Garon = Donald Trump

USE SPOILER TAGS GOD

Would vote for Hillary if Trump/Cruz is the Republican nominee - I'd rather be part of the effort to stop him (even if it ends up being woefully unsuccessful and with a candidate I'm less than enthused about) rather than just sitting out and watching it happen. I mean... I live here.

I also look forward with some glee at the possibility of Lindsay Graham or Glenn Beck having to vote a Clinton or a socialist just because they hate their own guy even more. It's like some kind of karmic justice.

EDIT: The more I think about it the more I'd vote Clinton over Rubio, too - he's more or less the same just younger, a dude, and significantly less experienced and opportunistic/savvy if his debate performances are anything to go by.

He's probably the only person who has a remote chance at beating Trump, by taking the votes of Jeb, Kasich, Christie, etc. But doesn't look like it's going to happen so far.

I think so too. Cruz is too unlikeable to win a general election, even against Hillary, so all the establishment is backing Rubio. It'd be interesting to see how his poll numbers are once Carson and Kasich finally drop out.

I recently saw a tweet from Trump saying that endorsements mean virtually nothing and his success is proof of it, and looking at how things stand for now I think he's right. Rubio was endorsed by almost every major politician in SC and he barely beat Ted Cruz, much less Trump. National politicians are flocking to his camp left and right and polls indicate that he'll probably lose to Trump in his own home state.

I guess it's just amazing to me how much one dude has overturned the whole political process. This election has already changed the GOP, maybe for good.

There's something about Ted Cruz that really rubs me the wrong way. I can't put my finger on it, but I feel like he's even more dangerous than Trump in a way almost independent from policy.

it's because he's actually canadian

I might get torn to shreds for this but..

http://projects.newsday.com/politics/2016-siena-college-poll/

A recent poll shows Donald Trump leading Hillary Clinton among voters in Long Island, NY, which is ironic considering New York is highly liberal. Margin of error is +3 , so there are reasons to be skeptical. I do not know if the poll includes Brooklyn and Queens.

Kind of off topic but Garon = Donald Trump and Hinoka = Hillary Clinton? That seems to be the general election scenario we are gravitating toward now.

Haha! Garon is way more capable than him. America is blessed to be ruled by Garon.

New York is also Trump's home turf. New York isn't a particularly conventional Democrat stronghold; I can see New Yorkers being willing to side with Trump in the same way that Boris Johnson enjoys high popularity among Londoners (despite London leaning towards Labour in general elections).

(I'm aware that Hillary Clinton was Senator for New York but she's not really seen as a "native" in the same way as Trump.)

He is more of an analogue to Vladimir Putin as Ryouma is to Shizno Abe, as for some reason I feel that Nohr is to Russia and Hoshido is to Japan.

Anyways, why is free trade bad, and why are Bernie and Trump so opposed to it? TPP, NAFTA, and so on.

What exactly does Ryouma have to do with Shinzo Abe?

As I understand it, free trade is detrimental to working-class people. It leads to jobs being outsourced to stay competitive in global markets, and to take advantage of cheaper labor.

Farmers also suffer due to subsidized food being imported from elsewhere for cheaper.

Free trade also makes countries like the US vulnerable to countries that practice currency manipulation. China undervalues its currency, which lowers the price of Chinese exports, but acts as a tax on US imports. On one hand, this means American consumers can buy imported goods at lower prices. On the other hand, people lose their jobs because companies can't compete with these cheaper goods.

To add to this, the U.S. has regulations that not all other countries have (solid minimum wage), so it's cheaper to outsource work to countries without them. Advocates against free trade want to tax items produced in these exploitable nations.

Wow this debate was a real shit show. It's terrifying this is about the next potus. And once again it's creepy to see Trump be the sane person on some of these issues.

I thought it was funny how Rubio would periodically raise his hand and then be like fuck it.

We only have 3 more to go until the main presidential debates that start almost 6 months later on September 26 later this year.

Long Island is fairly conservative. Property taxes are high here so its what you would expect.

Free Trade is bad because it doesn't work except under very specific circumstances.

NAFTA is a major cause of illegal immigration of mexican citizens into the USA.

The whole comparative advantage we learn in econ 101 is bull anyway. They just assume labor can be instantaneously and magically retrained, when that never really happens, and diverse economies are way more successful than ones that focus on just one industry, ie. see Canada's economy going down the toilet with oil prices.

so how about that super tuesday?

nothing unexpected on the republican side, but damn bernie got his ass kicked.

Yep, unfortunately. It looks like Trump will get the nomination, so we'll have to hope the lesser of the two evils wins. Yay for stagnation!

Well yeah, but in favor of who? I actually want Trump more than I want Cruz or Rubio at this point, and Kasich isn't getting the nomination any time soon.
