does not mean that you are always guaranteed to fight in the war. Something like that happened to my Grandfathers and one of my teachers: They were in the army, but never did any fighting nor saw any combat (though one of my grandparents might have, not sure. He was a bodyguard for someone in the Danish Royal family). Are they still war veterans? Yes. Long service and long experience still does not mean that they may have fought. They could have had a desk job or been a tactician. The point that I am trying to make is that although you can assume what you are trying to say is true, the fact is that isn't always the case. And as I said before "you can say that you have only fought in one battle and still be a veteran of war."

The gameplay isn't pointless. Just because something is meant to be easy and not give you that much difficulty doesn't mean there is no difficulty. Play the hack and see for yourself. And like I said, that part of the game is optional. It doesn't matter how easy or hard it is.

And I believe there are some military jobs you can get where you sit around, do nothing, and still get paid.

This isn't the modern day. This is a proto-mediaeval setting. If you're a veteran, you've killed shit. You aren't in a military base in fucking Berlin waiting for another World War to start, or a kindergarten teacher in the EU. And the point I am trying to make as a writer is that you hear veteran, you think 'experienced at killing people', and to say further seems redundant.

I might, but there's nothing really tempting me to...y'know, try the thing. The screenshots are...less than inspiring, and the plot outline doesn't really pull me in.

As above.

Well, in my opinion that isn't always the case, and being that I wrote the story, it is my world with my setting. My setting is made so that you could be a soldier "waiting in Berlin" for the next war to start. And that is in fact what happens in part one of the story. Even Radiant Dawn has something like that idea of waiting for the next war to come to you in the first chapter of part 3.

And I don't think "experienced at killing people" when hearing the word veteran.

The only reason I would say to try it out in your case then is because part two is pretty damn tough and because it's complete and not a demo.

Just a suggestion before I even go on to make a simple log of the second half of your game,

What is the point of releasing something if you will not take the time to go back and fix up it's problems?

You have stated that this game is supposed to be for the dialouge and not the gameplay right?

Well then, go back and fix up any grammer mistakes that you have, it will allow people playing your game to enjoy it alot more.

Also as for your spoilered comments, some have been answered already but:

Calling something "boss" means that they are quite strong/impressive etc etc. It is slang, sorry if you didn't know that.

And Relo, again is just slang, shortened Relationship.

Only part one is more for dialogue than game play since it only really exists to get rid of Lyn's mode and give you some hints for part two (Especially when it comes to recruiting one of the secret characters). I mostly made this hack so that I could at least say to myself that I managed to actually make a complete hack. This hack is also meant to be a stepping stone for myself too, since this hack is only parts one and two of a three part series. So it is practice for part 3, in a sense.

Also, please understand the amount of time and effort that goes into making a hack, and how time consuming it can be. As I had already said with the Female Shaman animation, I essentially had to redo my entire hacking process twice because I tried to fix the female shaman animation (Which I still have no idea as to why it doesn't work when I have gotten it to work before) and because of the epilogue.

When I get more time, I might try another experiment to fix the glitches found in the game and text problems, but otherwise it isn't worth the overall effort to fix a small typo or something at the cost of everything else I would have to do in exchange. To give you an idea of what I mean, fixing typos can take me up to maybe half an hour, but all the other stuff I have to fix in exchange will take me about 2 days.

To fix the female shaman animation, you have to go into hex with its animation data, and get rid of the bytes that make the cape flow. Only FE6 and 8 can have female shamans with the cape working, unless you go and rescript the entire animation. Unless you insert it over the male shaman animation, but, then you wouldn't be able to have a male shaman either XD

And, dude, you should try and make this hack the best it can be. Don't try to tell me how much work a hack is; I know, I've done one, with a lot more stuff than yours, including maps, music, portraits, battle animations, and even a battle template. And if there's one thing that takes longer than these events and maps of yours, it's the graphics. You've got it easy making a hack without changing the portraits, and if you don't think it's worth the time to fix anything you can, then it's not worth my time to play this hack.

You're prolly gonna disagree with me either way, so, this comment is pretty useless :P

I knew about the first thing you were talking about, but I didn't know about the male shaman animation thing. This explains why I had the animation working at one point, but not working at another. Do you know if the male animation will still work no matter where it is placed? Because if that is what is causing the problem, I have enough incentive to go back and fix up the patch with typos and game balances (If I get any suggestions, which I haven't as of yet[besides part one which will remain unchanged in that aspect]). I'll probably be able to fix up some other event stuff too such as making chapter 5 shorter.

But my hack has some new maps, mugs, and animations... And I would say that maps would be part of graphics. And it's only not worth the time for something like a typo, unless it is a really large one. I mean, I did fix the game breaking problem.

Though, if you know of a better hacking organization method than mine, that would be nice. Mine is:

1. Edit everything in FEditor first. I used an old version of FEditor for this hack since I wanted to stick with the one I worked with over the summer. This also prevents you from having to worry about checksum problems and helps you manage free space and stuff.

2. Add in new events and maps.

3. Edit Stuff in nightmare.

4. Add tutorial killer.

So yeah, your post actually turned out to be very helpful :newyears:

Also, I updated the hidden item, convo and character recruitment guide.

Male Shaman has the same problem as female shaman when inserted. Sorry :E

The amount of work you've done on mugs doesn't really compare to what I've done, your maps aren't that good, and I haven't seen any animations, so... :/

Organization? Ahahaha! I just do stuff when I need to. I never organize anything. If it needs to get done, it gets done.

I think if you over organize everything, then you spend all your time making sure everything flows into that set-up organization. Just do stuff when it needs to get done. Simple.

I can't make good maps since it is to much of a strain on my eyes. Mugs I can do since I can zoom in more in paint, but maps are a bit tougher. I try my best though...

And trust me, you need to organize your stuff. If I could just do things like you say and do it when I need to, then I would be easily able to fix any text problems that I have, and I wouldn't be telling people not to be so picky about the grammar (I don't think I am even able to open my work rom in FEditor anymore. Last time I tried, it didn't work. But I am using an old version, and am not really good with checksums, so...). Learning how to organize things was likely the most useful thing I learned from making this hack.

And what kind of animations do you mean then? Do you mean 100% full custom sprite animations? Or imported from other game animations (outside of FE).
