Hey Guys. :3

I'll just get straight to the point here. This fanfic will be centered around Fire Emblem 4: Seisen no Keifu and its cast/storyline. For those of us who have played the game the characterization was rather poor especially when put next to other games in the series. In this fanfic I'll try to fix that. Give each character a back-story, a more vibrant personality. It'll follow the main flow of the game as the characters different stories unfold along the way, from the Verdane invasion all the way to the tragic last battle of our hero Sigurd. And eventually his son's story as well.

In other words I'm fleshing out the characters in a way which will be hopefully entertaining and intriguing.

I'm not sure if Genealogy FFs are all the rage here or if this has been done before but regardless I'll try my best to capture the essence of the game and its storyline along with adding the ever so needed personalities. :)

But before we can actually start, we need to figure out pairings right?

Prologue: The First Drop

One drop of water is what begins an ocean. And like that water just one action can start a whole chain of actions. In this particular story the unfortunate chain of events are set into motions when the dense forest country Verdane and its King, Batou, initiated an invasion on one of Granvalle's territories Jungby.

As his older brother and his army unit travels along the long distance between the Castle of Verdane and the Castle of Jungby, the youngest prince Jamka, pleads for his father to reconcile his actions and to call of the attack. But alas his father is confident in the rather rash decision.

"Father! Listen to me this time! If we attack Granvalle our country will surely lose!" Jamka pleaded once again, just like the other words he said just before. His father sat across from him, dressed in royal robes and jewelry. Jamka kept his keeling position before his father hoping that his courtesy and politeness would at least get some of his words through. But the king just shook his head and laughed quietly.

"Ah. My youngest son, Granvalle has no more soldiers to spare. They are to preoccupied by Issach to the north-east my child. We will be fine, your elder brother is leading the army unit after all." the King spoke, still retaining the mockingly large smile plastered across his face.

"The people will suffer!" Jamka shouted, throwing away the courtesy that hadn't helped him. Jamka's full figured body rose to a standing position as he was sick of his father's ignorance and arrogance. Jamka opened his mouth slightly to reason once more but he stopped as his father stood up and waved his hand.

"Jamka you are not in the position to raise your voice at me, you have always been such a rebellious child, but now you question my actions as King? Disrespectful insolent child. Guards! Escort my son out of here!" King Batou sneered, shouting as he called for the soldiers. Jamka froze right on the spot, even as the guards ushered him out, he resisted but not a single word left his mouth not even until he was placed in his room.

Meanwhile up north near the border of Granvalle Agustria and Verdane..

"Sir. The soldiers are ready for the attack." A rough-looking axe-fighter spoke respectfully to a larger man with blood red hair. The larger man turned around to reveal a wicked smile. The fighter unerved slightly at such a bone-chilling smile but he stood his ground in front of the red-head.

"Just say the word Prince Gandolf and we will charge.." The soldier continued quietly thereafter. Gandolf chuckled heartily before picking up a expensively forged axe that was laid near him. He glanced up, swinging it as if to test it, almost cutting off the soldiers head.

"Alrighty. Lets go." Prince Gandolf spoke, his voice booming loud suiting his size and demeanor. The soldiers around who heard the rather loud announcement, picked up their weapons and charged over the bridge and into Grandvalle's territory. Jungby was only so far away.

"Milady! Verdanian forces have spotted due west! They'll arrive in a matter of minutes!" A tall green-haired soldier shouted as he entered the courtyard, his words directed towards Lady Aideen who had been left behind in charge of the castle with a hand-few of soldiers.

Aideen's gorgeous features were showing hints of dread as the words registered in her mind, her father Lord Ring had warned her of the barbarians and their unpredictability but she hadn't thought they would actually go through with an invasion. She rushed over to the horse-riding soldier knowing that her leadership must be quick and efficient if this was to end well.

"Josef, only you have seen the forces yes? If you think your capable of stalling them long enough for Chalphy to send reinforcements, I am afraid I have to ask you to." Aideen spoke as calm as she could possibly be. The soldier nodded silently at her words as they filled his ears and mind.

"We will try our best milady..however, if I may request that Midayle stay here and guard I would feel much more confident." Josef replied glancing at the castle doors, as if Midayle was actually there.

"Midayle..he's your brother right? I guess it will be fine. But you must promise to come back alive." Aideen replied, remorse somewhere in her voice. She wondered if this would all work out, but in the end all she could do was pray.

As the soft words escaped Aideen's lips Josef slipped off of his horse, his dark green armor clanking. He ran into the castle, using his memory to locate the barracks where the remaining Jungby Arch-Knights were quartered. Everybody knew what was happening when their senior knight bursted into the long room shouting commands. They slipped on their helmets, they grabbed their bows and arrows and they gathered their horses and was about to begin the march, when a long-haired green knight came galloping last out of the stables. His green hair was tied messily and his face was full of determination but he was stopped by Josef.

"Midayle. You'll be staying here to guard Lady Aideen." Josef spoke, his voice commanding and dominant. Like a general's.

"What? Why should I say when this battle will be so crucial?" Midayle questioned, his voice slightly raised.

"Brother..what will happen if we fall in battle? You must stay here and protect Aideen in case of that." Josef said his voice softening a little as he looked at his younger brother's eyes. But his gaze broke as he turned around on his horse. "Arch-Knights! We ride!"

In a organized fashion the horse-riding archers charged out of the gates and into the country-land of Jungby, each one of them knowing and willing to give up their lives for Jungby. Josef rode in front as temporary commander of the squadron his mind troubled with thoughts of his younger brother.

It was only around five minutes when the Verdanian army spotted the brigade of archers heading their way. But neither group stopped charging. Gandolf let out a huge hearty laugh as he sprung forward, swinging his axe down on one of the approaching knights, smashing said knight into the ground with a sickening crack. Josef dodged axe swings as best as he could as he rode into Prince Gandolf's company, his hands nimbly set arrows flying towards different targets most landing. The other knights did the same but one by one they were cut down until it was only Josef left. Josef had already by then sustained some bad injuries. His left calf had a deep gash along its length, his shoulder was broken by the blunt of an axe and his right side had also received a gash. Josef's horse was beginning to tire as he broke through the back of the Verdanian unit, it slowed enough for one of the Verdanian snipers to shoot it down, throwing a broken and hurt Josef into the dirt.

"Your pretty skilled Archer-Knight." Gandolph chuckled, his shadow covering the whole of Josef's body. The knight coughed, his blood staining the light green grass he laid on. Josef's emerald colored eyes glared at the Prince Gandolf with all the hatred he had concentrated in the one glare. "But your dead now." Gandolph spat, his axe swinging downwards, staining the grass even more.

"Charge Forward!"

Meanwhile back at Jungby..

"Midayle..I'm sorry you had to be left behind.." Aideen spoke solemnly as she approached the knight who stood atop the castle's look out tower. Midayle turned around quickly to the soft voice of the Cleric. Her beauty enchanting him as he analyzed her face, but his sense of duty took over him and he shook of the feeling.

"Its alright, Milady. I'm sure Josef can handle those barbarians without my help anyway." Midayle replied, a small smile appearing on his face. Aideen chuckled.

"No, no, I'm sure he would be glad to have you riding with him..Hey, a lone soldier is approaching." Aideen chuckled, her attention shifting towards a lone rider making his way towards the castle. Midayle glanced behind his back and then back at the noblelady who accompanied him.

"Milady retreat towards your quarters. I'll meet up with the soldier and hear the report." Midayle spoke, his hand tightening its grip on the bow he held. Aideen nodded quietly and exited through the doors, praying that it was an ally. After Aideen left, Midayle went down to the courtyard and mounted onto his horse. He rode out as quick as he could, himself also praying that it was an ally.

As the soldier grew in his view, Midayle's heart stopped beating. A Verdanian scout was what the soldier was, but that means that Josef hadn't survived the encounter. Midayle couldn't even speak, his brother was so important to him. He was the only family he had left, and now he's gone as well. Midayle pulled up his bow, aimed and shot. The arrow placing itself neatly in the skull of the scout.

"Damnit! Argh..Josef.." Midayle shouted, his emotions getting the best of him. But he brought himself to shelf his pain as he could hear the rumbling of an army unit. He turned his horse around and galloped as fast as possible to Jungby and when he finally managed to reach the territory he was greeted by an Aideen who had waited in the courtyard.

"Milady! The castle will be completely surrounded soon! We've failed you miserably!" Midayle shouted his voice filled with urgency, and still somewhat hoarse.

"Midayle, it's alright. Everyone gave their best. You needn't worry about me anymore. Please save yourself. I want you to get out of this alive!" Aideen replied, realizing that Josef had fallen in battle.

"No. I'm not leaving. Even if it means my life!" Midayle confirmed, ushering Aideen into the castle.

"..Thank you Midayle. I'm sorry to have put you through this. And Jos-" Aideen spoke as she grabbed his wrist before he left for the guard post

"It's alright milady. As long as you get out of this alive then it won't be in vain." Midayle replied his arm escaping her grasp, and his horse galloping off. Multitudes of soldiers charged in but Midayle shot them down quickly with skill and strength. He managed to take down quite alot of soldiers until Gandolf appeared.

"What's taken you morons to capture this dinky castle? I guess I'll do it myself." Gandolf shouted as he approached Midayle. "You've done a good job surviving for this long, but it ends now." Gandolf quickly grabbed his axe and throwed with a sharp pop of his wrist at Midayle, the axe caught him in the soldier and Midayle was thrown to the ground, knocked unconscious.

"Midayle!" Aideen shouted coming from one of the passageways. She kneeled down to the out cold Arch-Knight. But her attention was quickly taken away from the knight as Gandolf grabbed her wrist.

"Ooo. Lady Aideen of Jungby. Heh Heh. Your coming with me."

After six days decided to continue this. I'll try to update a tad bit more often.

Chapter 1: Charging Onwards

A lone messenger sped northwards towards the dukedom Chalphy, the long time ally of Jungby. He sprinted as quick as he possibly could knowing that the condition of Jungby and its Lady Aideen was in danger. The only person they could rely on was Sigurd. Aideen's childhood friend and a kind-hearted knight entrusted by his father to the protection of Grandbell.

The messenger sped through the gate of the Castle only stopping as two armored knights stopped in his path. A blonde man who stood high and strong and a Green-haired man who seemed quite lax in his posture but seemed just as strong as his companion. The blonde knight looked at the clothes of the messenger quietly and then addressed him.

"Your a Jungby messenger if I'm not mistaken. What has Aideen tasked you to tell us?" The blond knight spoke with a strict tone traced into his words. But before the messenger could inform them the Green-Armored knight interrupted.

"She's probably lonely or somthin'. Wants out Liege ta' keep her company." A small laugh escaped him as it escaped his lips but a icy glare from the respectful knight managed to shut him up.

"No! Jungby is under assault by the Verdanian Army! You must tell this to Prince Sigurd!" The messenger spoke, clearly rushed and flustered. The expression of the two knights changed as they realized just what situation they were going to deal with. The blond knight had the messenger wait in the castle halls while the duo made their way to Sigurd's quarters.

Sigurd was polishing his steel sword when knocks resonated through his wooden door. He glanced over curiously before laying his blade against the wall and opening the door quietly to reveal two hurried knights.

"Noishe? Alec? What's wrong?" Sigurd questioned as he realized that the two knights had their hands grasped on the handles of their weapons.

"Sire! Jungby is under attack! They've asked us for assistance." Noishe spoke out as he quickly fixed his untidy posture by standing up straight. Sigurd nodded in as he took in the information only turning away to grab his weapons.

"I see. I'll go alone. If Jungby's guards have already taken such a beating I don't want any more casualties." Sigurd commanded as he passed by his two knights. They continued to follow him until Sigurd reached the courtyards where three horses were held. One was a white steed while the other two were the color of leather. Sigurd quickly mounted his ride but was stopped as the blond man clad in red armor stood in front of the gate.

"Excuse me sir. But we were born into the knighthood and we would be considered disgraces if we let our Liege perish out there!" Noishe spoke, still retaining a respectful posture as he was still standing in front a direct descendant of the Crusader Baldo. Alec joined Noishe in front of the gate and watched expectantly at the blue-haired lord.

"..Thank you my knights. If you feel you must ride then I won't stop you." Sigurd said a small smile finding his lips, he did a small prayer in his mind as the two mounted, thanking God for giving him such loyal soldiers. Noishe and Alec rode to the sides of Sigurd but before they began the march the three of them remembered that someone had to be left to guard the castle.

"I know the perfect guy. Ardan!" Alec shouted as he turned towards the gate as a large, armor-clad, rough faced man stood there.

"And why's that?" Ardan questioned crossing his arms with a lot of clanking noise coming from his heavy armor. Alec chuckled quietly as he rode over next to the large man, he patted his back and replied.

"Well cause' your strong, reliable and slow! Haha!" Alec laughed riding back towards the side of Sigurd, Ardan glared quietly but his attention was redirected towards Sigurd who asked him if he would be alright if he was left behind.

"Okay, but ya gotta promise me to take me into battles in the future." Ardan confirmed his tone showing he was quite sad that he would be left to guard, but regardless he stood at the guard posts watching the three knights preparing to charge into a whole army.

Sigurd, Alec, and Noishe rode out, wind filling their air and armor they mutually decided to notify the villages of the Verdanian bandits before riding towards Jungby. A couple of lone straddlers found the three Chalphy horse-riders but they quickly cut them down one after another as the villages and Aideen took high priority. Once they reached the closest village they found that a couple of bandits had already entered.

"Alec! Cover the Gate from more bandits! Noishe follow me we're going inside!" Sigurd commanded his leadership clearly being shown. Alec nodded and halted his horse at the gates and Sigurd and Noishe charged inside.

The bandits were causing all kinds of chaos they attacked the civilians stripping them of their valuables before tossing them or taking them somewhere to finish them off. The latter exclusively for women. Noishe galloped towards one who was dragging a screaming villager girl into a house, slashing his head off with one slash. Something he would often resort too as he most of the time wasn't fast enough to slash twice. Sigurd headed into the town square where three bandits started to loot the houses around. Sigurd cut through them quickly trying to be a quick as possible. He slashed back and forth at the vicious bandits dodging their axe swings countering with sucessful slices and pierces. As the Verdanian bandits began to clear out, northwards two new arrivals appeared.

One was a strongly built mounted soldier wielding strong but heavy axes the other being a caster of the arcane magic of Fire. Both of them were descendants of Crusaders. Their names, Azel and Lex.

"Wow. Looks like Sigurd's taking on the whole Verdanian Army! He'll be glad to see us here." Azel spoke as he could hear the clashing of blades and metal. He glanced off southwards as thats where the sound had came from. But Lex could only laugh.

"I don't buy it Azel. You don't really associate with Sigurd so why drag me along to help him?" Lex questioned as he swung his large iron axe around at the air, warming up as they would soon encounter Verdanian forces.

"Uh. He's part of Grandvalle too you know..yeah." Azel told the Axe Soldier his voice slightly showing hints of reluctance. Lex looked down at him, one eyebrow raised from atop his mount.

"Oh..I know. This isn't bout' Sigurd. Its about Lady Aideen of Jungby ain't it! Haha. Azel you little player you!" Lex shouted before he began laughing loudly. Azel turned around slightly embarrassed as Lex's observation was pretty much true. Azel sighed as his close friend laugh hardly from his mount.

"Aww c'mon. We should get going." Azel complained slightly glaring at the now calming down friend of his. Lex nodded still chuckling slightly but they agreed that it would be best to depart. But before they began travelling the screams by a nearby village pierced the air. They turned to see Verdanian Babarians flooding inside of a village.

"Azel! I'll go protect that village. Go meet up with Sigurd and tell him of our arrival alright? These Verdanian scoundrels have had their time long enough." Lex commanded, Azel nodding and running off to the distance with his Fire tome clutched to his chest. Lex turned his horse around and charged towards the village. He slipped within the gates and began cutting down some of the bandits that found themselves inside. He swung his axe around quickly trying his best to save as much villagers as possible but he was too late. One of the bandits had already set fire towards a section of the village.

"Damn!" Lex shouted as he hurried towards the burning section to take care of the bandits there which he managed to do and with the assistance of brave villager workers they put out the fire. Lex was thanked and recieved a sum of 4000 gold pieces before they fortified their defenses and he quickly rode out towards the nearest church to have his cuts fixed up. His thoughts went to Azel who at the time had entered the village that Sigurd and his forces were liberating.
