Easy Gold Farming without DLC

Hey all,

Just thought I'd share this with you since gold seems to be pretty scarce in Fates. This obviously works best in Birthright where you can do Challenge battles, but it's perfectly viable in Conquest as well if you're willing to sacrifice a slot or two in battles here and there.

To farm easy gold, all you have to do is take in as many characters with Profiteer skill and high luck levels. This may seem obvious, but by recruiting various Corrins/Midoris from other players in Castle battles, you can pick up 5 or so characters with it in a single sitting since Profiteer is a fairly common skill to see popping up. Then take a character with Rally luck and park them in a corner of the map. Keep having each player use the "Wait" command each turn following a rally luck. Repeat for all 7 initial turns, then clear the map.

Edit: Midori is ideally the best possible character for this, as she has access to Luck+4 and Lucky Charm, which increases the trigger rate of her luck-based skills by 20%.

I only started collecting Profiteer people yesterday when I had this idea, and I'm already generating roughly 20 gold bars per battle, which ends up yielding around 8k gold per challenge once you add in the 2k from enemy drops.

You can actually get 7K profit if you grind Chapter 26 maps (and some of the child maps, like 'Child who died before her dad could talk to her and thus I missed out on her, didn't realize it, then thus permanently lost her because I overwrote the save file and didn't keep a backup'/Soleil's) in Revelation (and i'd imagine Birthright too), so you'd be pretty much doubling your income.

Really quite helpful when I have to earn over 1 Million Gold (I did the math... 274 for each +7 according to SF, times 3800 for Silver Sword cost) for all my +7 Silver weapons i'm trying to forge! So this might actually be pretty useful for me.

There's just a lot of enemies and they're all level 20 promoted. They cost 1340 per search, but you get out of it 7K profit. They are also good for grinding levels really. My Avatar (Thalia) is like level 80 (Great Lord Class) from them.

The others cost less, but you get less money in return.

Does anyone know if Profiteer can trigger in castle battles? From my experience I haven't seen it happen, but I haven't tested it. If so, farming gold in Conquest would be easy as pie.

I highly doubt it does. Part of default Conquest is the limited money.

You have to get DLC for grinding in Conquest normally, so I imagine Profiteer can't trigger in castle battles or at least won't trigger if you're playing Conquest during them.

Also, I just realized that Midori makes an even better recruit for this task. Her personal skill is Lucky Charm, which increases the trigger rate of her luck-based skills by 20%. That beats Corrin's Hoshidan Unity skill, which only gives it a 10% boost.

Also, I would highly recommend using the Sevenfold Sanctuary to farm if you're not farther. It's isolated so you can easily farm all 7 turns.

Somebody on reddit mentioned that you can't recruit other people's recruits (those with the blue shields) after castle battles. Can anyone confirm this?

my farming build: high Luck MU w/ profiteer, replicate, salvage blow(better than profiteer), hoshidan unity, and lucky charm(someone somewher has probably hacked this, I rate this even higher than aptitude in terms of OPness thanks to dragon fang, and my own insatiable lust for gold.)

+ azura constantly singing to me

+ Before fates free DLC

= ridiculous amounts of profit w/o paid DLC

(Selling weapons from salvage blow = more profit than 300gp cold bars *I played hard conquest after hoshido, so sue me*)

Also i've never actually used azura on a replicated unit before,

If singing to a replicate gives BOTH an extra turn, Use azura.
if not, just grab 5 profiteer,replicate,salvage blow, hoshidan unity MUs off of the internet. you can find them with a bit of googling.

Just thought I'd bump this as the paid DLC map has come out as you mentioned. No need to pay for that stuff if you can do it for free. You'll still be grinding a map to get the gold, so why not do it without spending real money. It literally couldn't be easier to farm.

Can confirm, yes. You also can't learn skills from them.

Also, for quick math's sake:

Midori = +20%

Hoshidian Unity = +10% (obtained by having a Birthright/Revelations Corrin marry Kaze)

Merchant = 35 Luck maximum (without child mods so results may vary) = 35% Profiteer proc

That's 65%. You can make it 69% if you snag a Luck+4 from a Azura/Kaze Midori. If you need the Luck+4 or Hoshidian Unity for a Midori, let me know. Since my Midori is Level 1 Merchant her Luck isn't max, so recruiting her won't help much, but she does hold all the skills needed.

I got totally obsessed with making loads of money on Conquest and this thread helped me out. If anyone's still looking for profiteer/salvage unity etc, my castle currently has 10 units with profiteer (mostly neutral units) and 3 with salvage blow (also neutral--MC, femkana, midori).
