And they're all good characters. I think I'd say Ewan is my favorite, though. I really like his Super Pupil class, and his supports are all entertaining. I especially like his talks with Dozla...but of course Dozla is awesome, and all of Dozla's talks are awesome. So there's also that. But yeah, anyway, Ewan is my favorite. However I will say, Amelia's backstory and talks with Duessel are some of the best. NOTE: 1: A character's starting class determines which list they go on. For prepromotes, what would have been their starting class in their game determines which list they go on. For example, Renault is a Bishop, but his starting class would have been a Monk if he wasn't a prepromote, so he goes on the Monk/Bishop list. Yodel, on the other hand, goes on the Priest/Cleric/Bishop list, he is a Bishop but in Binding Blade Monk was not a class so his starting class would have been a Priest. 2: If a character is not playable in the main story, they are not included. They always turned out great for me, in all four of my play-throughs, with Amelia consistently being the worst of the three but still not bad. Ross is the best of the 3, for whatever value that statement has, as being the best of 3 bad units still doesn't amount to much. Garcia is just the better choice unless it's a draft. Amelia and Ewan compete with each other for the dubious distinction of worst unit in the game. They are really similar to Wendy and Sophia, the worst units in FE6, in that one is a 4 move lance using unit with absolutely terrible bases that is ORKOed by everything and can only really gain exp safely by tossing inaccurate Javelins, and the later is a mage that also has really horrible bases and also gets ORKOed by everything, but at least has slightly more accurate chip than Amelia/Wendy. Anyway, both Amelia and Ewan suck complete and utter ass, and which one is worse is largely a matter of personal preference. I for one think that Amelia is the worst. Maybe before unlocking his Super Pupil class, but once you have it...SUPER PUPIL! He can use all three types of magic! That's a no contest. Are you just lazy in training units? The only way the trainees are comparable to units of similar base classes is either if you baby them, which is tedious to do on higher difficulties, or you can tower grind, which is lots of time investment and makes the game tons easier and SS is already pretty easy. Ross is the only character with enough chapter availability to be viable, but he still starts out weak and Garcia can basically do his job better for the first 5 or so chapters, even if you are using both equally and then I never found the motivation to deploy either of them when I started to have a choice about deployment. Carmine is right, the trainees aren't very good; they are very usable if you baby them or tower grind, but why invest a ton of time in units who are only a little better than their counterparts? Garcia may have a slightly lower speed growth, but Ross never ends up that much faster than Garcia even at high levels. Like, before promotion, Garcia's speed is equal to or higher than Ross', and a level 10/20/1 Berseker (or Hero) Ross has a whopping 1 Speed lead over a 20/1 Hero Garcia despite having had 9 more levels of growth. Besides a noticeable luck lead, Ross' stats are never that much greater than a Garcia of equal level, and Garcia has a much better start than Ross, so claiming that Ross >>> Garcia is hyperbolic. He have the Hatchet, but then it's his Strength that becomes a problem... At least his high Luck allows him to use the Devil Axe semi efficiently (Something Amelia can do as well.)
