Personally, Premiership marathon on the weekend is on the cards for me. My brave lads, Sunderland, will play distinctly average football against the equally unremarkable Fulham while being shouted at by a literal fascist, who will probably shoot Phil Bardsley. can't wait tbh

"distinctly average"? At least it's not current Scottish football. oh man.

Really I only watch national football these days so I'm a little out of date on the English league, but who's Phil Bardsley and why specifically him? All I know is that somehow he qualifies for being in the Scottish national team, for some reason.

alright, back to dead topic

IT'S SLIGHTLY UNDER A MONTH

Our manager's... kind of psychotically uptight about straying from schedule and perfect training. Phil Bardsley's an alright right-back in my experience (though he does take a lot of pointless long shots that go nowhere near the target) but he was caught going into a casino once and this makes him, in di Canio's eyes, Literally Satan.

I have a ticket for Borussia Mönchengladbach (4th in Bundesliga) at Hertha BSC (6th) at the Berlin Olympiastadion a week from now

i'm probably going to get to see my "hometown" team get the living shit kicked out of it, but at least they're not up against Bayern Munich! Okay I was wrong and Hertha won 1-0, it was a pretty exciting game

it has

also come back to die is jamie young's career as he will be sat on the bench for Brisbane for the next X seasons

I very much look forward to The A-League Season because it might actually be pretty even, Melbourne City obviously has all the money and David Villa/Damian Duff/allegedly Lampard? and even Perth has stepped up his game.

A guy returning to the A-League from the scottish premier league has claimed that the A-League is actually at the higher standard of the two. That's either very flattering or highly insulting.

I'd believe it. This is such a one-horse race league right now. It's like the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, but much worse as none of the other teams have any quality.

One of my favourite facts about this upcoming season is that Brisbane lost their 28-year old Albanian striker to Melbourne Victory and somehow seem to have found another 28-year old Albanian striker.

Bayern Munich still almost lost the Cup lol. They won 2-0, but in extra time and Borussia Dortmund had a header by Hummels disallowed that would have won them the match IIRC.

And Kroos is heading to Real Madrid so that'll also bring them down a bit.

Kroos didn't have as much space in the squad last season, tho. Bayern's still broken as shit. Real Madrid and Barcelona also are keeping up, but the latter still doesn't have a nice defense.

Liverpool is also desperate to give some depth to their squad (last season they pretty much ran all games with the same squad, no rest at all). Raiding Southampton could work, and they are going after Reus AND Lukaku as well. Their CBs options still are laughable tho.

Chelsea will win, Suarezless Liverpool will flop, Madrid will spend hundreds of millions of dollars on international players they don't really need (they alrrady have), Barça will not fix its defense entirely, and Robben will Cut Inside.

These are the most bold of predictions.

edit: also sunderland bought a striker to kill jozy altidore once and for all

I guess the title is staying in Manchester this season, too. City is pretty much the same team, and Manure now has a proper coach, and they are trying to remove the shitty players. Hiring Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw were correct decision.

The EPL is the most interesting league, because there's like 5 teams who can chase the trophy. Unfortunately (or rather fortunately since I hate the England national team) it doesn't translate into national success, since the teams are full of foreigners.

Spain this season will be between Real and Barça as usual. Atleti lost many key players and, although they hired Mandzukic from Bayern, I don't think they have the oomph to challenge the Real-Barça duo.

Can't say anything about the Champions League but Bayern has a good shot again. They have the best striker in the Bundesliga now (Lewandowski). They can win the league easily, but I still don't like Guardiola.

All ten A-League teams have a realistic shot at the title this season OP

(this is a lie Wellington/Newcastle/Perth are shit)

Why do you hate the English national team?

The thing is, Dortmund had sooo many injured players that they were practically playing a second strength squad. Once all of their players come back (such as gundogan, schmelzer, bender etc.) they have the chance at winning. But mkhitaryan up front isnt gonna give them much luck (if you saw him against Real Madrid, you would know what i mean)

Reus probably played the match of his career there. Mkhitaryan fucked it up tho. BVB did sign some nice players tho - Adrian Ramos was one of the top goalscores on the Bundesliga, and Ginter was in the Nationalef squad. They proved they can climb up to the top with a much more humble squad.

Also I dunno if the EPL has a faux-balance or a faux-imbalance. Only 5 teams have been crowned champions since the league was born, I can hardly call that a balanced league. However, like people said, there are many teams who can dream of being champ.

Yeah, reus played absolutely brilliant in that game. He ripped apart their defense as if it wasnt even there. But then he had to rely on Mkhitaryan to finish off the job, which failed miserably. I heard that he had a crisis in confidnce after the game, so that made me not hate him as much, but still...

These days, its almost impossible for leagues that are like, 30+ years old to have a balance. there WILL be teams that are just better, or have plenty of moneys to make them better. it cant be helped.

I dunno, I guess it's more of a money thing. You don't see south-american leagues get nearly as one sided as most european ones do.
