I always pronounce it Wi-vern, like the word "with" without the 'th' sound and "vern" like Jules Verne.

I say "Wi-vern". On a possibly related note, does this mean Wyrm is supposed to be "Why-rm"?

According to reference.com, "The wyrm is an alternate spelling of worm or wurm, a European dragon" so wyrm is not "why-rm." As it turns out I have been pronouncing wyvern wrong for a very, very long time though.

When I first heard the term from playing Fire Emblem years ago I was inclined to go with the wi pronunciation, but over time the why felt more proper.

I don't care if it's fact. I don't like that pronunciation of the word at all. And names are different. They're not actual words, so there are multiple ways to spell and pronounce some. I've seen Mai as "May" and "Meye" for example. And somebody would have to be dumb to pronounce my name as "Kolly."

hmm actually i sometimes pronounce it like wü-vern :D, or a combination of i and ü ^^

I pronouce it Whi - Vern, but I'm French, so it's normal.

But I guessed the correct English way Why -Vern... I was surprised t o see so much beople pronoucing it Whi- Vern. (You're all secretely French)

BTW to this day, I still cal Arche for Tales of Phantasia Ar- Tchay.Dunno, it sounds fancier.
