You take a 4 turn penalty if an undrafted unit enters combat in any other class than Mage/Sage/Curate/Cleric/Bishop/Dark Mage/Sorcerer after its joining chapter. I think it's pretty clear - unless someone from Chapter 1 died, you take no penalty, and if a Chapter 1 character you didn't draft enters combat, it's a 4 turn penalty. As for generics.. I think I'm leaning on allowing them to enter combat unarmed, with mage classes, being fine? They are undrafted after all, so in my book it's plausible - and makes the draft a little less tedious, perhaps? If you got a bunch of generics and then recruited a few characters, you couldn't enter all Gaidens assuming none of the recruited chars die, no?
