Weird Story Moments for Spouses [[Spoilers!]]

I had a weird story moment at the end of Conquest Ch. 24 where Camilla (who at the time was MU's wife) repeatedly refers to MU as 'brother' to Hinoka. So um, yeah. Interesting to know that you're apparently brother first husband second to Camilla. ~___~ While I like her, anything that reminds me of Cersei Lannister is decidedly off-putting lol.

Happens with all the siblings if you marry them. Nothing changes like in Awakening with Lucina's scene. Kinda pretty disappointing.

Haha! My validation email finally came :) I created my account here just to say that I completely agree with TC. I mean, cmon, you created three games for Fates, would it have been really that hard to change the dialogue up a little bit? If yea, than maybe cut some characters, make them only A rank, some of the pairs make no sense anyways.

Awakening was my first FE game, and I absolutely loved how integral some characters were o the story, and how it changed, albeit in minor ways to adjust for your choices of partners, even if it still suffered the "same farewell syndrom" and there were some issues with epilogue, it was far, leagues and miles ahead of its Fate counterpart, where absolutely nothing is acknowledged, creating moments of utter discontent from the story thats being told and breaking immersion in several different ways.

Honestly, now that I played a few other FE games, I understand that it was never truly about amazing storytelling, while the stories are compelling and somewhat interesting, they are never all that well written and are plagued with plot holes, be it because of gameplay, or simply because of an oversight. But this is something that can be easily improved upon and made more in depth, coming from Awakening to Fates was rather dissapointing, as I felt that they regressed, rather than progressed in their continued betterment of the franchise, they tried to tell a compelling story, told from different sides, or with different possibilities at least, but it ended up breaking its own characters and flow (I mean seriously, anyone actually reading Xanders supports would have to suspect that the story Xander is someone completely different)

I genuenly feel like the Birthright/Conquest/Revelation thing with different choices leading to different games is a great idea, but they clearly didnt have enough time to implement all they wanted and still push out three games, its incredibly unpolished in regards to the waifu system.

Like it has been said many times here and in other posts, dial back on the romanceable characters, dont have children characters if they dont fit the story, dont get me wrong, I really like having children there, but damn fates explanation of them is BEYOND PATHETIC. And tie up the lose ends, rather cut a game, than cut content from a game. Even with all thre campaigns the game feels somewhat less finished and full than Awakening made me feel. I know that some people will be dissapointed that they cant S rank their favorite person, that is why I think Avatar should still be able to do it, but why not do it with the other characters, considering what you did with Subaki and Selena, you know how to do a bit more specific pairings and seeing as not all characters and S rank all others you also know where to stop, why then you cant treat the rest of the game the same way.

All in all, CMON developers, there is utter laziness, which I exemplify, and then there is not changing revelation Scarlet epilogue to account for the fact, that you killed her off during the campaign...

Thank you TC, you put it to words perfectly :)

Also, with Shadow of Valentia on the horizon, do we have any info about how its looking there with the waifu feature?

About this topic, super old, but this is what you get when you last minute hamfist waifu mechanics to pander to the awakening fanbase without addressing the details in the narrative like they did in awakening, such as Lucina behaving differently if Robin is her husband/mother (i especially like making Robin Lucina's mother, even if it isn't optimal). Also would help a little integral characters weren't killed off by plot, or if around a half-dozen characters weren't allegedly related.

As for Echos, it won't be waifu emblem 3 as far as I've seen. Supposed to be a faithful remake with a few changes, and new mechanics. IS must have learned the hard way after Fates that you dont get away with doing a waifu sim without a narrative overhaul, and acute attention to detail in character interactions, or else immersion gets ruined so quickly.

I accidentally skipped the epilogue for Fates, but after reading this thread, it seems I didn't miss much, lol. But yeah, it is very unfortunate that the pairings aren't fleshed out and are basically just superficial. One example that stuck out for me was at end of Conquest when Azura disappears. Corrin says, "Next time we meet, I'll tell you what you really mean to me" or something like that... Since Azura wasn't my wife, I found this statement extremely strange. That whole sequence just seemed like a confession scene, honestly.

It really shouldn't be that hard to make the pairings make sense. In Awakening, all they did was change two or three lines, but those changes left a big impact. I'd much rather have a few pairings that are detailed than tons of lazy, terribly-written ones.
