Mag+ Nohr Noble worth it?

Absolutely because you can rock Levin Swords and output some solid combat at 1-2 range, and +Mag even has the cool side effect of a slight boost to speed.

For bane... Skill's an option since Levin Sword can't get crits or procs anyway, though be warned it will have a big accuracy hit you'll need to patch up somehow against certain enemies, such as with a Gunter pairup or Heartseeker. Luck hurts your magic boost somewhat but otherwise isn't a bad choice especially since dragonstones make crit a non-issue, Strength is also an option if you want to rely mostly on dragonstones and levin swords. I'd avoid Res even though I normally would consider it, since you're hurting both your magic and your speed with that.

Dark Mage, Wyvern, Samurai all have some pretty useful skills/builds for a secondary class, but of course you may want to choose that to help out your spouse/children too.

. . .or you can use tomes, so that Nohrian Trust isn't a total waste (Aegis/Pavise are nice, but so are the offensive procs).

Dragonstone's good if you need to tank stuff, but you won't be able to counter. I'd go -STR for a pure magical build (to flip off everyone with Rend Heaven) or -DEF if you want to use a regular sword every now and then.

It definitely works, it'll take some time to build up your tome mastery, but tomes will easily outpace the levin sword at endgame since they can crit/trigger skills (like standard, built-in, dragon fang) and have other bonus effects (such as using moonlight to recover a small amount of hp after attacking or being able to use calamity gate on lance/shuriken wielders).

Also, for some reason, magic boon has better growths than similar stats do as boons.

Normally you'd compare strength and magic, but magic gets a solid 5% extra over strength in addition to a very welcome speed boost.

Levin Sword has lower hit rate than Steel Sword, dragonstones lower your Skl.

Nohr Noble has the second loweest Skl among promoted classes and only 5% Skl growth.

You are not supposed to hit by choosing -Skl.

+Mag boost base Mag by +3 and growth by +20. Nothing could hurt you Mag.

Magic boon is pretty good since it can allow easier one hit Kos with dragonstone, allowing you to break through some really annoying situations with ease. Sure you can't double but the damage on one hit is that good. You can't deal with ranged attacks yet until you promote so no problems there.

Also, get Odin hitched and you can get easy horse spirit, allowing you to be tanky, fast and retaliate at a range. This stacks in conjunction with your yato defense bonus so you won't feel the defense losses as badly. Your tanking with dragonstone isn't even that bad due to dragon curse being a thing.

Beware of ninjas though since they have res and they make anyone's day worse. At least you have an army to work around that.
